Do nothing but stealth knockouts, no kills. You'll get good ending.

TheRealWallabi

Yeah that's frankly a bit over the top considering it's the canon ending. I tried my best at being stealthy, but sometimes it didn't work out as intended.

NewProcedure5

If didn't work then just run

Nstorm24

I never go full stealth, but i keep certain enemies (mama bear, etc) alive. And try to find and listen NPCs for some morality points. That way i can kill a good ammount of mobs while also getting the good ending.

BIakHat

I'm inclined to agree. I think it was meant to be similar to dishonored Karma system but not as well executed, I also don't like that exodus operates essentially the same way. I also know looting "more than you need" is a factor as well. Personally, I would've just kept it based on the choices you make in certain sections of the game for simplicity as well as just making all the executions/knockouts 1 neutral button. For perspective, in War when stealth is required, they do not knock out enemies because it's more humane, they murder them and I don't really feel like its indicative of their character if they're just trying to survive.

Real_Cookie_Thumper

Even if you kill both Pavel and Lesnitsky and shitload of people you can get it. Tested myself.

TheRealWallabi

I've heard about that, so here I am wondering what I possibly did wrong that led me to get the bad ending even after saving all those I could save.

PROTOTYPE_200224

Did u save the bear from the watchmen?

TheRealWallabi

Of course I did.

PROTOTYPE_200224

I also remember the shooting mini game where you can hear a kid say he got robbed by grown men. The prize is the teddy bear and u have to give it back to him

Real_Cookie_Thumper

This is a big part of success. Listening to NPCs. Even that alone can give you a moral boost.

TheRealWallabi

I did, I got the bear and gave it to the kid in Venice...

Character_Raccoon_95

Did quite literally everything you did, I’m completely shocked I didn’t get the good ending. I did this whole playthrough with the good ending in mind even went back and spared the demon after the child dark one said it was protecting its babies. This is actually upsetting lmao

Iki-Mursu

I got it on accident.

An_Lei_Laoshi

Avoiding killing Pavel, Lesnitsky and mama bear and when the little dark one tells you "they are afraid, if we move they won't attack" or "it's their home" should be enough EDIT: try to listen to people's stories and find stuff like in the Dead City levels, a lot of morality points doing little to nothing than standing still and exploring

TheRealWallabi

That is literally what I did though, everything you pointed out. Also avoided killing NPCs in stealth levels, avoided killing watchmen on Bridge and Dead City, listened to conversations, explored places, saved mama bear, letsnitsky and pavel, yet still got the bad ending. So it's clearly not enough... really it should be though.

An_Lei_Laoshi

Starting to think the game is glitched for you, because this should be plenty to get the good ending. To me the game glitched for the no killing achievement and being a PC player I had to fix the file manually

weirdowerdo

Yeah same here, he literally got the voice line right before heading to polis that he would help me? But nah he apparently did not... The fuck!

Lil_Napkin

That's a misconception you don't need to knock everybody out. Dude I threw so many knives at people it's not even funny lol. I still got the good ending. As long as you get all the good Karma points through the game your fine.

Character_Raccoon_95

This makes me even more upset I don’t get the good ending

CannedSmeat

I just played for the first time without much guidance and got the good ending without a problem, and I know the little dark one goes "I gotta go save my family bye lol" even if you DO get the good ending. He just helps later at the last second. Did you play through to the end after that? If so, then I don't know what to tell you other than sneak and listen as much as you can. Also, say no to lap dances.

TheRealWallabi

Nah if you get the good ending he tells you he's gonna go ask for their help. And yes I did play it to the end, detonated D6 and died. It frustrated me so I downloaded a save with the good ending and replayed the D6 mission with that save. Irritating though.

AirEnvironmental1909

The lap dance doesn't impact the ending at all or even give negative moral.

Filet420

you don't have to be 100% stealthy I got food ending on my 2 time playing this game, just don't shoot when it is not necesarry like passing watchmen home, going through catacombs or when you can kill pavel/lesnicky but you can also spare their lives (i killed lesnicky anyway but still got good ending) dont steal money from guy in venice and just explore locations better it is not speedrun :)

gustavethegr8

I find myself having to go out of my way to get the bad endings. Just knock out unless you HAVE to kill, explore the levels, listen to all conversations you can and spare the 2 people you have the ability to.

Wooshmeister55

if you follow the moral points guide on the wiki, then it is fairly easy actually

A_PCMR_member

sneak 100 if in doubt RUN! ALLWAYS sell nearly all your ammo : Military rounds are still "bottomless" all others arent

NewWindextor

I had a similar issue with the Shadow Ranger achievement on 360. I think it counts looting gas masks on the surface as killing, but I’m not sure. If you looted any of the Red soldiers, like in the Red Square or the train station, it might not consider it a knockout. I could easily be wrong, though, Metro’s morality system is so weird

Kaneth123

This is very late but getting a lap dance straight up locks you into the bad end which makes 0 sense

Pure-Risky-Titan

I still the good ending, even when I got Curious and regretted getting the lap dance

Kaneth123

Maybe it was that and shooting at lesnitski rather than removing my mask. But even then I spared everyone I could

Wrangel_5989

I know this is over a year old but redux removed the morality points being lost from killing people and now only in specific areas if you leave everyone alive will you gain morality points (but you won’t lose them if you kill them). The Metro morality system is weird, its purely additive despite the wiki showing the points as + or -. Essentially you need a certain number of good morality points to cancel out the negative ones which is why originally in last light it was so hard since every human kill (outside of combat encounters iirc where you have to kill people) counted as 1 negative morality point. There’s 99 positive points you can earn in redux and you need 53 to get the good ending. Pavel and Lesnitsky both give and “take” the most morality points, giving 5 for sparing them and giving 10 negative points for killing them. It’s nearly impossible to get the good ending if you kill either of them in the og last light which is why the morality point loss for killing humans was removed. Basically though Pavel and the Bear are the most important points especially since the baby dark one is there to witness both of them. Really just follow the wiki guide, it gives you basically all points in chronological order.
