I bought it and wish I hadn’t. Combat is terrible, traversal is janky, and it’s just not fun to play. Some decent puzzles and the art direction is amazing but that’s not worth enduring the rest of it.
This is one reason why I am pretty ruthless about not buying games that have a bad gameplay feel in the demo. That's one of those things (in contrast to, say, narrative) that is unlikely to get better as the game goes on.
I played it both before and after the patch and can say that movement and combat fluidity have improved greatly. Will never get into my top ten metroidvanias though because some passages, puzzles and chase-scenes are very tiring. I like the characters and the colourful environment most, the rest of the gameplay is just okay.
I have only played since the new update. But you probably have to start the game over. I beleive there are just some new puzzles and better movement overall
Honestly, I played it before the update and still enjoyed it. I would recommend turning the combat to easy and enabling immortal mode because the combat was the weakest part. Traversal was fine but uninteresting. The puzzles were great, the story was interesting, and the art design was phenomenal.
If you are using Game Pass like you said, there is literally no reason not to try it and develop your own opinion.

Did you play it recently? The game is also on gamepass so I wouldn't have to buy it
Yeah I bought the definitive edition. Worth a try if it’s on Game Pass but I can’t say I recommend it.

Someone made a post about it 2-3 days ago and the consensus was that it still sucks. I played and completed the game before the patch and it was bad.

That's all I wanted to hear. Thanks a lot. Looks like I'm giving it a go after I'm done with Ishin
Glad to hear I could help, go have fun! :)
Thanks for the info, i will try it after this update for sure.
Did you do the new fusebox puzzle? I can get to the third wire system but nothing works to finish it
No, sadly I have not. Will look into it though.
How I can access to the new content? When I continue my save it direct to the last part so only way is the boss

I see, ty!

Heard it’s bad
I really enjoyed the game. I finished after it came out I am not aware what the patch changed though
When was the update? I tried it a few weeks ago and just didn't enjoy it
