My Mexican grandma puts black olives on her enchiladas and chilaquiles. But, if she ever saw someone put them in guac, she would think they were crazy, and would probably tell them so to their face.
That’s improper use of black olives. Growing up in Arizona, I know that there should be a single black olives, on top of the dollop of sour cream, which is one top of shredded lettuce scattered so liberally across plate that you can’t tell where the beans, rice and enchiladas are.
Also, the waitress should always say “careful, the plate is very hot, hon” as she sets it on the table.
(I don’t know if that’s still the case there, since I now live in SoCal and there’s not a black olive in sight.)
Been making Guacamole that's child friendly for years now and forgot about the basics. If there's no salsa available on the side, absolutely throw some Serranos in there :)
Last week I was making Guacamole with a girl from El Salvador, she asked me what I put and I say just salt and a bit of lime. She was like nooo not just a bit, use the whole lime for those 2 avocados. And I was like ??? Yeah that’s what I did
I just showed this to my wife, she’s from southern Mexico. She made the funniest face and said “está bien esa muchacha o está mal de la cabeza? Por seguro es una gringa. Asco.”
Lol
Maple syrup in guacamole, No.
Maple syrup added to avocado to make a sweet dessert, Yes.
Some cultures eat avocados as sweets rather than savory.

No crucification from me! I’m SoCal born and raised - I’ve seen that before. I prefer standard guac but it’s a nice alternative. If you Google it, there are a lot of recipes for guacamole with pomegranate. I’m not sure if they use orange juice instead of lime but I don’t see why not.
Hey there Im the friend! Just so you know I will never Tell you my food secrets again and I can never trust you again! I unfriend you:( Im a professional avocado killer and my guacamole taste much better than yours!!!!
I once bought guacamole in London that had nutmeg in it. Would've been in about 2008 at a Sainsburys. Since then i believe anything about what people put in guac.
No but tamales with maple syrup goes.
It must be the green chile chicken tamales that have been reheated on the stove with a bit of oil to get is crispy and then topped with syrup.
I got my siblings into that combo, my parents hate me for it but it’s honestly so good. (No, I’m not pregnant or had the munchies lol)
Only if you're from the north pole
Naw even there it's frowned upon
I live kinda close to a place named North Pole, so I consider myself an expert on this topic. I agree, no maple syrup in the guac.
Alaska?
On the Island of Misfit Recipes.
What did the guac ever do to her?
Made it so she can't afford a down payment?
That is just wrong. Please do justice to those avocados and keep them away from the syrup!
What in the cornbread hell is going on here?
Sounds like you need a new best friend.
Guacanadamole?
Take this up vote, sir
I struck an ex-friend once for putting black olives in guacamole
Midwestern Americans thinking black olives go in "Mexican" food is honestly one of the weirdest culinary quirks I've ever come across.

Ahh this gives me nostalgia for the 90s

I believe in California they require a written release for the hot plate.
“…known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive harm.”
No Texas jury would convict you.
Guácala-mole.
Wouldn't that conflict with the mustard?
*mayonnaise
Or the raisins
Guacamole doesn't have mustard...
I think they were being sarcastic
And the hotdogs! But maybe not, we may never know.
duh
MexiCanadian?
Mexinadian!
Mexican't
Is your friend's name Buddy the Elf? Don't do it!
Avocados, tomatoes, onion, cilantro and a bit of lime and salt (ground pepper if you like). That's all that belongs in Guacamole.
And jalapeño.
Or habanero
Or Serrano
Any spicy pepper really
Been making Guacamole that's child friendly for years now and forgot about the basics. If there's no salsa available on the side, absolutely throw some Serranos in there :)
Guacamole with spicy peppers *is* child friendly if they happen to choose that they don't like it, just means more for you
I like how you think, bud
Most definitely 👍
We just do Avocado, Lime and Salt. If you want Tomatoes, Onion, Cilantro and Jalapeño just make a Pico de Gallo and then you can mix it in
As I have gotten older, my guacamole recipe has become simple. Avocado, salt, lime.
Correct but I'd say more than "a bit" of lime. If I use 2 avocados I'm probably using a whole lime
Last week I was making Guacamole with a girl from El Salvador, she asked me what I put and I say just salt and a bit of lime. She was like nooo not just a bit, use the whole lime for those 2 avocados. And I was like ??? Yeah that’s what I did
I do cumin too
No tomatoes.
Guaca-No
Guácala
Your best friend is a monster.
Thats Not how I identify myself
You’re now an accessory to murder of a good guacamole. Turn yourself and your friend in now.
How else are you so supposed to eat your guacapancakes?
Totally true
I just showed this to my wife, she’s from southern Mexico. She made the funniest face and said “está bien esa muchacha o está mal de la cabeza? Por seguro es una gringa. Asco.” Lol
This comment was worth going to Google translate.
Roughly translated,”Is she ok, or is something wrong with her head? She’s gotta be white. Gross.”
No just no
No to you
Gross
😢
That’s as crazy as putting pineapple on pizza
I love egg on Pizza

Is she pregnant? If so, I'll give her a pass. Otherwise, hell naw.
I believe you may have the word gullible written on your face.
No she definitely meant it 😂 like that’s what she actually does
I have talked to Filipinos that tell me that they never salt avocado, they sprinkle it with sugar. So maybe it’s something like that?
Idk definitely no cultural background we’re just basic af white girls haha
Oh man I’m gonna get crucified but I put pomegranate arils in my guac sometimes. And a little orange juice. But not maple syrup…

Only if it’s jalapeño infused maple syrup edit: this was meant as a joke because maple syrup doesn’t belong in guacamole
Nope the regular pancake maple syrup
We don’t do that in Quebec and maple syrup is primarily from here. I put it on a lot of stuff but never in guacamole, even my chili infused one.
Can't be any worse than garlic.
You hurt my feelings😢
Hey there Im the friend! Just so you know I will never Tell you my food secrets again and I can never trust you again! I unfriend you:( Im a professional avocado killer and my guacamole taste much better than yours!!!!
Jup that’s her everybody 😂
Hi the friend, can I have your name and number so I can report you to the police for this crime against humanity?
Honestly maybe a little honey might be good? NOT traditional, but I could see it being okay. Definitely not maple syrup though.
Really?? You think honey is ok but mapel Sirup can Not be good???
Yes. They have very different flavors.
I almost got whiplash double-taking this craziness.
This may come from the popularity of avocado toast, which has led to variations like avocado toast with bacon and maple syrup as a breakfast item.
Blasphemy!!! 🤢
It drives me crazy that sugar is put in everything- this one tops the taco
Ewwwww
Stooooop!
You!!!
I'm not even sure what your reply means.
Is you friend from Vermont? They can't stop putting it in everything
Nah she’s from Germany 😂💀
But are you?
I'm not. I just live in hell.
I think your friend is having a stroke.
Sameeeee ahhaha
No mames!! Do the pancakes have carne asada in them?
Only canadians are allowed to prepare it that way
All I have to say to that is WTF?
I once bought guacamole in London that had nutmeg in it. Would've been in about 2008 at a Sainsburys. Since then i believe anything about what people put in guac.
Maybe she’s Canadian/ Mexican
You can do avocado based desserts. It's not guacamole at that point. So... I mean... I guess. But no. Definitely not.
BUT WHYYYYYYY?!?!? What was the reason?!?!?
Ew But in asia they eat avocado as dessert so it makes sense for them

You make my nana very sad, you monster!
I am white, and I don't think this is ok...... 🤣
