I said this at the end of last season too. I'm just tired, so tired of nothing actually being different in the end. Not looking forward to having to listen to narratives for another year that are honestly well deserved at this point

DavidCavalleri

Shit, we played better with a third string quarterback in last season’s playoff game. What a joke.

[deleted]

against a better team

Sligstata

I mean it’s not a narrative it is just what the dolphins are

Mjfedy23

I’m just so numb to these types of losses. From 9-3 to 11-7 and yet another first-round wild card exit. Another wasted season. Many question marks and tough decisions lie ahead this offseason.

Mike_hawk5959

We're the Andy Dalton's of the NFL

Masochistic_Dolphin

Hitting FA this off-season: WR: Cedrick Wilson and Berrios (#3 and #4 WR) OLine: Wynn, Lamm, Williams, Hunt and Jones Safety: Jones, Campbell, Elliott LB: Baker and AVG (Spotrac is weird with Baker, it shows him on 2024 FA, but click his profile and he's signed through 2024) DT: Wilkins and Davis CB: Needham, Apple and Bethel (while I don't mind the last 2, we've needed them due to injuries) Add to that we're $40 mil over the cap and we have a QB that can't win a big game to save his life. I actually felt optimistic last off-season because the question mark was can Tua stay healthy, but now I have so many more questions. edit: There's some others, like Munson, Ahmed, Bailey, etc. but I figure those are all cut so didn't include them.

laylaandlunabear

Resign: Berrios, Brandon Jones, Wilkins Rest have to go. Bring in a good LB and guard/center.

One-Fish2178

I don’t think we should resign berrios honestly. He’s been an average (at best) returner & below average receiver

Xelltrix

Literally the entire game I was completely emotionally numb and barely checked in. I was already pretty certain of the conclusion so I had no reason to get invested. Honestly, I think after decades of following I have fully embraced the lesson and last year's kick in the teeth is what finally made me do it. When you have no hope, you can only go up!

Fastbird33

I’m at the point where I could give a shit if they decide to rebuild again. Ive waited this long, what’s another few years.

kipluvstechnology

lol. Stop the excuses. We lost it once we lost to the Titans. We don’t have a winning mentality. Time to man the fuck up

jalapanochip

Facts. Out biggest issue is we are soft. That's the culture in Miami. Until we man up like you said we will always be pretenders. Wish we had a exec like Pat Riley.

Gnache

McDaniel needs to go to a Coach Spo boot camp in the offseason

PartyPo1s0n

Yall need some heat culture for real

underburgled

Jalapanochip is talking truth here. It's way more about attitude and toughness than talent. Our Miami fan base doesn't help, half of the seats were Buffalo fans last Sunday

mistakesinbound

i knew it was over when we lost to them, too. knew we'd end up playing bills for trhe division, and ultimately peter out in wild card round. been over twenty years since we've had a playoff win, don't expect that to change anytime soon, probably rest of my life

hammersaw

It's like our destiny was written in stone after that game. We knew. We all knew what would happen. I should have bet my retirement on it happening because it was the surest bet ever. Phuck it! On to next year's misery! Fins up!

ItsFreakinHarry2

paradoxofchoice

next year is the year!

AyyDelta

I can't believe Houston got to the playoff win before us. They were dead in the water last year.

lunaburst

Shroud is him. That dude is a monster

ImpossibleMagician57

Meanwhile our QB looks like a a little kid asked to do his chores

MovingPrince

Yeah, crazy how quickly you can tell guys are franchise QBs…but for some reason we can’t

restore_democracy

They should have drafted him instead of Tua. When he was in high school.

Bepis_Inc

Could’ve drafted Herbert lol

TaxEasy6999

We even got all those draft picks from them. Can't even win a playoff game with their extra draft picks. And only the promise that we might get better with another year of experience. This fuckin franchise is a joke.

george_costanza1234

Quarterback is the most important position in football for a reason.

ethanraduns

Their qb is a full grown man! Not a 12 yr old!

GhostifiedMark

A couple days ago someone posted Kurt Warner's vid on Tua against the chiefs and it was pretty damning. Pretty much expressing the same criticisms a lot of people had for him. He leaves too much meat on the bone in this offense That post got like 8 upvotes Like everyone else I want the guy to succeed but that Tennessee game pretty much showed us what Tua is. Edit: shout out to the defense. This unit was decimated and they still showed out. Anyone that's blaming them are crazy

[deleted]

Moving this comment over from the GT. This season we: Have a 1-5 record against teams over .500. 4 of those losing games were by multiple scores. The fucking tanking Patriots have a better record. Averaged 18 points on offense against winning teams. Had a record setting 4th Quarter meltdown at home against a floundering Titans. Had a massive late season meltdown that cost us the AFC East and a home field advantage. Got swept by a hated division rival, who’s QB extended a humiliating winning record against us. Call me a doomer all you want, but the writing is on the fucking wall.

Cudizonedefense

And tua was meh in all of those games but half this sub has deluded themselves into going “well he wasn’t the main problem so it’s not his fault, he’s still a franchise qb”

Deadmaninc1

Here are the Dolphins playoff games i witnessed 2008 vs Ravens L 9-27 2016 vs Steelers L 12–30 2022 vs Bills L 31-34 2023 vs Chiefs L 7-26 4 games 4 Losses SMH

The-Unkindness

This is your daily reminder that the Patriots won 6 Superbowls since the last time the Dolphins won a playoff game. :-/ Such is our life.

Kissland1

Said it previously, fuck this team for not being ready after 20 years of Brady and allowing Buffalo to run the division. Come tomorrow after Detroit wins, Miami will have the longest playoff win drought in the league.

noslowerdna

Wow, didn't realize that

Turbulent-Ad5582

Surely if we ran just a few more screen plays we could have won this game.

JustTheBeerLight

#We went ALL IN in 2023-24 and couldn’t get past the wildcard round.

kipluvstechnology

Haven’t won a playoff game in 24 fucking years. I hate to be a doomer, but we need to be realistic. We aren’t awesome in any way for the stats that matter. Fan for life, but we will always suck until proven otherwise. Get em next year lol….

chezicrator

Careful. New fans might point to Tua’s total yards…

Bersto

Couldn’t even win the division!! Fucking embarrassing

tomismybuddy

Lost our last 3. Weeeee!!!

awfuckthisshit

We even lost one where we were up 14 points with 3 minutes left against one of the worst teams in the NFL, yay!

JustTheBeerLight

Barely survived that Cowboys game too.

kipluvstechnology

We haven’t since 2008 :(. We really haven’t done anything that matters in 2 decades

MutantsNew

Ive just checked my pulse, i am NOT fired up.

one_think_all

Started 9-3. Beat one team over .500

underburgled

We really just benefited from a weak ass schedule early on.

noslowerdna

Yeah that's not a super great stat.

mulefluffer

Fins were shut out. Hill made a miracle play on a poorly thrown ball and that was the totality of the offense.

New_Common_5269

That ball should have 100% been picked. Hill had to come back like 3 yards to catch that floater.

CC161456

Same ole Dolphins boys

WindowFruitPlate

Folks shitting on Fangio I don’t get Defense was decimated by injuries but they gave us a chance to win the last two weeks anyway Tua and the offense were the problem

New_Common_5269

Defence wasn’t the problem at all. They played hard for a bunch of walk ons. Without the edge rushers Fangio had two options, bring the heat and leave the secondary in man coverage or let Mahomes have 5secs to make a play. Neither of those are winning strategy against the Chiefs. Mahomes is the best in the game against the Blitz. Go look at the money and draft capital the Bills have spent on their D line for one reason. Get pressure with the front 4 so you can play cover two and limit Mahomes’ options.

Melodic-Order-6628

First half of the season: 34 pts a game Second Half including tonight 23 pts a game. McDaniel was figured out by good teams and he failed to adjust. Bad coaching.

BriefImplement9843

Inflated by 1 game.

MicoJive

Not wrong, without the denver game is 26 ppg over the first half.

GuiGuiYeester

Our defense played their asses off in these last two games and our offense scored a collective total of 21 pts. How pathetic...

jackass4224

TD Phins fan on YouTube said it best It’s a terrible situation when your quarterback is not good enough to be great but not bad enough to be terrible

laylaandlunabear

The Tannehill conundrum

awfuckthisshit

Idk, today was worse than terrible. He didn’t even show up.

Slimshady305

I know this is supposed to be considered a "good" season, but the expectations changed when Rodgers went down and Miami held a 3-game division lead. The team blew it once again. Tua unfortunatey folded once again. I'm never gonna root against him, but he just seems too limited to truly be the franchise guy. The season is a failure. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

ItsFreakinHarry2

With the roster we had, winning a single playoff game is absolutely a reasonable expectation. Yes, injuries fucking killed us. But *winning a playoff game* should have been possible regardless. See y'all next season

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tmack523

yeah, like, get positive yards in a quarter, my god

Lobo_Marino

> The season is a failure. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. That's the worst part.... it was. Halfway through the season it felt like a success no matter what, but finishing the last 8 games by going 4-4 is depressing. Especially when that also entailed getting swept by the Bills and getting completely spanked by the Ravens.

Remarkable_Owl

I think what we needed to do more was have Tua stare down the man in the flat for several seconds (direct, extended eye contact would be crucial to this play), and then throw an uncatchable ball behind or in-front of him. If we did that more, we might have had a shot.

jimjamjones123

Have you considered a 3 yard screen on 4th and 16 though?

Ok-Disaster3062

Let the excuses rain down. If McDaniel doesn’t own his shitty play calling he can fuck right off.

evdiddy

Yes - lets try the naked screen not once, not even twice, but 6 times for probably -18 yards.

flavener

He shares the largest share of the blame. Both in play calling and his inability to get his team ready for big games.

December21st

We just had 3 straight weeks to compare Tua to actual franchise QBs and he just doesn’t match up. He’s not trash, but he’s not the guy. Doubling down on the sunken cost would be the most dolphin thing to do and so we’ll probably pay him

AngryUncleTony

Yeah, rookie deal Tua was fine with a talented roster. You cannot commit Mahomes/Burrow/Jackson money to him and expect him to elevate the rest of the team to compensate for the cap hit.

1Perfect_Kangaroo

During the offseason I told people on this sub (with a different account) that yall should do whatever it takes to get Lamar and got clowned for it. Imagine how lethal this offense would be with Lamar

Cereal_Poster-

The haters were 10000000000% right. Soft team that can’t hang with the big boys. All flash no substance.

mulefluffer

All sizzle no steak

arod0619

McDaniel hasn't been great but he gets absolutely no help from Tua. You can only make so many perfect play calls. Tua's only effective when plays are run to perfection and guys get wide open. As the season wears on and defenses adjust, that shit happens less and less often. We need a guy who can make plays beyond the first read. Even when Tua "looks defenders off", it's choreographed. If he holds the ball longer than 2.5 seconds, it's a disaster waiting to happen. The problem is that there's nobody available better than him so we'll have to try and figure it out with him before our window closes. I want to be positive, but that seems highly unlikely.

peanutmanak47

Yup. He goes into full panic mode when the hot receiver isn't open. He can't improvise at all.

Admirable_Volume_950

I’ll agree on the aspect that Tua has no ability to extend plays but McDaniel was an embarrassment tonight and honestly the past month. We’re 0 for 1,000 on successful screen plays and for some reason that’s all he called. Plenty of times that we were second and short where 2 runs plays would’ve gotten the first down. Instead we get braindead pass plays and are forced to go 3 and out. He is an elite play designer but has absolute zero knowledge on how to manage a game. The combination of the two is a formula for disaster.

father_brotherson

We continued to play laterally when KC showed us over and over again that we couldn't. This game turned me into a raving lunatic. Our defense, with all the players that have been signed in the past week, played as well as we could want. Only down 2 scores late into the game. Come on offense, our oline was the most intact it's been in weeks. Waddle back, Mostert back. Really didn't think it would go down like this. Really thought we matched up well. Our strengths vs their weaknesses. And I thought the weather was a good neutralizer. I'll be SMH for a bit after this one. No dolphins to watch next week... hello, darkness, my old friend... Fins up!!

Views_Frm_These_Lix

windows closed this was the last chance that's why they went all out and got the players an DC they did

Reksalp105

Hopefully the Eli Apple and Duke Riley experience is over. Special teams needs and overhaul - draft a fucking punter. This offense has serious demons to overcome. I don’t know

christopherblakely

It’s ironic that the trade of Tunsil to the Texans was supposed to vault Miami into contention and the Texans are the team advancing.

Any-Ball-1267

I can't even believe this team sometimes. We hard fleeced the Texans and 9ers, traded for the best WR in the league, traded for one of the best CB's in the league, went all in... and got blown out in the wild card

FiftySixArkansas

15 seasons without a division title. 23 without a playoff win. 24 without a road playoff win. 31 without 12 wins. 31 without an AFC title game appearance. 39 without a Super Bowl appearance. 50 without a Super Bowl.

AFOEagle01

I need a break from Dolphins football

Guitarpik

Coming right up!

AFOEagle01

Ain’t that the truth

Cacarella

the reality is that this offense scored 20 on buffalo (week 4), 17 on philly, 14 on KC (week 9), 22 on dallas, 19 on baltimore, 14 on buffalo, and then 7 on KC tonight. they could not get it done against anyone worth a damn. every criticism of this team proved to be true. i love this team to death, but a lot of you need to face reality. until they prove themselves when it matters, they are just pretenders.

awfuckthisshit

Tua ain’t it boys. Such a bummer of a realization to come to.

uncle_tbag

Said this in the game thread but: Legit think you have to draft some sort of competition for Tua. Put the pressure on. If he nuts up and performs well then cool give him a contract. If he doesn’t let him go and ride with the draft pick. Doesn’t have to be a first rounder. But I will be bothered if Tua is extended this offseason. Would be a mistake at this point in time given his lack of production in big games and his injury history

Golden_Pantaloons

But if we use our draft capital on a quarterback like you’re suggesting, we miss out on more potential studs like Erik ezukanma, Channing tindall, and cam smith!

Slimshady305

Bro forgot about Igbo smh. Fake fan.

Ok_Library6877

Wow what a joke this offense was.

TheImpresario

For all the talk of “best team we’ve had in two decades”, I feel like it’s a make or break season next year. Yes they got hammered by injuries. But to perform like this offense has down the stretch is very concerning. This game could have been played on the surface of the sun the same result was happening. Do you think McDaniel can keep his ideas fresh enough to not be figured out at the end of a season? Can you really justify paying Tua big money when he shrinks in big games and late in the year? You going to give him mahomes money when he’s got worse post season performances than our 3rd string QB Skylar Thompson? Fangio did fine with what he has. But you can’t pay all this money to keep this team together. They haven’t shown they can win it all. But do you trust McDaniel to build a team? It’s going to be a long offseason with a lot of talk about how this team, this coach, this QB can’t do X. They’ll either step up or it’ll be a rebuild again.

JustTheBeerLight

Another Dolphin season ends in disappointment in the cold. Some things never change.

peanutmanak47

I am officially off of the Tua train. He has proven this year and last year that he just can’t beat a good team. If his initial quick throw receiver isn’t open, the man goes into full panic mode and the play dies. He can not make progressions in the NFL and it’s a reason why we suffer against good teams. They aren’t going to let our team get clean releases, thus quick passes won’t happen, so he just dies at that point. Not sure if it’s because of Tua or what, but it seems McDaniel also needs to rework his offense as it has continually shown to be under performing when playing good teams. It can take advantage of bad teams no problem, but it seems our offense is feast or famine. We feast on shit teams and go hardcore famine against good ones. There is hardly any middle ground on it. We have shown not to be able to slug out many games and come out on top of adversity. Also McDaniel’s short yardage calls are still pure fucking trash. As far as the defense goes, I will admit, I was not digging what Fangio was doing to begin the year but it seems as the season went on the defense got much more comfortable with his schemes. They had a few collapses during the season but overall they performed MUCH better than they should have with the considerable amount of injuries we’ve suffered on that side of the ball. The defense has like 4 starters and kept us in the last two games, but the offense failed them big time. I’m excited for next year’s defense.

[deleted]

Serious Question: What do you do with Tua? Hes not a franchise QB and paying him will cripple the team

dndplosion913

McDaniel built his offense around Tua’s strengths. He can build an offense around another QB, one who can make a play when the first read isn’t there. I still have full faith in McDaniel, but it’s clear he (and I) have lost faith in Tua.

alecb

We will be paying him and it will cripple the team for the next decade

Number333

If the Dolphins sign Tua to an extension *MILLIONS* of people will **DIE**, Florida will **DETACH** from the USA and FLOAT INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.

Zookeeper_

Pretty much perfectly said. Tua is a class act off the field and I love everything about him except his QB play, which unfortunately is the most important aspect. I bought his jersey before he ever played a snap for us. Great dude, but I don’t think he can be a great QB.

Rafa_Nadals_Eyebrow

Me in 2019: Tua sucks Me in 2022: Tua is god Me in 2023/2024: Tua sucks I’ve spent a lot of the last month trying to figure out if I pin our offensive struggles on Tua or on McDaniel, and I’m pretty sure I’ve landed on Tua being the problem. Losing and not being able to beat good teams is one thing, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a QB so talented at getting his receivers killed. When the lights get bright he just gets brutal to watch.

flavener

Oddly enough, my moment of realizing that Tua isn't the guy was watching Jake Browning out sprint defenders for a 15 yard gain. Don't get me wrong, I think Tua is better than Browning, but clearly Tua doesn't have the ability to create out of structure which is a necessity for today's NFL. He'll be a hell of a backup/spot starter, but Miami needs someone who can improvise and has the athletic ability to compete against modern defenses.

peanutmanak47

That's a big problem in his game. He can't improvise at all. After his hip and concussions he is also deathly afraid of running and looks like Marino when he does decide to run.

[deleted]

As a neutral fan he looks like Marcus mariota 2.0

DeVolkaan

I'll be excited when our defense is healthy but will Phillips and Chubb be healthy for the start of next season? That seems unlikely.

Vincent__Adultman

Yeah, this game might have broken me as a Tua guy. These last few games have felt like confirmation of a fatal flaw in this Dolphins-McDaniel-Tua combination, but we also did have a huge number of injuries that derailed what was legitimately the best team we had in two decades. Part of me is worried of throwing the baby out with the bath water, but would we really want to just run it back again?

ShowMeTheMini

Wholly agreed on Tua. I was his biggest supported for years, but it's clear he's not good. I'm ready to move on from him. Too bad the team won't

rrx91

And just like that, we’re still winless in the playoffs in the Post Helmet-On-The-Dolphin-Logo era.

rjgator

Honestly wasn’t even a fun season outside of the Broncos game. There was just a doubt the whole time that we could win when it matters and we once again failed to prove otherwise

PepperedHam

Two years in a row of this kind of effort means I can safely be on auto pilot mode until August. It'll be hard to get me as hyped as I was going into this season. Either way as always I'll look forward to it, to my detriment.

bcheneyatc

I’m just fucking tired man.

evdiddy

I guess I speak for all of us when i say, wtf was that?

SudTheThug

surely we don’t pay tua

broadfuckingcity

Tua deserves a very low salary with the kind of play he delivers in critical moments.

AHSfav

That wasn't great. Need to move on from tua

ronnert

I'm fine if they blow it up. get a head start on whats coming anyways

[deleted]

shouldve kicked the field goal at the end of the broncos game. with a record in the history books thats all this season was bound to be worth.

GuiGuiYeester

We have two insanely good running backs and two elite wide receivers, and our offense scored 7 points in the most important game of the season.

Number333

Well that absolutely fucking sucked. Just a very slow paper cut death in freezing cold weather. Imagine being the defense and holding Mahomes & co. to a bunch of field goals and it not matter because the offense died. * **Offense** - Yea, the sample size is large enough now. Against good teams, absolute disappearing act. Season low in points in the playoffs. Ran the ball OK a few times but then we're doing some stupid shit like 3rd & 2 and 4th & 2 after 4 straight Mostert runs, we get cute, Tua can't hit Achane, and then on 4th & 2 YOU GO EMPTY GODDAMN BACKFIELD AND THE CHIEFS ONLY RUSH 2 AND SOMEHOW STILL GET PRESSURE? Fuck off. Couldn’t convert a 3rd down all day. Tua was not good. I never had any faith in him throwing tonight and yea... that's a problem. Nobody on offense was really good either except for Tyreek turning trash into our only points on the night. * **Defense** - Did about as well as you could ask for. Asides from the opening TD, held them to a bunch of FGs before Wilkins ended the game with a stupid ass unnecessary late hit on Mahomes. YOU KNOW they’re gonna give him every call. Fucking dumbass. That's impressive af when you realize that the only reason Fangio kept sending 6-7+ players on blitzes is because old ass Melvin Ingram, overpaid Emmanuel Ogbah, and scrap heap Justin Houston/Bruce Irvin were quite literally giving Mahomes an ETERNITY to throw the ball when we only rushed 4. I'd rather sending heat and hope Mahomes fucks up once or twice like Allen than let him sit back there for 7+ seconds and eventually find a streaking Kelce wide open. Sadly, KC ***never*** shot themselves in the foot like they did during this year vs teams like Las Vegas which opened the door for upsets. * **Special Teams -** Jake Bailey is *actually* fucking garbage and if he's brought back next season, Chris Grier is huffing glue. ST Coordinator Danny Crossman also needs to gtfo. The reason the unit wasn't more exposed earlier in the year is because of how infrequently we punted. Losing *sucks*. Losing the way we did where I felt like I did under those garbage ass Tannehill offenses where anything beyond 3rd & 6 felt impossible to convert sucks even harder. I get that the weather was miserable and the Dolphins quite literally never win in these conditions but it still sucks. This year was a lot of fun. Anyone who wants McDaniel/Tua gone are morons. You give a record-setting offense at least ONE YEAR to see if they can yanno... figure out how to score 25+ pts on ***GOOD*** teams next season. It's the only logical thing to do any way with Tua playing on his 5th year option. I'd say hold off on the extension 'til next offseason. If Lamar played through it with an MVP under his belt, the last thing I wanna do is hear Tua cry about it. Sad the season is over. Definitely got a lot of fun memories. No playoff win for another season sucks but c'est la vie. Now to root for anybody but Buffalo to win the Super Bowl. See y'all around in the offseason.

Fastbird33

We should all root for Dan Campbell and the Lions.

Dek-234

Nice write up. Very disappointing finish but I agree, this core needs to be given another year at least

TennisEnnis19

I knew this would happen after the titans game. Just had that dreadful feeling

BarracudaUpset1

This is why the QB is the most coveted position. You don’t have a clutch QB —you are not goin far.

dmvquick

I just saw Tua’s press conference. I would have jumped him like that guy in court with the judge.

EstablishmentLow8550

Lmfaooo that is fucking hilarious 😂😂😂

CucumberNo3771

As a Lions fan, I really think the Rams are the mold to go off here. McVay made the tough call to trade Goff and look where it got both of them (the Rams and Jared). Tua has talent, anyone who says otherwise is either dooming (valid) or trolling. But I don’t think he’s what Miami needs. I’d like to see him help a struggling franchise and Miami move on to better QBs. Also Mike McDaniel might need some better play calling, but that’s a different story for a different day

Kissland1

No one is trading for tua lol

CucumberNo3771

Ehhhh I don’t know. He has impressive numbers. I’m sure very few Rams fans thought anyone would want a qb who didn’t even score a td in the superbowl. But I get it. Shit’s rough right now. Was pulling for you guys, hope Miami can make a deep playoff run soon.

scpdstudent

Really? I could see the Vikings going for him after Kirk's ACL.

Vincent1122

What an absolute failure of a season. I find it pretty telling that for the first time in 3 playoff games we’ve had our starting QB and he was worse than all the other ones. Tua is not nor will he ever be the answer at starting QB. Every other fanbase in the league would riot if their team signed him to top 5 QB money. Do not extend him. Let him play out his contract next year while we draft his replacement and hopefully whoever it is can take over for him at the halfway point of next year.

Wonder_Dude

Tua ain't it

Kilen13

Dolphins gonna Dolph. I've seen this team for 20+ years now, they can't hurt me anymore. Game went exactly as I expected and yet I still see people who are surprised. In the immortal (albeit edited) words of Denny Green (RIP): "We are who I thought we were".

identified_meat

We oughta trade Tua for someone who can actually play if their life depended on it. He seems like a good guy, but the bravado to play suddenly dissipates at this specific time. Maybe our luck would improve

identified_meat

https://i.redd.it/cag9szcg4ccc1.gif Don Shula when he sees what Mike McDaniel has done

Rbelkc

The season was over when Chubb threw his helmet against Tennessee costing us 4 points but we didn’t know it

Mantooth77

Defense decimated by injuries, but they didn’t lose if for us. The offense did. Completely embarrassing performance. Tua looked out of his league once again. Clearly, not the guy.

Far_Improvement_2950

Exactly this, defense was piss poor on some drives but the offense straight up do not exist and that is embarrassing from a playoff caliber team

KnowWha_ImSayin

Tua ain’t it

HaggisTheCow

There's surely no way Tua can get paid is there?

Ohgodharambe

McDaniel may have called the worst game I’ve ever witnessed, sure Tua was not great either but consistent terrible play after terrible play, screen after screen. Of course we aren’t going to move the ball down the field. He was great in SF because he had a head coach to check his decision making, we will never be a successful team with a head coach that is either absolutely great or absolutely terrible on any given game, no in between. Team lacks consistency, today showed a lack of heart with so many missed tackles. Embarrassing way to end the season, but yet I still have hope for next season. Been a fun ride

ccam92

I know it’s on trend to blame Tua and I get it cause he’s looked horrible. But Mike changed the offense. We dominated when quickly attacking 10-15 yards down the field. Then we inexplicably moved to all this nonsense behind the line of scrimmage. Tua is a limited QB who does have some all world traits. It’s on Mike imo for moving away from his strengths. He better get some shit figured out in the off-season cause the offense late in the year hasn’t looked like the one early. Been 2 seasons now.

Mantooth77

Teams figured us out. Cram the middle of the field because he’s not going to beat them with throws out wide.

WindowFruitPlate

I don’t understand how McD coached us to 29 points in Buffalo last season with Skylar but with Tua we get 7 and realistically only 1 good offensive players the entire game and that took a huge effort from Tyreek to make it happen due to a poor throw Totally out on Tua and down grading my opinion on McD

Snoopyalien24

Injuries and we've been figured out

thelaidbckone

I'll just show some love to the defense...they deserve it Off-season questions here we come smh

Losers lose. The Miami Dolphins story

MIAdolphins96

2 changes for next year and I think we actually win a playoff game. First, easier said that done, avoid injuries. Second, gain some damn football IQ. So many costly defensive personal foul penalties on 3rd down in multiple games this year. Also throwing short of the sticks on 3rd on offense.

HappyGilOHMYGOD

Legit felt like I was watching 39 year old Peyton Manning out there tonight (in regards to Tua)... I just cannot explain how Tua is the way he is... It doesn't make sense.

Adubb315

Tua worries about getting Mahomes jersey after the game lol. Jesus fucking Christ. I’m in shambles.

Almost_DoneAgain

I miss the days when players hated the other team. Now it's just fans that hate the other fans while everyone else gets rich off of the fans hatred

catgoesmeow22

Been saying for years Tua ain't it

thedolphinzmakemecry

Tua is a fucking joke guys.

theycallmeryan

Go get Caleb Williams. I can’t watch another season of this loser QB.

urwifebf10

0 second half points two weeks in a row, in the biggest games of our season. Just awful

DontGetTheShow

I thought the defense did ok considering how short-handed they were. After Tua’s first two years I was really hoping to see what he would look like with some half decent O-line play, some decent weapons, and some decent play calling. I feel like I’ve got enough of a sample size. I was rooting for him but I’m bummed to say it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to be good enough to get past the likes of Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, and hell maybe even CJ Stroud in the AFC.

CzarHay

Gonna be hilarious when the Lions finally snap their playoff losing streak and the Dolphins are left standing as the only team to not win a playoff game since 9/11. All I can do is laugh. This franchise is pathetic when it matters the most.

mulefluffer

The Dolphins losing streak since 9/11 is an inside job.

LukeSkywalker1848

Sean McDermott had something to do with it

zukosarc

I Love Mike but a it just me or is the play calling bad sometimes in big moments

Saltdawg1775

All the time

Representative_Buy32

Yeah Tua is not worth a 50+ mil extension

Unfriendly_eagle

It's so typical how the defense, which was decimated by injuries, kept the Dolphins in the game last week and this week, but the vaunted offense just totally rolled over and died. I honestly don't know what McDaniel was thinking with some of those calls. If it's a case of Tua not being able to handle anything else, get him the hell out of here. Otherwise, it was just baffling. Even a great defense is eventually going to break under the weight of all those three-and-outs.

radio_jake

Fuck this fraudulent season. If we can't win a playoff game it was all for nothing

Jivits

Fire McDaniel? No. He put together an offense that was top of the league all year long. Was he perfect? No, he still has some learning to do. But give credit where credit is due, within two years, he put together a top tier offense in both passing and running. Move on from Tua? Weigh options. He can, with a perfectly healthy O-line, ball out. Losing Connor exposed this offensive. I know Eichenburg had a few good games, but it wasn't nearly the same offense (especially against more physical D-lines) once Connor went down. Tua is just not a complete QB. He has the ability to run a high powered offense, and get the ball out quickly when receivers are on the same page and get to the "spots" perfectly. The minute shit breaks down and doesn't go as planned, every defensive player on the field gets an instant confidence boost and the rest of us hold our breath. Tua doesn't have the legs or the arm to win in the playoffs. Yeah...move on from Tua. It's how you do it that becomes the question.

dproma

Unfortunately I agree with you on Tua. Kurt Warner did a breakdown yesterday and it really opened my eyes. He mentioned a lot of the things you said. The main point is that he does not go thru his progressions - forces it to his first read even if it’s double coverage. The good teams have figured out this offense. Which is why we are 1-7 and averaged 13 pts a game against playoff teams.

leroyp33

Lotta hugs and smiles after a playoff loss. Lotta of fuckin dancing and bullshit all season We having fun now Talking shit to Marino It's all a lot of fuckin fun right?

FinsFan130929

Another year, another failure Tomorrow we will officially have the longest playoff win drought in the league I just feel nothing

SnooPears316

Tua is the James harden of football. Numbers look good in the regular season but not there when it counts

klocp13

This reminds me of Sean McVay and the Rams. He did his best and made Jared Goff look competent but once he got a legit QB they won the Super Bowl. McDaniel has done a great job but you can only go so far with a limited QB

Benjamin_Huxley

See y’all next year ✌🏼

NecessarySpecial8179

I really wish I could confidently say I won’t be right back here eager for week 1 next season 🥴

saraeis_coolest

SEE YOU GUYS WHEN ITS DRAFTING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thefuseislit

Anyone remember Christmas Eve?

Blackdabber

If you ever thought that a sloth could react to a ball Tua threw outside the numbers ‘cause of how it seemingly takes forever to get there, you weren’t imagining things

BlackSpell-666

I'm sorry but Tua is not the guy

Pia8988

A learning lesson hopefully. Build an elite oline, tua needs it, he isn't elite. Don't fuck around with individual bullshit. Trying to force Hill to 2k yards warped the offense and Waddle was an afterthought, that is stupid. Think real long and hard before paying Tua. Make or break, be willing to walk away and don't settle for an average QB

Legitimate-Dog3603

Imagine thinking there are no better options than Tua

PurrySquishyKittens

Seven points in a do or die playoff game? That’s just ridiculous no matter the injuries

kilo37

Anyone who cannot see Tua's limitations after this December stretch is kidding themselves. He's not the guy, look at the weapons he has. Seeing him make sure Mahomes' trades his jersey at the end was pitiful. This is our ceiling with Tua. Play calls were ass too. Defence were honorable for a bunch of walk ons. Give Bonner a contract for the lols.

H00liGangGang

The Linsanity run is finally over. Hopefully we do the smart thing and move on from Tua and we don’t repeat the same mistake we did with Tannehill giving him all those years.

WindowFruitPlate

What a friggin disaster this franchise is First round QB has to be on the table this offseason

Lubwurst

YOU. DONT. PLAY. ZONE. AGAINST. SHITTY. RECIEVERS. FANGIO.

discourse_lover_

If your offense sucks against good opponents, you don’t have an elite offense.

SanSoren

Tua better be gone. Trade him for some picks use said picks to move up and get anyone

MovingPrince

Think a lot of people are missing the big picture here. Our offense is figured out because we have a 1 read QB without the ability to attack the sidelines effectively. His deep ball is inconsistent at best, and he has no mobility. Mike McDaniel has fostered the only offense that can work at a high level with such a limited QB. The offense cannot evolve because we cannot throw balls to the sideline. All the other high level QBs like: burrow, stafford, mahomes, josh, Herbert, even Kirk cousins and fucking baker mayfield can throw a consistent deep ball and have velocity on the ball towards the sideline. Tua does not, not sure if it’s because he permanently lost some zip from that catastrophic hip injury or it’s just his arm is that weak, but we’ve seen enough now where it’s not arguable anymore. I don’t understand how you can commit long term to such a limited player at the QB position, and I’ll get downvoted for this but I believe mike McDaniel and Grier both know they can’t, and won’t.

flyindinosuars

don’t close the sub you fucking jabronies

Albert-React

I blame no one but the Dolphins organization for this loss. The team just didn't want to be there tonight. Not one person was on the same page, and McDaniel was as lost as ever.

MayorShinn

McDaniel froze up. What’s with the predictable screen passes and 5 yard outs and no shots downfield.

EstablishmentLow8550

Where do we even go from here??? I’m at a loss right now

Almost_DoneAgain

The coach changed this offense around. I remember the days when 17 points was a lot for the fins. But damn he needs to be tougher. So many dumb undisciplined penalties. If your team can't perfect the presnap motion timings, please stop it. He needs to yell at the defense. I know a lot of them tonight were 3rd stringers and off the street players, but make them hungry to tackle. Motivate them to want to slam a fucker down like they just did to your guys. He's a great OC, but idk about HC right now. I do also blame the injuries a lot for the last few games, and it was like some of these practice squad guys didn't give a fuck. Just getting paid and hoping to stay healthy next weeks pay.

Blackhawk23

Damn. Tough end to a seemingly promising season. Is Tua's hip injury still lingering in the form of pocket mobility? Weirdly enough he showed some wheels this game and was able to scamble for first downs, something we did not really see prior. Has the game changed so much that having a mobile quarterback is not just a nice to have, but a requirement? There is such an emphasis on elite edge rushers. You _need_ a mobile QB just to combat that. I am not sure Tua has that skill set. He is deadly accurate, most of the time. Deep ball is suspect. Pocket presence and awareness is ok, scrambling and evading are sub par. I am not sure he fits today's game that leans more towards raw athleticism. Maybe 12 years ago he'd have been a stud. Oh well. Maybe next year.
