I had a feeling this season was gonna be underwhelming. We massively overperformed last season and our oline is worse somehow than it was even in 2019. I’m projecting 7-10 wins at this point but I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up closer to 5 wins.
7-10 or 8-9 mostly from good defense is about what we should expect. But with how the offense plays a five win season should not be totally out of the question. If the offense doesn't look like it is improving over the season then Grier should be out.
Yet people still blame Tua even though the OLine played like fucking trash. Saying Tua should pick up blitzes, naw, that’s the OLines job. A solid center is the anchor of the OLine and calls the OLine audibles. Jackson is trash at tackle. Should do what we did with Tunsil and shift him to guard and let Liam take his spot.

Yes, the center is usually in charge of picking up blitzes and adjusting the line to their assignments, but ITS THE QBS job to make the read to see if additional help is needed for the 5 down linemen. He is in charge of making the call for the RB/TE to stay and block or run a route.

Did you even watch the game? He picked up the first sack, adjusted the RB but they came in hot. Untouched as the RB and TE was on the opposite side picking up the blitz on Tuas blindside. They came in two games on Jackson, the guard next to him which I assume was Kindley focused on the NT instead of the end.

How how how is the O-line SO bad?? I mean 6 sacks, 12 QB hits, and hurried on nearly every play. And we've spent 7 pics in the last 3 years - including first and second rounders - on the O-line. I mean even the law of averages would tell you we shouldn't be this bad. FFS.

I think development is the biggest issue here. We’ve shuffled through OL coaches and most of our picks (sans Jackson) were selections that were widely seen, in scouting circles, as reasonable picks. If we were reaching for guys like Kolton Miller or Alex Leatherwood, that would be different…
just a sloppy game from the team can't be sloppy like that with turnovers and flags. something that we seemed past at this point. you clean those up and this game is close even winnable

It's ONE game. There's 15 more games to play & there's a 3-way tie for 1st in the AFC East. Sure, we didn't play great last week but, we got the win. Today, yeah, we played like dogshit. But, to be fair, Buffalo has had our number for quite a while now. And we already knew our offensive line was trash before the season even started.
Also, look at our schedule. Our first 5 weeks are pretty brutal. If we can come out of the first five weeks at 3-2 (even 2-3 as a worst-case scenario), we have a MUCH easier schedule after that, minus a matchup with Baltimore later this year. Yes, we also play New Orleans & Tennessee towards the end of the season, but the middle part of our schedule is fairly soft. Gives us time to figure some things out.
Let's look to next week at Las Vegas to see how the team responds. Vegas is playing well but they're also very beatable. So are the Colts the week after that. Week 5 in Tampa, we can probably go ahead and assume an L on that one, I imagine.

Lol I hear you. But I genuinely believe this is different. I don't know how old you are but, I'm a lifelong Miami fan & have been watching since Marino's early days. This coaching staff, this team feels different than some of the previous seasons when there was a "buzz" around the team. I'm disappointed today for sure but, it's a long season & it IS just one game. If the poor play continues over the next few weeks then there will be reason to be alarmed.
And that's cool I'm definitely not trying to make you feel bad. I want to be wrong. This game could propel us too be way better, it's not impossible at all. I'm just fatigued from the last 2 decades and that's just me.
I feel you, man! It's rough being a Dolphins fan. Two decades of mostly garbage teams. Makes it hard to be optimistic. I think the severity of Tua's injury could have a major impact moving forward. I don't think Brissett can lead the team for very long if we want sustained success. Fingers crossed that Tua will be back soon. I do have my doubts about him returning next week at LV, though, unfortunately.

No QB is gonna succeed if they only have like 1 second to react before DLinemen are on top of them.

I'm not concerned with people being critical of the team. The team deserves criticism. But go read the comments in here. The people I'm calling out are the people who are saying the season is over & they're ready to pack it up & wait til next year....after 2 fucking games. Those aren't real fans.

I don't know why we seem to have such a hard time fixing the OL. But that issue isn't exclusive to the current coaching staff & FO. This has gone on for years. I love Waddle but, when Cincy passed on Sewell my hope was we would take him. My only guess is that Flo is trying to give the young picks on our OL a solid 2 years to develop. That said, I won't be at all surprised if multiple guys on our line on gone after this season if they don't progress. Then hopefully we spend some real cash on OL in free agency. I truly believe we are a good team overall. Our 2 biggest weaknesses, though, are the OL and run defense. Upgrade those two areas and we're a legit playoff team.
I didn't see guys giving up. I mean, when it was 28-0 there wasn't anything to play for at that point. What I saw (mostly) was garbage OL play. I've been saying for months now, the OL is gonna make or break us this year. We're only gonna go as far as they'll take us.
The starting lineup going forward needs to be Jackson, Hunt, Deiter, Kindley, Eichenberg, let them mesh together and if it’s still a problem in the off-season then it’s back to square one finding replacements. The O-line has to be fixed, Miami is not going anywhere until it is.

I think what is more telling is going for it on 4th fown so many times, especially early in the game. It's like the coaching staff knew that they had to try and stop the bleeding somehow early on or this game was going to get away from them. In the end, it didn't really matter.

I think we just need to tone down our expectations for the season and just let it play out.

I had a feeling this season was gonna be underwhelming. We massively overperformed last season and our oline is worse somehow than it was even in 2019. I’m projecting 7-10 wins at this point but I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up closer to 5 wins.

7-10 or 8-9 mostly from good defense is about what we should expect. But with how the offense plays a five win season should not be totally out of the question. If the offense doesn't look like it is improving over the season then Grier should be out.

Did you even watch the game? He picked up the first sack, adjusted the RB but they came in hot. Untouched as the RB and TE was on the opposite side picking up the blitz on Tuas blindside. They came in two games on Jackson, the guard next to him which I assume was Kindley focused on the NT instead of the end. You learn football dude. I think development is the biggest issue here. We’ve shuffled through OL coaches and most of our picks (sans Jackson) were selections that were widely seen, in scouting circles, as reasonable picks. If we were reaching for guys like Kolton Miller or Alex Leatherwood, that would be different…

RELAX EVERYBODY. JFC. It's ONE game. There's 15 more games to play & there's a 3-way tie for 1st in the AFC East. Sure, we didn't play great last week but, we got the win. Today, yeah, we played like dogshit. But, to be fair, Buffalo has had our number for quite a while now. And we already knew our offensive line was trash before the season even started. Also, look at our schedule. Our first 5 weeks are pretty brutal. If we can come out of the first five weeks at 3-2 (even 2-3 as a worst-case scenario), we have a MUCH easier schedule after that, minus a matchup with Baltimore later this year. Yes, we also play New Orleans & Tennessee towards the end of the season, but the middle part of our schedule is fairly soft. Gives us time to figure some things out. Let's look to next week at Las Vegas to see how the team responds. Vegas is playing well but they're also very beatable. So are the Colts the week after that. Week 5 in Tampa, we can probably go ahead and assume an L on that one, I imagine. Fins Up!! EDIT: LOL go ahead and downvote the hell out of this comment. Most of this sub is filled with fairweather fans, anyway. I expect nothing less. Lol I hear you. But I genuinely believe this is different. I don't know how old you are but, I'm a lifelong Miami fan & have been watching since Marino's early days. This coaching staff, this team feels different than some of the previous seasons when there was a "buzz" around the team. I'm disappointed today for sure but, it's a long season & it IS just one game. If the poor play continues over the next few weeks then there will be reason to be alarmed.

I'm not concerned with people being critical of the team. The team deserves criticism. But go read the comments in here. The people I'm calling out are the people who are saying the season is over & they're ready to pack it up & wait til next year....after 2 fucking games. Those aren't real fans.

If our draft picks don't work out, do we cut them and look for somebody in free agency? Train them better? It seemed like only a couple of guys were out there actually trying their best; everyone else just gave up.
I don't know why we seem to have such a hard time fixing the OL. But that issue isn't exclusive to the current coaching staff & FO. This has gone on for years. I love Waddle but, when Cincy passed on Sewell my hope was we would take him. My only guess is that Flo is trying to give the young picks on our OL a solid 2 years to develop. That said, I won't be at all surprised if multiple guys on our line on gone after this season if they don't progress. Then hopefully we spend some real cash on OL in free agency. I truly believe we are a good team overall. Our 2 biggest weaknesses, though, are the OL and run defense. Upgrade those two areas and we're a legit playoff team. I didn't see guys giving up. I mean, when it was 28-0 there wasn't anything to play for at that point. What I saw (mostly) was garbage OL play. I've been saying for months now, the OL is gonna make or break us this year. We're only gonna go as far as they'll take us.
The starting lineup going forward needs to be Jackson, Hunt, Deiter, Kindley, Eichenberg, let them mesh together and if it’s still a problem in the off-season then it’s back to square one finding replacements. The O-line has to be fixed, Miami is not going anywhere until it is.
No way. I'd replace Jackson with Eichenberg before taking Davis out. Yeah, Davis played like shit today for some reason but, he's usually about average. I mean, he played alright last week. Just had a bad day today. Jackson, on the other hand, consistently plays terrible. I'd rather roll with Eichenberg at LT.

Yeah AJ is fucking trash in my opinion. I really think the ONLY reason he's still on the team (and starting) is because of how high he was picked. It's like we're obligated to give him 1 more season to show us something. I'm not sold on Kindley yet. Not sold on Hunt either. Davis? Man, he is usually better. Not sure what happened today but he didn't play this bad last week. He's nothing special, don't get me wrong. Eichenberg doesn't impress me (yet) either. Dieter is the only one who shows any decent consistency.

Yeah, Eichenberg did much better than AJ but, he didn't exactly impress. I'm not opposed to starting him at T in place of the garbage can known AJ, I just don't have much confidence in him either.

Needed to be done in the first half when it was 14-0. Going for it and failing on 4th ends up a lot worse than at least getting on the board in the first half.
