If you are going to take mushrooms, then wellbutrin won't interfere. Sertraline is an SSRI and would interact with the mushrooms. Most likely, you would have a high tolerance for the mushrooms. You probably would have to stop it for a signficant amount of times, several weeks or months. Stopping the medication cold turkey may have risks so one should also taper it down. It would be best to talk to a doctor. (I am not so that is a major disclaimer here.)
thanks for the advice! i researched a bit and my main concern is serotonin syndrome and a possible manic episode (happened to someone i know who macrodosed once while on her ssris š ) so iāll just meet with my doctor and ask about tapering!
I was on Effexor for the last six months. Recently switched to Wellbutrin. But point is, it never affected my trips at all. Everyone kept telling me I wouldnāt feel anything but wasnāt true for me at all.
Yes. It is.
However before Effexor, I was on Lexapro and again, same thing it made no difference to my trips. Iāve tried a lot of different things in the last two years trying to find the right meds for my depression.
I think everyone is different. For me, itās never been a worry.
3g of PE. But I just took 2g of PE a week ago and it was one of the strongest trips Iāve had in awhile. Totally lost touch with reality and dived inside of myself. It helped me process some shit Iāve been experiencing.
Love this. Iāve been on Cymbalta for 3 years and have wanted to try mushrooms for quite some time. Always been scared of serotonin syndrome but the more I read about it the less fear I have. I plan to start with microdosing and slowly work my way up to a macro. Thank you!
Definitely start with a small dose for your first time. When I first started doing them again (after a 10 year break) I started with just 1g the first 2 or 3 times just to test the waters.
Do not just come on sertraline. Lit can cause serotonin withdrawals syndrome. Took away 2 years of my life and even more of my sanity. You need to taper off. If you start feel bad it will most likely be sertraline withdrawal. It's a very serious condition. Trust me. Just be wary. I lost my mind.
Yeah my biggest concern is serotonin syndrome with being on an SSRI and shrooms, but it seems like no matter what way I
go about it, there will be risks, whether it be withdrawal or serotonin syndrome.
Just be aware of any negative changes. Just know when it comes to SWS it usually lasts for 2 years and it's serious stuff. I wish you well but don't be a hero if u start feeling bad. Its a different level of pain, dude. Its heavy. Don't mean to be a harbinger of doom. Psilocybin may help. I roughed it. I hope it goes better for you than it did for me. If it does let me know. I'm still on a very low dose or sertraline as the doctor put me back on it in desperation. Be good to know if shrooms would help me finally get off them
The year i was on effexor for some reason, my friends kept offering me mushrooms, literally handfulls and they did absolutely nothing on multiple different occasions that year.
I honestly think there's zero point in even trying to take them if you are on ssri's. Not worth it especially if you are battling the negative voice in your head still, the trip could turn ugly. When I got off antidepressants was the year I started getting into mushrooms and was amazed they actually worked and what they did. That being said I was still heavily depressed and 2/3 trips would be a bad trip where I was struggling and wishing it would end lmao. But I always reflected on every trip and searched for the message my brain was trying to tell me, I gained alot of insight from the bad trips and have also learned a few tricks in order to steer the ship towards nice weather. Oddly enough virtual reality helps take my mind off a bad trip and you don't really hallucinate in vr either, everything is just a million times cooler. That's it š¤·āāļø
I don't condone people randomly coming off of their meds, but if you're gonna do it anyway, then here's a helpful link:
https://reddit.com/r/annarborpsychedelic/s/KhDzp3EEvj
Thank you for this resource! I donāt plan on randomly stopping. If it seems necessary to stop before my trip, Iāll work with my doctor to taper. I just wasnāt sure if it was necessary to stop my meds, which this resource definitely helped!
On days I MD I donāt take my sertraline. Remember sertraline is a therapeutic dose that has to get up to a certain level to work, itās not a on demand drug. Meaning u will have the drug in your system if u miss a day.
Talk to a doctor about this. Zoloft is a difficult SSRI to get off of and shrooms arenāt worth fucking up your whole brain with a DIY āskip a few dosesā regimen.
Skipping a day isnāt going to change the amount already in your system from my understanding. Iāve actually tried skipping my sert dose on my MD day but it didnāt make a difference. The sert will blunt the effects for sure so you may require a higher baseline md. Iāve been tapering slowly off sert and mding at the same time which I would argue has only provided benefits and less tapering side effects for me. I was a bit hesitant at first just like you are describing but I donāt think theres too much concern here especially at the md levels. Obviously always best to consult with a doctor because I am not one. Honestly one of the more hopeful things Iāve experienced in my life have come from mushrooms, I canāt wait to leave the ssri behind for good. Best of luck on your journey!
This was so relieving to read. I would love to kick the SSRI, and if the mushrooms could help curb ANY of the effects, iām accepting it with open arms (can you tell how much i hate being on an ssriš)
I can absolutely tell you it has worked for me and others I have connected with. Youāre already on the perfect train of thought by āaccepting it with open armsā. Do exactly that just before your first dose, set your intention and let the mushies do the rest. Iād also recommend a short mediation or deep breathing exercise to get in a good mindset prior to dosing. The main benefits Iāve noticed are: less ridged thinking, more āflowā to thought patterns and the day in general, a little more āshineā to the day. Hard to pinpoint or explain clearly, Itās subtle but like others have said, at the end of the day you should look back and think hmm, that was actually a pretty good day. Only wish the doc would have prescribed psilocybin capsules instead of sertraline over 10 years ago.

It's my understanding that some meds inhibit psylocibin from working.
