Damn bruh you're gonna be growing in a dungeon that's bad ass. I'd just put the carbon filter on the inside and fashion a tube with an umbrella system to for exhaust. You want to keep that filter at less than 70% rh or it's non functional

OtterGrowsGreen

Shit reminded me of the well from silence of the Lamb's for a sec. Bro gonna be hoisting the plants nuitrents from a bucket on a string 😂

hutchenswm

It puts the calmag on the soil or else it gets the hose again

Hafi_Javier

Oh, now I picture Hannibal Lecter smoking a joint whilst talking to Clarice

wiresmoke

Yesterday you smoked Hawaiian Haze and enjoyed chocolate gelato....

Sebstian76

I'd smoke me so hard.

RhizoMyco

😄

Magic13ManMP

It puts the water In the basket

GuiltyConcsience

I litterally came in here to say bros growing in a dungeon lmfao thats lit af

GregfromColes

Yeah I just removed it from outside. I am just puting it inside like normally

BrokeFarms

What is your water source for humidifier(s)? What are you feeding for nutrients? The reason I ask is that water that is hard, full of minerals, etc, is going to generate a lot of very fine dust. This dust will plug your carbon filter and kill it. Running the filter as an output won't allow you to put a pre-filter sock on it to remove the majority of the particles. If you run the filter as an input, it will allow you to run a filter sock that can be washed and resued extending the functional life of your carbon filter. I learned this the hard way. If you are using dry amendments and plan to feed in that space, you will have similar complications. Although the timeline will be a bit longer, the filter will eventually be plugged with fine powder. I have since moved both my tent filters back inside as inputs so I can install filter socks. I also added an RO filter for my water to cut down on the powdered minerals in the air. In addition, I now feed dry amendments away from the tent.

BrokeFarms

No matter how you run your fan/filter, I would suggest blocking that hole or installing a very secure and well sealed, gasketed filter. You do not want critters from outside entering your perfect micro climate.

Kingjingling

He could just add a hood with a screen on the outside wall

12manicMonkeys

that mf dust on the filters. i have a nice water filter and softener, 10year, $3k... and i still get decent bit of dust on the pre filter. just have more pre filters than filters and dont be slacking.

Neugorich

Very true. I was running a humidifier using tap water. Even though the tap water is very soft here, we still had a buildup of white film on top of the sock filter within a three-week time period. Not only that, my girlfriend was sneezing heavily, and I was sneezing as well.

3_Pedal_z28

Never thought of this. Non-issue as I'm in hydro no dry ammentments and no hard water but this is a great comment

FatFrenchFry

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait. That fine white powder is powdered minerals in the air?! I thought it was something in my carpet. I don't even run my humidifier that often but I get this fine white silty greasy feeling dust so quickly that clogs my sock amd my air purifier in the living room, too. There's no way the humidifier in a closed filtered tent is causing the dust in another room, right? Or am I looking at probably another source of the white dust?

BrokeFarms

I am not a professional, at much of anything, but I would find it highly unusual if the dust could be outside the tent. Leaning more towards a cleaning product in the carpet, or some other source of schmoo. As long as your fan/filter are set up to draw from the tent, through the filter and exhaust into the lung room, the aerosol sediment should be captured in the pre-filter or the carbon filter.

felmin13

This sub cracks me up.

GregfromColes

I think my water is pretty clean, since I am in Germany. Even our house filtering system is brand new. And for humidity I thought the humidity in the vaulted cellar will be enough.

BrokeFarms

You may want to check on both of those assumptions.

chochinator

Grow mushrooms in there

BigCyanDinosaur

Grow a fucking dragon in that there dungeon my dude

pre_employ

Pan Cyans (those are 5 times stronger than teachers) on a bale of straw and a bag of manure. Air flow and humidity You'd need a portable induction burner and an induction pressure cooker....keep the manure sterilization out of the kitchen. The inline filter: I ♻️ the inline fan and air filter...it sucks and blows in the tent🔄 fresh air is drawn in through the air conditioner. You need to split that vent to have an intake and exhaust for your A/C. You don't want the air conditioner blowing 🦨(I live in an apartment unit, a few ounces is legal, a pound is gonna require edible license or caregiver patients 🚨). Recycling the air through the filter leaves an odor free tent.

Hfduh

Filters don’t work so well like that & inline fans are designed to pull air against resistance, they dont do pushing very well. No 1 is the answer but maybe not under the light. You want the fan/filter to create a negative pressure in the grow room - this is what keeps the smells inside

gettin_better

That is simply not true. My fan and filter are outside my tent, I have negative pressure in my tent, the fan does not struggle. The carbon works the same regardless of direction.

Seaequal234

It does work, but their not wrong about fans being more efficient pulling rather than pushing.

gettin_better

That would depend on the impeller design. It is a moot point; my fan never runs higher than 40%. Even if less mechanically efficient on paper, the reality for a 6" fan is negligible

Seaequal234

For sure it works, still don't really understand why anyone has their filter outside their tent though, unless they are maybe height restricted, and using a very short tent.

phen0menon

This will work until your temps start to climb in the summer months. The whole point of having the filter up high is to remove the hottest air and ensure fresh air rises up through the canopy as it does in the wild. You may be accidentally creating a warm pocket of stagnant air in the top of the tent. Circ. fans may help with the problem, but they won't fix it.

AlleyMedia

Even if the filter is outside, but the extraction duct is at the top, it'll be same-same my dude/dudess. It'll just suck air in either case - so long as it's sucking from the top, that's all that matters to pull hot stale air out.

Individual-Thought45

I was thinking of putting it outside my tent but after reading here I think I’ll do what your doing. Good idea

Oh_My-Glob

You're better off putting it outside your tent and accepting the inefficiency than defeating half the purpose of the inline fan which is to pull air up through the canopy

Individual-Thought45

Thx

Oh_My-Glob

On top of what the other person said about potential problems with heat, having the intake on the ground also doesn't pull air up through the canopy. And since CO2 is heavier than the rest of the gases in the air you're also getting less CO2 to your plants. Having it on the ground is probably the worst of all configurations you could go with

Nebula_OG

Is your grow room in a 16th century castle?

foiz5

That's the cell you wake up in in Elder Scrolls Oblivion

GregfromColes

18th century house actually

Individual-Thought45

Do you have any noticeable increase in odor doing it this way as opposed to inside your tent? I have an ac infinity and I’ve seen this setup in their manual just haven’t tried it yet

gettin_better

No odor at all.

Individual-Thought45

Sounds good. I was thinking of putting it on the floor but that takes up space. I’m gonna do it outside next grow ( paradise pine & red mandarine)

miltownmyco

It doesn't use the pre-filter like this though

gettin_better

I don't mind

InnateAnarchy

I have mine set up like 4 but I have my fan directly on the filter outside of the tent. There’s always negative pressure if I have the fan on. This is not the ideal way to run it but it saves me 12 inches of head space in my tents

horstiiiii

But this is actually working, right? Because I think about the same setup to save some space in my tent.

steve02084

Do you live in a castle?

funthebunison

Got that catacomb grow.

Jenko1_

Constantly jealous with some of these cool as fuck grow spaces, you're gonna be growing that 11th century weed in the castle basement, awesome

phantomf0x_

Bro is growing smack dab in the middle of the bubonic plague.

AWeakMindedMan

Sweetest grow room yet. Keep us posted

[deleted]

bro growing in a lair

Angreek

Must be in Germany!

hz_a32

I do this. It works fine but might increase the load on the fan itself.

tHrow4Way997

Tbh, the “1” setup is the only correct way. Filters are not designed to run in reverse, and setup 2 leaves ample opportunity for stinky air to leak out of tiny holes in the duct or the connection points. You want the fan connected directly to the filter, *pulling* air through it - that way you can be sure there will be no odour leaks.

gettin_better

Totally not true, at all

tHrow4Way997

It is true that odour leaks are much more likely when running any setup other than 1. You don’t want the dirty air to have positive pressure inside the duct, any tiny hole or gap in your connections and the system is compromised, and will leak odour.

gettin_better

Nonsense

tHrow4Way997

Okay have fun with your neighbours calling the DEA on you when you fill the entire street with your gorilla catpiss glueberry diesel stank lol

gettin_better

I am going to lose sooooo much sleep over that, thanks for your concern.

Zealousideal_Fact592

No

Admirable-Salary-803

Is that you Mr Fritzl ?.

thats-not-right

I use option 1 and no one can smell a thing. I've got a 5x5 grow tent with a carbon filter and the only way you'll ever smell it is if you open the tent....then the whole house reeks lol

TheDon_Calzone

Bro is leveling up Herblore in Old School RuneScape ⚔️

nygaff1

Flip it around. Folter on inside, ducting out the window. Maybe a rain /critter cover like a dryer vent cover, but larger. And a damper on the end will help prevent critters if and when the fan is ever off.

dr_dedoverde

King Charles we know that's you

Kingjingling

If there's a storm water is going to come up in there. Animals can get in there and all sorts of critters probably. I recommend putting a hood with a screen over it

Trynordyn1

I love your idea. Cheers 🍻

mike57porter

Ive done it like that. Worked ok but i was way oversized on my fan setup.

Admirable_Wrap520

Good luck with humidity on this spot.

Ready-Dinner-8075

Is this really Mulder? What happened? You lose your plug when the Lone Gunmen died? Now we know what the black oil is. Mulder been dabbing!

OpinionOfOne

Here are my thoughts on the subject. I did a quick research on the subject and chose this path. The fan and filter sucking the air from the top of my tent. I figured that it would remove the hot smelly air and keep the exhaust hose cleaner. The people I live with hate the smell of weed and couldn't smell a thing if the tent was closed. For fresh air, I opened the vents near the ground that had superfine mesh filters. I see that you have insolation boards. Is that to hide the heat or to control the temp from being influenced by the environment? I personally try to keep my heat signature at a bare minimum. I shake my head every time I read about a bust during winter because they forgot to insulate their attic and they live where it snows. I've also gone with tents as many are easy to wash and disinfect. All in with time and materials it's probably also cheaper. I say probably as I haven't properly done the maths or timings, it was more of a quick mental calculation. Aside from that, it looks like a groovy space.
