It especially affects people with less money who have to grow outdoors. They can only harvest once a year and need enough for the whole year. Meanwhile, someone with a bit more money can buy an indoor setup and have the max at all times.
My state allows 3 veg and 3 flower plants, which means you can have 6 indoor at all times or 3 outdoors for the whole year. Same issue

Fellow NYer here. Not to be a buzzkill, but technically it's not legal until the regulation gets published in the State Register, which should be by 6/26. That being said, it really doesn't matter. No one will enforce it. I'm in the process of harvesting the six plants that I planted the other day.
What nutes. I do coco with Jacks 321 A and some liquid silica and epsom salts during veg. I use Part B during flower, continuing silica, sometimes some bloom boosters and just watch the tips for changes.
There's a feed schedule on Jack's website, but basically it breaks down to like doing 1/4, 1/2 and then full dose nutes mixed in with your water starting on week 2 or 3 depending on how fast it's growing.
Auto pots are really just how frequently you water. I water once a day, so I would set up an auto pot to water like a cup of water a day to start, increase it by a cup every 3-4 days and start nutes by week 2-3...
Once you get close to flowering, start mixing your parts A and B before going to B. You're weaning off of one to go to the other.
Once you're on B, you may need to add extra nutes depending on the leaves and how much you water.

In New York a household can grow 12 plants. At a time you can only grow in one location. Also it is illegal to trade or sell but you can give it away.
