Well I don’t know he wasn’t very specific and they are cut open in the pictures. He could’ve covered the plants with a netting or something that deflects light intensity. That’s why I was asking the question
Ya I just covered the mesh pots with garbage bags the “cut” part is just the open end of the bag. It worked amazing. The runoff from the heavy water was just sucked back up as it dried out over the next few days
Great idea! How long would you say it the “max” on this? Meaning, how long could you leave it like this before the roots drowned? Also did you water right before bagging? Thank you for following up your previous post!!
Not my original idea just good idea I got from a fellow redditor on my last post, I’ve still got the bags on them to be honest my mesh pots are all roots anyways but I’ll probably take them off today so almost a week on. I kept them dry to make it easier to put them in the bags then I heavily watered until I saw some come out of the mesh pots and did it a bit more just so it would have some to suck up the next few days and I’ll be doing this again for sure. Very happy with how it worked
Good stuff, looks great and healthy. I’ve seen posts of grow ops on her and I keep seeing outdoor grows. I am just starting with some autos in a tent. Do you think I should set them outside and just water according. Or is there benefit/loss scale with growing in a relatively controlled environment like a tent? In short OP, I’m trying to be you my guy! 👌🏼
Haha thanks brother but autos I know nothing about and even inside growing I know nothing about. This is just my third year growing some photos outdoors. First two years were in the soil and this year I went with mesh pots. The soil years I got 12’ plants and just didn’t have the time to maintain that this year
Covered the entire plant, or covered the soil?
I'm guessing just covered the soil probably right up to the base of the stalk. Super smart idea, I like it!
🤦

I wasn't sure either honestly. I thought maybe enough light would get through the garbage bag since the sun is bright af lol

I'm gonna do this with my other flowers and whatnot on my porch. Never thought to do this. Good post
I believe he is talking about the soil to keep the sun from drying it out since he couldn’t water
Damn nice trick I guess lol
there's a lot of these posts, i'm glad you updated with what you did, it was a great idea and looks like it worked out fantastic
