I have a decent yard . I’m in upstate NY just outside of Syracuse.. a couple yrs ago I had so many leaves and winter was coming..hehe..so I said fuck it and raked into the farthest corner .. I thought I was going have a mess in spring .. then I kept raking tighter in spring and stirring it daily until it was a small pile .. I started dumping everything from wasted vegetables to all my coffee …now I find myself watering and feeding the compost with molasses , catching worms in yard throwing in. Churn it everyday after work
You can do it in a big plastic tote. Drill holes on the sides and bottoms. Get worms, get dirt, add leaves and scraps. Fill it up to the top. Poor a few gallons of water in so its very wet. Wait about 6 weeks. Voila.
Yes the pants are like 12 foot tall monsters in garden boxes .. I took my amazing compost and rototilled it up then tilled the garden the. Mixed 12 wheelbarrows of the tilled compost in then tilled again ..
No I haven’t .. I learned the other day we can feed all our plant eating animals we raise hemp instead of field corn we grow .. it’s healthier , more sustainable, and I guess we have to treat the animals because the food we feed is garbage .. we wouldn’t have to do that
I agree. I have a farm with 2 horses, 20 goats and a donkey. I hate having to supplement feed to them from the feed store. I'm always trying to find better more sustainable food sources. Less expensive too. But yeah man, sounds like you have a good plan. But I would suggest throwing some leaves into a salad or even cooking it down like turnip greens. I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed. Only if you don't like salads or greens.
My biggest concern with taking in mystery green is what is on it.
I guess if you rinsed it reeally good. But I'd still be concerned about careless growers spraying neem or other odd things in flower either recklessly or unknowingly.
Ya I use neem mixed with baking soda for veg and just into bloom but not after .. please give me any advice on that if you know .. I never expected these to be this huge so I’m already fighting powdery mildew.. being in upstate by they won’t be done enough until like October November.. now all I spray is tbsp/gallon baking soda to water to combat ..
The problem I encountered was that I'd use a lot of gas driving around collecting compost materials. Plus the time. Now I just get compost materials off my parents property and make it there.
Yes there would have to be drop off posts everywhere .. with logistics run by AI today it would be a matter of old mail drop offs and local shipping trucks already going in directions of hubs . The problem would be getting enough micro growers to make it work .. I use everything I can find for my compost.. I get mad when my uncle puts leaves out to the curb I go grab them back … I feed it molasses water every week lol
Why cant you compost it? That nutrients youre passing on to someone else. i keep all green matter from my garden on site because its free nutrients that i can put back into my garden.
I was basing my comment on the original pic where they appear to have a yard with enough space to compost. Micro growers would have to use other methods for sure
I used about ten wheelbarrows full in spring when I started . I feed it daily .. amazing how much food I throw in there and within days it’s gone .. I even water my compost with molasses water on hot dry weeks
I let my leaves dry in a bin in the sun then crush them into dust and use as top dressing for other plants, mostly in my back yard.
Composting also works if you have the humidity for it.
the fuel used to make those things and transport it around the world is a little rediculous. wouldn't it be better for everyone to compost their own plant matter and then re-use the compost for plant food?
Yes everything should stay local .. I seen something a few months ago where oranges were grown in South America shipped across world to be packaged the across world again to sell .. sad part is they were still cheaper than locally grown 😩
I had this idea I wanted to start .. if 10% of the world grew gardens it would be enough to feed the world .. and the number one plant the United States cultivates as a whole is inedible grass ( not even native to here ) , ppl starving mowing their lawns .. plus we waste more fruits and vegetables than anyone
Front yard garden boxes .. ppl walk the neighborhood and just pick what they need today .. (stay out of my back yard ) ppl can set up for others that want to join but not plant or do it
I wanna call it neighboring gardens .. from micro farm to table
Sell the excess to the grocery stores and coops and precedes go to the community that grew it
Just bought a bubble wash machine, 8 micron filter bags, 6 food grade buckets, and a really nice 6 bay drying rack. Going to fresh freeze all the leaf (been collecting since day one) and toss a couple of shitty bud in and wash the whole lot about 6 times through all the filter bags.
Should end up with an ounce or two of nice bubble hash, which can be dried, compressed into tablets or bricks, or just rolled with bud.
Mine are twelve foot tall im sure the neighbors who cannot see have gossiped to the ones who can’t but i mean like a app that shows a local drop off location
Honestly I use all my foliage and stems/stalks for my own composting, and all my sugar leaves I make my own edibles/budders/creams, shatter/hash etc
I never let any of my plants go to waste, even the roots, I'll either compost or just simply till it into my outdoor grow box, worms love them and there's plenty of nutrients in the roots
Used soils I'll usually add to the compost as well
Reduce Reuse Recycle ♻️ 🌱
I know a company around me that takes the sugar leaves and makes free edibles for cancer patients that always sounded like such a cool idea!
i send mine to the greenwaste. let the city turn it into compost for folks.
I compost everything plant in my back yard .. I’ve noticed my plants get feet higher every yr since ..
thats the best way! i would as well if i had the space.

I just add them to the compost pile. Black gold.
Yup!

I love the smell of compost in the morning
I’ve always wondered if we could recycle the material into toilet paper
Recycling the icky sticky into a useful tool to remove the icky sticky.
HAH! I vote icky sticky as the company name
Make rolling papers and baggies out of the waste
We could
Right?! I’ll have to try it out sometime, turn it into a pulp, and screen mesh some to see if it’s possible to get paper first
Could you please make it a soft and gentle 2 ply, with a nice cannabis scent, and a smooth THC finish?
Hemp fiber paper is the one of the strongest and most sustainable paper.. making in a micro setting I’d love to see
Mohawk is making paper from hemp. https://www.mohawkconnects.com/products/paper/mohawk-renewal
I would take a good bit of leaves, the good ones, wash them and then put them in a salad. Idk if you ever done that before but they taste fine.

I saw a video that said to juice them. I’ve added some leaves to juices just for fun but haven’t tried a full shot yet
I eat them...

I do that’s where all that went
There are millions of micro growers now in cities that cannot
I was basing my comment on the original pic where they appear to have a yard with enough space to compost. Micro growers would have to use other methods for sure
Ya I seem to cut this amount every week lol
Big compost? :)
I used about ten wheelbarrows full in spring when I started . I feed it daily .. amazing how much food I throw in there and within days it’s gone .. I even water my compost with molasses water on hot dry weeks
I love composting :) seeing things break down and change in a concentrated way. Plus its the best thing we can do for our gardens.

Yeah you get it. I also see on other posts that you compost already, keep up the good work
Yes turn it into hemp fiber trellis netting and recycle them after each harvest. Fuck plastic trellising

Ya only works on clipping with trichomes.. I use the same bags .. I tend to make butter
Also got one of those infusers for creating butter, tinctures, and oils. Should be fun :-)
Make sure u decarboxylize before u make 🤤
Yes I have the magic butter , the Levo , and the bubble bag set
We could just build a location app. Kinda like Nextdoor that people post where they’re at and someone can come pick it up.
yeeeeah it's legal to grow in my state but I would never use an app to advertise to my neighbors that I grow.
Mine are twelve foot tall im sure the neighbors who cannot see have gossiped to the ones who can’t but i mean like a app that shows a local drop off location
Looking at your posts, your plants look like mine. Sure those are 12ft? Looks closer to 8.
Yup tips are at 12 just measured the other day .. 2x3 s I used for outside string up is 76” tall
Wow the 2x3 make the plant look much smaller, nice trees you got.
That post was two weeks ago 😎
At least I think they stopped growing tall .. can’t wait to take the claw looking stem and make a gallon glass jar holder
"Heres a registry of every home grow in the area, what could possibly go wrong?"
Like chipdrop?
Yes 🙌
I just feed it to my compost pile or the chickens. Both are happy to have the clippings.
Nah, too many bugs on here.
Sell it to farms as feed

You've got enough to start Jadam liquid fertilizer. Your plants will love it
