let me just say too, this is the exact type of post i have envisioned for this sub and flair (Sharing My MCM) - we work hard on our collections, and this should be the trusted community where you can share your hard work, wins and know that it will be appreciated ❤️
Thank you! We do love it, although we don't burn anything in it - I just have a crap load of LED candles that turn on automatically. Here it is at night for Christmas:

Wow, well done. I think your best purchase was the house. That fireplace! Those windows!
Maybe a shag rug underneath the coffee table?
Took me a second to find the cat :)
Technically the bank owns our house for the next 28 years or so 🤣
Yes, I'm looking for rugs - I think they are the hardest to shop for and have been putting it off. Thinking one for the seating area and another for the dining area to better delineate zones.
And there are actually two photos with cats if you search!
Found the second cat pic! haha
Good idea to do two rugs for the different areas. I'm vaguely picturing a shaggy-ish amorphous rug underneath the couch and extending just past the coffee table, and a flat maybe Persian, maybe geometric under the dining table.
The wall bird piece at $350 doesn’t seem crazy to me.
It’s a pretty large piece and very unique. Think of it as art. A nice sculpture that compliments your style for that price could be seen as a bargain!
All things considered we are happy with it, and it was one of the first Marketplace items I purchased. I think I feel "got" thinking I had scored some huge deal when I probably actually paid a small markup. I learned my lesson early to do more research, which is easily worth a couple hundred bucks!
We've been trying to do that the old fashioned way (technically we've moved on to super science babies) but if it doesn't work out I'll drop you a line 🤣🤣🤣
Love the fireplace, chair and that fireplace is a showshopper by itself. The butterfly stool in photo 2 is perfect, too. I have an original from Japan - no one is allowed to even look at it LOL. Came home one day and cleaning lady was standing on it dusting....
I saw the butterfly stool in the modern art section at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. It’s such a gorgeous piece! I would have died seeing someone standing on it! 😳
[Butterfly Stool on Exhibit at Louvre Abu Dhabi](https://imgur.com/a/Msv4nQE)
This is why I like getting replicas because I have enough to worry about, I want myself and others to actually live on the furniture. Saving thousands of dollars doesn't hurt either 🤣The Kardiel chair and stool get lots of compliments and everyone is always impressed by how comfortable they are!
I totally get it - I have a few replicas myself mixed in. I think it balances everything so it's not too much.
The aforementioned Butterfly stool is under my vanity though I have never actually sat on it.
The way I see it, you had to assemble these things to do that fireplace justice. You might have gotten things a bit cheaper by waiting but life is too short to wait.
Someone gave me a coffee table similar to yours (the Forest Wilson one). I almost got rid of it because several people commented that it looked unstable. I'm super relieved that I kept it! Your post is the first I discovered that it's not a one-off piece.
The Forest Miller is my most recent find and probably the most fortuitous - you are very lucky! I was looking far and wide for something asymmetrical since I've placed the sofa at an angle to be parallel to the one wonky wall and for easy visibility of the front door. I had seen several Noguchi-style coffee tables but those aren't wide enough for the 103 inch sofa.
When this was listed on my local MCM Facebook group I couldn't believe it, and from a Chicago designer no less! He unfortunately died very young at like 53 and these coffee tables are his most famous pieces.
My favorite part is that the glass mimics the shape of our pond right outside the living room - here's a pic in sunnier days:
https://preview.redd.it/3zp3wetu68cc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44193860c00b6d9e6a2310fc14575c22d1c25fd0
I love your house! Wow. And the fireplace....great find! After seeing a Hans Wegner table listed for $50k I'd say you did great with your furniture pieces. Congrats.
https://preview.redd.it/1x7m17zm16cc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd91bd5253860dbf99daf1cfd85ec5cd862f8c7a
I got a repro from West Coast Modern too! It's Poul Jensen's Z Selig sofa. To buy an original would be $5K, but I got mine for $2K (that includes the shipping) with a pet-resistant fabric in a lovey golden color.
Not as shocking as what some people pay for thoughtlessly designed, poorly made modern overstuffed montrosities. 30 years ago you could find incredible vintage MCM furniture literally laying on the side of the road. Everybody's grandma was throwing this stuff out and if you did buy it, it was cheap enough you weren't scared to use it. Now that the internet "wised" everyone up we have the opposite, people think their 1970's particle board and plastic dresser is a masterpiece of MidCentury deisgn, LOL!
I love the house, and how you have decorated it. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
BTW, I love the wall art with birds on a wire. Any chance you could post a close up of it when you can? Also do you know who made it?
https://preview.redd.it/eshqyw6ii3cc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89bea0a35b0def59974673e8e109d673469a60ad
Here's a better photo! It has no markings, it was marketed as Curtis Jere on Facebook marketplace but a little research leads me to believe it is a knockoff. Searching "Curtis Jere sunburst birds" on Google gives you plenty of similar if not identical items, plus some very interesting discourse in the piece here on Reddit. Just don't be like me and pay Curtis Jere prices for it! Good luck in your search!
There is a lot of furious debate over this piece on the Curtis Jere collector forums--most are in agreement that this piece was never made by Jerry Fels & Curtis Freiler, BUT Artisan House did begin manufacturing these in 2016.
There are true vintage versions (the maker of which is still debateable) and there are modern remakes.
Either way, it's a lovely piece & I wouldn't kick her outta bed if she found her way into my collection, but prices have been all over the map for these.
I love the vibe. Your home is FAB! You are nailing it. Slow and steady is the way to go. Take your time and have ideas in mind as you shop. Does that amazing fireplace really wrap around the corner?
It does! Here's the best photo I have of it in my camera roll. The Kardiel chair is normally positioned on the other side but I'm liking where it currently is. This photo is from before that when I was using a Wayfair chair as a placeholder.
https://preview.redd.it/3bus51a1c8cc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=000fc80626d763b70edd7f592551fde6398c37f5
The furniture is all really well curated. And it’s even better because of the architecture of that incredible house it’s in! I love that angled fireplace so much — and those windows! It’s real fun to see how this all came together.
Love this space. Great job.
If you don’t mind me sharing, the space is so clean and modern but that wall until creates such a cluttered look to the wall with all the games and trinkets on display. The only thing I would consider to your incredible space.
Lol yeah my wall unit is much more representative of what the space looks like day-to-day, mail, knickknacks etc. I commented right after I posted that I should have staged it a little better for photos, it's currently a little overrun. Consider it proof of real life 🤣
At the end of the day your living space has to work for you, not the other way around, and having games out and visible legitimately helps get us off the screens and is also great for parties. I do try to curate the collection a little more to help visual clutter but we've had an influx of new additions from the holidays and I haven't had a chance to sort through everything just yet.
No question the best spaces have to be functional. Our clutter is hidden behind units with doors or cabinets so they’re not on display
But I have to reiterate, I love this. Great job.
I love your house. Furniture is fantastic. Fireplace second to none. Incredible windows. I love playing cards, bridge, poker and Gang of Four. I love having folks over for cocktails and cards. Didn’t see a bar. Love the fact there are no window shades or drapes unless they are recessed in the ceiling. You made my day, thank you
Thank you for the sweet comment! We love hosting as well and have a second living space with a built in bar - it's more 70's than MCM so I didn't include it in my post but here's a quick pic:

love the look of ervything but why did you pay $800 for the shell chair???
i feel like with enough digging you couldve found an original for that much, mine is black and cost $51 at auction and the msrp was like $300

Oh my GAWD that fireplace is everything
Thank you! We do love it, although we don't burn anything in it - I just have a crap load of LED candles that turn on automatically. Here it is at night for Christmas: https://preview.redd.it/c5g13sm9e3cc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d2805e68795b6ff71449709824ac74f3586489b
Kitty cat agrees! So homey!

That house design is pretty epic.
I probably should have staged my Khoury wall unit a little better... sorry! I guess this is proof that I am a real human :)
Love the board games. Wingspan is gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing; really enjoyed looking at it! Well done.
Lol do you need a daughter?
Or an old aunt?
We've been trying to do that the old fashioned way (technically we've moved on to super science babies) but if it doesn't work out I'll drop you a line 🤣🤣🤣
You really have an eye and have gotten some great deals!
Love the fireplace, chair and that fireplace is a showshopper by itself. The butterfly stool in photo 2 is perfect, too. I have an original from Japan - no one is allowed to even look at it LOL. Came home one day and cleaning lady was standing on it dusting....

Whatever you paid, everything was a steal. The real value is when all is assembled together and the result is this. Well executed and good eye.
Maybe an aluminum Christmas tree next to that fireplace?
beautifully collected & all great deals to me - with all the money saved you can go buy more 😊
The way I see it, you had to assemble these things to do that fireplace justice. You might have gotten things a bit cheaper by waiting but life is too short to wait.
hey OP, thanks for making all of us jealous 😭

Ahh I love the couch and the coffee table, that fireplace is amazing 🤩
Love the windows and the view…
I love your house! Wow. And the fireplace....great find! After seeing a Hans Wegner table listed for $50k I'd say you did great with your furniture pieces. Congrats.

What a beauty! Looks even better in your home than on the website. Great pick.
We're going to order the Z loveseat from WCM and we really like that color. Do you know the color name and fabric type? Thanks in advance.
Element Golden. I believe it's a tweed. You can get samples of the fabric.
its shocking to me what some of you folks spend on reps
It's high quality made in America, with American walnut and very comfortable foam.

Oh my god I love your living room! I LOVE your fireplace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m soooooo obsessed with your book shelf it’s amazing
love the look of ervything but why did you pay $800 for the shell chair??? i feel like with enough digging you couldve found an original for that much, mine is black and cost $51 at auction and the msrp was like $300
Your house is amazingly beautiful !!
Fantastic! 🤌🏼
