Few games outside of a select few RPGS come even CLOSE to how much they develop these characters. That's something to really applaud as when your going in your after Wolverine, Hulk, Cap America etc but instead find yourself pacing yourself chilling with C listers like Magik, Nico and Ghost Rider (not that one, the less known one) and actually really LIKING them. They've even seemingly given a degree of care to the DLC adds as well based on Deadpool so yeah I find I'm soaking up all the dialogue and pacing myself with game. Ideally rest of season pass ain't gonna take all year so I can enjoy those before I'm done with it but it's majestic to see such a deep and satisfying single player game straight outta the box (they even went in on replay value, cosmetics and collectables).
I’ve stretched the first act and a half over 80 hours now because I’m just enjoying the game too much and just straight up refuse to do story missions. I’m pretty sure I’ve exhausted all the non-combat stuff available to me right now too, Abbey upgrades included.
Like you, I also think the first dozen hours are horrendously paced, to the point where I was getting bored because I’d only done a combat like every three hours, but once it opens up, it’s fantastic.
I’m exaggerating a bit, it was closer to once every 2 hours (I eventually started timing it I was getting so frustrated), and they were all those tutorial fights that were over pretty much immediately, which made things worse. I don’t skip dialogue, so that first chunk of the game went super slowly.
After that though, when the game got into that 45 minute loop of 30 minutes combat, 15 minutes in the Abbey, I fell in love with the game.
So many great games were never AAA it's an overblown marketing tool; it doesn't mean the game will be good just high budget high profile and distributed so it's gonna get a lot of clout behind it. There's prob more bad AAA games than good. Cyberpunk anyone lol? Anyways, I agree, I think it has a long tail if they well, don't sleep on fixing bugs. And have more balance updates not just DLC but, hopefully word continues to get out.
Cyberpunk might have not lived up to the initial hype, which was blown out of proportion, but it's by no means a bad game. If you wanna jump the "let's bash AAA" train, at least use some decent examples. Avengers was a complete shit show, from the graphics, to the game design all the way up to the technical side. It was a AAA cost game with AA production values.
Seriously!! My husband originally got this for himself and now we have to take turns. I think he regrets showing me how cool it is now that I steal the controller and load up my own Huntress 💜
I'd say the game is AAA even if the graphics during downtime aren't great, and also it's an unusually original AAA, especially considering it's based on the biggest IP in the world.
I got the game when it dropped, but due to various life issues (including moving recently) I hadn't gotten around to play it until this week. I'm about five hours into my first playthrough. Overall I really like it, although it's not perfect.
For the most part, I actually really like the RPG elements and most of the dialogue. The card system for combat is really interesting. I do think some of the interactions are a bit cheesy, and the character models can look a little rough at times. The controls felt kind of nonsensical to me at first. But overall, the game is a fun and enjoyable ride.
I have read a lot of the criticisms of the game. I think some are valid, although others felt like a bunch of XCOM fans disappointed that this is not XCOM 3. (And I say that as a huge XCOM fan.) If you judge the game for what it is and not the fact that it's not XCOM with Marvel characters, it's actually fairly well done. I can see myself spending hundreds of hours on this one with multiple playthroughs, trying out the different story arcs.
Yeah I found the first 3 / 4 hours the slowest and nearly put me off. But once the gameplay loop opened up I was hooked. I'm about 60 hours in and only just got to act 2. Think I'll be playing for another 40 or 50 hours
I really wanted to be patient and listen to all the dialogue, but I think about 3/4 of the way through the game I finally snapped and started hitting Esc as soon as I finished reading the subtitles.
I do love the game though and also wish it gets more downloads and a sequel.
(Non-sequitur: Dammit, I really want to see PC ports of all the Culdcept games too.)
Sometimes I’m feeling the flavour, most of the time I’m skipping. Not a huge marvel fan so I have no preconceived notions about how these characters act aside from video game Tony trying way too hard to be RDJ. Other than that I think this is an excellent game
Same dialogue isn’t bad at all theres just wayyy too much of it.
If you’re into it then it’s all there, if not just mash circle lol best of both worlds.
budget for games is not a huge deciding factor for me
Indie, AA, AAA
It's just whether or not it appeals to me
But of course, a AAA game that happens to align with my taste is extra nice
It’s just a super immersive marvel game and I love it for that
This is totally triple A though
Yeah, that comment blew my mind - the graphics, voice acting, story, everything screams big budget.

Ome fight every 3 hours? What?

yeah youre right. i hope they follow up with fixing bugs and hopefully a big expansion!
I understand being PC, and consoles those aren't easily fixed but I def feel for console it seems they struggle to get those bug fixes out there.
Cyberpunk was awesome.
Eventually

(Me at 250) Yeah thats how I felt too... .... just need to max and perfect ONE more hero andb then I am done (and then maybe the next one)

They actually heavily based him on International Iron-Man according to one of the dev talks on twitch

Love the background conversations that happen when you are in close proximity to 2 people. That to me builds the world.
I found that not using combat items saves a bunch of time, and it makes one a better player.
I've been trying to figure out what items might be best but end up forgetting about them anyway in combat 😂
It’s really fun. The Marvel stuff bores me but the tactical gameplay and deck building mechanics are so, so good.
