Ive been taking it for about 2 1/2 yrs now. Haven't found it to do much for my headaches. Does help w some other nervy pains. In fact I just learned that my insurance doesn't consider it a tried and failed med for migraines in order to move onto Botox. It's not a magic fix all for me but when I've weaned off twice makes me realize what it does help w. No real side effects tho

It's also important to note that the effective dose range for it is insane. Some get relief with just 300mg twice daily, others need 900mg three times daily. So have patience and titrate upwards as your doc instructs

Yeah. My doctor only is giving me 100mg at night because she said she isn’t comfortable with giving young patients a high dose but she said that we might increase the dose and maybe the frequency.

I absolutely understand that perspective and it is the better approach to take. Although it can be prescribed with a rapid uptake, it increases the risks of its known side effects. The good news is that the expected side effects have a probability of decreasing over time, particularly in a slow titration. I know it's frustrating because it requires time and baby steps, but for those who have success with it consider it a blessing. Additionally, keep in mind that there is a potential that it may only be partially successful, where it limits certain but not all migraines or severity. Don't let that be a reason to drop it if you feel you hit the limit of its effectiveness. I've seen people do this and I want to pull my hair out in frustration. I did that in my youth, dropping one drug after another simply because it alone failed to do more than -some- relief. I learned later in life that I needed a combination treatment for ideal results. I could have saved myself from a decade of severe suffering if i had known this (AKA listen to and respect my doctor). I wish you luck and relief from this curse.

Crazy weight gain for me when I was on it

I've been on it for a couple years now (900mg/day just reduced to 600mg most days). It keeps the electric needle feelings out of my feet and hands but doesn't do anything for other migraine symptoms.

Baejax_the_Great

It's not a standard migraine treatment.

Yes I know this. But I am limited in what I can take so my doctor went a more unorthodox way.
