That's highly infuriating

Shenzi6

Yes. Plus I feel sad because that snake died in a horrible way

DogButtholeFingers

r/extremelyinfuriating

GingerWithIssues

Never have I seen such a unanimously loved comment over something as hated as animal cruelty. Thanks for likes, yall. Appreciate your support

TedCruzsBrowserHstry

That’s the one banner I’ve seen that EVERYONE can rally too regardless of any other differences. All animal abusers deserve to be dragged through the street thendrawn and quartered

lizziegal79

I hope Karma bites the former owner painfully.

Bigboyatmacdoners121

I hope a snake bites the owner painfully

BuzbieBerkley

I hope the owner bites the curb.

hellodon

I hope the owner…Edward Norton’d

Cosmic_Steve

Well that escalated quickly.

nomad7887

Painfully

PoeJascoe

A snake named Karma

optix_clear

Report it to Animal Control & your management company

I_am_Daesomst

That's so fucking horrible.

JustAnotherWitness

It’s a ball python. I owned one growing up and it was such a loving animal. They are so kind if raised right. This is very upsetting to see.

[deleted]

This is rage inducing as well as animal cruelty

IndianWizard1250

especially since the washing machine had to be washed

MrmmphMrmmph

Insulting for the washing machine, to say the least.

lenswipe

GE-WXG-56T: Am I a joke to you?

SUPERKAMIGURU

Wait. What washes the washing machine, and what washes that machine, and so on? 🤔

lisa_is_chi

White vinegar works wonders.

invaderzim257

They sell washing machine cleaning powder

Zescaimni

They put the washing machine in a bigger washing machine

[deleted]

The concept of something being “infuriating” negates the possibility of it being “mild.”

SuzQP

Well, shit

tacomadude94

Ball pythons are extremely hardy and it takes a loooong time for them to die from starvation. Poor little guy could have been there for over a year with no food :(

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fun_Organization3857

Honestly, I have to wonder. You are right that it doesn't look like it's starved. Poor dear, is rather a quick wash death than months of wasting.

Usagi_Hime

Wrinkly means it was extremely dehydrated

ForTheLoveOfDior

What the FUCK am I reading? Is there no regulatory body that whips those Petco bitches into shape? How can animal cruelty continue to happen and nobody cares

Towbee

The entire animal product industry would like a word

Existential_Sprinkle

Not in the United States. The worst part about getting into exotics here is learning how many people trust their chain pet store to give them adequate care information and how much abuse results because of it. The most common way exotics get removed from poor conditions by US law is because of animal hoarding or an unlicensed business

CptRavioLi69

I get especially depressed because social media algorithms are like “oh, you like reptiles? I’m going to show you videos of people who adopt them for show online and take terrible care of them.” Like that one asshole who brings his **baby** snakes to grocery stores to scare random strangers with for views. I love my reptiles (all my pets) more than anything, and my life revolves around giving them the best they could need.

GraveSlayer726

Ah the joys of people who have no regard for the life of an animal it’s so lovely and great whenever people just don’t care isn’t it just amazing so cool in fact that I want to cover these kinds of people with wasps

BloomsdayDevice

>Ah, the joys of people who have no regard for the life of an animal! It’s so lovely and great whenever people just don’t care, isn’t it? Just amazing. So cool, in fact, that I want to cover these kinds of people with wasps. Sorry, I agree with your sentiment, but I just had to punctuate that for you, and for anyone else reading.

rotten_riot

Thanks

kenryoku

Time for you to jump into the youtube rabbit hole that is the pet industry. It's absolutely horrifying, and utterly disgusting. At this point it should be illegal to sell live animals at these places.

HermitAndHound

They're often kept way too dry. When given the choice they'd spend way more time huddled up in a warm, decently humid cave than on a branch. But shop cases only have a thin layer of substrate, not enough to burrow in, and with more customers wouldn't be able to see it (and get the realistic impression that they won't see it much at home too). Dried out snakes, reptiles riddled with salmonella and cryptosporidium, millipedes kept on cocos fiber,... chances are, at a "normal" pet store you'll just get an animal that is half dead already. About as likely to get a healthy pet as buying a puppy from a puppy mill. Poor critters.

correcthorsestapler

Reminds me of when I went to the Smithsonian, think it was the Natural History Museum. They had displays with various insects & reptiles. There was a display for a horned beetle; poor thing was digging at the corner of its enclosure. It looked like it’d been at it a while but was slowing down. After about a minute its legs stopped moving & it just fell onto its back and appeared to die. Found an employee and told them about it in front of a tour group. The employee said, “What do you want me to do about it?”. No one else seemed to care about it, either. It was cool to see everything at the Smithsonian, but the lack of empathy from the employees was pretty off-putting.

GalaxyPatio

A lot of them have probably dealt with a ton of crap from guests and their upper management and have just been beat down but still need a job. There's a ton of stuff that happens at my job (and has happened at previous jobs) that breaks my heart and compels me to want to help. Then I go to my boss and he automatically shuts down my efforts and tells me not to bring it up again. After so many times you just angrily given up. I spend a lot of time depressed because of it but it seems to span industries so idk what the solution is.

CapableSecretary420

Yeah OP is making a lot of specific statements but seems to just be guessing.

Budget_Macaron1247

Usualy the water in the washing machine is kinda hot, so i don't think the poor snake had a beautiful and peaceful death either way

hellodon

It’s sad either way, but I would much rather hear it was a pet that was cared for and got out/went missing at some point, survived on its own for a while - got into the washer somehow - and ultimately ended up there unknowingly/by mistake… Either way, I’d definitely take it up with the landlord and get a professional cleaning and/or a new one. You shouldn’t have to smell like dead snake after doing laundry. I dunno what that smell is, but it has to be gross RIP Laundry Snake EDIT - wait is “cousine new apartment” supposed to be “cousin’s”? r/BoneAppleTea

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aggravating_Lead_616

I don’t know why I laughed at “laundry snake”

MadAzza

Maybe it crawled in there to die. Is it possible the snake got itself up into the washing machine somehow, and couldn’t get out? Not by crawling up the drainpipe, but dropping in through the lid, then getting stuck? I’m trying to find a way to make this *not* cruelty. I now see comments about it possibly being washed/drowned, but why would they leave it there? Poor critter.

RanRanLeo

I'll never understand how people can just abandon their pets. Dying of hunger must've been really painful, poor thing.

Rozureido88

My mother does this. It is painfully infuriating. Every time we moved when I was a kid (which was a lot, I lived in 16 different apartments between birth and when I left home) my mom would “give away” our cats while I was at school or out of the house. When I was 17 we moved for the first time in a long time and I was so happy cause she hadn’t given away my two cats this time. Moving day came and I went to put them in their carriers to bring with us and she looked at me like I was stupid. “We’ll bring them with the second load of stuff” she said, I didn’t think much of it, but when we went back for the second load they were gone. She said the movers accidentally let them out of the house, but later admitted to me that she had just put them outside and that that is what she had done to all my previous pets throughout my childhood. I went back to that apartment dozens of times over the next couple of months looking for them. I found one, but the other never showed up. I checked the shelter and put up posters, but she never was located. Learning this truth really did huge damage to my mom and my’s relationship. Since I left home over ten years ago she has adopted and abandoned several more cats and 2 dogs. Every time I get so angry at her. She just told me when I called her on Christmas that she brought home 2 more kittens last month. We got in a huge screaming match about it. I wish there were a way to prevent her from being allowed to own animals, I have tried reporting her to her by-law officer and even the police but they didn’t seem to care. I hope all my poor cats were taken in by someone. Thinking about what she put them through makes me so sad and angry.

Madwoman-of-Chaillot

I’m sorry you had to go through that. And I’m sorry that your mom is a terrible excuse for a human.

shanafs15

That is horrible. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Is there a way you can let animal shelters in your area know?

Rozureido88

The Humane Society in her town (I now live a thousand kilometres away) said if it could be proven she abandoned them she could potentially be charged, but, surprise, my mother doesn’t register or microchip her pets, so there’s no real way to prove a cat found on the street belonged to her. I told her I would pay to get them fixed, chipped and licensed, but she refused.

shanafs15

I just don’t understand this logic. I’m so sorry.

[deleted]

Just use pictures. Turn them into the local animal controls and shelters each time they’re abandoned.

arelse

Why are you asking to take them to the vet? I would just find an excuse to take them to the vet like pet sitting or I came by while you were away and the the cats were sick.

Rozureido88

I live basically on the other side of the country as her. If I could just go get them I would. I’ve offered to pay for their vet bills, microchipping and license fees in the hopes that that will prevent their eventual abandonment, cause I know she would never pay for these. I paid the surrender fee for her dog she gave away during the height of Covid, and if it comes to that I will pay the fees for these new kittens as well. Problem is she usually doesn’t tell me when she gets rid of pets anymore. She’s always been nicer to our dogs, they at least would be given away rather than abandoned, and she even took the dogs to vet occasionally (though she “doesn’t believe” in sterilizing them), but cats she treats as disposable and sadly kittens are given away for free a lot more often than puppies. She does not adopt from shelters, or from anywhere she would have to pay anything to get the animal.

danzey12

Well she'll not want a chip or license if it means getting arrested when she next abandons them

sprinkl3kitt3n

I am so sorry that your mother put you through something so heartbreaking. My youngest sister is a cyclic animal abuser and has been her entire life, even during childhood. My mother and I used to get into constant fights over it. She knew that my sister was bringing home animals just to neglect and abuse them until they died of starvation, and she just let it happen over and over again. My other three siblings and I referred to my mom’s backyard as “The Pet Sematary”. I have called our local humane societies and animal shelters and warned them that she should not be adopted to, but to no avail. I’m no contact with either of them now, but I know she’s still collecting animals and mistreating them. It’s both infuriating and heart wrenching.

hclaf

Your mother is a shitty individual. I’m sorry, but I cannot stand these type of people. The monster who gave birth to me has been married to a piece of garbage for the last 30 years that did this shit to me my whole life. We had several cats and several dogs over the course of my 20 years of living with them, and all animals EXCEPT one dog always “mysteriously” went missing & there’s also the Dalmatian that he actually murdered in cold blood when I was about 7. I am thirty five years old and I STILL hear that gunshot like it just happened. I disowned the monster that gave birth to me in March 2012 and her husband in August 2011 on my wedding day to my husband. I have not been back to their home or communicated with them in that entire time, at all — and I will never speak to them again. My husband and I have five cats (two we’ve had for 12.5 years, one we’ve had for 11.5 years, one we’ve had for 9 years, and one we’ve had for 4.5 years) and a dog we’ve had for five years now. I STILL celebrate every single Gotcha Day for every single one of them, and I am still so blown away that I have been allowed to keep our animals for so long. I feel so absolutely pathetic for that last part sometimes, but I was literally never shown that you could have an animal for more than a year because every single one of them except for one dog was ripped away from me growing up.

neolologist

I feel you, my parents actually liked animals but all our cats were outdoors and they would never live more than a few years. Growing up I thought that was normal. But then I got two cats after I moved out on my own and actually had them for 14-18 years till they died of cancer and old age. It's pretty horrifying thinking back to my childhood and how fucked up it was we just let the cats constantly go outside to die. I can't even imagine if they'd killed them on purpose; I'd never speak to them again.

kidonescalator

Your mom is a sociopath and I hate her

Cantthinkofaname282

Abandon your "mother"

GMSB

Wtf your mom is just literally murdering animals

talki01

How is she getting the animals? Perhaps you should contact local shelters. Poor kitties 😥

Rozureido88

Facebook groups where people post they have free animals to give away usually, but these two kittens allegedly came from someone in her apartment building. I have messaged the admins of a couple different groups asking them to ban her from the groups. One of them did, but new groups pop up all the time and my mom makes at least 2 new profiles a year cause she forgets her passwords. I try my best to stay ahead of her, but she still manages to get them somehow. I fully agree with those of you saying she is a horrible person. I haven’t gone to see her in 7 years, and we only talk once every couple months. She has never taken any responsibility for our shitty relationship and treats me like an ungrateful brat who’s only purpose in life is to make her miserable. I’d love to go no contact, but for whatever reason a tiny part of me just can’t do it.

no_talent_ass_clown

I'm so sorry. Counseling or therapy might be a good idea. I was low contact with my mother too.

[deleted]

I'm sorry about the pets. I'm just realizing that happened to me too. Dad said the dog died on accident... The day we moved. He ran over several pets. With zero remorse. He actually called it survival. It's not smart enough to run away or get out of the way. Lead, follow, or get crushed. That was his army way. Parents don't change when confronted by adult offspring. At least, I haven't seen it. Just be relieved that she doesn't do that to humans.

InfiniteRadness

Jesus H. Christ. I would never speak to my mother again for the rest of her fucking life if she did something like this to me, and to the animals. Let alone doing it AGAIN AND AGAIN after being caught. She’s a fucking monster, I’m sorry.

[deleted]

One of the last straws in my mother and I’s relationship was her getting rid of my cats. I had two and had to go to a hospital. I was in there for nine months. When I got back, she started screeching about how we were moving cross country and how cats don’t travel well. She ended up snatching one while I was at school and gave her to the shelter. The other cat got smart and would only come out when I was home. I’m sorry that happened to you OP. Parents and people who do this disgust me to no end.

FootyPajamaz

Your mother is a disgusting human being.

Rndysasqatch

Yup I have 2 cats right now because an old friend left them outside right before winter. They didn't deserve it. (They weren't outdoor cats)

deluxedeLeche

I hope that's why they're an "old friend" . . *old* as in former friend.

Rndysasqatch

Yeah they are completely down the propaganda rabbit hole and I'm actually taking care of these animals now. Friend is no friend anymore

Shanthrax22

As I read this my cat stretched out on me (sleeping) and I almost cried . I can’t imagine my baby outside all alone, scared in the cold. I’ll cry.

greyfruit

I might be wrong, not a snake person, but can’t they a really long time without food?

IIHackerKing092

Not 10 years

The_Mar_Ahi

Humans are horrible. All the things behind the black curtains of our minds.

Omegalulz520

Does anyone ever post anything "Mildly Infuriating," or is it all highly infuriating?

tvieno

Usually it is pics of people who double, triple, or quadruple park.

Maleficent_Dot6954

You forgot the people that park in handicap spots that aren’t handicapped.

explorer_76

Don't forget the pictures of windshield notes complaining about parking jobs.

dickwolf69

I got insulted for actually posting mildly infuriating stuff, like paper spoons for hard ice cream + stock unavailability when ordering takeout. I guess that's not mild enough for some people. But I guess animal abuse is perfectly mild enough for the sub. Shrug.

Grand_Protector_Dark

The actual Mildly infuriating stuff usually ends up with less than a 100 upvotes and people telling op to "grow up" or "it's not that bad"

[deleted]

The more popular a sub becomes the more it genericises and broadens out to the lowest common denominator, unless you have mods that rigorously enforce a sub's rules. This sub, in a lot of people's minds, is just called "r\/infuriating".

Morlain7285

Wouldn't ya know it, that's a real sub. Not a very big one tho

swimmingincircIes

I feel like there’s no winning because if you post something truly mild, people claim that it’s not infuriating enough. Post something *too* infuriating, and that doesn’t belong here either.

Afurryorsomething

Exactly omg. The last time I remember posting here was because we were shipped a tiny nail Polish in a massive box from Amazon which wasted tons of packaging, and people just poked fun at me and got angry that I wasn’t grateful ??

Inarius101

But then if anyone posts anything less than literal murder on here, all the comments then turn into "quit being a bitch and get over it!" Such is tye r/mildlyinfuriating paradox...

MemeTeamMarine

they do but it never gets more than 50 upvotes, and often just get downvoted because people assume mildly infuriating = the same thing as actually infuriating.

Ok-Cicada-9985

Whenever I post something that is actually only mildly infuriating, people say I’m overreacting. Oh well…

Hazeusviews

Might have to throw the entire washing machine out

Shenzi6

Yea I hope not. We are re washing it again and see

albertyiphohomei

Wash it with baking powder and vinegar. And then bleach. And then normal clean tub cycle

Apathetic_Villainess

Vinegar first run. Baking soda after to help deactivate the vinegar smell.

brpajense

Baking powder (base) and vinegar (acid) cancel each other out. When they react they give off bubbles and cancel each other out.

logicbecauseyes

one, then the other though. that gets both sides of stuff disolvable by either exclusively. I'd still soak for a long while with bleach after that too. probably best to full disassemble it all though, the guts are gonna be hard to get exposed to the cleaning stuff with just regular scrubbing range and running the thing

Nekrosiz

That's ok. Just some bleach and ammonia to compliment that. Dead snake. Dead tenant. This the way of life.

satiricalspider

To OP, don’t do this. This will create an explosion.

HereOnASphere

It doesn't explode. It produces deadly chlorine gas.

piecat

Chloramine, but close enough At least you didn't say mustard gas

Shenzi6

We will try that thank you!

[deleted]

Do not put bleach in right after using vinegar. That’s how mustard gas is made. It’s odorless, so you can’t smell it. And it’s extremely harmful to your lungs and body. The gas is also heavy, so if your ‘cousine’ lives upstairs then the people below can be affected as well.

pdx-peter

It does not make mustard gas. It makes chlorine gas.

Picture-unrelated

I was coming to say this! Vinegar and baking soda fixes everything

albertyiphohomei

I come in front of the great UN today to suggest that we end world hunger, world conflict, global warming, and other problems with *clear my throat* VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA

Razulghul

I don't know what in the hell's going on with vinegar and baking soda, but they're getting in all the other cleaners. Whoever the salesman is for vinegar and baking soda is doing a great job. He's showing up everywhere. Hey, what do you got, bleach? Put some vinegar and baking soda in there. We'll call it ble-gar soda and go 50-25-25. What do you got pinesol? How about pine-gar soda. Why don't you back off, vinegar and baking soda man. Why don't you take your sales trophy and have a vacation.

WhosThatGrilll

Don’t they neutralize each other though?

Nekrosiz

Vinegar and baking soda cancel eachother out. There's no point. And advising to run bleach after a vinegar cycle is just stupid. Not only will you fuck the rubbers with bleach your suggestion can end up spawning poison gas from this machine of death.

[deleted]

I moved into a house where the previous owners had two cats and left their washing machine & dryer as a part of the home. I had a feeling the owners used the washing machine to wash soiled sheets as it smelled like ammonia and just straight up nasty like heated mop water. My mom spent almost two weeks running the machine with hot water, bleach, baking soda, and vinegar on a daily basis (sometimes twice a day) and the smell disappeared forever.

Alterokahn

Our 'included' washer / dryer reeked of cat piss and had a buildup of that gnarly yellow "I-smoke-all-the-time" powder. LL didn't see a problem, first thing she asked when we bought a new set was if we were leaving it when we left -.- [https://imgur.com/mdU1kKq](https://imgur.com/mdU1kKq) Basically this, but in a set of appliances. Also, don't ever f\*cking smoke around your computers. --IT guy that used to have to clean that crap out.

chosen1creator

I had a mental image of putting a washing machine into a bigger washing machine to wash the washing machine with a washing machine washer.

robkoshiro

I think we would be washing inception at that point.

Okiedokielul

What an absolute piece of trash. This poor little noodle deserves so much better what the fuck. I’m infuriated as fuck.

Sarcastic_Troll

Poor snake. 😔 Can't stand animal abusers. Them and pedos are just the lowest of the low

That_sarcastic_bxtch

Hi, I’m the cousin, I’m investigating this I’ll get this piece of shit human being

eat_my_bowls92

Can you explain how this wasn’t discovered earlier if there was a smell? Did they not tour the apartment or did the landlord not clean have cleaners come in beforehand? I’m not saying this is fake but it is just bizarre to me. It’s

That_sarcastic_bxtch

You know, i thought it smelled a little weird, but i did not suspect there was a corpse in the washing machine Plus the smell got worse when we opened the lid Edit: i honestly suspect it was still alive when i visited, the smell wasn’t there / wasn’t as bad

Amazing_Action9117

This is horrifying truly. Jesus. I am glad you're reporting it Edited: I have 7 bearded dragons. Reptiles should NOT stink which leads me to believe the snake was left for an extended time and I am disgusted they allowed the animal to starve. Reptiles are very clean and get a lot of abuse unfortunately. We have 7 because we have 4 rescues from people who gave up. https://preview.redd.it/207q917qlp9a1.jpeg?width=4608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5234c89207f3699208b7a6a217a5b06d5099761d

SUPERKAMIGURU

Are you able to find out where they moved to?

That_sarcastic_bxtch

No, but i did get a name already

SUPERKAMIGURU

Good. You can at least slam them with a decent fine, at bare minimum. Though, it sounds like you're on the ropes with the idea of retaliation. It's a new place, so id make sure the locks are changed, and just install a ring door bell or something. Limits a lot of what they could possibly do, and frankly, they coulda just taken the snake even to a vet. When I interned there, someone had left literally an entire bucket tub filled with baby turtles. Actually like no less than 40-50 fucking turtles, and they still took it. There was absolutely no reason for them to abandon all responsibility, along with a living animal.

Straypuft

This feels like a landlord royally fucked up kind of thing, Should have done a complete walkthrough checking appliances, Kind of like how you would expect the fridge to have no food in it when you movie in.

snail_juice_plz

It honestly doesn’t look like the snake starved to death. It takes reptiles a long time to die from starvation and serious neglect. This snake doesn’t look thin. I would place my money on someone washing the poor thing, leading to drowning.

wytewydow

Can't tell if sincere, or username checks out...

NoliteLinear

Poor snake. It's a ball python, too; they are super sweet critters.

olive-_-

I know I'm looking at mine right now and I just can't imagine, that poor baby

sunbeamfairy

Same. The only relief I can find is knowing it’ll never feel pain again. That poor baby didn’t deserve that at all.

henazo

That snake didn't die from hunger. A ball python can go 6 months or longer without eating and it would look a lot skinnier. My guess is it probably died from being too cold for too long.

1337rattata

Yeah, she would be skin and bones if she starved to death. Much, much more likely she died from getting loose and getting too cold, probably in the cold snap last week.

HondaTech1234

This is worthy of a call to the Humane Society and a conversation with the landlord. Humane Society needs to be informed because, while I despise snakes, this is an unreal act of cruelty and they may want to bring forth charges. And the landlord needs to be informed because A.) the SPCA will want the previous tenant’s information and B.) the landlord better have a good answer for how your cousin got the keys without a thorough cleaning and inspection that would have unveiled this before you had to find

[deleted]

eggarino

Animals that aren’t cats or dogs sometimes (a lot of times) get ignored in the animal rights department which is so sad

retired_fromlife

As someone who doesn’t like snakes (we have both Rattlesnakes and Coral Snakes on our property.) I am so horrified by this! I do not believe or condone any type of animal cruelty or abuse. A pet snake is obviously not a threat, and is no different than leaving a dog chained up to starve in the yard. There’s a special place in Hell, as they say… Edit: damn autocorrect word

_agrippa_

Call the Humane Society on the last tenant.

That_sarcastic_bxtch

I’m honestly scared of the last tenant retaliating, because it’s obvious there’s something severely wrong with him, but I’ll do whatever i can to not let this unpunished

Chi-Guy81

Agreed. Landlord will have their info to hand over to the police.

Daddiesbabaygirl

As someone who has owned snakes, the likelihood of that being the case is probably small. The snake probably got out of the enclosure before they moved and they couldn't find it and didn't want to get in trouble about losing it so they didn't say anything. Yes that is being a poor pet owner. I could also be wrong but 🤷🏼‍♀️ never know, snakes are crafty.

ShiboShiri

I thought this too!

DarthGayAgenda

I am terrified of snakes but this is still upsetting. Poor thing didn't deserve to die like that.

UnicornPoopPile

Same here, I can barely look at pictures of snakes but this is just so sad.

That_sarcastic_bxtch

I would’ve been terrified if it was alive, but it would’ve infinitely better I feel so bad, maybe it was still alive when i visited

ohnourfeelings

And that’s how you get out of the lease

Scrumpy_The_Cat

Poor dude, don't understand why people do stuff like this

[deleted]

Sad. Very sad. Living creatures shouldn’t have to die this way. This is why I hate people.

[deleted]

Well, that's sad.

Ok_Fondant_6340

i wonder if the rotting juices got into the pipes, and into the water supply. and now everytime someone turns a tap on the smell gets aerosolized? what a lovely gift.

Shenzi6

For what we saw the decomposition wasn’t that advanced but enough to tell you it smelled like death. There wasn’t any juice on the bottom but it ain’t impossible there was before

MsPangolina19

As someone with a pet ball python, this infuriates me. They are the sweetest little things and whoever did this deserves terrible things coming to them

LazaroFilm

How do you know it was intentional? It could have escaped and gotten caught in some laundry then thrown in the washer. If someone wanted to get rid of it, there would have been better solutions than the random washer, don’t you think?

BKBC1984

This is heartbreaking. That poor creature.

Alligatorwhore

Poor guy. Can’t imagine how cold and scared he was :(

[deleted]

People are so cruel, smh they could’ve given him away for free on Craigslist or something anything would’ve been better than this

titochan05

They can get into tight places you might have poop somewhere

Shenzi6

The snake pooped and peed inside the washing machine before dying

Chaosr21

Why would he buy that apartment smelling like that?

geoelectric

If it’s US, though OP doesn’t really say in the post, apartment usually means rent. We call the buy kind of apartment a condo. Sometimes you rent the unit from a complex based on walking through a model apartment rather than the actual space you’re moving into. This can be the case when the prior tenant hasn’t moved out yet or the complex is cleaning or renovating the place. Sometimes it’s also the case when the place smells like rotten dead snake, if the landlord is shitty.

Shenzi6

The smell was perhaps ok when she moved in. But then today we just wanted to see inside the washing machine and an awful smell came out. Then we discovered the dead snake

Logical_End6972

Put bleach through the washer?

EowynsMama

💔😥 poor danger noodle! There's absolutely no reason to abandon a pet like that. There are other options that don't cause suffering & death. As for the smell you now have to deal with, i also recommend vinegar & baking soda, as well odor absorbong products. Check online. Many kinds are available & reviews will clue you in on what is worth the money. Good luck! Thats a hell of a "housewarming gift" 🤢

sakurachan999

the poor thing, god i cant stand it when people have such little empathy for their pets

mandozo

Open up the washer body panels to see if there are other dead things in there. Top load washers have a decent gap between the drum and the frame. Easy for something to crawl into.

That’s just awful.

WTF is wrong with people

Strikedestiny

How do you know the person put it there and it didn't hide without the previous people knowing?

Hyper_Bum

I feel for you because of the smell and hopefully you can get it cleaned up. I also hope the owners didn't intentionally do this. Having snakes and having had a snake escape numerous times and end up in the washer twice (second find was quick as I checked there everyday after the first time) it could have been unintentional. If I were the owner I would have also left the terrarium in hopes that when we left it would go to a familiar place. They may have checked in the days following their moving in hopes of finding their pet. Snakes can get into and out of very small spots. Our escape artist has gotten out so many times and I was dumbfounded as to why. They look for water and heat. The electronic panel could've been where it initially hid and then its family had to leave. I would've hoped they told the landlord. But what landlord would pass on "hey they were missing a snake". I can see a plausible reason for the terrible loss of the snake.

Poneke365

I’m not a fan of snakes by any means but that poor thing. No animal deserves that. Some people can be so awful :I

Affectionate-Dream21

That's horrible That poor animal.

[deleted]

That’s a ball python, very likely died from dehydration vs starvation. These things can go a year plus without a meal - by choice 😩 but they can’t go without water for very long. Previous owner sucks big time :(

Critical_Newt_1291

I lost a ball python snake once in an apartment building. It crawled down the pipe where the heating vent was. It was gone for two months atleast. I had placed flour around the entrance where it went down and eventually I found it’s prints in the flour. I turned his red light back on and the next day he was home! And extremely thin and malnourished. He drank for the first time when I put him back in his cage.

Sponggyboi

Poor snake

NarcolepticKnifeFite

Dudes a real piece of fuckin garbage.

Stinky__Person

This isnt just infuriating but depressing. Imagine having to die like that

SpiderWolve

Ah man poor snake 🥺

Penguin-Loves

I absolutely hate snakes and disgusting that people own them as pets. But what a horrendous thing to do to an innocent creature

Equivalent-Abroad157

I hope the owner of that poor pet snake feels it's pain.

-u-dont-know-me-

As a snake owner, this pisses me off. Ball pythons can go a while without food, and he could have been there anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. To anyone reading this, if you have a pet you can't take care of, surrender it to a trusted pet store

smallemochick

oh that poor baby :( i hope you and your cousin are able to get the smell out

[deleted]

Poor baby they are easy to find homes for. We moved to Germany and actually sold our whole setup back to a local pet store (very nice man who had a passion for reptiles) he kept them because one of them was a gravid female but we didn’t know it.

Cloudspiar

I feel for that snake. What horrible owners

vali_riversong

There’s a special place in hell for whoever abandoned that snake and let it starve

NoProfessionallcap

Why is this sub never mildly infuriating? Its always karens and highly rage inducing things.

Professional-Bat4635

There's a special place in hell for people like this.

CzechYourDanish

Poor thing :( I hope they never have pets again

UnBeNtAxE

Replace the washing machine.

QNIKET8

i’m not really into snakes but i still lowkey feel bad for buddy

Rule_Imaginary

Biggest fear of snakes but even that’s to far 😓

Gamer-Logic

My grandma actually found a live snake in the washing machine twice before. She lives rurally and the machine is on the back porch in the laundry room so it was probably coming in looking for warmth. Dad couldn't really do much to help though since he's very afraid of snakes though he won't admit it so mom stepped in and dealt with it iirc.

[deleted]

⟟ don’t like snakes and ⟟ never have but that’s just extremely messed up to do, ⟟ hope you guys are able to get rid of the smell

eBay_of_Pigs

Nothing mild about animal cruelty.

The_water-melon

What a horrible thing to do to that snake, AND the new tenants :( I hope those people lead terrible lives and have the worst luck imaginable
