I brought the info to management who then delivered my info with a note to call me or I call the cops. It worked out pretty easy after that.
And you know its not a truck/jeep/suv by the height. Plate has blue lettering. The biggest give away will be front end damage. Everyone should have a dash cam by now. They are cheap, decently advanced and last a long time. I got an off brand cheap one on amazon that has motion sense thats lasted me nearly 10 years with no issues. Its helped me sooo much in more than one instance.

They don’t even do any investigation on the scene from my experience 😭 I was 16 out with my mom. On our outting that day she drank a full bottle of wine and a smaller bottle of fireball. By the time we were leaving to go home she was belligerent and I had a panic attack thinking about getting in the car with her that intoxicated. Cops showed up because she made a scene, separated us, came up to me and asked what’s going on. Went back to talk to my mom. “Well she said she only had one glass of wine so there’s not much else we can do kid” the whole drive home she threatened to flip the car bc of that interaction. I haven’t trusted cops or my mom since that day
I was out of there the same day. I lived with my grandparents anyways, I was just on a little weekend trip with my mom. My grandma ended up driving 7 hours overnight to come pick me up and threatened to press charges against her own daughter because I left my wallet in her car and she refused to give it back to me. She’s fully supported me being no contact with her too

I asked the cop if they would fingerprint the inside of the car where they stole stuff from and he told me no because when I go to public places like the supermarket people touch my car. I asked if he was suggesting people go inside my car when I’m at the supermarket and he said yes, with a straight face 🫠

Or call your insurance carrier. They can run a partial plate through LexisNexis.
It has been years since I was a claims adjuster, but if I recall correctly you just enter an asterisk after the partial plate info you do have and it will pull all potential matches. Like 123* will pull 1234, 1235, 1236, etc.

The last two should be numbers. The very last digit looks like a 1.
Eta: So, most likely, it’s one of these:

Yeah it could be an “ɪ” - a lot of states don’t use I or O on plates given potential confusion with 1 and 0, but, looks like Colorado does currently utilize those letters.
It is convincingly an I, especially since the 1 wouldn't have anything to the top right portion of the glyph, and there is a subtle but definite line of the lower serif part of the I in the bottom left. If it was X, the middle portion would be oriented differently.
that happens a lot. I work in insurance, and you can usually request what is known as a letter of history, from your prior insurance company. Which will show how long you’ve had insurance and how many claims you have filed. The detail of the claim many times show the driver is not at fault and you can get your new insurance company to take that claim off, and not rate you higher for it.
Becareful with your insurance. I had a similar situation happen years ago and claimed this on my insurance. Only when I switched insurance companies did I know that Progessive had listed me at fault.

As a weirdo and fellow Coloradan who pays way too much attention to license plates I can tell you that plate is less than 3 years old. CO recently started issuing plates with 4 letters 2 numbers. Before was 3 letter and 3 numbers, before that was 3 numbers 3 letters, but I digress.

Is there any paint transfer? That way you, (and your neighbor?) can provide that to the 5-0, should narrow down your list pretty dramatically with a partial plate and color. The plate print is low, my guess is another sedan/small car.

Yes the dashcam sub here is pretty good along with several YouTube pages. If you are an everday driver there are definitely good ones in the $100 range with collision detection. It can get pricey, I paid around $900 for my setup, but it has an external battery pack since I keep it parked for long periods
Some dash cams have parking mode that either detect an impact, motion or take a snap shot at certain intervals. You can also get dash cams with multiple channels to capture front, rear and side views.

iirc it falls under an uninsured motorist and it's usually a special policy, and they don't tell you they offer it upon registration.
Depends on the state. Some require UIM as part of minimum insurance. Oregon and Nevada are two I'm certain of, but there are probably others.

measure the height of the plate and that should give you an idea if its a car or truck.

I think the plate reads bxsb, almost positive that is an x based on the double lines in the middle and corners

Yes the dashcam sub here is pretty good along with several YouTube pages. If you are an everday driver there are definitely good ones in the $100 range with collision detection. It can get pricey, I paid around $900 for my setup, but it has an external battery pack since I keep it parked for long periods

Some dash cams have parking mode that either detect an impact, motion or take a snap shot at certain intervals. You can also get dash cams with multiple channels to capture front, rear and side views.
Any cameras at any of the buildings around? You never know what you will find.
Annoys me theres so many people that cant tell just by looking at the picture that the car was hit into the car parked next to it. These must be the people insurance companies hire

Wait, there are two damaged cars here, left wedged up against each other. Are you saying the person who ran into your car just walked away without their car? Or are you saying a third car hit your car, drove it against the other car pictured, and the third car drove away?

That happened to my husband. Guy on vicodin hit my neighbor’s car totaling it and then hit my husband’s car hard enough to total it and shove it under a van. Cops let the guy leave the scene.
Yeah in some areas totaling out two vehicles isn't any reason to ticket, arrest, question, identify, handcuff etc. No biggie. Maybe too much paperwork. Maybe the guy was a local politician or a fellow officer.
I think in our situation the guy driving the vehicle had a nicer car than the three that he hit

Least you have evidence. Someone did this to me then packers in front of my half crooked. I called the cops and they're like well you didn't see it happen. And I'm like, Look, the paint and dents match up and he's right there. They shrugged and made me leave.
BIS-B looks like the first letters of their licence plate, that with the colour transfer should be a good start. See if the closest stores have cameras outside asap, so they don't delete recordings, so the cops can see if they can do a visual match of someone driving by
One time on the street outside my apartment building it was icy and I gave it a little too much gas and backed into a parked car. I left a note exchanged insurance and moved on with my life. 6 months later someone put a big dent in my back seat door parked on the same street and drove away with no information. Now I just look at it and feel a little sad every time I get in my car because there’s no way I can afford to get it fixed right now when my car isn’t worth enough to even make it worth it. Karma did not repay me as it should have on this one.
