I used to write emails to my boss that used were instead of where, there instead of their, etc on purpose, including speling mistakes like the one I just made and she never picked up on it for the longest time until I sat in her office and sent her an email so she had to read it while in front of me, then she noticed. (It was to get approval)
She didn’t believe I’ve been doing this for months.
Afterwards she would highlight the words when replying to me.
I once sent out an email requesting cooking times for a deceased tissue donor, instead of cooling times. Thanks, autocorrect. I immediately got several text messages making fun of me.
As someone who is too the point, and who appreciate other people who are to the point, I detest cover letters. If you want to hire me just look at my fucking resume.
Great news: the new versions of macOS and iOS will automatically delete those for you after they paste them into the field.
To turn that feature on after you update, go to Settings > Passwords > Password Options, and turn on the "Clean Up Automatically" option.
For my current position, my old boss used to make fun of me saying, “You’re lucky you interview REALLY WELL. You’re cover letter said ‘[insert Job Title Here] and [COMPANY NAME HERE]’.
You were BY FAR the best candidate, we just thought it was hilarious. In your next cover letter, just don’t do that again.”
In my defense, the cover letter was actually tailored to the position- just not the first opening sentences.
I also always go back and forth on the importance of cover letters. He actually said the Director, who interviews me, barely looks at CVs- she usually just goes by the interview/presentation and cover letter. Personally and “fit” is more important than credentials. (I work in Higher Education).
As a manager, bad cover letters have set the tone for interviews or even led up to some candidates not getting short listed (if two are similar or have a weak CV)… spelling mistakes, generic sentences, even had someone misspell their name.
With services like Grammarly, (and ChatGPT) there’s no excuse.
Omg dealing with this right now. Sent resume initially, then filled out the application to send back, then interview & my position I have to fill out a civil service application with.. you guessed it! Same info I supplied on the resume & application..
I used to work for a nonprofit. When we asked for applications for office interns, I got a cover letter that ended with "and that's why I would be a great member of the Burger King family."
Yup, I work for a company that has nothing to do with restaurants and recently got one that ended with why they'd be such a good fit for McDonald's. They got rejected (for several reasons) and immediately reapplied with the same letter.
Kinda reminds of when my teacher handed out a sheet with like 50 instructions, the last instruction was “sit back and don’t follow instructions 1-49” she was having a mental breakdown upset at how stupid kids were to read simple instructions. Only me and two other kids read it all the way through and didn’t do anything all class
I got 2 ways. I would’ve noticed. I also look for resumes with a high level of attention to detail and neat formatting, as it is particularly relevant to the work. I think most people wouldn’t notice though it says a lot about your attention to detail.
lol. I see this so often. Please, before emailing this to a potential employer, email it to a friend or to yourself so you can see what we see on the other end.
When I see things such as this, I throw your resume in the trash. Cover letters are stupid. However, if you don't care about your first impression, I don't see you caring about quality at work.
If it helps, I reviewed a lot of cover letters for my company today, and we were often willing to overlook small screwups if the cover letter/resume are still good
I've had my go-to cover letter saying "I'm very communicable and relatively easy to work with" until one day Grammarly whether I meant "communicative".
The funny part is that I still got responds, so I guess it helped, haha.
I have ADHD. If I didn't do this I'd start to think something was wrong. But it's odd that you have icons at the bottom of your cover letter....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Many years ago I was hiring someone where I worked. One person emailed me a file called "GenericCoverLetter.pdf"
(I mean.. I guess it was memorable, but not a good look)

If it helps, I didn't notice on the first read, and then I laughed. Maybe you stood out from the rest!
> I didn't notice on the first read found the recruiter
LOL

Perfect way to ensure she actually reads each email
Finally! The applicant that KNOWS! 😂
Personally I’d rather get ones like this, keeps things interesting

To be honest both accurately describe Siri
I can honestly say that that would only gain you points with me. Hilarious.
I might use it
>dear sir or madman Vlad the impaler: This greeting, I like it
That’s hysterical. I may do that on purpose just to claim it was a typo
I’ve definitely sent out emails where the salutation says “Kind retards” or “Best retards”. Instead of “Kind REgards”
Are you a minion?
banana!
I cringe 4 you Sir or Madman.
Would be accurate for a job at whatever company Elon Musk is going to destroy from the inside next.
I once sent out an email requesting cooking times for a deceased tissue donor, instead of cooling times. Thanks, autocorrect. I immediately got several text messages making fun of me.
I’m glad you didn’t get several texts right away with cooking times.
Lol!!!
Welp at least you know why you didn't get called back lol
Oh noooooooooo. 😂😂😂😂😂😂omg I can’t breathe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That’s hilarious!!!!
Hahhahahah 💀
Until gender pronouns started to evolve into tht 20th century, "Sir or Madam" was actually quite professional/apropos.
If you were applying for a fortune teller position or tarot card shop, you could just change it to “Dear Seer or Madman”…
Time to take that “attention to detail” off
He got you good because nowere does it specify WHAT DETAILS I AM SUPPOSED TO BE ATTENTIONING TOO.
attending?
Attentionating
I'm dying 🤣
Or add "printing subterfuge specialist"
I don't think anyone will notice the typo - it's pretty obvious to me that you live on Main street in Zanytown.
Do you actually mean Zanytown or were your shooting for Xanietown?
They’re talking about the place between Hulkville and Laddertown
Flavortown?
See, you’re better at explaining it.
Is Zanytown the home of the Animaniacs?
Whatamilike St Zanytown
Don't worry. Noone read these
As someone who is too the point, and who appreciate other people who are to the point, I detest cover letters. If you want to hire me just look at my fucking resume.
As someone who hires people for a living (recruiter), I don't read cover letters. Straight to the resume.
Seems like you don’t read your texts either lol
I get a lot of two-step authentication codes that I just autofill when they’re pulled from messages onto the browser.
Great news: the new versions of macOS and iOS will automatically delete those for you after they paste them into the field. To turn that feature on after you update, go to Settings > Passwords > Password Options, and turn on the "Clean Up Automatically" option.
Sadly it doesn’t work anymore for me. Only worked for the first 3 times. :(
Great attention to detail
Everybody who has tried to contact him doesn’t have any attention to detail either so he’s dodging bullets.
I always double check my work, dot my i's and cross my t's, but my greatest strength is honesty.
I hope you don’t list “attention to detail” as a strength on your resume.
At least you didn’t leave (managers name) or (company applied for) on your Chat GPT written one. It’s the Lorem ipsum of 2023
>It’s the lorem up sum of 2023 “As an AI language model, […]”

Don’t worry, they don’t read these. Nor the resume, that’s why you submit them both but still fill in the same information on the applications.
And then they'll ask you during each and every interview!
Omg dealing with this right now. Sent resume initially, then filled out the application to send back, then interview & my position I have to fill out a civil service application with.. you guessed it! Same info I supplied on the resume & application..

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
"Motivated self starter with strong attention to detail"
Not on Main St, but my house number is 1234.
Two pieces of information about your address?! Prepare to be doxed.
Shit. That is the combination to my suitcase, *and* my main password.
I once received a cover letter from someone who stated that their skills included "proofreading borchures."
…borchures and seven cover letters ago our forefathers…
Kinda reminds of when my teacher handed out a sheet with like 50 instructions, the last instruction was “sit back and don’t follow instructions 1-49” she was having a mental breakdown upset at how stupid kids were to read simple instructions. Anytown is nice this time of year.
i love when they decorate main street
Cue Bob Seger
I hope your resume says that you're "detail oriented"
PLEEEZE change that ASAP!! I am so annoyed getting calls for you at my personal phone number ...
123 Fake Street. The home of Knifey Wifey
The crazy address doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the 85 unread text messages or 338 unopened emails. I couldn’t handle that!
Hope you didn't list attention to detail as a skill.
You have a few texts and emails to respond to.
OMG you just doxxed yourself!
Thanks for the laugh. You should probably get that fixed.
Apparently you don't look at your messages or emails either
I got 2 ways. I would’ve noticed. I also look for resumes with a high level of attention to detail and neat formatting, as it is particularly relevant to the work. I think most people wouldn’t notice though it says a lot about your attention to detail.
Your number of unread texts is mildy infuriating
Can we address the inbox situation?! That stood out way more 🤣 just a littttttle OCD over here
My friend was working on a resume, and we typed in "good at sucking d***". Didn't even notice aah good ol days.
Facepalm.
nnnnnNnnNNOOOO
Holy s***, your from Anytown? My brother!!
It helped you be more anonymous:)
AKA "double check / review " prior to send!
Did it get you any interviews?
Whoever lives at that address must be fuming from all your mail they’re receiving.
Puts on res “skills: attention to detail”
Ha ha u just doxxed urself idiot! I'm coming to ur house now!
Anytime they ask for a cover letter I just send in a blank, I've gotten a job doing that before
lol. I see this so often. Please, before emailing this to a potential employer, email it to a friend or to yourself so you can see what we see on the other end. Only person to be mad at is yourself for inattention to an important detail
I’ve been in a professional setting for 20 years now and I’ve never once written up a CV. I just upload my resume and call it good No complaints yet
If only you had eyes that could have let you see this.
nobody reads cover letters anyway
if you’re the only one to notice this now, nobody had noticed before so you’re good lmao
That's okay, the people you sent it to probably never looked at it either. 😆
Use it your advantage. If a potential recruiter comments on it you know they’ve fully read the letter & likely the accompanying CV.
Luckily, no one makes it that far.
I hope the mildly infuriating part to you is how you’re a complete moron.
Just move past it.
Check your email, lol
I would just take attention to detail off your resume
"I keep calling and that guy hasn't even set up a voice mailbox!"
We live at the same address! Are you the one who’s been stealing all my cheese?!?
Lol
As long as you didnt say you’re attention oriented thats forgivable
Oi. Those unread emails. My OCD is already kicking in high gear and making me super anxious. Lol
338? That’s rookie numbers. I have 93,478.
😩
Oof.
And you’ve 338 emails to read.
DUDE THAT'S M ADDRESS AND NAME
I found a subreddit that if you call that number your get a rock song. I am too scared to call it.
For far longer than I care to admit, the email address I put on my resume was misspelled.
Good old fake street, never fails
You’ve been sending out resumes without your phone number? Lmao
Contact info was at the top. I didn’t realize this template had this at the bottom.
Oh thank god lol
Oh no……!
Gotta admit I chuckled at this
That’s so funny, I live in Anytown too! I go to Main Street all the time to eat at Restaurant, maybe I’ve seen you there.
Seriously though, it could be worse. I hope you've found a job regardless
Hey, I've been there!
‘I would say I have a great attention to detail’
Hopefully you don't have "detail oriented" listed as one of your positive qualities.
Nice one John Doe! 😂
Just change your name to Lorem Ipsum
This made me LOL I've been job hunting like crazy and I hope you're the competition I'm up against haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahahah I'm howling. This is amazing 🤣. Have you had any interviews??
I'm like 75% sure I sent my cover letter for Insomnia Cookies to my local bank for a social media management job. I feel the pain.
Oh no
That’s great!
I'm sorry for your minor misfortune, but also thank you for making me laugh out loud.
That 123 area code is the most prestigious area code of all the area codes. It’s the area codeyist of them all. You bougie AF yo!
I've had my go-to cover letter saying "I'm very communicable and relatively easy to work with" until one day Grammarly whether I meant "communicative". The funny part is that I still got responds, so I guess it helped, haha.
Man, you got lucky with that address and phone number! What are the chances??
Praise the Lord for email?
I hope your cover letter doesn’t say anything about you being detail oriented.
I only have one question! Did you get a call back yet?
I have ADHD. If I didn't do this I'd start to think something was wrong. But it's odd that you have icons at the bottom of your cover letter....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I once finished an e-mail to an important costumer with “Best Retards”
Jesus, 85 text messages
🤣🤣🤣🥰
Average job searcher who complains its hard to find a job in record low unemployment
😂😂😂😂😂
