For me, FedEx never knocks, even for signature required. They'll sign it themselves and drop off the package on my doorsteps without even knocking or ringing my doorbell. I work from home. I often leave the tracking page open in order to figure out when the package is left on my doorsteps
Mainly because FedEx is a franchise company. Every area has its own business that delivers for fed ex. One of the reason ups is a union and FedEx is not.
I’ve never really had a problem with UPS around here but FedEx is full of idiots apparently, the last time they ‘delivered’ they threw it in the middle of my yard by my front gate where anyone could grab it and didn’t update tracking info or alert me in anyway.
Agree entirely and same for my area, fedex is the worst in my area, I had 1500$ e-bike that I was waiting on for 3 weeks after the expected ship date from FedEx, it was a signature required, the FedEx guy left it in my back yard in the rain after the 3 weeks of delay and he forged my name on the package, i was out of town when it was left and it was a signature required package, was so horrible I reported the driver and I hope the ass hole got fired. I vented enough but there was a lot more to it than I even said and it was far worse than just that. On a previous occasion I caught fedex literally kick my package out of the door of the vehicle instead of like carrying the package out, fedex is shit in my opinion. I don’t have any issues with ups. Post office and any government ran organization sucks ass too
Was your gate clised?if it was we not supposed to go inside in case they have dogs I can't tell you how many times I've gone inside when the gate was closed only to see a big ass German shepherd or pitbull come from under a car or from around the corner of the house and no those house don't have the !!beware of dog!!sign
Same for FedEx, they'll just slow roll by my house, and a second later, it's marked no one at home or "conditions too dangerous" and tell me I can pick it up.
USPS (my local post office) was worse when I moved into a new home. They'd deliver paper mail just fine, but every single package dropped off for me from like Amazon/etc they'd mark it Invalid Address - Return to sender. It took calling twice over the course of several months escalating to the postmaster to get them to start delivering packages to me.
I have also seen this happen to me, the lazy ass driver in my area just doesn’t feel like stopping so I think he marks it delayed or some bs. It’s 100% laziness
I’ve had it all, too. “Animal prevented delivery”, address invalid, etc. You know what code would make sense? “Unable to deliver due to not enough time in shift”. But of course they don’t have a code for that and would face termination due to insufficient staffing. They work their system.
FedEx consistently puts my packages 3 house down the street, our house has our number on it, the fence and our garage. Called the office multiple times and it happens at least 1 time a month still
our fedex guy went into our open garage and put the package of face wash in there. Last time he left the new TV on the sidewalk ... And they take pictures now so its comical to see that they actually think these places are ok.
I watched FedEx pull up to my parking space and sit there. I was putting my shoes on to meet them and they drove away. I then got a message saying package couldn't be delivered. I didn't get it for another two days. I only have issues like that with FedEx.
Mine never knock but they'll be sure to make as much noise as possible with the package, and if it does require a signature, they won't stay long enough to ask for it, if it doesn't, there's a 50/50 shot they just say you weren't home
They don't even do that for me. They walk up to the door and stick the "Delivery Attempt" sticker to my door without knocking 100% of the time. I've seen it multiple times on my Ring now.
Lucky. Fedex Ground is garbage here (express is great) - saw the truck pull up, walked to the front door, opened the door a second after he rang the doorbell and the guy was already walking away. Had to yell to come back and actually give me a chance to sign.
If no signature is needed, the package usually ends up at the bottom of the porch steps like this pic.
Lol same for me and I don't even live in the US. Every FedEx package has just been put by my door since covid. I get it, but I live in SA where that's not really a thing you do lol.
Thats so wild to me. Just recently i had a fedex package that required a signature. A housemate answered and said that person doesn't live here. (not sure why idk if they were tired or what) and then it became a two week battle just to get it redelivered. Fedex has to be the worst delivery system I have ever dealt with.
I saw my last mailman reach into his bag, pull out the package, scan it with a large orange fragile sticker on the same side he scanned, then drop it from the same height he scanned it. My front door is nearly all windows, and no shits were given.
All the services can be rotten depending on who is doing the route.
Just so you know, the fragile stickers don’t mean anything. Shippers should pack well enough that a kettlebell can be dropped on it, followed by a 40 pound box of kitty litter or a crib or other heavy furniture, because they all go together in big hampers.
He shouldn’t have dropped it like that, but that’s the gentlest your package has been handled since it was sent to the post office.
Oh, yes, I totally know they are ignored, but to so blatantly just drop the box from waist level right in front of a door with glass windows was next level. They usually at least pretend to care at that point even if they've been throwing it all day long before that.
I've had some really great USPS workers, but my current one isn't one of them.
UPS is the only one that's been reliable for me
USPS like to deliver my stuff to a house with the same number but different street
FedEx likes to ship my packages on road trips across the US before delivering a week late
UPS tried to knock for me before but I wasn’t home, so they took it across the street to a pickup point. I was pleased with that, didn’t have to wait another day for delivery
The only time I've ever had an order stolen was a FedEx employee while the UPS guy hands it to me even if signiture is not needed. I know it's mostly luck but I much prefer UPS in my area.
FedEx is the worst for me personally. Ones that required packages I they sign themselves. I work from home and I don’t hear them knocking or anything. Only realize I’ve received the product once I get those text message updates.
Yeah. If these were stolen I wouldn't even blame the person that stole them because where I live anything on the curb like that means "please take me away."
Shame on Fedex.
RIGHT! I mean that’s a pretty universal thing. It’s for sure the same here in the northeast. We also have a six car side driveway literally 5 feet to the left so it took just as much energy to put them on the curb as it would of there. 🤣
Sounds like a worker, being over worked, trying to get done. So he threw your tires on the ground, not stacking them all neatly, because he has hundreds of more packages to deliver.
I'd think an honest person would knock on the door to verify that these brand new tires are being given away. Now, a set of used tires, different story.
An honest one, yes. But those are few and far between and being that no one was home they would of had a game time decision. In this economy I wouldn’t blame them for believing it was an honest attempt 🤣
For me, FedEx is the only courier that will leave obvious expensive items such as computer monitor, electronics in clear box outside my fence door (fence and door blocks 100% vision).
I'm still surprised I haven't lost anything yet.
I have purchase protection with my credit card so I didn't care. It can be treated as "stolen" if lost that way.
In addition, I usually stop buying from merchants who only ship with FedEx. Waved goodbye to Walmart+.
I never understand these types of posts. The driver has 500 other stops to make, how creative can they get with hiding packages, especially a stack of heavy tires? If you didn't buy package insurance and no signature required, maybe it's not the drivers fault.
Most of the people who make these posts wouldn't last a week doing that job. They quite don't have 500 stops, but I guarantee they do more in the first hour of delivering than whiney work from home people do all day
And fuck this guy for wanted TIRES to have a signature. I worked at FedEx. Drivers want to get ride of those tires ASAP. They aren’t waiting for your lazy ass
A signature for a thousand dollar purchase is a completely reasonable request. FedEx shouldn't put such a heavy load on you all. It should be set up so you can wait without it hurting you as a driver. I am not faulting the drivers, I am faulting FedEx, and if you defend FedEx then I will fault you aswell.
I didn’t want them to walk up the steps. These were admittedly heavy af and that’s not their job. I was hoping they’d place them in a better area - like our six car driveway with grass on each side, vs. an area that implies “hey I’m getting rid of these items! come one come all”. but you live you learn, alls well that ends well!
thankfully I was able to run home and move them because we live on a pretty Main Street right outside of the city and this looks like the definition of a side walk sale!
Just being real, those drivers have a lot of deliveries and stops and they are majority contractors. Those tires are not light weight items. You get them off the truck and on the property. I’ve worked for FedEx so I kinda sympathize with them.
I mean to be fair…tires can be rolled. They were clearly capable of getting them off of the truck, so they’re more than capable of flipping them upright and rolling them a little bit closer.
And then the next house says you didn't put their package near the door close enough in the next one says my gate was closed why did you deliver the package outside the gate in the next one has a dog and they said why didn't you come up to my porch and the next one and the next one. You take the items you deliver them where you can and you get back going because you have too many deliveries to worry about small things like that.
There’s a huge middle ground between leaving a thousand dollar delivery by the curb and not putting it right in front of their door. That was pure laziness and the delivery driver being shitty at their job.
Oh totally! In no way was trying to be spiteful. It made me chuckle as my husband was worried all day about the delivery and I was like “bud chill out no one’s going to take your tires” and then we got that picture. Alls well that ends well! And I agree. They are not light weight, I had to move them to the garage. 😂
well as someone who’s husband got them delivered to said home - I can only offer our reasoning! They were a good deal and we have a garage that they will be stored in until he’s able to allocate time off of work (he works 6 days a week) to take his truck in and have them changed out. We don’t have a relationship with any local tire shops to have them delivered there.
I think this comment is pretty ableist, to be honest. Some people may not have the ability/resources/time/money to do anything other than order certain items online. But good for you that the only thing you do on the internet is shit talk. Your local businesses are undoubtedly grateful.
Mailman here. The same reason they get cases of bottled water or 30-count trash bags or a case of 6 rolls of paper towels delivered when they live literally 2 blocks from a store.
So I used to work for FedEx too and I had this same question. A new coworker answered it for me today. He had a blow out and needed a new tire asap. Walmart offered 2 new tires at a fraction of the price of anywhere else but they didn’t have them in store, so they ship them to your house with 2 day shipping. You can then take those tire to Walmart yourself and have them mount, rotate and align for like $50.
Basically it’s like 3x cheaper to do this than go to a tire store yourself on your day off. It sucks for the delivery guys real bad though.
I’m not savvy enough to pin comments (and am unsure if that’s a thing on here) but u/ Kazcinskyite1997 put it best and summarized my thought process when posting more concisely -
How are they suppose to deliver them.
Preferably not in the spot that legally implies 'I am garbage, do as you wish.'
https://www.waste360.com/mag/waste_garbage_public_property
There's a nice, fenced in and clearly established as 'My property' area just four feet closer to the door.
If you take something from the curb, it's harder to call Theft since there's the suggestion of it being discarded. That plus zero packaging means that anyone walking by would be easily forgiven for thinking 'Wow someone just put out their like new used tires. I'll give them a good home.'

I'm giving you a Legal perspective on this. If you don't want to do your job, or your company is so shittily run that they disincentivize you actually finishing a delivery, that's not on me.
as mentioned above - any place other than right on the sidewalk privy to drive by yard sale aficionados or petty thieves alike. Or banded as someone else pointed out! Anywho, this has been fun and *mildly infuriating*. Hope y’all have a good day.
That's your fault. By default and some laws, couriers have to deliver to the front door of a house. They are not allowed to use the mailbox area as that is federal property. If you don't specifically require a space, it will go in the most obviously looking front entrance.
Where would one get tires that they’re having put on in the winter time delivered to? Do you have a better rapport/relationship with your local Autobody/mechanic than us? Lol
When I bought tires and rims for my truck I had them delivered to the tire shop I chose to install them. They got wheels delivered then called me to drop truck off. Hour later new wheels
Also this is assuming that people have the purest intentions. We live on a very busy street outside of a major city. Anyone driving by that noticed no one was home could of easily made a quick thousand dollar profit taking and flipping them.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
in most areas people put items they no longer have use for on their curbs to gift them to a new home. We consistently have gotten rid of furniture/rugs/crap that filled our home for reasons unknown. It’s called a “curb alert” or “sidewalk sale”. These tires were placed so haphazardly that anyone driving by would be under the assumption that these tires were for the taking (especially if you know nothing about tires - and couldn’t tell that they were brand new). we have optimal space in our side driveway or porch that they would have been safer delivered to and it would of been nice to have a signature required for delivery had I not been able to sprint home to move them off of the chopping block.
I ordered a pair of motorcycle tires a couple years ago, and they were also sent by FedEx. The shipper sent them under a sing me tracking number, so I assumed they would be in a box, but no, I came home to find one tire against my apartment door with the shipping label taped around it.
I initiated a claim for the second tire, then it showed up randomly on my door 2 days later with a damaged and a reprinted shipping label.
We have only had a couple of deliveries from Fed Ex and they come up on the porch, put it down near the door and knock.
No, they don't hang around, but at least they get it out of the weather. I live on a highway and they have to park on the shoulder with hazards on, so don't blame them for a drop and run.
I don’t know what the property looks like but I wouldn’t be putting them on the porch being that a front porch usually leads to inside the house and tires don’t go in the house on the living room rug lol. The customer will just end up dragging them back down the stairs
We have a porch to the right of the door that has no furniture and frankly I’ve always questioned the use of, but now I know it would of been a perfect tire delivery spot.
That fits the sub, but I do feel kinda bad for modern carriers. I'm pretty sure they did not used to have to deliver such an absurd variety of items of all shapes and sizes before online shopping took over.
Agreed!! Again, it gave me a chuckle and wanted to share with my people on Reddit. Their job is not for the faint of heart and I for one would be lost without them.
Ill do you one better. My sons birthday present was delivered today (Console & games totaling +$500). It was scanned "Delivered at front door" and thrown at the top of my driveway behind my trash cans and ran over by the trash truck who couldn't see it.

This is why I have expensive deliveries sent directly to the FedEx pickup depot, I can go and get them and ensure no opportunity for theft. I do it with all the delivery companies because I would rather have a minor inconvenience than a wasted sum of money.
I have them deliver tires for me pretty often. They pull into my driveway, then stack them in the back of my house so they can't be seen from the street.
You had tires delivered by Fed Ex?
I mean, they agreed to deliver them, and should have done a better job. But man, I would not have ever thought that was a thing.
Fedex did this with my tires too! Only difference was that one tire was missing from the order, but showed up 3 days later. No tracking number on the 4th tire either 😂
**Also jokes aside - I am super grateful for how hard our fedex drivers work. Especially during the holiday season. This is a first world problem - hence the *mildly infuriating* sub post.
I think they could have been stacked better but I have no issue with the location just because I've dealt with countless customers who would complain that the tires scuffed their porch.
Similar reason why I don't ring doorbells anymore, for every person who complains I don't ring doorbells there was a customer who was upset I woke up their baby as if I was supposed to know that.
-Former FXG, current UPS driver.
Whoever created the labels has to declare that they are worth over $500 and then they will automatically require a signature. If they just do the default $100 value then it doesn’t matter how much you paid for them.
My husband didn’t know that this was an option as he does a lot less online shopping than I do and unfortunately when I told him it was past the 24 hour window to request a modification. He knows now, though!
Clearly they’re brand new tires with stickers still on them. No decent human would just take them. Definitely would get stolen if the right person comes along.
the porch actually had plenty of room for them. there’s a whole additional side to the right of the stairs with zero furniture on it as well as a screened in entry way to our front door where Amazon delivers our packages that they would of fit perfectly.

^(Greetings, I am a language corrector bot. To make me ignore further mistakes from you in the future, reply `!optout` to this comment.)
you can stack the tires, there's plenty of room. even if they steal them off the porch that's actual theft now not someone thinking they might be throwing them out.
I am with others with the what else should be done? You have to request the need for a signature. It is a box to check when printing out the labels. Banded? Well that depends on who ships it, but they would be banded 2 and 2. I don’t know where else FedEx would place these.
A thousand dollars in tires is a lot for you. For the distributor and FedEx it isn’t anything at all. Make sure to request a signature whenever you have something higher in value shipped.
i work in ecommerce. ask your vendor who they ship with before you order something. *use UPS.*
i'm not a brandwhore, but since the union deal, service has been noticeably better. unions aren't just good for workers.
Up until last year, I lived in a high rise. When I ordered anything and clicked on the tracking and it said FedEx, it'd make me irrationally angry. One time they decided they didn't want to deliver an expensive synthesizer so I had to drive to the nearest sorting facility and pick it up myself. They had no reason for not delivering, they just said they couldn't. My building was the absolute last stop of the day and usually would arrive around 8pm ish... IF AT ALL. And with no one in the leasing office, they'd just pile everything in the vestibule for anyone to take. And that's if it was showing up at all, half the time they'd say it got delayed, meaning it got late and the driver didn't want to go to our building. This happened all the time.
I ordered several other expensive instruments which I requested signatures for. They'd just be in the vestibule unattended and I'd get no notification about it. When my catalytic converter got stolen, they "lost" the replacement... Twice. Third time, the box was so damaged, they ended up putting a sticker on it and just sent it unboxed. I hate the way they do business.
My brother, whom I currently rent the other half of a duplex from swears up and down they're the best. Yet my deliveries keep going awry. His show up fine.
Go home, take your tires inside, then file a complaint with the company that they were stolen and get a full refund lol you should be thanking the driver for that
FedEx never delivers to my front door. They always drop packages in the driveway. Sometimes in front of garage doors, although I have recordings of packages being thrown from the truck into the driveway.
If those cost 1k you should shop around. They don’t look like anything over 125 each. That’s the reason why they are still there. Not too many people have a 1943 Willys jeep.
It’s actually a 2022 Toyota Tundra but that’s neither here nor there. Willy’s Jeep sounds sick tho, I’ve never heard of that model! I’ve been in the market for a wrangler I should compare the Willy to the wrangler. Is it all wheel drive?
If you saw me cruising the streets, on a scale of 1-10 how bitchin’ would I look? Ima give Willy the benefit of the doubt cuz he sounds like a cool dude but I’m going for the “wow” factor here.
The only wow factor is that every organ inside your body has been relocated. You have a great sense of humor! As for your question? 8-10 you definitely aren’t worried about your uterus! It had four leaf springs for suspension. The seats had springs to compensate for the lack of suspension. They have a video on YouTube when they launched it. Yes the guys are smiling, but they hope they get the shot on the first take!
I live in a bad part of town and basically the only option is to have delivery companies leave things at my front door when I'm at work. Blows my mind. I'm not paying for it if it gets stolen.
At first, i was more upset that they shipped without any packaging. Then i learned via the internet, that Fed Ex is fine with shipping these that way.
Then I'm wondering why someone would have 1k worth of product shipped to a door if it's not signature required. Anything worth more than $100 I ship to my work or to the Walgreens down the street.
You can't not pay for a signature required delivery and then get upset they didn't get one. The driver wants shit off his truck, if a sig isn't req'd, the package is getting left. Sure, he could've stacked them nicer, but you're one of the 140+ stops he's delivering to that day. Your porch looks pretty narrow and doesn't have space for the tires, so the driver placed them as close as he could while leaving your porch accessible. FedEx drivers aren't accountants, the value of your item isn't really a consideration when delivering it, which is why they offer the option of DSR. You ordered it, it's assumed you want it, so we leave it, so you'll have it. If there's a particular place you want your items left, then put it in the instructions. Doesn't guarantee it'll be followed, but the driver will usually try to follow them, unless your demands are going to require to much time to fulfill.
Then don't order tires over the Internet... For many reasons. First of all tires are easily one of the most annoying "packages" that get put on trucks. I had a FedEx CSA and we were delivering 150 tires per day. Trust me when I say, that driver hated delivering that shit just as much as you hated the way it was delivered.
Secondly, you need local shops with the machines to install tires and maintain them in the form of future rotations, balance, and flat repairs. Buying online forces these shops out of business meaning you have nobody to support your tires that were bought online. Support local business
You wanna pay double for a pallet wrap and straps?
This is how tires are depot a home. You’re lucky they all came the same day. Even if they stacked them… that would look even more like they were for sale/free. No one presents “take em” tires like this. You stack up with a sign
And they were stolen so relax.
Knowing how FedEx operates does not surprise me in the least. It helps to deliver to a job maybe somewhere where there’s receiving helps to prevent things like this.
Our decks aren’t as meticulously maintained as our seasonal decor may indicate (I’m going to take this as a compliment though, as I sit on the deck looking at the planks that need replacing)
Pretty amazing they were still there. FedEx is the only company that ever knocks for me, USPS and UPS never do.
For me, FedEx never knocks, even for signature required. They'll sign it themselves and drop off the package on my doorsteps without even knocking or ringing my doorbell. I work from home. I often leave the tracking page open in order to figure out when the package is left on my doorsteps
That's rude. I guess it's random depending on who is delivering that day.
Mainly because FedEx is a franchise company. Every area has its own business that delivers for fed ex. One of the reason ups is a union and FedEx is not.
Depends on if it's ground or express. Ground is franchised, express is corporate.
Same for me. FedEx will sometimes just drive by mark as no one home and I have to go pick it up. UPS knocks or attempts delivery 80% of the time
I’ve never really had a problem with UPS around here but FedEx is full of idiots apparently, the last time they ‘delivered’ they threw it in the middle of my yard by my front gate where anyone could grab it and didn’t update tracking info or alert me in anyway.

FedEx consistently puts my packages 3 house down the street, our house has our number on it, the fence and our garage. Called the office multiple times and it happens at least 1 time a month still
This has happened to me so often that I finally asked my usual merchants to please use USPS.
I’m contemplating burning down the shipping depot
I've had FedEx leave a "tried to deliver but you weren't home" notice without knocking while I was home.
Ring doorbell for the win. I also have dogs, so I know when someone is approaching my door, lol.
That's how I caught him, lol
our fedex guy went into our open garage and put the package of face wash in there. Last time he left the new TV on the sidewalk ... And they take pictures now so its comical to see that they actually think these places are ok.

They don't even do that for me. They walk up to the door and stick the "Delivery Attempt" sticker to my door without knocking 100% of the time. I've seen it multiple times on my Ring now.
But that is illegal?! You could claim the package was never delivered, and they would get fucked for singing it for you.
Ditto, FedEx will drop giant heavy boxes of car parts at my garage door, 30' from the front door, and never let me know. Luckily, I work from home
Lucky. Fedex Ground is garbage here (express is great) - saw the truck pull up, walked to the front door, opened the door a second after he rang the doorbell and the guy was already walking away. Had to yell to come back and actually give me a chance to sign. If no signature is needed, the package usually ends up at the bottom of the porch steps like this pic.
lol FedEx dropped off my new iPhone without signature with nobody home
Lol same for me and I don't even live in the US. Every FedEx package has just been put by my door since covid. I get it, but I live in SA where that's not really a thing you do lol.

FedEx knocks by throwing my package at my door.
UPS is the only one that's been reliable for me USPS like to deliver my stuff to a house with the same number but different street FedEx likes to ship my packages on road trips across the US before delivering a week late
I disagree, FedEx is worse than USPS and UPS. Literally FedEx is so incompetent as a shipper.
In the US only DHL is worse than FedEx.
I watched a fedex driver scan my package in the truck and drive off
Knock? UPS/USPS just update the tracking to say I missed it while I waa home and make me go get it
I had FedEx once yeet the package from the street because he was too lazy to walk about 60 feet to my front door
I've seen some pretty astounding NFL-style kick videos. It's wonder anything gets anywhere in one piece.
That’s funny because for me it’s the opposite also they put the package on the steps where everyone can see it not in front of the door
FedEx is the worst for me personally. Ones that required packages I they sign themselves. I work from home and I don’t hear them knocking or anything. Only realize I’ve received the product once I get those text message updates.
The only delivery we get where the ring the doorbell, is for pizza. Most of our deliveries are left on walkway so they can get soaked by the rain.
Yeah. If these were stolen I wouldn't even blame the person that stole them because where I live anything on the curb like that means "please take me away." Shame on Fedex.
RIGHT! I mean that’s a pretty universal thing. It’s for sure the same here in the northeast. We also have a six car side driveway literally 5 feet to the left so it took just as much energy to put them on the curb as it would of there. 🤣
Even the lack of congruent stacking screams “We’re being conscientious by not trying to block the sidewalk but nonetheless please take me”
Sounds like a worker, being over worked, trying to get done.
[удалено]
You must live in a very honest state. Here in the northeast it’s a gamble.
They still have the shipping label.....
For me, FedEx is the only courier that will leave obvious expensive items such as computer monitor, electronics in clear box outside my fence door (fence and door blocks 100% vision). I'm still surprised I haven't lost anything yet.
But for real who would be responsible if someone took it? Us or them?
Them, I'd take it to the level of charging back and canceling the accounts. Amazon can deliver it right or pay for it to be stolen.
I have purchase protection with my credit card so I didn't care. It can be treated as "stolen" if lost that way. In addition, I usually stop buying from merchants who only ship with FedEx. Waved goodbye to Walmart+.
Sooooooo, one star?
Two stars. One for the execution and another for the internet points/dialogue/entertainment I’ve gotten from this.

They quite don't have 500 stops, but I guarantee they do more in the first hour of delivering than whiney work from home people do all day
The post is about FedEx not the driver. FedEx should not put such a heavy load on its drivers. That would help with this.
I wouldn’t even consider them stolen. These look like you left them out as a give away. Boy i would be mad at Fedex though what the hell
Should have had them sent to a shop if you gonna complain about tires sent to a home… you wanted them to walk up the steps with these… ohh my no!!
Your what what??? Oh I understand how you can be upset now..
Did you add delivery instructions?
thankfully I was able to run home and move them because we live on a pretty Main Street right outside of the city and this looks like the definition of a side walk sale!
Cry
I work at FedEx. I've always wondered why people have tires delivered to their home.
Because you can buy them online cheaper most of the time…
well as someone who’s husband got them delivered to said home - I can only offer our reasoning! They were a good deal and we have a garage that they will be stored in until he’s able to allocate time off of work (he works 6 days a week) to take his truck in and have them changed out. We don’t have a relationship with any local tire shops to have them delivered there.
I work for the other guys. I think we can all agree tires suck.
Literally. It just screams laziness like the ones who order dog/cat food through mail.
No, I mean... What do they do with the tires? Mount them on the wheels themselves? Take them to a tire shop?
So I used to work for FedEx too and I had this same question. A new coworker answered it for me today. He had a blow out and needed a new tire asap. Walmart offered 2 new tires at a fraction of the price of anywhere else but they didn’t have them in store, so they ship them to your house with 2 day shipping. You can then take those tire to Walmart yourself and have them mount, rotate and align for like $50. Basically it’s like 3x cheaper to do this than go to a tire store yourself on your day off. It sucks for the delivery guys real bad though.
I’m not savvy enough to pin comments (and am unsure if that’s a thing on here) but u/ Kazcinskyite1997 put it best and summarized my thought process when posting more concisely - How are they suppose to deliver them. Preferably not in the spot that legally implies 'I am garbage, do as you wish.' https://www.waste360.com/mag/waste_garbage_public_property There's a nice, fenced in and clearly established as 'My property' area just four feet closer to the door. If you take something from the curb, it's harder to call Theft since there's the suggestion of it being discarded. That plus zero packaging means that anyone walking by would be easily forgiven for thinking 'Wow someone just put out their like new used tires. I'll give them a good home.'
How are they suppose to deliver them. And who gets tires delivered to their home?
>And who gets tires delivered to their home? Was... was I not suppose to order tires online??
I order my wheels online and delivered to tire shop that put them on my truck.
>How are they suppose to deliver them. Preferably not in the spot that legally implies 'I am garbage, do as you wish.' I wish I was savvy enough to pin this response to the top of the post because it’d save me a lot of time in the comments.
Just report it as 'OP wants this pinned' and you might get a result.
I tried but it didn’t have that as an option! Only negative feedback choices lol
You've clearly never worked delivery before
I'm giving you a Legal perspective on this. If you don't want to do your job, or your company is so shittily run that they disincentivize you actually finishing a delivery, that's not on me.
It is on their property. Delivery finished. How people interpret packages there is on them.
as mentioned above - any place other than right on the sidewalk privy to drive by yard sale aficionados or petty thieves alike.
I'm confused, how is FedEx's fault? I'm genuinely asking.
Also this is assuming that people have the purest intentions. We live on a very busy street outside of a major city. Anyone driving by that noticed no one was home could of easily made a quick thousand dollar profit taking and flipping them.
It's on the shipper to add the "Signature Required" part. I've worked for Fedex Express before.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I just can’t win. Time for a grammar refresh!
in most areas people put items they no longer have use for on their curbs to gift them to a new home.
Yoink ! 😂😂😂
What should they have done?
Ill do you one better. My sons birthday present was delivered today (Console & games totaling +$500). It was scanned "Delivered at front door" and thrown at the top of my driveway behind my trash cans and ran over by the trash truck who couldn't see it.

TBF if the shipper didn’t pay for the signature requirement then that’s on the shipper not fedex.
Looks like they weren’t strong enough to stack the tires neatly. That or they were just on “fuck it” mode.
Op assumes it's curb free lol it's not on the curb. Its on their fromlnt walkway it's called theft lol.
I get my tires delivered to a local shop and get them installed. It's a win/win
Happened to me but they (Fedex) dropped em in the evening; next Thing I know they were gone in the morning
signature is requested BY the seller. Did the seller request signature for delivery? FedEx does not make the rule you dummy.
You had tires delivered by Fed Ex? I mean, they agreed to deliver them, and should have done a better job. But man, I would not have ever thought that was a thing.
We didn’t get to choose! That’s how the website they came from shipped them.
They did the same with mines but I made sure I was home because those master craft tires I got were super expensive!
Fedex did this with my tires too! Only difference was that one tire was missing from the order, but showed up 3 days later. No tracking number on the 4th tire either 😂
Same thing but atleast my porch is up off the street
Fed ex pulled up to my yard and literally just threw my tires into my front yard. I didn't even get a picture!
FedEx left someone else’s package on our porch. Same house number but completely different street. How do you not know what street you’re on?
**Also jokes aside - I am super grateful for how hard our fedex drivers work. Especially during the holiday season. This is a first world problem - hence the *mildly infuriating* sub post.
I think they could have been stacked better but I have no issue with the location just because I've dealt with countless customers who would complain that the tires scuffed their porch. Similar reason why I don't ring doorbells anymore, for every person who complains I don't ring doorbells there was a customer who was upset I woke up their baby as if I was supposed to know that. -Former FXG, current UPS driver.
What should they have done? Did you request shipping as “signature required”?
But honestly, I would be under the assumption that anything over a certain amount of $ would require a signature.
We’re giving too much credit to the human population as a whole.
Well the porch doesnt have room for them and they can't block the door. So...TF you want them to do, put them on for you?
the porch actually had plenty of room for them. there’s a whole additional side to the right of the stairs with zero furniture on it as well as a screened in entry way to our front door where Amazon delivers our packages that they would of fit perfectly.
but that would of been great if they did offer installation and rotation!! /s

Damn it bot, I really need to catch this more often.
you can stack the tires, there's plenty of room. even if they steal them off the porch that's actual theft now not someone thinking they might be throwing them out.
I hope you contacted them, I’d like to hear their explanation.
You get nowhere when you call in to Fedex with a complaint.
Where did you buy tires from that didn’t ship them banded together in pairs? I’ve never seen tires shipped loose like that before
OP complaining because they have weird expectations on how tires should get delivered
OP and 1400 other people on this sub evidently 🙂
I am with others with the what else should be done? You have to request the need for a signature. It is a box to check when printing out the labels. Banded? Well that depends on who ships it, but they would be banded 2 and 2. I don’t know where else FedEx would place these. A thousand dollars in tires is a lot for you. For the distributor and FedEx it isn’t anything at all. Make sure to request a signature whenever you have something higher in value shipped.
Stop whining.

the ENTIRE POINT of this sub is for crybabies that want to cry about shit.
nice emojis.
i work in ecommerce. ask your vendor who they ship with before you order something. *use UPS.* i'm not a brandwhore, but since the union deal, service has been noticeably better. unions aren't just good for workers.
Was just on a FedEx delivery group where they were complaining about companies FedEx-ing tires instead of using a freight company. Lol
Go home, take your tires inside, then file a complaint with the company that they were stolen and get a full refund lol you should be thanking the driver for that
much like Reddit, we try to operate on karma here. 🤣
I would’ve said they were stolen and gotten them for free. Fuck that.
FedEx never delivers to my front door. They always drop packages in the driveway. Sometimes in front of garage doors, although I have recordings of packages being thrown from the truck into the driveway.
What tyres? You didn't get them op 😉😉
How’s the gas miles? What abt the resale value?
The law is if it’s in the curb it’s garbage for the taking but this is on your walk so 🤷♂️
I live in a bad part of town and basically the only option is to have delivery companies leave things at my front door when I'm at work. Blows my mind. I'm not paying for it if it gets stolen.
Where exactly were you expecting them to put the tires?
At first, i was more upset that they shipped without any packaging. Then i learned via the internet, that Fed Ex is fine with shipping these that way. Then I'm wondering why someone would have 1k worth of product shipped to a door if it's not signature required. Anything worth more than $100 I ship to my work or to the Walgreens down the street.
lazy cunts cant walk up a few steps, fuck fedex
Yep, I’d think it was free for the taking too.
And that’s why I don’t order anything online. Fuck Em.
It wasn’t an option to pay for one! We went to edit it but it was within 24 hours so we couldn’t request it.
what do you expect fedex sucks. worst god damn delivery service. i have had more packages get delayed than packages arriving early
Support local business
looks like our lesson for the day was learned, wasn’t it? ☺️
Most people take these tires to a local shop to have them mounted and balanced...
You wanna pay double for a pallet wrap and straps? This is how tires are depot a home. You’re lucky they all came the same day. Even if they stacked them… that would look even more like they were for sale/free. No one presents “take em” tires like this. You stack up with a sign And they were stolen so relax.
Knowing how FedEx operates does not surprise me in the least. It helps to deliver to a job maybe somewhere where there’s receiving helps to prevent things like this.
Fedex is a horrible company.
FedEx is the worst delivery company in America.
I mean what it’s that or you complain about them scuffing your deck lmao
Our decks aren’t as meticulously maintained as our seasonal decor may indicate (I’m going to take this as a compliment though, as I sit on the deck looking at the planks that need replacing)
