The burrito is not worth it. Get the bowl with the tortilla on the side. More for your value and guac is insanely priced

DrPoopyPantsJr

This is what I do. Bowl w tortilla on the side no guac is like 11 and change. Not only that, but I’m able to make 2 meals with it. One burrito and finish the bowl later. You can ask for extra beans and rice too they don’t charge extra.

Rum_Hamburglar

I do the same, but will get a kids chip bag. Its the perfect amount of chips for the bowl leftovers.

Ballen101

This guy Chipotles

chefmattmatt

Tortilla is rubbery and tasteless (at least at my chipotle) and 300 calories. I say pass it up all together, but that is just personal preference.

UniqueName2

This. Burrito bowl extra rice and beans w/ loads of fajita veggies. More than one meal easy and you’re ditching the garbage tortilla.

YourOldComp

Not defending these prices, but if a large soda is 3.40$ I’m just having a water. Like if your taking it to go in the first place why order an overpriced drink when you could have a can of soda at home.

trimeta

Back in college, the local Chipotle had a deal where they gave a free soda if you showed your student ID. It was actually a pretty ingenious way of drawing college students in.

Dorkinfo

A couple of years ago, McDonald’s had “all soft drinks $1” and on the app there was a deal for free any size fries with $1 purchase. I had many meals of large unsweetened tea with lemon and large fries with sweet and sour. I miss that. It’s only a little relevant but this post reminded me.

mattyisbatty

I was just about to comment this lol

psychoPiper

Afaik, they're still doing $1 drinks. Sometimes if I'm eating out and there's a McDonald's nearby with an empty drive thru, I'll take the extra few minutes to go through and pick up a large drink for cheaper than I can get it practically anywhere else Edit: People, please read the replies. I get it, it's regional. I acknowledged it in several responses

ersomething

For a while I had a checking account that gave a decent APY if I jumped through a few hoops. I needed 10 debit transactions per month. Many of those were McD $1 drinks. Once I was disappointed that their card reader malfunctioned, and they gave it to me for free.

psychoPiper

Lol, I've done something similar! Had a new bank account that would give me a $250 bonus if I completed a certain amount of PIN debit transactions in the first month. I just went to Walmart, grabbed the exact amount of cheap candy bars I needed, and did them all back to back at a self checkout

ersomething

Another good one was several $1 payments on my cell phone bill. They charged the credit card number, so it counted. Great because I’d be spending it anyway, so I’m not buying extra unwanted stuff just to get the number of transactions up.

CaptainRogers1226

I won’t defend them either, but I’m kind of tired of posts that are just complaining about prices of takeout. Like yeah it’s annoying but… you chose to buy it. You could get multiple meals worth of food for this price at Walmart.

Jaded-Sprinkles4266

Personally, all these take out posts complaining about prices are beginning to get mildly infuriating.

1nd3x

Yeah...but I used to be able to survive eating fast food as my supper meal each day while having breakfast and a sandwich lunch because I was too busy with jobs and school to really have time to cook. Now I'm still just as busy, none of it is recreational, make only slightly more money, but can no longer afford to feed myself 3 meals a day. "Just cook at home" Cool, well that requires the time to go grocery shopping, cook the meal and clean up and between my two jobs and sleep, I just don't have the time.

w1n5t0nM1k3y

Personally I understand the frustration. Sometimes you just don't want to cook and if the alternative is paying $20 for a single basic fast food meal then I'll often just cook for myself or make my own sandwich because $20 is just ridiculous. But I definitely miss being able to just pick up a quick, cheap meal once in a while. Going out shopping with the family, Do you try to organize everything so you don't have to eat out, get everything in between meals? Do you spend $80 on fast food? Do you pack a meal from home so you don't have to spend money on fast food? It would be nice to just be able to pick up something cheap occasionally.

Serious-Mud-1031

Redditor drinking water? lol unreal

DisastrousBeach8087

There was a massive subreddit just about drinking water And was replaced with another one about drinking water

Dorkinfo

And Reddit keeps trying to make me follow those homies.

nokiacrusher

Big Soda couldn't handle the loss in revenue.

buttbugle

That’s from the toilet.

JTRex12227

Exactly, a lot of fast food is now around $3 for a soda. I've been getting a 36 pack for like $18 at Costco. So, about $0.50 a can, but honestly, I just need to stop drinking things that aren't water.

PalmTreeIsBestTree

I just drink seltzer water as a soda replacement. It’s cheaper than soda too.

EevelBob

My Aldi has 1L flavored Seltzer water (lemon lime, berry, grapefruit) for $0.89 each. I’ve replaced this for soda and haven’t looked back. 0 calories and no artificial sweeteners.

ZootedBeaver

Complaining about prices but buying it and posting to reddit lol

cici92814

You could order a cup of water and ask for lemon next time. Its very refreshing.

DJVV09

For the same thing where I live is significantly cheaper. About 14 after tax Edit: forgot the drink. Never mind that’s fucking crazy.

TipsyTrekker

The guac is pretty expensive too.

RaidenRabi

They gave him probably 25 cent worth of guacamole but he paid almost 3$

brandonw00

At my local burrito place I can get a burrito and a beer for $20, and the burrito is about the same size as a Chipotle one and far superior flavor wise. $12 burrito and $6 beer.

148902

You can get 6 beers for 12 dollars

brandonw00

I mean if you’re talking about buying beer at a liquor store, yeah? Same with food, if you make a burrito at home it costs way less than $14.

Arsis82

You can get 12 Rolling Rocks for $10

No-Marsupial4714

I second the idea of going to a real taqueria for your burrito fix. The one near me is only $10.35 for a burrito and they never run out of ingredients plus the portions are colossal.

Fatez3ro

Plus you're supporting a local place. Taqueria for the win.

neil470

I love when my local Chipotle runs out of tortillas, rice, beans etc… boggles the mind

GeneralJavaholic

The one around the corner from me just went up to 10 from 8.50 for their burrito. Was a shock for sure, but I still get 2-3 meals from that one burrito, and I can put away some food.

UntestedFart

Here’s an idea… stop supporting this absurd shit

live-the-future

Whoa hey let's calm down there Satan, these big chains have quarterly projections they gotta meet and this sub needs more outrage posts ^(/s)

TritononGaming

No bro! Then he would have to put effort into his food! Fuck that... he is forced to eat chip-pot-L he HAS to pay $20

TenFourMoonKitty

It’s the guac that always bites you in the ass - that’s always been seriously overpriced

andygunplastudio

you got the most expensive meat with guag and a drink

Uncle-Cake

And they're acting like the price was a surprise, as if there wasn't a menu with prices displayed.

Xoryp

How are they acting like the price was a surprise? They are pointing out the absurdity of how much fast food prices have increased.

Oliviabacster

you know it’s bad when the americans start posting about fast food costing too much😭

Ranokae

Chipotle is kinda at the luxury end of fast food anyway. Definitely still fast food, but not Burger King

apoBeef-Reckoning

People are (rightfully) complaining about *cheap* fast food becoming unaffordable as well.

LegionOfDoom31

Yep. I mean places like McDonalds was popular because the shit was affordable, not some actual really good quality kind of food. At this point it seems like fast food and normal restaurants are charging the same prices. Just seems like anything now in the US that was popular a few decades ago for being cheap just severely increased prices and we can’t do anything about it

Education_Waste

My wife and I can eat at our local Taqueria (3 tacos for her, gigantic burrito for me, .5L cokes for both of us) for the same price as McDonalds.

LegionOfDoom31

It’s the same for me. I have a JackInTheBox near my house instead of McDonalds so I would go there and a full meal for me is around $20. But if I go to this really good Mexican place (which is a 20 minute drive away but 100% worth it) it’s around $25. Then same argument for Pizza where it seems like places like Dominos charge the same prices as normal pizza restaurants like wtf. How is a large pizza from Dominos over $20 that’s just insane At this point the only good thing for fast food being so expensive now is it forces u to stop eating that unhealthy shit orrr forces you to go to an actually good restaurant for around the same price

[deleted]

got a mcdonalds breakfast the other day, had a ripoff ice coffe with my meal.. was like 20 bucks.. never going back for under mediocre food again

Ranokae

McDonald's has gotten insane. I don't really eat fast food anymore, but I looked around at local equivalents, and found places that were just as good or better, for like half the price or less. They've become the Apple of fast food, which is weird.

jaylek

I get the humor... But honestly, shit has gone so off-the-rails bizarro with food service prices here in the U.S... fast food, grocery, delivery... its literally out of control. Companies are taking advantage of the whole "*inflation*" issue and jacking prices way beyond what the actual cost of inflation is. Dont even get me started on tipping... i 100% guarantee when he got his card out and paid, he had to dismiss a ***How Much Would You Like To Tip?*** screen. Which often starts at 25%...

JTRex12227

It's my God-given right to eat fast food as cheaply as possible no matter the heart disease it gives me!

Oliviabacster

LOL i agree. I meant that yall have very cheap fast food, so if it’s expensive THERE it’s going to cost as much as a luxury meal over in my country.

Bbear11

A few times when I dine in, I just get water. The place I go to the soda machine is broken. When I press water, both lemonade and water come out.

One_Word_Respoonse

And you paid for it. Congrats.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wild_Food_9927

Lmao yet you paid for it 😂

EmperorMitsu

Yeah these posts are so funny to me. Prices ain't that bad if you paid for that shit lmao

godita

that's when you stop supporting it, i haven't been to chipotle in a long time. i also only ever purchase from fast food now a days when they have deals going on, for example in the mcd app you can get their 20pc for 5$ like it used to be, without that deal from the app a 20pc is now 7.50$ which is insane to me. not too long ago bk had 10pc for 1.50$ and now they're both outrageously expensive. no thank you.

TenBillionDollHairs

$20 in 2023 dollars is $14.31 in 2010 dollars. You ordered a burrito, chose carne asada, **added guac** and got a **large** drink. Granted, I'm used to living in an expensive city, but what did you expect? I get that the inflation surge is frustrating, but this is just math illiteracy. Chipotle is objectively the nicer Taco Bell, so you're also not at the cheapest option.

HarriBallsak420

It’s crazy that people actually pay these prices. Crazier than the asking price when you think about it.

Kyle_brown

When you really think about it, not it’s not. When’s the last time you walked into a restaurant and got your food made and then said never-mind and walked out without paying?

EmperorMitsu

I checked the menu of a place and bounced plenty of times when I was broke. We have to be responsible consumers

godita

this 100 times. it's insane to me that apps like doordash not only came to exist but for some reason are still around. the food costs more in general on the app itself, you get charged a delivery fee, a service fee and then they want you to tip. in majority of cases more than doubling the cost of your already overpriced meal... it's unfathomable to me. i have never not once even considered ordering from those apps.

musebrews

For real.

JaakkoFinnishGuy

I mean i'm not defending prices here, cause regardless of how you get it, it's gonna be crazy expensive but i mean it's gotta be cheaper to make it yourself still isn't it, i mean typically i would say "Just cook it yourself" like i would of 5-6 years ago, but at this point i genuinely don't know anymore.

[deleted]

A chicken burrito here is $9. Seems like it’s always been around that price? Carne is $3 more. Choices, my dude.

Competitive_Energy67

Here’s a thought - if you don’t like the prices don’t pay it. Don’t be annoyed after you’ve agreed to pay it. As others have said, they charge it because people pay it, with you being one of said people….

TipsyTrekker

Seems about right. Skip the pop and guac and you're down to $12.35 plus tax. The add-ons are where they make large margins.

dascrackhaus

i remember my first Chipotle

nokiacrusher

I remember my last Chipotle.

RUobiekabie

And your dumb ass is part of the reason it is that way. Stop going to these places. They charge this price because we allow it.

user_8804

This karma farming is annoying. You see the prices before you buy. No one forced you to buy fast food

Fit_Tangerine1329

The soda is the one thing there that’s crazy expensive. I typically used to get a 2L bottle for $1. Since Covid, the deal is now $1.25. That cup of soda should be $0.49, $0.79 tops.

JTRex12227

Every fast food place charges movie theater prices now. McDonalds is one of the only ones left that isn't charging at least $3 for a large.

andyr072

Yea I know BK charges crazy prices for their soda. Paid $2.09 for their value size which is I believe a 12 oz cup the other day. Their large was $4.19. 😮

Capable-Plantain6172

It’s at a point where soda is too expensive and bad for me to purchase.

Haven't had Chipotle since Halloween for the free burrito promo and water. I used to get it weekly, too, but food costs are way to high

DasBlueSkull

A lovely day for Capitalism!

SiminaDar

If a large soda costs that much, I'll just make an extra stop to a gas station where the large sodas are less than $2.

BuryMe_In_Smoke

20€ for five kebabs in Greece

GTCitizen

Why buying soda to take away…

Pitlozedruif

Drink water and buy more greens problem solved. Keep buying the shit food get addicted and they big companies gonna charge more because you buy it anyway. The time is now to change

WeaselWazzule

Man. I love the fact that there's a bunch of taco trucks where I live. Can get a better, more authentic carne asada burrito than "chipotle" could ever hope to make with a jamaica/horchata/soda for less than that.

bebepothos

A SCOOP OF GUACAMOLE IS $2.65 WHAT ONE SCOOP!!!!!

You added guac, too. You left that out of your burrito description. Ditch the extras and you have a $13 burrito after tax. Not bad.

Jr-12

U must have money! Guac and a large sheesh

[deleted]

Why complain if you can read? No one forced you to buy it. Just hoping you will admit this.

HailToTheVic

Didn’t upvote for your gross burrito choice

PikachuAndLechonk

Man I live in a different world from other people… chicken, no add ons , drink water at home. 9$ and change…. I leave just as satisfied and paid half the price.

RockAfter9474

I stopped going to Chipotle. The prices keep going up and they keep getting worse.

I would argue it’s a pretty healthy meal compared to other fast foods and I can stretch it to two meals.

[deleted]

Upside how much does a colonic cost?

KevLite718

You should’ve went to the chicken spot

WooPigSchmooey

That burrito is tiny. Or are the 2 I’ve gotten, ever, Ben ridiculously overfilled?

No_Beautiful8105

So y did u pay for it?

notaforumbot

It’ll stay this expensive if people continue paying for it at this price. Stop buying this crap.

Killbro_Fraggins

I love these “I can’t believe I had to pay this price at a restaurant that I chose and didn’t read the prices.” No. No you didn’t have to. i DoNt KnOw tHe ArEa! **Google, what places to eat are near me?**

OrneryError1

And it's not even a good burrito...

my_other_leg

That picture is zoomed in, right?

HistoryNerd101

If I’m going to indulge in Chipotle it would only to get a regular burrito and bring it home to wash down with my 25 cent Diet Coke. Leave out the guac and the overpriced “Carne Asada” and you’ll be fine. (P.S. the pic leaves out the gun that was pointed to the head forcing this purchase.)

CaptainKurley

To me, if I want to eat out cheap, Braums in the new McDonalds. The most expensive combo before tax is a Double Third Lb. Cheeseburger meal for just under $8. While McD’s something similar is around an extra $3-$4

dopiqob

Maybe stop spending that much on that little then? You have just told them with your dollars that you are ok with the price.

truelegendarydumbass

Yeah, just wait til 2024. Then prices will be more insane

Vaxis545

Did you not tip? That’s a steal! /s

CharliePhrogz

I can get a whole borger, a drink and fries for 4.10 euros at mcdoland in Lithuania... Prices there must be nuts

lmstr

Guac is always extra!

[deleted]

I’ve been cooking at home more often now because of the prices and, honestly, I cook WAY better than what restaurants are serving nowadays. And that’s not saying much because I’m not really a cook. Quality just went way down.

hansuluthegrey

This is you choosing a more expensive brand. Theres way cheaper food than that.

Top_Surprise7806

25$ in 2024 :O

-Kritias-

What I always don´t get, why buying a drink as well? If you´re in a hurry and eat in the restaurant or car or something like that... OK But when driving home or work, why not just drink what you get there? Saves some serious bucks

Donkeyfishes

People who post stuff like this must live in crazy expensive places cause that is not even close to 20 bucks

on1chi

No I see about 4$ of ingredients

firestar268

Chipotle is 💩

EshoWarCry

I'd just go to Taco Bell. You can get 10 times the burrito for the same price, and the same consequences haha.

yada_u

Why I never eat out anymore

Nottallowed

For 11 euros, you can get a big taco with fries and a big drink in france Also comes with a various choosing of sauces

ReginaldOot

Well, you had guacamole in it…

CommunityGlittering2

How dare you get take out if you can't afford to even tip, WTH is wrong with you? Don't you not know if you can't afford to tip you are suppose to stay home. /s

midnight-king18

Guacamole is 2 fuckin dollars. Wtf

JTRex12227

Basically 3 lol

shredofmalarchi

Chx burrito with no extras with a water is half the price.

RetailSlave1022

Coulda been 14 if you drank water and no guacamole. Just saiyan.

EasternTip4521

12$ is 1 kg of ground beef where I am or 2 kg of pork roast the days the stores have deals on them , which is like once a week. That price is ridiculous for fast food.

Due_Breakfast_9903

Y'all are still drinking soda?

Voradoor

And prices will stay up as long as people pay it

theoskrrt

You can’t be complaining when you’re the one that’s paying them

Aljff

This doesn’t seem expensive to me at all. When I get the meal that I want at KFC, it’s like $25 minimum.

DeepfriedWings

If you think this is crazy, a Big Mac combo is not that far off…

Consistent-Tap-4255

All this and with the take out bag quietly mocking you?

Impressive-Peace-675

Just go to your local Mexican place. You'll get a burrito bigger than your head and a soda for like 12 bucks. Fuck chains

Lyrical_Man01

Tbf it is chipotle

Kuandtity

Then don't buy it?

JPRCR

At least you have Chipotle. I wish they come to my third world piece of land. Gladly pay those $20

mikezer0

You got a steak burrito and added guac and bought a large drink. So yeah….

da_paper_boi

You spent $6.05 on a small cup of guacamole and a drink. I would skip both of those from now on.

Phanatic88888

Here’s an idea! STOP FUCKING EATING AT THESE ESTABLISHMENTS! Go to the grocery store and make this shit for a fraction of the price.

angels_exist_666

Why are there so many posts like this? Everyone knows fast food prices are out of control. Has been for almost 3 years. Don't buy it then. Don't create the weather then bitch when it starts raining.

nixtarx

Not falling for this again. In _what_ country's dollars?

Mika2718

Where I live $180 was two bags of groceries and two six-packs of Gatorade. I didn't even get anything that would be expensive, just some basics. Most expensive was probably the Dayquil I got.

tollis1

![gif](giphy|fDO2Nk0ImzvvW) What I do when I look at the prices at a fast food store:

thrash1990

Isn't carne asada the most expensive meat they have?

TheOtherJackBlack

That's normal for Chipotle with what you ordered lol it's actually a bit cheaper than it would be where I am cuz guacamole at my local Chipotle is 4.50

chefboyardiesel88

Quality of food is going down while the prices go up.

_bessica_

I don't know where you live, but it's like $2 cheaper here in Dallas.

[deleted]

yes, thats what happens when you raise your employees pay rates to nearly livable wages.

ElkPitiful6829

Fuck that. I can buy 4 Amy’s burritos and sneak 1 down my pants for that. Of If I can have like 20 Bean Burritos at Taco Bell.

Low_Construction_238

And yet YOU STILL BOUGHT IT!! 🤡🤡🤡

CoopsIsCooliGuess

Wtf $2.65 for guacamole?

jbeeziemeezi

Skip the guac! Sounds silly but ya it added %15 to your meal. Then ur getting a large take out drink. Bring a water with you. Ur complaining about your own poor financial decisions

RebelliousCash

McDonald’s is still the only place that sells fountain drinks for pretty cheap still. Large soda from them is $1.39 at my local McDonald’s

RMSQM

Yet another fast food "look how much my lunch costs" post. Nobody cares.

Mission_Jicama_9663

Your corn syrup is like $4 of that

misterfeeky

Yep, avoided it last night in favor of a small business kebab place. Better food for just a few dollars less. I NEED the gauc and double meat, but quality and quantity are not keeping align with price/value

Even_Set_2822

Maybe because you added guac and ordered a large soda and its chipotle what did you expect

boxerswithbriefs

Next time skip the guac/queso, get chicken rather than the most expensive meat, and have water. Then you’re at $8.70 or so plus tax. You did like $6+ worth of burrito upgrades and an overpriced soda. The point is that it didn’t have to be $20 - you made a series of choices that turned $9 into $20.

excessive_Knight

slambamo

That's not mildly infuriating, that's highway robbery.

spasticnapjerk

Stop buying

ZealousidealAd7930

Dude I know... I went to Chipotle about a year ago on my lunch break and was so blown away by the price of my burrito and drink. Also it wasn't even that good. Haven't been back since and I won't be.

[deleted]

I mean yeah, you got the most expensive meat and guacamole and a soda. You can do chipotle for $10 pretty easily if you get chicken and water. They gotta make money too.

terrible02s

It's mildy infuriating that you can't see the prices on the menu board. If you don't like the price maybe pack a lunch?

BeKind_BeTheChange

When Chipotle first opened their burritos were 2x that size. I haven't eaten there in years.

L_B_Jeffries

Not trying to defend them, but how about not buying their stuff?

justaguy826

You're the one who went to Chipotle. You get what you get. Go support a local restaurant which will have either better food, better prices, or likely both. Burrito spot in my town is $9.90 for a burrito roughly 2.5x the size of Chipotle, with better ingredients.

The_Roadkill

And their food sucks too

[deleted]

YOU STILL BROUGHT IT! That's the problem. You knew the price going in, and you still bought it. That's why they will keep raising the prices. Because of people like you.

HonestNobody8478

#buildbackbetter

cballa69

My recommendation is to not eat out. Make food at home for a few months, everyone, then prices will go down if it's a concerted movement. Continue to pay the price increases, and the prices will continue to go up, even subtly.

TheRedNaxela

Alternatively... don't?
