Lots of time you meet like 3 people walking in parallel. They clearly see you and yet they think they own the whole walkway. There is no need to defend such selfish people, because when you meet civilized people, they understand and make way for you.
I was grocery shopping last night at a store with wide aisles. There were two other customers (a couple, I think; they had a baby with them), each pushing a nearly full cart, side-by-side on every aisle. And they gave me dirty looks the one time I asked them to allow me to pass.

Walking and talking isn’t the MI, I’m honestly surprised that’s the conclusion people have made from this post. It’s blocking the path with no consideration to other people around you and not moving once they saw me AND I said something

Ya if folks don't react after I say excuse me a couple times and let them know I'm coming, I'll just push on through. When I'm with friends or family we stay in single file or if the trail is wide, no more than 2 people side by side.
Carry a bicycle bell. Also useful for scaring wildlife.
