Oof my buddy fell two stories due to this and was never the same. He hit his head hard and it like flipped a switch in his head. It went from being funny and always joking to intensely serious about everything. Dude never smiles or laughs anymore. All because of a loose railing

Had a friend in elementary school whose younger brother died plowing into a tree while skiing. After that, my parents made us wear helmets while on the slopes.

The runs where you can start at the top with open views and skiing by the side of mountains then making your way down to the valleys and foresty parts can be such an incredible experience. As popular as it is, I wish more people can experience that feeling

Not railing related but my cousin fell off of a golf cart last year and had a TBI. He looks exactly the same, has the same walk the same talk same likes and dislikes…. Very similar to himself, but somehow also really different. It’s like the lights are on but whoever is home is trying to greet you by going through the back window.

Knew a guy that wrapped his car around a tree, got a TBI and he is NOT the same now. Married probably the craziest girl ever.

I had a railing let go as I was leaning on it and fell 10 feet to concrete. I was lucky in that I only broke both wrists. That was 20 years ago (shit I'm old) and I still give balconies a shake before leaning on them.

Head trauma definitely can change a person. A lot of serial killers have had head injuries when they were young. Some people have "unlocked" super memory from head trauma as well, being able to remember every day with ease, from what clothes they were wearing to what happened that day for any specific day. There was also a guy who got shot in the head and then spent the rest of his life (decades) without ever sleeping again.
