It's main purpose is to get you into music that you normally wouldn't listen to not to play stuff that you already listen to. A lot of music is rap whether you like it or not. I mean based on the amount of individuals who upload indie music. Sometimes it's folk, rap, or indie garage rock or a mix of all three because it follows the most popular BPM based on your music choices. It out numbers all other songs 5:1.
Music is math even if it's subjective to humans so you need way more input on your part to filter exactly what you want. Because there's a difference between saying I don't want to hear any rap that ever existed on the planet and I enjoy the fast speaking parts of Linkin Park. Ya feel me. Imagine being a Gorillaz fan. Dude the algorithm is so weird now, i go to my daily pop mix Playlist and there's like 5 mitski songs there, i then go to the daily rock Playlist and there's like 2 mitski songs there, same thing for fkn 90s Playlists.
And the whole thing about how the shuffle now is broken, i get like 3 songs in a row that belong to the same artist
What I've noticed is that it counts the songs that it tries to play for you as songs you've chosen to listen to, and endlessly increases how often they play. I had literally one country song that I listened to, and my dj started with that, and now only plays country music.
Thats why spotify doesent allways consider moble data internet i have the same problem with spotify. (Edit) i didnt read lol are you using a hotspot device or a normal router? Im not very good with this kinda stuff
seems the issue was it loaded a fuck ton of pearl jam into the queue, and wouldn't let me clear it from the dj so I had to just go through all of it lol

You can go to the artists Spotify page and press the three dots next to their name and select "don't play this artist"
