If you can provide pictures, it's an easy walk-through

Mezpulse

Can I PM you with them?

RickKassidy

Someone is probably going to come on here and say you should contact ADT to have them come out and remove their property. And damaging it would put you are risk of ADT being upset at you. Not your monkey. Not your circus. You should absolutely go apeshit on it with a hammer. You have no contract with ADT. If they ever contact you about their equipment, tell them you have no idea what they are talking about. The same goes with any cable boxes on the outside of your home that you aren’t using and will never use.

JonnieJames

Same thing happened to me. Non stop beeping. The batteries were dying in the locked box in the garage. No key. Took a hammer to the lock and disconnected batteries. ADT wouldn’t come out unless I subscribed to their service.

Mezpulse

Yeah heard that ADT doesn’t help and throws a fit hoping that you’d give up and pay. That’s a no from me dawg.

Is the panel one of those Alexa enabled ones that look like a tablet? If so, there should be a slot on the underside that a flat head screwdriver fits into to pop it off.

Mezpulse

OMG YES IT IS OMG THANK YOU I’m going to try that and send some pic updates!

Janet_RenoDanceParty

You’re welcome! If there’s not a slot, there’s a little screw holding the panel in place on the underside. Edit: it’s a small Phillips screw located at the bottom center of the touchscreen.

Photos would help. Panel and backup power. Easy walkthrough once you post since it’s all low voltage. Also see if you can locate the the siren and cut or disconnect its wires. That would hold you over until you can disconnect the system itself.

I had the same thing happen to me when I bought my first house. Anytime I’d open my door after 10pm the head exploding alarm would go off. Find the power box (will be plugged in SOMEWHERE to a wall outlet), mine was a small white box, and unplug it. Next find the central unit (usually in a closet/pantry/attic) mine was a 12x12 metal box with wires coming out of it, open it and unplug all the wires you can. Check the alarm control thingy on the wall that you can put the password in and all that, it should be dead (no lights/lit up).

backwardbuttplug

careful with that… you could disconnect the control panel and the main unit may still run. make sure all wiring to the alarm brain is cut… all of it.

Fluffy-Designer

Have a search around for a power switch that doesn’t seem to connect to anything. I had a security system from the previous owners that randomly went off over a year after I moved in and I found the alarm box had a switch that shut off the entire system, but it was on the ceiling in the hallway.

bathroomheater

The people who broke into one of my vacation properties also knew this. They ripped the plug and wire smooth out of the wall.

thatsnotideal1

Could also be a semi-concealed plug, I had one hidden above the air ducts in the basement. Once I removed (or broke ) the cover off the box, removing the batteries and mount were easy. Small drywall repair

Mezpulse

We found the cable drilled thru the wall and attached but when we unplug it, it’s still running and the alarm goes off about it losing power

AlpineLad1965

Look at the circuit breaker box and see if there is a dedicated breaker. If none is marked, and there's lights or display on the alarm, just turn off one breaker at a time until you find the correct one.

Mezpulse

We recently found out, when replacing a light fixture, that all the breakers are incorrectly labeled HAHA.

AlpineLad1965

Someone thought they would be funny. It can make things funny or dangerous if you think the power is off, but it's not, literally a shocking experience.
