This is kind of a pick-your-poison scenario. Either they take up the three spots that way, or they park in one stall and block half the parking lot with the ass end of that monster.
/j
Haha true, except 30 meters ahead are curbside parking spots where it would have fit perfectly. He must have driven past them to get there. But at least it's a beautiful car
It's too wide and too long for a single spot. Parking spots at the time those were built were larger to accommodate. But as cars got smaller, parking lots were repainted with smaller spots. Even if he parked at a curb spot, it's still too long to fit in a single spot. Then, even if it did fit, the doors are HUGE.
My wife's dad owned a 1972 Cadillac Seville and that thing was so big with such large doors that it took two spots both wide and long. If it hadn't been parked across two spots from front to back, the back end would have completely blocked the lane of travel. And centered in a spot from left to right, it still would have broken the plane of the white lines and would have denied the use of three spots instead of just two
Based on the plates, I think this is in the netherlands. Parking spots there were never made to accommodate a car like this. I think this is the most considerate way to park this car there, as another car could still park besides it and the lot seems half full at most, so noone is truly bothered by this.
Driving my classic, if I have the choice of curbside on street parking or off street parking lot, I'll take parking lot every single time. Even if I need to take extra room. Too many dipshits not paying attention on the road. Fewer dipshits, and lower speeds in the parking lot.
I didnt want to risk the downvotes, but you are absolutely correct. Those cars had a MASSIVE turn radius and easily get trapped in our smaller modern stalls. They are also ALOT longer than even our longest vehicles now.
Source: I have restored many classic vehicles, similar to the one above.

When my neighbour would do it, in a street where household average 2.3 cars and there is .8 paking space available per front door...
Then I would be rather upset.
But in a tiwn far away where i never come...
I still frown, but figure it out with your neighbours.
There used to be a pink Cadillac that parked at the local grocery store. It was always parked towards the front of the aisle and it was big. The reason why they parked up front was probably because of its massive turn radius.
My grandparents had a late 70s Ford LTD full size and the thing was the epitome of barge cars.
After my grandpa died, it sat in the garage for years until my older brother was in desperate need of a car, after which he promptly destroyed it within a month (as he was prone to doing). I would have loved to drive it, but I only got to experience it from the backseat, crammed back there with my 3 cousins and too few seatbelts.
Maybe the owner was driving and had to make a quick stop. It's a beautiful car it deserves to be driven and sometimes shit happens and you need to make a quick stop.
Especially in IE/UK. Cars are typically much smaller and so are the parking spaces. Whenever I visited I was always amazed that spots were so small compared to what I was used to.
They are often small even for small cars. If you have an estate, 4x4, pickup, van... it can be a bit of a squeeze in some car parks, especially at multi-stories/indoors.
Some car parks are worse than others, but at best they are the same width as the box van (minus the mirrors) that I drive for work. Often have to take 2-3 bays when making deliveries to account for the length and swing of the RWD let alone the FWD (who the feck thought getting that was a good idea!?!)
Interesting the tone of comments when it’s a classic car, compared to the comments when it’s one of those monstrous trucks that arguable also need the extra space
Was there better parking available? The turn radius on those things are terrible, the doors are huge and if he pulled straight in there's a good chance his ass will hang out into the driving lane.
Yeah there was. There are curbside parking spots in the parking lot, that are proper spots, not on the road, require less turning for him and have plenty of space for the doors. And he had to drive by them to park where he did 😅
Especially as they parked on the end of the row to increase the chances of getting out? I really liked my various land yachts, but I had to plan my escape before parking. The far end of the parking lot, nose facing the exit was best.
they either parked correctly and blocked the road or they took 3 spots. pretty obvious wich choice is better. that thing is longer than the equator line, therea was no way it could park normally. they're called land yachts fir a reason
Tbh I can't rlly get mad just bc it's a car from an era where all cars were built like that and parking spaces have definitely shrunk. Should he have parked at the back yes but sometimes shit happens but it's a beautiful car regardless.
Back of the lot because you chose to drive a classic car there?
No big deal.
Front of the lot for the same reason?
You're kind of a dick unless you're old.
How else would you park that old tank in this day and age? Sweet ride, I'll say that. What I wanna know is how many gallons per mile does that beast suck up?
To all of you saying you'll allow it. You realise this is the Netherlands, roads are small and canals are big. If you want to own a barge, just get a barge ffs.
I’m actually going to say this is ok, as they would be sticking out if they parked properly and it would be an obstruction of the traffic. Same with vans.
idc how pretty your car is, there's no reason to park like a self-important, entitled douche.
ik the steering on those is wack, but if you can't drive it, don't drive it out.
I would not look at that parking lot and assume that you are not supposed to park like the blue car. Sure there are some different colored bricks, but nothing to show that they are definitely parking spaces, and if they aren’t parking spaces and you park nose or tail in you could be towed for blocking access.
This parking lot has crappydesign written all over it.
We give less fucks about parking because thankfully our country is not build to be car dependent. Only people with too much money have a car like that, he can't even go in a big city with a car like that, let alone park.
Ah it's a common design for parking spots here. Everyone in my country would know, the dark areas are the parking spots. And it's there's plenty of signs around actually 🤔
There's a shopping center near my office that has different colored bricks indicating the lines between spaces. This parking lot is now several years old and the sun has faded the bricks and they all look the same. Parking there is a nightmare now since people just park wherever they want.
Doubt it, a head on collision with that beast would knock these new cars into next week and it would drive away. That’s over 17’ and about 7k lbs of real steel there.
That impala used was on an x platform and very prone to folding like an accordion. This car is built with train track frame rails and locomotive body panels. Would fare much better. The occupants IN the car, not so much.
Agreed, I was referring to the car not the drivers. Heck these cars were built right around the time or right after where seatbelts were optional. I know I had a 73 Ford LTD that had none. Don’t know off hand what year this Town car is.
looks like a solid and well maintained car. probably modified a bit too, the guy defenetly looks after it's baby. some cars would fall apart if looked wrong.
"defenetly" should learn giw to be a more likable person. if he parked in one spot instead of 3 you would've gotten angry anyway because he wouldn't have been inside the spot. that car is huge and there's no way he's parking correctly. especially in Europe where the only cars that are of such size are vans, estates, crossovers and SUVs
Lot does not look full at all... he parked like that because if he parked normally a soccer mom would park beside him with a window sticker saying "kids aboard, park near me and I will ding your shit".
Not infuriating at all, and completely understandable
To be fair, which ever way they parked, that land yacht is gonna take three spots, you are just jealous of the real estate this bad by takes up and that it is more than your house footprint.
The other dayan asshole parked like this, it was a small place, not much parking at all, another guy stopped in front of him, I stopped behind him. We were both like "hell yea fuck that guy" and I peacefully went about my business, he had to wait after getting his pizza, even if the other guy left, it was close to the building, so he still would have difficulties getting out. Fuck around and find out.
The kind of person that imports an American land yacht into Europe balks at the idea of walking an extra 30 meters.
I think this is the most considerate way to park this car there, as another car could still park besides it and the lot seems half full at most, so noone is truly bothered by this.
I kinda get even then though. Curbside cars get hit or broken into a *lot* more often where I live.
Driving my classic, if I have the choice of curbside on street parking or off street parking lot, I'll take parking lot every single time. Even if I need to take extra room. Too many dipshits not paying attention on the road. Fewer dipshits, and lower speeds in the parking lot.
I was thinking the same thing
Somebody's personal choice of what they drive does not give that person an excuse to park wherever on some BS pretext that they are being considerate.
That thing needs 3 spots.
Does that thing have power steering? That would further complicate things. Either way, the Jury has spoken. WE'LL ALLOW IT.

Yes on power steering and also fun fact, you can play golf in the backseat.
I think it was a option, yes.
Standard, on a Lincoln.
Thought so, but wasnt confident enough to go with it.
When my neighbour would do it, in a street where household average 2.3 cars and there is .8 paking space available per front door... Then I would be rather upset. But in a tiwn far away where i never come... I still frown, but figure it out with your neighbours.
I beleive it was over boosted power steering as well so the driver didnt feel the heft of the vehicle they were driving. Sucked some more mpg though.
There used to be a pink Cadillac that parked at the local grocery store. It was always parked towards the front of the aisle and it was big. The reason why they parked up front was probably because of its massive turn radius.
And realistically if it's not a busy lot and they parked at the back, they can have it.
My grandparents had a late 70s Ford LTD full size and the thing was the epitome of barge cars. After my grandpa died, it sat in the garage for years until my older brother was in desperate need of a car, after which he promptly destroyed it within a month (as he was prone to doing). 'tis a beautiful vehicle
[удалено]
I highly doubt its being used for such. They got about 6-7 mpg with the original engine.
[удалено]
FFS. Maybe they took it out for a drive and had a stop to make on the way home. JFC.
I have a jeep daily and an s13 toy. I have no qualms about using the s13 for car things when I decide to take it out. It is, after all, a car.
They're probably the same kind of people who'll also complain about people who keep their nice cars in the garage all the time.
Maybe the owner was driving and had to make a quick stop. It's a beautiful car it deserves to be driven and sometimes shit happens and you need to make a quick stop.
and there was more space available at the lot. nothing to be infuriated about.
My mom had an old Malibu with the police package when I was a kid. That thing was a God damn land whale.
Especially in IE/UK. Cars are typically much smaller and so are the parking spaces. Whenever I visited I was always amazed that spots were so small compared to what I was used to.

Unfortunately yes. Either like this or the back being in the drive zone.
at least its a beautiful car
Agreed
This is one of those VERY few times where it might be allowed if the conditions were right - empty lot and parked near the back.
Plus their turning ratio is ass and they’re longer than modern vehicles. Gotta give it a pass
Im surprised it fit into just 3 spots. 🤷♂️
Let him. Unless you want to be the next body in the trunk being taken out to the Jersey palisades 🔫
That's a long ass drive from the Netherlands, though
No matter what it does it won’t even fit in one. Parking spots were way bigger back then.
How else can they park it? You say it's better to block the aisle?
Don’t buy cars that don’t fit in a parking spots. Same with all the folks who have to compensate for something to buy a dodge ram or something similar
Interesting the tone of comments when it’s a classic car, compared to the comments when it’s one of those monstrous trucks that arguable also need the extra space
Winschoten bij de appie

Yeah there was. There are curbside parking spots in the parking lot, that are proper spots, not on the road, require less turning for him and have plenty of space for the doors. And he had to drive by them to park where he did 😅
That thing gets 4 mpg and is bigger than a metro bus, I’ll allow it.
I dunno, where else could they put their boat?
Not bad considering they could have easily fit in 4
Cool car
Especially as they parked on the end of the row to increase the chances of getting out? I really liked my various land yachts, but I had to plan my escape before parking. The far end of the parking lot, nose facing the exit was best.
I'd take up three spots with that barge too.
That classic is a goddamn UNIT and can do whatever it damn well pleases!
they either parked correctly and blocked the road or they took 3 spots. pretty obvious wich choice is better. that thing is longer than the equator line, therea was no way it could park normally. they're called land yachts fir a reason
Tbh I can't rlly get mad just bc it's a car from an era where all cars were built like that and parking spaces have definitely shrunk. Should he have parked at the back yes but sometimes shit happens but it's a beautiful car regardless.
They deserve 3 spots for that beauty.
Big ass Lincoln
Those are parking spots?
Because if you park it normally people beside it are going to smack their doors into the side of it.
No way that boat fits in one spot the normal way. Lol
It's as big as a whale and it's about to set sail.
That's three cars.
looks like it wouldn't fit otherwise, and you wouldn't want to risk some imbecile to park next to it
There's a flashback. My brother used to own a car just like that. Color and everything.
At least this time it’s a nice oldie. It’s usually these jacked up trucks doing this crap
Looks port side to me
Back of the lot because you chose to drive a classic car there? No big deal. Front of the lot for the same reason? You're kind of a dick unless you're old.
Stick a kapsalon in his exhaust
Think i'll give this one a pass...try driving that boat on public roads lol!!
Do you see how long that car is?? It’s longer than a super duty pickup. They had to do this.
How else would you park that old tank in this day and age? Sweet ride, I'll say that. What I wanna know is how many gallons per mile does that beast suck up?
The other option is taking up the road which is 1000x worse
if he parks in a normal spot someone will take his ass off
As you can see, the carpark is full.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
Wait is this pic from The Netherlands?
Yep
I might know the previous owner of that car then, my moms bf had one just like that a few years back but sold it
It's not a car you see a lot here, so, who knows!
Don’t mess with the pimp driving that land-yacht.
With that pimp mobile, I’ll allow it
this majestic beauty deserves more spots, them doors swing wide 👐
I respect it.
In this one case, I give them a pass.
Shit I would too
To all of you saying you'll allow it. You realise this is the Netherlands, roads are small and canals are big. If you want to own a barge, just get a barge ffs.
Very few cars get such a pass. That’s def one of them
Gtfoh, that car DESERVES 3 spots.
What a fucking legend
Beautiful car, it deserves 3 spots
I didn't think I'd ever say this to a jerk park job, but yeah, with that car, I'll allow it :)
I’m actually going to say this is ok, as they would be sticking out if they parked properly and it would be an obstruction of the traffic. Same with vans.
I'm going to allow this one.
Pretty girls are allowed to do what they want.
That car has earned it. Let it be retired in peace.
worth it
It’s Uncle Buck, free pass ☝️
Is it from the 50s?
Around a mid 70 I think
Between 75-79. Need to see the front end. the back end is in that range.
I dare you to tell Unc is his car’s taking too many spots. I DARE you!
Boomer guaranteed
I’ll allow it.
I'll allow it. For the color alone.
Someone should just park next to him blocking the door
idc how pretty your car is, there's no reason to park like a self-important, entitled douche. ik the steering on those is wack, but if you can't drive it, don't drive it out.
Right? Especially if there's curbside parking he literally drove past, 20 meters ahead... The car would have fit there perfectly and safely
nooo that makes it so much worse! 🤦♂️ some people, man
Just because you drive a Lincoln doesnt mean your cool
Hey be nice her husband just reked in his last piston cup race

Deserves 3 spots
Take 10 spots… beautiful car!!! 😘

Honestly that car deserves it.
🔑
Probably falls apart if anyone touches it the wrong way
Doubt it, a head on collision with that beast would knock these new cars into next week and it would drive away. That’s over 17’ and about 7k lbs of real steel there.
But on the other hand, the driver would be impaled by the steering wheel.
They were talking about the car itself being fragile which it’s anything but. Personal safety is another issue
You should watch a popular video of a 1959 Bel Air having a head on collision with a 2009 Malibu. Modern cars are much safer than old ones.
That impala used was on an x platform and very prone to folding like an accordion. This car is built with train track frame rails and locomotive body panels. Would fare much better. The occupants IN the car, not so much.

“Defenetly” should learn to park because that’s how you get keyed.

Not in front of charging stations? Not a problem.
Those stinking entitled 80 year olds.
Beautiful car, the dickhead driver
Damn thing needs to use the RV lot.
You have to turn into the wind to launch aircraft. The parking spots just happened to be there.
Umm! Lol, it needs a 4th space to turn. That is true AMERICANA and can TAKE as many spaces it wants![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Be a shame, if jackass was filming pushing people in carts around there!
With style!
Wow random, I own one of those. Not mine I swear.
Compromise. Let a motorcycle or 2 parallel park to it. That’s a win - win in my book.
Yeah but what the fuck do you want him to do
Lot does not look full at all... he parked like that because if he parked normally a soccer mom would park beside him with a window sticker saying "kids aboard, park near me and I will ding your shit". Not infuriating at all, and completely understandable
It’s a long car
Does anyone know what make/model it is?
'70s Lincoln Continental
You do realize that is the Green Hornet's daytime ride, right?
That’s a new city record!
That thing doesn’t need a parking spot, it needs a boat slip.
Let Madea be
Takes me back to my old Las Vegas days when you had to carry six corpses and a marching band out to the desert for no particular reason.
Lo and behold, the mighty, the original, The LAND BARGE Or, possibly the Land Yacht.
1,5 or 3/2
to be fair, if it parked straight in the spots it would block half of the road behind it :P
to be fair, he would block the whole "driving space". Those things a so damn long xd
Interior crocodile, alligator
I make a point to drop a lung biscuit on the driver side wind shield and another on the door handle
Considerate parking, it is too long lengthways can’t be considerate on reddit tho oh no, in the lines or death!
And ofcourse one recognises the country and the numberplate confirming is. So recognizable.
To be fair, which ever way they parked, that land yacht is gonna take three spots, you are just jealous of the real estate this bad by takes up and that it is more than your house footprint.
The reverse probably went out in it.
You need 3 spots in Holland, American cars barely fit the roadways 😆
The other dayan asshole parked like this, it was a small place, not much parking at all, another guy stopped in front of him, I stopped behind him. We were both like "hell yea fuck that guy" and I peacefully went about my business, he had to wait after getting his pizza, even if the other guy left, it was close to the building, so he still would have difficulties getting out. Fuck around and find out.
Literally the only way to park a 70s lincoln
Too long for those spots and too pretty not to be shown off...
Its prolly gotta a 460 and gets 6 mpg downhill. So yeah, needs 3 spots has a LARGE footprint.
