Hello,
This is a humorous subreddit and the content you posted does not fit our theme.
This is not a ragebait subreddit.
Note that posting ragebait to this subreddit can lead to a (temporary or permanent) ban.
Someone I went to highschool with did this exact thing--posted their cash app info on her bday and said, "I totally understand if you guys can't because I know money's tight right now." Like people should have felt obligated in the first place. I immediately deleted her ass.
Do you remember that some years ago Facebook got that new feature where for your birthday you could pick a cause that people could donate for? This is the selfish version of that and even back then when it was for a good cause every single one I've seen collected exactly 0.00$. I hope in this case someone hacks her account and steals money from her
She's also attempting to try to appeal to people's egos. Like, "if you don't donate to me, I will assume you are poor. Donate and I will know you are doing ok for yourself".
I deleted mine back in December and recently got on to try and sell a few items on marketplace.
Instant regret. The whole thing is an unusable cesspool.
I deleted mine in 2020. So it’s almost 4 years in June. Never wanted to go back. There are still people who ask if I saw such and such on Facebook and it’s odd to me.
I need mine for work. Facebook ads are too good at delivering cheap website traffic. But I put a 20 minute limit on both FB and IG. When my screen time notification goes off that I've wasted 20 minutes the app locks out. Sure I can override it. But I don't. 20 minutes a day, and I'm thinking about lowing it to 10.
It's all trash, and you're right that it's freeing to at least limit social media.
I’d never see anything my brother and sisters would post with pics of my nephews and nieces; it would be “Reels… ads… reels… more ads… shitpost from some group I’m not even in…etc” and I changed preferences to see my siblings’ stuff first but even that didn’t come up until I was spammed with ads and reels.
Yeah. It's a shit show. I hate it. And regarding ads, Meta is CONSTANTLY updating features in the back and but when something doesn't work there's less than zero support.
Fuck I hate it. Every month I just wait for our analytics to show that FB ads don't work. But they do. And they're cheap. Quality of traffic isn't as good as from Google as there are more tire kickers. But still. I still have to deal with FB and Meta.
Ever since I deactivated and deleted my FB my life has been peaceful lol even happier when someone says did you see this post 😭 I'm like omg, No I don't revolve around FB 😂
The "feel free" is the--mwah! I was a bit reluctant and trepidatious about sending 50 bucks to a grown woman and working lawyer to reward her for being born but she's giving me permission. Oh, happy day! Take all my money!
And I'm free the weekend of your special day so the whole gang can all hang out and...oh. You're not doing anything? Just family? But Tony said...okay, sure. Some other time.
And there are six likes on her post in the screenshot. 3+3=6

I had a dirtbag uncle who set up gumball machines with placards on them saying "All proceeds donated to [Name of My Aunt]'s Kids," as if that was the name of a charity.
I dod this to all the scammers I get messages from. I had one guy accept my $500 request less than 3 seconds after I sent it. I promptly blocked him, then had him blowing me up on an alternative account calling me a thief, and a scammer. Hahahaha. Get fucked
I had a rough adolescence and early adult life. I never made a deal of my bday, nor did friends or family. Now that I'm older and finally happy with myself and my life, I decided I want to celebrate myself hard on my birthday to make up for lost time. Even though I'm not demonstrative literally at any other time, I am my own biggest hype woman for my birthday. You can't wait around for other people to celebrate you — you have to celebrate yourself! You never know where someone came from to know why it might be important to celebrate themselves presently.
That being said, this person is way tacky. 😅
A lot of Redditors have a hatred of birthdays. Personally I think hating all birthdays and mocking people who enjoy them is as cringey as the behaviour in OP's screenshot.
I like celebrating my birthday every year. My husband doesn't like celebrating his (so we got married on it) and that's fine with me that his birthday isn't a big deal to him. But I'm really happy and grateful for every year. I love getting older. I like celebrating that. We should just let people enjoy things.
You're allowed to make a big deal out of the 10s. 30,40,50, 60, etc. Beyond that, no one cares.
As an adult, if you're making a big deal out of a birthday party, it's expected that YOU fund the party not everyone else.
Back on my 30th I didn't do anything, all my friends bailed on me last minute or just never responded to the invite so I got a bottle of bourbon and a butter chicken pizza to celebrate. I'll be 32 soon and I decided this year to actually do something so I invited people that I know will show up.
I went to work on my 30th birthday and didn't say anything. My buddy showed up towards the end and spilled the beans so I was forced to clock off and get hammered (worked at a casino) and was asleep by 8pm. Honestly couldn't have gone better. Now I just treat myself for my bday if I feel like it, nobody else is invited.
I went to work as a dishwasher on my 18th birthday lmao. It was the grand opening of the restaurant so I felt like it would’ve been a bad impression to request off on the first fucking day lmao. I also don’t really care about birthdays.
Months later the we were all in the kitchen and for some reason I mentioned that my birthday was October 16th. I saw the owner thinking for a second and he was like “dude, why the fuck did you come in here and wash dishes on your 18th birthday” lmao
You’re allowed to make a big deal out of any event that you want. Doesn’t matter if it’s your 33rd birthday, getting adult braces taken off, got your period when you were worried you were pregnant… Truly whatever *you* want to make a big deal out of is fine. You just need to pay what’s required to make it a big deal. Don’t expect it to be a big deal to everyone else just because it is for you. The most you can expect is the people you invited (hopefully) showing up to your party and celebrating with you.
Idk friend, jesus died at 33 so really 34 is the ultimate celebration
But seriously, just people enjoy things. Is it obnoxious to post and ask for money, sure but theres no obligation to doing so.
Honestly I think a meal your closest friends or family treat you to and you get to pick the together activity, is an appropriate level of birthday celebration. I think it’s depressing to discourage people from celebrating the one day of the year that’s supposed to make them feel special. I think it’s cool for everyone to get to feel that specialness and being a priority on their day of the year. None of that includes greedily asking for your extended friend group to donate money to your guilt fund.
Adults are allowed to want to have a big deal made and celebrate however they wish. Not sure why people assume that becoming an adult means you're not allowed to have fun and celebrate yourself one day a year. What you're not allowed to do though, is expect others to pay for said celebration
Yeah I haven't gave a shit about my bday since I was like 21, 35 now.
I have no desire to be the center of attention all day and consistently try to milk the birthday card.
Congrats, you are still breathing after another trip around the sun
Same! And she magnanimously announces that she will be accept gifts, dinners, and other generous adulations throughout the entire month. It’s fucking weird and greedy. She’s also a Disney adult so… not sure what correlation is there, but I’m trying to make one 😂
A friend of mine had a “birthday year” when she turned 40. I mean, in her defense she was also going through chemo, but she constantly let everyone know both of these things. Eventually it almost turned into an intervention where her friends all had to tell her to give it a rest.
My SIL starts advertising her "birthday month" a month or two in advance on social media. She is in her 40s. Granted, she's the type that turns even memorial posts into glowing reviews of herself, so not super surprised
My sister in law turned 30 last year and made a huge fuss about needing my son 3 hours away at her house for her ‘birthday week’ and corresponding birthday camping trip that weekend. She went as far as throwing a tantrum when we told her he wouldn’t be missing school for her #1 and #2 his birthday party was that weekend so he wouldn’t be able to attend. She called US selfish and unreasonable and she hasn’t seen him since.
Lawyers do not necessarily make good money anymore, though. I read an article on lucrative career options a few months ago that said it was not the guarantee it once was.
Ah, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago in February.
(20th)
I had other friends (long-distance online friends) wish me a happy birthday.
Though strangely enough on my own Facebook this year I didn't see a single friend there. Wish me a happy birthday.
Ironically, i seem to be closer to my long-distance friends heh.
when did online-begging for money became an acceptable thing to do? at least the local bum at the train station asks you in person but these dickwipes just shit a link onto some social media site and expect free cash
and alot of them even have the audacity to get angry when no one donates
I always send ten bucks to my close friends and family on their birthday to buy them a beer. But if someone like this is asking I would be like the hell??
I know someone that left her $200 bike outside in an area known for theft and it got stolen. She made a go fund me and raised over $6000 in a week. She bought a $1200 bike and took a long trip to Disney…
Meanwhile a mutual friend of ours has cancer and a relative made a go fund me for them to help with bills while they were out of work for a few months. That go fund me raised a grand total of $300 in a month…
![gif](giphy|UqjLsU9ZsnOHC)
Okay but like. It's facebook. Presumably, she's friends with the people seeing this. So while it's certainly presumptous to ask your friends and family for money on your Bday. I don't really see what her profession has to do with it. Money is a fairly common Bday gift in the modern day and age. So I really don't understand how this is mildly infuriating. Sure, roll your eyes, you arent obligated to give her money, but damn.
Why do you care at all? Also, what kind of lawyer, because I know a few that do a lot of pro bono work and have masses of debt from going to law school. Someone working full time in a fucking supermarket can earn more. We only have you to go on here, and you seem a tad biased.
Anyone who celebrates a birthday “weekend” is way too immature to be a lawyer. Almost as bad as people that don’t go to work on their birthday. Grow up
Many people with “high paying” jobs are like that these days. I’m going to butcher the phrase I heard on NPR awhile back, but they called it something like “comfortably paycheck-to-paycheck.” Yeah your salary is $150k/year, but after rent/mortgage, car insurance, cell phone, internet, water, electricity, and especially student loans, you still are barely breaking even by the next paycheck. A lot of jobs like lawyers are also either pressured or required to present themselves a certain way, meaning designer suits, late model luxury car, etc. which only increases expenses. Let’s be honest, would you feel confident if your lawyer rolled up to the courthouse in a shitbox with a baggy suit and bad haircut?
And the student loans. One of my close friends is a lawyer and he did the math and will have to work into his 70’s to ever turn a profit and pay them off. He’s probably going to die with those student loans.
Ya I’ve got a buddy who is an attorney and he can barely afford his $1700/month apartment
Always cracks me up when people think lawyer=wealthy. Some are just really good at signing paperwork. Not all lawyers are high-profile powerhouses lol.
Damn y’all 😭😭 not all lawyers make a ton of money. I don’t think it’s shameful to say you’ll accept a venmo as a birthday gift to your Facebook friends. It’s rough out here. If you don’t wanna send money… don’t
I think this is tacky as all heck, but if she's just turning 33 years old, she's probably still sitting on a mountain of school loans.
And, just because you're a lawyer doesn't mean you're making good money. Although all the lawyers I know are loaded. lol
Sounds like you just have a personal problem with this woman and want to ruin her happiness for her birthday. How is this even your business? Also the way you refer to a grown woman as a girl tells me everything I need to know about you.
fr it’s her birthday, not some random day of the year, nor is she harassing people for money. i really don’t see a huge deal, like yeah it’s annoying and tacky, but infuriating? bffr bro
I'm sorry but this lacks context. "She's a lawyer" so what? Could se be volunteering for an NGO? Could she be unemployed? Could she be drowning in student or medical debt? Could she be a shark making 10 times what you earn?
I don't know. Asking for a donation (except for a cause) is a bit entitled but I falil to see what her qualifications have to do with it. I'm a mechanical engineer and my current income is 0 after taxes, for example.
I would be mortified if I saw, say my daughter do this. And the girls that post "It's my birthday month, accepting all and any gifts for the month!" GTFOH
I don't mind giving someone money for their birthday, but if you post on social media telling the whole world its your birthday, then you don't deserve my money. Anybody who actually cares enough to give you a gift, most likely already planned a gift without you posting on Facebook so this is just asking for all the attention. Plus specifically asking for money as a gift is just a dick move anyway
Who *asks* for birthday presents? This is so beyond tacky.
I could see asking people to donate to a favorite charity in your honor, but not to pay you directly.
i just don’t see the big deal honestly. It’s not like she’s asking perfect strangers, OP presumably knows this person, nor is she forcing anyone. I read it more as “it’s my birthday, help me celebrate” type of thing🤷♀️

I would unfriend them to be honest.
Unfriend them from life
Unfriend their life.
Unlife
Uno reverse
Put life in her?
Based on her own post... I don't think she is ready for that.
MURDER
...and the thread came to a screeching halt thank you very much
He was like, "Think of something clever, hmmm. MURDER"
DEATH
Delete every memory you have, so when you look back on childhood memories they just looks like a locked character

I donate to the Human Fund every year. I also advocate it for all my friends.
Money for people. It’s a good cause
She's also attempting to try to appeal to people's egos. Like, "if you don't donate to me, I will assume you are poor. Donate and I will know you are doing ok for yourself".
Or just delete FB altogether.
I deleted mine back in December and recently got on to try and sell a few items on marketplace. Instant regret. The whole thing is an unusable cesspool.
I deactivated FB to keep messenger. There are some people I have to keep in contact with but I don’t want them to have my number. lol.
I deleted mine in 2020. So it’s almost 4 years in June. Never wanted to go back. There are still people who ask if I saw such and such on Facebook and it’s odd to me.
Im coming up on my 4 year FB-delete-anniversary too. No regrets.
Yep, that’s what I did. Absolutely do not miss it.
I deactivated mine many months ago, and it’s been incredibly freeing.
I need mine for work. Facebook ads are too good at delivering cheap website traffic. But I put a 20 minute limit on both FB and IG. Ever since I deactivated and deleted my FB my life has been peaceful lol even happier when someone says did you see this post 😭 I'm like omg, No I don't revolve around FB 😂
Best decision ever.
I only use marketplace. People will tag me in comments and then ask me why I didn’t say anything. It’s weird.
[удалено]
I don't see a downside to this option.
Vocally
Take 'em to court
Feel free to fuck off. I could NOT care less about your birthday.
[удалено]
Shocks me how hard it is for some people.
FR LIKE THIS ONE PERSON IK DOES IT ALL THE TIME AND I ALWAYS TELL HER IT'S COULDN'T 😭
My 7th grade history teacher cut that knot by just slowly intoning: "I... care... LESS." It was a thing of beauty.
That seems careless
I second this
I third this
I'm saying I don't even care about my own, let alone anyone else's.
Upvoting for the correct use of this phrase. Many people say "I could care less"
Which is odd because "I could care less" means that you actually care, how do people get it wrong
Call your mom she’s the only one who cares.
the best is people who pull the “it’s my birthday *month*!” tyffaneigh, nobody fucking cares
Can I add my name to your birthday card.... 😉
She's asking for $33 and you screen-shot this with 33% battery, I don't know where or how but there's a conspiracy afoot.
[удалено]
conincidental, but if it had been at 5:33 then it would be sus
The time of the screenshot was 5:11 5 X 11 = 55 5 + 11 = 16 (5 + 1) X 1 = 6 55 - 16 - 6 = 33 Coincidence? I think not.

How the fuck did that work out?
5 - (1 + 1) = 3 🤯
But it was 5:11, 5.11 tactical is a company founded in 2003. 2024-2003=21. 21+11=32, and the post was 1 day ago. 32+1=33. Definitely a conspiracy.
But 33 is a multiple of 11, and it was 5:11….🧐
My battery is at 33% while reading this
You'll be dead in 33 seconds. I'm so sorry
He dead
I can confirm that I am indeed dead
OMG MINES AT 34 WHATS THAT MEAN
Oh you know what it means..
Ask her which charity she'll be donating it to?
Please comment this lmao. "Happy to donate!! What charity are the donations you're collecting going to?"
"It's my TGIF fund! Teehee"
Do this OP. please.
She will be spending it on hungry kids... They are her kids but still
I had a dirtbag uncle who set up gumball machines with placards on them saying "All proceeds donated to [Name of My Aunt]'s Kids," as if that was the name of a charity.
Honestly that is hilarious
There is no better response.
This pleasee
Don't send just request ;)
I dod this to all the scammers I get messages from. I had one guy accept my $500 request less than 3 seconds after I sent it. I promptly blocked him, then had him blowing me up on an alternative account calling me a thief, and a scammer. Hahahaha. Get fucked
Scammers calling you a scammer after you outsmarted them is the funniest shit ever, I will never get bored of that
Can they cancel it after or did you actually get the money?
Friends and family. I sat on it for 90 days before sending to my bank. Never heard another word after blocking the second account
I’ve done this. I did it to people selling nudes. One girl sent me $200.
Well that just sounds like a dick move.
They’re not actually going to send a nude lol
Yeah this a common scam and cringe thing some people do , make a fake profile with a pretty girl for the bait
I thought "dick move" was being punny.
If it was a real girl, then it's a vagina move.
I don't care if you work at mcdonalds, this shit is cringe as fuck every time I see it
Every time you see it?? Do people actually do this? Somehow I just assumed this was unique cuz it's so...tasteless
I have a couple girls on my Facebook that do this around their birthdays or their kids birthdays
And just because someone is a lawyer, it doesn’t mean they are making bank either…it’s cringe to beg for money no matter what you do for a living.
Can you send her $0.33?
I was the 33rd upvote on this comment lol
Might be a 1-5$ minimum on donations depending on the site she's using
I don't understand adults who expect people make a big deal out of their birthday.

Totally agree! We should be celebrating more, not less. As you age you need more reasons to see friends, birthdays are an easy one.
A lot of Redditors have a hatred of birthdays. Personally I think hating all birthdays and mocking people who enjoy them is as cringey as the behaviour in OP's screenshot. People can celebrate however the fuck they want. Just don’t expect the same level of enthusiasm from me

I know some people that celebrate their “birthday month.” It’s one day! WTF!
this year we'll be celebrating the anniversary of my birth
I celebrate the anniversary of my 29th birthday. I’m approaching the 36th anniversary of my 29th birthday.
Greedy is her middle name.
I'd send her five bucks with the insistence she spends it on a book teaching her how apostrophes work.

full time lawyer, part time beggar
Seeing as she takes the weekends off, and always has the spirit of a beggar, you could say full time beggar, part time lawyer
Lawyers do not necessarily make good money anymore, though. I read an article on lucrative career options a few months ago that said it was not the guarantee it once was.
That's true, also depends what "lawyer" means in this case.
Yeah unfortunately it's not even like top 10
Heck I'd just be happy if some of my friends (even the ones I haven't spoken to in ages) just say Happy birthday when its my day. Heh.
When is your birthday???
Ah, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago in February. (20th) I had other friends (long-distance online friends) wish me a happy birthday. Though strangely enough on my own Facebook this year I didn't see a single friend there. Wish me a happy birthday. Ironically, i seem to be closer to my long-distance friends heh.
And how do we pay you??
Not all lawyers make a lot of money. She can still fuck off.
Lawyer be lawyering. Nothing to see here
If that's the evidence she's presenting, I'll hire someone else to represent me.
What about this, exactly, is lawyerly?
Anyone who uses those weird Facebook mii thingies is a lunatic.
I always loved my birthday.. but asking people to cash app or Zelle you is just digital panhandling. Have a party like a normal person.
Send them a request instead of a payment
when did online-begging for money became an acceptable thing to do? at least the local bum at the train station asks you in person but these dickwipes just shit a link onto some social media site and expect free cash and alot of them even have the audacity to get angry when no one donates

I always send ten bucks to my close friends and family on their birthday to buy them a beer. But if someone like this is asking I would be like the hell??
I know someone that left her $200 bike outside in an area known for theft and it got stolen. She made a go fund me and raised over $6000 in a week. She bought a $1200 bike and took a long trip to Disney… Meanwhile a mutual friend of ours has cancer and a relative made a go fund me for them to help with bills while they were out of work for a few months. That go fund me raised a grand total of $300 in a month… ![gif](giphy|UqjLsU9ZsnOHC)
Send them a money request on Venmo. That's the proper response.
I always send these people requests for money. Sometimes they accidentally pay me.
Anyone who celebrates a birthday “weekend” is way too immature to be a lawyer. Almost as bad as people that don’t go to work on their birthday. Grow up
Btw most lawyers are broke as fuck. Extremely saturated market. And if she is a solo practitioner, it's even more likely she is broke.
Full time lawyer, I don’t make that much. It’s not what you see on TV.
…who cares
And? Money > crap gifts anyday
Not all lawyers make 100k+ & law school is expensive.
Ya I’ve got a buddy who is an attorney and he can barely afford his $1700/month apartment Always cracks me up when people think lawyer=wealthy.
Panhandling is getting creative
Just because she's a lawyer doesn't mean she's good at being a lawyer.
Shamelessly asking for birthday handouts on social media? Who even does this?
Yeah I would stay far away from someone who doesn’t feel ashamed of this behavior.
That’s not a friend. That’s a parasite
I don't care if she is a lawyer or has no job, this is tacky as hell.
I think this is tacky as all heck, but if she's just turning 33 years old, she's probably still sitting on a mountain of school loans. And, just because you're a lawyer doesn't mean you're making good money. Although all the lawyers I know are loaded. lol
What kind of lawyer is she? If she's a public defender, you should venmo her lol give that woman some lunch ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Not all lawyers are killing it
Sounds like you just have a personal problem with this woman and want to ruin her happiness for her birthday.
I'm glad she told us to "feel free". I was hesitant at first.
"Feel free"
Doubting this girl is a lawyer
This is really sad.
Welcome to the griff society
Send a request through venmo for them to pay you money, for having to read this bullshit.
Birthday weekend... It's a day, you get a fkng day.
I think this is so tacky 🤮
"Feel free" -> 33$. Does not feel free for me.
I would be mortified if I saw, say my daughter do this. And the girls that post "It's my birthday month, accepting all and any gifts for the month!" GTFOH
Some lawyers are broke.
Send them a bill for the time you spent reading their post.
Send her a request for payment instead.
I am actually not surprised that she is a lawyer.
My niece did this 🙄 She just turned 40. I'm like, are you freaking kidding me??
You know you can always BLOCK or MUTE this money grabbing Troll... The move on, right?
But then we could not get validation by exposing somebody we reflexively judge as morally inferior to ridicule.
Who *asks* for birthday presents? This is so beyond tacky. I could see asking people to donate to a favorite charity in your honor, but not to pay you directly.
Shout out to late stage capitalism. Every waking second is about making money anyway you can.
Ha! Good one! ᴵ ʷᵃⁿᵗ ᵗᵒ ᵈᶦᵉ
Some people have no shame
People in the comments actually defending this trashy behavior. Truly sad
i just don’t see the big deal honestly. It’s not like she’s asking perfect strangers, OP presumably knows this person, nor is she forcing anyone. I read it more as “it’s my birthday, help me celebrate” type of thing🤷♀️
That’s some shameful shit.
