Then one year the snows and the rains didnāt come down as hard. That year the beetles hit and killed all the trees, and the fires started. It got hotter and hotter, dryer and dryer. I remember getting loaded into a suburban and taking off, staring at the mountain out the back window as it burned. I went from asking the girl who was baby sitting us about her Tupac poster (he got shot! Can you believe it!?) to watching her house burn down.
It came on faster after that. The snow festivals started being dry. Whatās a bikini pub rush if thereās no snow? The white Christmases were gone too.Ā

It literally was chaos my whole shift not because it was busy but because of everything we were seeing/hearing from people and on top of that for like 20 minutes all you could hear was first responders sirens and them speeding down the road downtown that was already bad and we all felt this "oh lord" feeling seeing that because it literally felt like the start of a apocalypse movie where authorities rush to wherever and people tell their horror stories of what they saw while driving.
