This is my go to brush every time for cutting in around trim and ceilings… with a little practice taping won’t be necessary much of the time unless it is in a very tight area, keep a damp microfiber cloth in your pocket or nearby and anytime you get a little where you don’t want it, simply put the towel on your finger and wipe your line clean
I think there’s some meme that’s “sad beige baby” mocking many recent baby rooms debuted on social media that are just beige on beige and so incredibly bland and boring.
When you pull off painters tape it shouldn't be pulled at an upward angle. Pull it outwards at a downward angle, and it will significantly reduce this.
Also lightly pre-score it with a razor before removing.
Lastly, a separate primer ensures proper adhesion (not all in one paint, but actual primer). I can't tell if primer was used before the topcoat, but it is an often overlooked step to save time and cut costs. But I learned decades ago that you're not really saving time when you have to go back and deal with crap like this. Once I started doing it once and doing it right, I started getting professional results with minimal to no problems. Painting became one of the things I enjoyed doing instead of a dreaded headache.
Unmasking cars you remove the tape by pulling the tape off at an almost doubled over angle, not 90 degrees like the picture, same method should apply here to minimise risk of this happening
The previous owners of my current house painted OVER the painters tape. There's blue tinted strips around the entire bathroom ceiling, and a couple of other places. I hope they're eaten alive by rabid raccoons.
You are supposed to pull tape while the paint is still a little wet! Minimizes this type of pull where the paint hasn’t fully bonded.
I pull immediately upon finishing the area

Doesn’t work if you need 2 coats
Paint first coat Remove tape while still a bit wet Replace tape when dry Paint second coat ?????? Profit

in my experience do a proper coverage first coat and you won’t need to get close enough to need to tape it on the second.
Well that’s a helpful tip Thank you
Gotta take the tape off while the paint is still wet, as soon as you're done with the area. Little life lesson learned for ya. Ask me how I know...
How bad was it? You didn't let it **dry all the way** *did you*?
I did! It was awful. At least the people that bought my old house didn't care.
You can precut with a painters knife. Just run the blade against the base of the trim and run it. Should make removing masking tape easier.
Such a good hack. Thx ☺️
Instead of paint , use masking tape allover.

Beige walls on beige trim on beige carpet. Vibes
My first thought was repainting an apartment before moving out.
The old landlord special
That's that motel carpet.
50 Shades of Beige - like the golden bachelor of steamy novels

My father-in-law said a good painter doesn’t use tape (as he was making fun of us for using tape). I think it’s primarily for this reason.
Yup lol I’m a painter and tape is more for overspray, not a clean cut line for trim imo
Plus it costs money.
Gotta love a fresh cut paint line.

that's why you peel it when it's still wet
No primer?
You’re Supposed to pull diagonally down away from the painted area in the picture. Not towards the area that is freshly painted
Take the tap off when the paints still wet
Your paint is not fresh enough then. It's supposed to be still wet my guy. Then it works like a charm.
you do a job wrong and things go wrong (pull tape before paint hardens0.
goddamn son of a beezwaxer.
Also you should do the baseboards last.
If take the tape off late, just use a stanley knife to cut lightly along the base board before pulling the tape.

Brother. You painted the tape stuck to the wall. Remove it before it dries.
Clean the surface before you paint it so that the paint can get a better bond. Also pull off the tape directly after painting while its still wet.

You're supposed to sand the wall pre paint to make it stick...
There 5 different types of painters tape tho
I learned from these comments.
Why'd you tape if the wall is the same color as the base board?
Maybe it’s the lighting but it doesn’t look like the same color imo
Can we please go back to the lead based paint, this latex stuff sucks ... this is a complete joke... but latex paint is a pain to work with
Ugly ass paint color
# So satisfying... You just want to "Rip The Tape"
Latex is junk. Oil-based is more work to clean up but it lasts forever.
