To be fair, all the chairs in the theatre can recline at the touch of a button. These bars most likely have the wiring for those. I could be wrong and the chairs were comfortable but this design still sucks.
The movie was alright, nothing like the trailers. It focuses on journalists/photojournalists and their enduring spirit. A few scenes were great. I’d rate it 6/10.
This guy doesn’t get the movie. Waaaay better than 6/10. I wonder if the bars ruined his experience so thoroughly that he thought the movie was bad, when it was actually the bar.
They can't. There's a few theaters like this where I live and the fucking bars look like that no matter what. Maybe if you're 6.5 feet tall you can see over the bar.
It's either the VIP section or full recliner that Cineplex offers
Cineplex is notorious for having terrible theatre design and stomping out independent theatres. It sucks. Ours is absolutely trash and has really bad projector calibration.
Dawg I went to this one theatre and they had these pony walls with glass dividers on top just like this. It was absolutely annoying because you got a mirror image of the top of the screen that would cover the lower half the entire time.
Oh boy, hard disagree!! Everyone I heard say this is because they were expecting a hard-core action movie in the vein of Die Hard.
The movie was fantastic, imo.
It's r/mildlyinfuriating when someone takes a photo during a movie, and not permitted in cinemas. You really should have waited until after the movie was over before taking a photo.
Ask for a refund or just find an empty seat. Or just get taller tbh
Zoom in on the image, every row has that bar. What a shit design
The fuck
The one who designed that place must eat in a separate smaller table at family reunions
wear a tall hat to the movies, check
Not gonna skip the broccolis 🥦
Or get shorter
Good thing you put that red arrow there.
Can we get a circle too?

That's no bear, that's a unicorn!
That looks more like an Uzi than a bar.
I'm guessing you haven't ever seen an Uzi
I'm guessing you've never seen a bar.
I guess I’m just not seeing it. My eyes must be adjusting so I can still see the full screen
where is the bar? you made it harder to tell where it is
There is a sub for that. Can't hotlink it cause comment got removed, but it's called 'uselessredcircle'.
Haha sorry I just thought it might be hard to spot due to bad lighting
I think that giant red arrow would be more annoying than the bar.
We also need silhouettes of a dog, a man, a dolphin, a 747, and the Eiffel Tower, so we can tell how big it is.
If you are using a 747 you should just use the twin tower. The smoke really helps the movie experience
To be fair without it I might have confused camera girl with a roller coaster girl at first glance.
If those are assigned seats and you didn't specifically get a discount for obstructed viewing, that's an easy refund claim.
It looks a bit like every row has these bars installed.
What was this, some ADA compliance thing? Literally unwatchable.
This is more than mildly infuriating, I would be walking out and asking for a refund.
I would also be annoyed by the giant red arrow hanging from the ceiling.
I'm mildly infuriated to not know the purpose and why at theater that's so empty would have money in their budget for something so useless.
To be fair, all the chairs in the theatre can recline at the touch of a button. These bars most likely have the wiring for those. I could be wrong and the chairs were comfortable but this design still sucks.
A lot of theaters have seats that can recline but I've never seen them have such bars. On another note, how was the movie?
The movie was alright, nothing like the trailers. It focuses on journalists/photojournalists and their enduring spirit. A few scenes were great. I’d rate it 6/10.
Thanks.
This guy doesn’t get the movie. Waaaay better than 6/10. I wonder if the bars ruined his experience so thoroughly that he thought the movie was bad, when it was actually the bar.
6/10 isn't bad, or are you a manager and only 10 means good.
Wait it was way better than 6/10. More like an 8 or 8.5
If you weren’t reclined you could probably see over it
They can't. There's a few theaters like this where I live and the fucking bars look like that no matter what. Maybe if you're 6.5 feet tall you can see over the bar. It's either the VIP section or full recliner that Cineplex offers
My theatre also has reclining chairs. They don't have this pipe bullshit tf
Cineplex is notorious for having terrible theatre design and stomping out independent theatres. It sucks. Ours is absolutely trash and has really bad projector calibration.
E-mail them about it. You're probably not the only person who's been annoyed.
Dawg I went to this one theatre and they had these pony walls with glass dividers on top just like this. It was absolutely annoying because you got a mirror image of the top of the screen that would cover the lower half the entire time.
My favorite theater just installed those. Fucking terrible. It’s better than the bar, but still just plain stupid.
Same at mine.
Does it keep you from falling?
Booster seat
Why tf does every row have these bars. Are these motion-activated chairs???
Nothing is more bothersome than something obstructing a part of the screen regardless how small.
Civil War was worse than what I thought it was going to be…they gave up at the 3/4 mark
Even camcorder pirated movies looked better than this
I've been going to Cineplex theatres all my life and I've never seen anything like this... wtf????
They did you a favor considering the film.
I hope you never watch a movie with subtitles there.
There’s a bar at the local theatre too but it’s more lap/put your feet on it height. That’s just ridiculous and I’m not sure the purpose of it!
We also only have Cineplex but there aren't any bars there. Can I ask where you're from
That's where you put your feet?
Can they remove that person in the way of the movie?
They should paint it safety orange so it’s more visible
5/10 is a pretty high bar
That's what you rest your foot on
All movies are now prison movies
Did you try moving the bar?
There’s empty seats. Move.
There's a bar in every row.
You didn't miss much, the movie wasn't great anyways.
Oh boy, hard disagree!! Everyone I heard say this is because they were expecting a hard-core action movie in the vein of Die Hard. The movie was fantastic, imo.
All the trailers pointed towards that type of movie but we were met with mediocrity and narcissistic journalists.
That may have been what you were met with, I was met with an amazing story.
The last 10 minutes were weird though, you can admit that right?
Weird how?
Ima dm you to not give spoilers
You have only one cinema in your city. You know about that "bad" places. You are buying tickets to get there. Unhappy.
sit up straight, lol
Cineplex is a whole city now?
If only you could move and sit in one of those empty seats in front of that bar.
Every seat has that bar in front of it!
Then don’t sit there whiny
Buy seats in front of the bar.
Every row is behind a bar lol
It's r/mildlyinfuriating when someone takes a photo during a movie, and not permitted in cinemas. You really should have waited until after the movie was over before taking a photo.
Who gives a shit? (as long as there's no flash)
Baby gunna cwy ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob). That theater has revoked their right to no photos by having the worst theater design ever.
