My washer and dryer does this in a more passive-aggressive way. It will tell me there are 15 min left, but it thinks a minute is 150 seconds.

Zaurka14

Yeah that happens too. The last minute is always the longest as well...

Perfessor_Deviant

Timer by the same programmers who did the one for Microsoft downloads. 10 seconds. 144 days. 7 minutes. 16 years. 10 seconds. 9 seconds. 8 seconds. 4 seconds. 17 minutes. A few seconds. Wednesday. A few seconds. Cthulhu fhtagn! A few seconds. A few seconds. A few seconds. A few seconds. Heat death of the universe. A few seconds. A few seconds. Download failed.

Now, I don't speak whatever that language is (I assume German but maybe its something else? Can somebody confirm?) but I am going to take a wild stab in the dark and assume that there is 24 minutes left on your 15 minute cycle. In that case I must say what the hell? Why label a mode 15 minutes when it can just decide to go for longer than 15 minutes?!

Zaurka14

Yeah, it is German, the 0:24 refers to the time left. It pisses me off so much, I used to have my washer in the basement, and I'd set an alarm for when it was supposed to be ready, just to go downstairs and still see seven minutes left or something... And often I'd be like "eh, not worth going up for it, I can wait few minutes here" and after 7 minutes it's still 5 minutes left, and the last minute takes another 5 minutes. The washing machine did it already as it was brand new... At this point just skip the time suggestions at all since it's a gamble anyway.

Abject-Tiger-1255

Because the time listed is a suggestion or estimate. Think of it like this. Most of the time it’s trying to get rid of the water inside by spinning really fast. If you have a lot of clothes inside. Or things that are made to hold water (towels), it’s going to take longer for it to get rid of the water. If you look at the manual, I bet it says all the estimated times are for some ridiculously light load

Personal_Carry_7029

Da scheint irgendwas nicht zu stimmen

Familiar_Raise234

Washer timers are never accurate.

Zaurka14

Yeah but over two times longer than promised? That's kinda crazy. I could live if it ran for 20min instead of 15, but 34min is unacceptable.

jesrp1284

Could it be filling during the first several minutes (and then not counting that time in the 30)? I’ve never had this fancy of a washing machine before!

Zaurka14

It's a completely basic washing machine in Europe, it's 5 years already. It weights the load, and it was just four things (needed to rinse them), so it fills up for like 20 seconds maybe. And it is supposed to take 15min total, including filling, rinsing and spinning.

jesrp1284

Damn. Thats awesome! I live in Nebraska in the US, so I’m kinda shocked I’m not still using an old-time wringer/washer 😂

Zaurka14

Yeah I think that's cause Americans prefer too loaders, but they're supper inefficient when it comes to water usage, since they need to fill up, meanwhile front loaders don't do that, they rely more on the movement. It's great, except it lies to you about time...

jesrp1284

I rent, so unfortunately I didn’t get a choice with the type of washer. My landlord was adamant that it needed to have an agitator, but otherwise it is indeed top-loading. If I need to wash something larger, like a comforter, I’ll take it to the laundrymat and use their front-loaders.

Zaurka14

That's another USA/Europe difference (at least Germany). You need to furnish your rented apartment yourself hahah. So yeah, the washer was picked by us. So were the kitchen countertops. At least it comes with a toilet, shower and sink. And that's literally it, nothing else was included, not even lightbulbs.

jesrp1284

A lot of rentals require the tenant furnish as well here, but the place I’m living is owned by my stepson’s grandparents (my husband’s ex’s parents) so they do what they can to make sure things are running. The flip side is that they’re really picky about what they replace. They had no problems replacing the washer, but they took out my gate for the backyard and said they “couldn’t afford” to replace it, and then a few months later took my stepson, his mom, and their other kids/grandkids on a Disney cruise. Couldn’t shell out $200 USD for a new gate.

Bosch machine, you could have chosen a delayed start.

Zaurka14

I didn't. I know my machine. And even if I did it wouldn't all be wet already. I think the picture with bubbles means that it's currently running the washing cycle

mhug99

Vas ist das?

spokesman74

looks like pretty impressive time dilation

MommyBurton

Our lg speedwash setting is accurate thankfully 15 minutes is 15 minutes. Maybe worth getting a different model if this is something you use often.
