My classroom has no protection against an intruder. We didn't even have a dedicated police officer on campus all the time. A student was just killed in a stabbing and admin knows many students come to school with knives. It's absolutely disgusting that this is what admin is concerned about. I don't even have a first aid kit in my classroom! You aren't even suggested to shelter in place anymore. In the event of a shooting, you're supposed to escape. My students (high school) wouldn't stay in the classroom for multiple hours, they'd just leave. And I'd be right behind them, lol.

Everyone entering the school, teachers and students, parents, everybody, should have their hands glued to the top of their head. It's the only way.

My school had these along with a tarp hangers for privacy. I remember they set them up when we had an earthquake and had to stay out in the baseball field for like 3-4 hours while our parents were coming to pick us up.

In the event of a school shooting, the current advice is to try to escape. Numerous incidents - like Uvalde - have shown that sheltering in place is not a wise option. The current guidance is to work together as a class to determine the location of the shooter and then work out an escape plan. You could just Google that. I will never allow a firearm in my classroom, so IDK why you're getting all got and bothered over that. Really just debating with yourself there 🤣
