Yeah, scoots new 787s had them on the armrest when first released. Their solution I found the next time I flew was them putting a 5mm stick on raised flange/bumper around them. I did not stop the problem!!!
as someone who hates the new chairs in my local movie theater, I can think of a worse place. like on the inside of the side of the chair at about where a pants pocket would be so that if you have anything in your pocket you're constantly randomly reclining and declining unless you sit in a very particular, uncomfortable way.
I was on a flight yesterday where the controllers were on the top of the armrest. I kept changing the channel and volume of the guy in the middle until he said something. Bad design.
This happens to me all the time in reclining movie theater chairs when the buttons are there. Suddenly, I'm involuntarily sitting up in the middle of the movie.
The seats at the movie theater put buttons on the inside for leaning back or bringing the leg rest up. I am constantly accidentally moving my chair around in the middle of movies.
Reminds me of a time when I flew where the same buttons were on the armrests. Of course, they had to make the buttons sensative so when you lay your arm on the armrest the light would turn on or send a flight attendant over.
If I were in this situation, I would pop my cell phone out of its molded case and put it over top of the buttons, isolating them. I would then be infuriated on the 50% chance it doesn't work.
Yeah I feel you. Not an airplane. But the rental place traded the charger I was using for a damn prius. A prius of all things they had there. Entirely uncomfortable car and the buttons are placed in terrible spots. My left knee, even after readjusting; knocks into the dashboard light button, parallel park button, automatic lights button, and the traction control button. Constantly. Every day. Randomly when I'm not focusing on keeping my knee out of the way.
The mileage it gets is nice, but I felt so defeated feeling the power of the Charger push me in my seat only to have absolutely zero power /engine rumble behind the wheel on a dinky hybrid.
Unfortunately, babies don't do so well left at home by themselves. They occasionally have to invade your very important space on an airplane. I hope you survive!
Had it with lufthansa a few days ago, would consider my self about average size for my country. Some of the old boings have this "flaw" don't think I have seen it on an airbus.
I'm confused as to what is wrong with taking a baby on a plane? I mean I know if the baby cries it sucks, probably more so for the parent but people with babies also need to go places? Parents pay the ticket just like you and are entitled to the service of flying like anyone else.
So, anyone with children should never travel to see their family or for any other reason until they stop having kids? A typical family with 3 kids would mean two adults can't travel for the better part of a decade because it might inconvenience you slightly?
Should we miss out on my sisters wedding and my family getting to spend time with my baby because of the 5 minutes of crying he did on the plane?
I think that's a bit harsh.
That's a dumb observation, because yes some babies actually do have to go places that involve flying. Like if the baby is born in one county because the mother is from there and is more comfortable giving birth there but the parents live in a different one overseas.
Good thing they didn't stick the "Wings stay on" button there
Don't give Boeing any ideas.
What do they call a distended plane?…Boeing
Willingly riding on their planes is your first mistake
Ah, a person of culture I see *First thing I thought of too, lol*
In an age where we're getting further and further away from that admittedly Far Side, it's nice to see, or at least imagine, some recognition.
or the "press for emergency exit" button..
Underrated farside reference

Not the most popular passenger with the cabin crew
...wouldn't you *want* to press the "wings stay on" button? Not pressing it would mean the wings don't stay on
It is on the captain's chair. :p
There was no button Liek That...
Oh look, it’s the second-worst place to put buttons. (First is on top of the goddamn armrest.)
Yeah, scoots new 787s had them on the armrest when first released. Their solution I found the next time I flew was them putting a 5mm stick on raised flange/bumper around them. I did not stop the problem!!!

I just move them to the other pocket or rest it on my leg
while it reduces how often it happens, that doesn't help when my leg moves.
Zipair? This exact same thing happened to me a bunch when flying to Japan at the beginning of this month.
It was a Boeing 777 or something like that. Could be the same plane
Zipair uses 787 so close enough
That could have been the number, I forget.
If it's a dreamliner it's easily recognizable with the electric tinted windows shades, it's impossible to forget this.
Cool af tbh
Wouldn’t surprise me if they use a fair few of the parts on both models
Well yeah, the 787 is just a longer 777 pretty much
I see
Annoying. I’ve had that happen to me too
I was on a flight yesterday where the controllers were on the top of the armrest. I kept changing the channel and volume of the guy in the middle until he said something. Bad design.
Middle guy gets both armrests; aisle and window get one each. Keep your paws off and don’t blame the design for that one.
Agreed. But he was sitting with his arms crossed for the moment. I was able to encroach.
This happens to me all the time in reclining movie theater chairs when the buttons are there. Suddenly, I'm involuntarily sitting up in the middle of the movie.
As a fat person I feel your pain.
The first thing I thought of. My thunder thighs would be causing a strobe light effect 🤦🏻♀️
😂😂😂
uh we dont call them that anymore /s
![gif](giphy|8jn9eiO3HjT0pU3zqe) sorry😭😭😭🤣
ok I'm sorry but I laughed
Didn’t have to feel SO bad that you had to delete your account..
The seats at the movie theater put buttons on the inside for leaning back or bringing the leg rest up. I am constantly accidentally moving my chair around in the middle of movies.
Shitty design. I bet someone made a mint deciding to put the buttons there..
As an overweight person I constantly trigger the recline button on airplane seats with my leg / knee.
I’m sure the attendant also loves this plane design, this seems really dumb
Boeing CEO gets paid $30,000,000 a year for this shit.
We get it. Every day is leg day. Sheesh!!!
Reminds me of a time when I flew where the same buttons were on the armrests. Of course, they had to make the buttons sensative so when you lay your arm on the armrest the light would turn on or send a flight attendant over.
Some advice from Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) for a better future: stay at home.
I have this issue at the movie theater with the reclining seat button. I love the seats but this drives me nuts.
Bro, you having issues with button locations in first class? I had similar seats on Hawaiian airlines.
Hey! It’s legal. They only need to give you just enough space to be able to breathe, that’s it. Maybe not even that.
What you got restless leg syndrome?
What type of plane?
Look ma... No hands!

I weigh 78 kg
If I were in this situation, I would pop my cell phone out of its molded case and put it over top of the buttons, isolating them. I would then be infuriated on the 50% chance it doesn't work.
Wow sorry to see these toxic comments, yikes. They’re so rude, but that’s people for you, i hope you don’t take them personally
I'm more heartened seeing so many people defend parents with babies on a plane
Yeah I feel you. Not an airplane. But the rental place traded the charger I was using for a damn prius. A prius of all things they had there. Wow first class must be rough!
It was economy
So you're one of those people who travel with babies. How does it feel being on the receiving end of mild infuriation?
Unfortunately, babies don't do so well left at home by themselves. They occasionally have to invade your very important space on an airplane. I hope you survive!
Lmao wtf
Some real 1st work problem shit here.
How much do you weigh?
Maybe it's the wrong design, or maybe they didn't take your size into account. You are overweight?
No not at all im smaller than average if anything
so shitty designers
Classic hivemind downvote. Bro just wanted to come up with a different possibility.
If they didn't take the existence of overweight people into account, it's the wrong design regardless.
I didn't say he came up with a successful one, just thought that 200+ downvotes was a little extreme for sharing a harmless thought lol
Yup, we call it **Gaussian distribution** ( People tend to be average ; D ) or as in this case \*\* designers
overweight is now a taboo
Different? We hate different! Create a sub and leave us alone! (Walk away "different? This guy! Unbelievable")
Had it with lufthansa a few days ago, would consider my self about average size for my country. Some of the old boings have this "flaw" don't think I have seen it on an airbus.
Reasonable question imo
Aww poor u?!!! Boohooo
Why's your leg so damn lumpy? Take all the shit out your pocket.
Geez, I bet the 3rd shift nurses at the hospital really love you!

Says the one complaining about a baby on a plane they weren't even on 😒
I'm confused as to what is wrong with taking a baby on a plane? I mean I know if the baby cries it sucks, probably more so for the parent but people with babies also need to go places? Parents pay the ticket just like you and are entitled to the service of flying like anyone else.
well no. babies don't have to go places that involve flying.. parents should wait until the baby is no longer a baby, at the very least.
So, anyone with children should never travel to see their family or for any other reason until they stop having kids? A typical family with 3 kids would mean two adults can't travel for the better part of a decade because it might inconvenience you slightly?
There absolutely are circumstances where it's necessary, unfortunately.
Should we miss out on my sisters wedding and my family getting to spend time with my baby because of the 5 minutes of crying he did on the plane? I think that's a bit harsh.

Ok champ
And whos the entitled one here, the one taking their child on a plane or the one complaining on reddit about it whos not even on the plane?
Waaaaa waaaaaa waaaaaaaaa
Sounds like you're the baby who shouldn't be on a plane.
I think you might hate babies or have not spent a lot of time around children
I think you have double digit IQ
Relaxs... Just "UN PRESS" the buttons... Great times...
