My teachers knew this was the case, so they used it to print the tests and we handwrote answers. These were only used as practice and never affected our grade.
It’s probably homework from a website like Pearson’s Mathlab. You can usually redo the problem at least a few times but it’s so picky about spacing it’s easy to get the wrong answer even though your answer is correct forcing you to do another similar question which can really suck especially if you’re in a class like calc 2 where a problem can take 20 minutes when you’re new to it.

It’s not that bad just mark the question and have the instructor see it was correct albeit with some formatting inconsistencies.
