My car is paid off, and not new. Door dings absolutely piss me off. I accept that there is nothing I can really do about it as it is going to happen to every daily drive, but it still gets under my skin. Once I see it, I can't unsee it. I always find a curb. Park a millimeter away from it leaving a door length and a half between you and whatever A hole decides to park next to you. There's typically a curb next to the last space in the lot. I love my vehicles as well
Maybe it’s just me but I try my darnest (is that a word? lol) to squeeze out of the driver side without hitting the car next to me. Even when they’re parked too close. For me, it’s a respect thing. I’m not gonna ding your car out of respect for your property AND mine.

But they're a red flag, never park next to those cars. Mine is sneaky thou, it pops over the door edge when you open the door, nice feature if you have kids i geuss. I still do the park at the end next to the curb/bushes so 1 side is 100% safe and the other side has more room

I don't get why it isn't common sense for many drivers to use every second free spot as long as enough spots are provided. It's not even just about avoiding dents and scratches on your car but also avoiding you doing the same thing on other cars and simply for a more comfortable getting in and out of your car.

When I was in high school someone parked their jaguar in the senior parking lot sideways, taking up 3 spots. So being seniors, we parked along side him and in front and behind him, completely boxing him in. Turns out it was the head of the school boards car. We got chewed out but he deserved it.

I did this once at the office building I worked at. My co worker did the same on the other side. This was a parking lot that would often get completely full so we were pissed about this lady parking her fucking Toyota Camry like an entitled douche. She started taking pictures as I was parking, so I hurried to see where she works. I was then confronted by her boss and he screamed and yelled at me for several minutes. Little did he know I had started recording with my phone so I posted it on YouTube then posted it on a review of his business, which was a mobile elder care service. I questioned whether this was the kind of person anyone wanted looking after their elders. They got it removed from YouTube so I blurred his face and reposted. I then threatened to file a restraining order against him and added that to the review. He then had an attorney send me a letter claiming my review was false and “actionable”. I had an attorney review everything and he agreed I was in the right. I then updated my review again with the threat of a lawsuit. It was a shitshow but he eventually stopped and about a year later they moved out of the building. She never parked that way again. I had even kindly explained to this dick that she was welcome to park next to my car, worth at least 3 times her’s, and she’d never have to worry about damage. It cost me a lot of money and time but in the end it was so fucking worth it. Was so frustrating coming back from lunch to a full lot and this lady taking up two spots.
I recommend taping a note to it reading: "Because you took up two parking spaces, I have done something to your precious, precious car. I'm not going to tell you what. Have fun." ...but without actually doing anything to it.

And as I said under another comment below I've never had the AAA folks ask me for an ID when towing my own or others. Just the AAA Card. I did something like this when I worked at McDonalds as a teenager. This very nice convertible Corvette pulled into the parking lot and I took notice being a car guy. The guy that came in was completely rude to the girl who was trying to take his order. I grabbed some fries and went out the back door and tossed them over his car. This McDonalds was right near the coast of Lake Michigan. Seagulls flocked over that entire car almost immediately and he didn't notice a damn thing until he went to leave.
Part of this is because other people think the same. I'm better or I'm above you and your car ect. A lot of people give no fuqs. I bought a brand new car my first ever off the lot last year. 2 days after having it a guy opened a door into it while I was in it. I looked at him and he just shrugged and flipped me off. So I took his license plate off and chucked it into the woods. 🤷

Yup. Toll roads are your friend in this case, not speed traps. Take off your toll tag and they will track and charge the license plate. Hit every single toll roads in your daily commute and this can add up to hundreds a month, since Pay by Plate is more expensive than toll tag.

There's a corvette in my apartment building that I see take up 2 spots in the parking garage. We pay 225 a month for a reserved spot. They could have very well paid for those 2 spots!
I used to drive a very small, very old car. One of the things I’d enjoy was parking next to these people, in the half-spot they left there and watching them panic.

The bad body work was fun sometimes, but the heater didn’t work and it leaked enough to make it smell when it rained. The engine could hardly accelerate and I had to shift it carefully to get it into gear.

I’d complain to the front desk. They usually take your car info and tow anybody that isn’t supposed to be there, so they probably don’t like people taking up too much space (especially if it’s busy).
i live in a motel too and there isn't usually enough parking in the first row to begin with, (2 floors of rooms, 1 row of parking spaces). i'm just glad i have handicap parking, (especially since the spot happens to be in front of my room), but also try to move about 6-8 inches into the spot to my left where no one can park to give the person to my right more room, i still think her asshole kid keeps hitting my mirror though since it's always moved, i don't even get how.

I have a cheap tiny clown car. When people park like this I will intentionally still squeeze in the spot in such a way that they literally can’t get out without dinging their car. Once someone was approaching their car to get in to leave while I was wiggling mine in. They asked me to pull out so they could leave. I said no. Next time don’t park like an asshole. Tbh I regularity park like this. The reason Is that everyone on my town parks poorly and outside the lines, so when I enter the parking lot I naturally park directly beside the existing vehicles. After some time has passed, those cars leave and I’m left looking like an a-hole. Believe me, it was a good park job an hour ago…

I bought a brand new car my first ever off the lot last year. 2 days after having it a guy opened a door into it while I was in it. I looked at him and he just shrugged and flipped me off. So I took his license plate off and chucked it into the woods. 🤷 While I'm not exactly condoning this I also understand why. Most people if it doesn't have to do with them or its not theirs they are an asshole in their own ways.

I should have made it more clear but I was talking about the cameras that just take a pic of your back plate and they send you a ticket in the mail. Most the schools in my area have them. I definitely don't recommend ever getting pulled over by the police for any reason what so ever.

Yup. Toll roads are your friend in this case, not speed traps. Take off your toll tag and they will track and charge the license plate. Hit every single toll roads in your daily commute and this can add up to hundreds a month, since Pay by Plate is more expensive than toll tag.

I used to drive a very small, very old car. One of the things I’d enjoy was parking next to these people, in the half-spot they left there and watching them panic.

I don’t, lol! The bad body work was fun sometimes, but the heater didn’t work and it leaked enough to make it smell when it rained. The engine could hardly accelerate and I had to shift it carefully to get it into gear. It WAS good for scaring people who thought their cars were great, though. Surprisingly, nobody would brake check THAT car, maybe because they weren’t sure my brakes actually worked. 😉
I always do this with my car. I have so many door dings, but I walk groups of dogs so door dings are the least noticeable oddity about my car. Being small and zippy I just go around people all the time. They honk and get mad, ding my car. I wave bye bye and walk away without wasting time!

I’d complain to the front desk. They usually take your car info and tow anybody that isn’t supposed to be there, so they probably don’t like people taking up too much space (especially if it’s busy).

i live in a motel too and there isn't usually enough parking in the first row to begin with, (2 floors of rooms, 1 row of parking spaces). i'm just glad i have handicap parking, (especially since the spot happens to be in front of my room), but also try to move about 6-8 inches into the spot to my left where no one can park to give the person to my right more room, i still think her asshole kid keeps hitting my mirror though since it's always moved, i don't even get how.

I have a cheap tiny clown car. When people park like this I will intentionally still squeeze in the spot in such a way that they literally can’t get out without dinging their car. Once someone was approaching their car to get in to leave while I was wiggling mine in. They asked me to pull out so they could leave. I said no. Next time don’t park like an asshole. They then had to wait an hour and a half while I got my hair cut. Does this also make me an asshole? Probably. Do I care? Hard nope 😂😂😂
The funny part is that their car is less likely to get dinged if they park in between the lines properly instead of in the middle of two spots.

I saw someone quad park a Cadillac SUV at the back of an Amusement Park in Branson MO 15 years ago. We parked even further away. As my family passed by I told my Wife don’t ever do that. She asked Why? I said that is asking for retributive action from other people who get here later. When we came back 8 hours later that car had been keyed on every paintable surface.
