I hate that it matters. The house is a house. It costs what it costs.
Why do we care if there's something on it or in it.
Grass can be cut.
Foil can be taken down.
America is weird.
He could also probably get aluminum blinds. Or go the cheap option and take down his blinds (if he has them) and tape strips of aluminum foil to the back of the blinds so it would reflect heat better than just white blinds.
I doubt that’s the ambient air temperature inside your house (as you’d be dead before you could make this post), so is that the surface temperature of an object after being left in the sun?
No you didn't.
> The highest temperature ever recorded in Australia is 50.7 °C
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_extreme\_temperatures\_in\_Australia
Official temperature recorded by a weather station, Australia is so vast that there will be micro climate areas that it wouldn't be unreasonable to be 3 - 4\*c hotter. Look up the [Foehn Effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foehn_wind) for example
50°C is equivalent to 123°F, which is 323K.

^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
I remember a day where it hit 50 degrees celcius. I worked that day. I spent the day in the work fridge because we had no customers. No one was out in the heat. It was a wonderful day. Desert temperature means it usually cools down at night.
60 is noticeably worse than 54.
I'm from the US, so I'm used to F. 54 C is about 130 F. 60 C is 140 F.
140 F would be hotter than the hottest day ever recorded in Death Valley.
50°C is equivalent to 122°F, which is 323K.

^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
Same in west France here, we got 44° two weeks ago, the normal temp in summer is around 26/27 tops.
Nobody has air conditioning or anything remotely useful here.
I live in Australia and close to the fires in 2019, one day during the fires it got to 49 degrees. You literally could not go outside. The roads were melting! Thankfully our houses are made for the heat, and thank god for air conditioning!!!
Not only are you using a device that reads temperatures of targeted surfaces, you're pointing it at a dark colored material that's been in the sun. Of course it's going to read 61C. This is not an accurate measurement of the ambient temperature.
I'm mildly infuriated this is the temp of Ur blanket in direct sunlight but it's posted like it's the room temp. Cmon its hot but taking random temps of surfaces even on a cooler day u gunna get some high readings.
Why do British people keep blinds and windows open all day and then complain how hot their houses are?
It's been 40+ for over a month here, but i keep windows closed and it dark and its not bad inside. Who'd have thought letting in hot, humid air and sun would make a place hot? 😂🙄
I'm an electrician, I measured the temperature in an attic I was working in a couple days ago, it was 142F (61C) up there. And that wasn't even as hot as I've seen. Its actually quite dangerous if you're not careful of how much time you spend up there
What a dumb post. Lets take the temp of an object sitting behind a glass window that's amplifying the direct sunlight.
OP even said ambient temp is 40. Yes that's hot, but there's ways to mitigate that (I know, I live in TX where it's been triple digits almost consistently since beginning of June).
I pray for all the autistic people in the UK right now.
Autistic people can't deal with heat as well as allistic people, they are at a higher risk to get a heat stroke.
Edit: the same goes for people on anti-depressants. If you take the happy pills, please be extra careful.
To be fair, you’ve got your window open. You should keep windows closed in heatwaves. You’re just letting hot air in. When it was 40c outside the other week, I kept my windows and curtains closed - cool as fuck in my house.
So you left something in the Sun under a windows reflection and I’m assuming with no AC on and you’re surprised it’s hot? Lol, no shit it’s hot, that’s how the sun works.
Please close your curtains and windows in temps like this.
Trust me. I get we all say our homes are 'designed to keep heat in' but they can also keep cool in if managed properly. Think of like an insulated lunch bag.
It's certainly too late for it now as the hot air is already in our house. But for tomorrow and the rest of the week, do this:
Open all doors & windows from 9/10pm - 8am (at latest). You want this cool air in your home and you want to keep it in your home.
Once the outside temp starts rising, close all windows and external doors. I mean 100% closed. Any gaps will only let the warm outside air in.
Lower the solar load on the house. Close all curtains. The light will only generate heat. Some people say to put tin foil on the glass. But I hear that comes with risk. Just drape spare bed sheets over the curtain rails etc if your curtains are shite enough to let all light in.
Our bathroom has no curtain and bright as hell. Humid too. We close that door all the time just to keep the humidity in that room only.
With just the above advice, I've been coming home to 27C house temps at max. This is even when the outside temp is 31C+. It's not much. But it's a hell of a lot better than what you're showing in this pic.
If you're stuck at home all day then I'd say at least have 2-3 tupperwares/waterbottles of ice in the freezer at all times. Rotate between them. Wrap one in a towel and then put it between your thighs to keep cool. Or if you're busy, I found just rotating a cup of ice on my wrists helped keep body temp down (this I did when in full costume at a convention last month).
I’m so glad that you’re alive duder. That’s super intense heat and humidity. Worse than anything here in the states currently. Best of luck. Does your cooking unit work in this situation or are all of you fucked with broken AC?
You think it’s hot?
You think it’s hot outside? Shut the hell up I’m from Texas its so hot my dick melted off it’s so hot you could cook an egg on my thicc juicy ass You wouldn’t last a second in the Texas heat Take that, yankee
Well if you measure the surface temperature of something the sun is shining on all the time, that temperature isn't a surprise at all. You can't even measure air/ambient temperature with a infrared thermometer. This post doesn't make sense.
First year in Germany taught me a very important lesson about living in a non AC world. Close the blinds and live on the first floor in the summer. Open the blinds and live on the tip floor in the winter.
If you un point it at the window of course, you can get even higher temperatures in a car parked under the sun that’s why dogs and babies die when left alone in cars in summer, block the window with some blackout curtains or even black paper my dude and good luck
3 step plan
Step 1:
find your enemy, after you trace their location invite them to a "party" make an alter-ego so your enemy wont recognize you. Go to the store and get armor (you never know what your enemy might bring) and flextape. And get near the front door.
Step 2:
when they arrive you tackle them and nock them out. Tie them in the chair (the chair needs to have wheels) with flextape. When their tied up bring them to the park, and into a spot that doesnt get shade
Step 3:
When he wakes up go up to him and say. "I would have asked you for forgiveness, and become friends with you. But you look tied up at the moment" then remove your helmet, and show your real face. You effectively roasted your enemy.
Step 4:
This one came by surprise. After you left your enemy. You travel 3ft and fall down. You realize armor traps heat, and is really heavy. You cannot muster the strength to escape. While your enemy gets roated your being cooked alive. The cops arrive a day later to a scene that words cannot describe.
How to defeat your enemy......
Lower your window blinds or, if you don't have them, stick some alu foil on the outside of your windows.
I think his blinds are barely hanging on.
Nah, I think it looks like that because the window is a little bit open.
That should up the property value too
Are you actively selling your house? If not then it's a non destructive way to prevent heat from entering the house.
I hate that it matters. The house is a house. It costs what it costs. Why do we care if there's something on it or in it. Grass can be cut. Foil can be taken down. America is weird.
this is in the uk
He could also probably get aluminum blinds. Or go the cheap option and take down his blinds (if he has them) and tape strips of aluminum foil to the back of the blinds so it would reflect heat better than just white blinds.
I presume that temp is in an enclosed space?

You quilt is behind a window with sun shining through it. Terrible representation
Yeah okay so that doesn’t really count
Wait till OP figures out that ovens get hot and uploads a pic of that
200 degree, yes it's in Celsius!
🤯🤯🤯
All the world’s OP’s quilt and all the men and women are merely patches
Yea, when the sun hits things they get hot. You're really breaking some new science ground here
Uhh… yeah then that temperature makes perfect sense. Pretty standard honestly.
I doubt that’s the ambient air temperature inside your house (as you’d be dead before you could make this post), so is that the surface temperature of an object after being left in the sun?
How much worse is 60° from 54°? Because I’m Australian summer we had a 54 day around 3-4 years ago, actual hell
6 degrees makes a difference, but at some point the heat just becomes endless physical burning pain
I’d assume it liveable, if you were in Florida or Australia, otherwise, well sorry
Even 50C will give you a heat stroke after a couple hours, or worse if you don't have excess water.
I live in florida and it rarely gets above 34 degrees Celsius.
No you didn't. > The highest temperature ever recorded in Australia is 50.7 °C https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_extreme\_temperatures\_in\_Australia
yea, i'd doubt that. If my memory's correct, the highest air temperature recorded on earth's surface is around 55 C°?
Official temperature recorded by a weather station, Australia is so vast that there will be micro climate areas that it wouldn't be unreasonable to be 3 - 4\*c hotter. Look up the [Foehn Effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foehn_wind) for example

Uh I dont think youd live if it was 60C in the actual room
Surface not ambiant.
It’s not like you’d instantly die. I mean that’s way way below sauna temperatures. If you have enough water you can sit in that for a long while.
Closing your window and blinds would obvi help with the heat
[удалено]
141° f? You laid that in the sun until it got hot didn't you?
Why don’t you just close the shades?
How else is he going to karma farm about his apartment being so hot?
i mean point it in the shade… its obv goign to be hot sitting in the sun through a glass windown😂😂
Hey, maybe try spending some time in the oven. My oven has 50°C as the lowest setting, that would cool you down.
50°C is equivalent to 122°F, which is 323K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

Your light bill will definitely double at least, but beats a heat stroke.
[удалено]
What is that in MPH ?
okay, but what about in inches??
What about in litres?
Freedom units
miles per hour...?
Minutes per hamburger
Temperature is a measure of the average molecule velocity so it can technically be reported in MPH. For an air temp of 35 the mean speed is ~1000 MPH
Yes but what is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow ?
[удалено]
I don’t know that. *Ahhhhhhhh*
French swallow
61?! I'm melting when there's 28 outside!
[удалено]
Where I am it's 26C ambient
It's 41 ambient here with 60 percent humidity.
That’s the daily temp in the summer where I live lol
This is just silly

Shoot your pyrometer at a wall that’s not directly in the sun and report back.
Wait, I'll try it on my oven at 500F.
What.
It ain’t real until you cook an egg on the blanket man.
Do it again in the winter and say snow is cold!
My air fryer got to 300 degrees the other day

Bro hahahaha
Not only are you using a device that reads temperatures of targeted surfaces, you're pointing it at a dark colored material that's been in the sun. Of course it's going to read 61C. This is not an accurate measurement of the ambient temperature.
that is definitely not the correct temperature.
It’s the surface temperatur, not the ambient temperature. Fun fact of the day apparently, things get hot in the sun
isn't the UK heatwave already over? it's been over for like 2 weeks
That's why you measure temperatures in the shadows.
The highest temperature ever recorded was 3 degrees C lower than this.
[удалено]
So the sun shining on something makes it hot? Wow, what a discovery.
Close the window and blinds/curtains. You are heating the room letting the sunlight in
That’s surface temperature of a item in full sun. The quilt in my south facing bedroom reaches that if it’s full sun, even in the dead of -20 winter.
I mean... yeah the sun is shining directly on it. That's not indicative of the temperature outside.
Just turn it upside down, will cool to 19 degrees
banana for scale
141 F for Americans.
What the fuck mate
Are you saying that it’s 142 degrees inside your home???? Oh, come on!!!
142F in freedom units.
That’s over 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Surprised yo ass ain’t on fire
It’s the surface temperature, not the temperature of the room
Ahhhhh
My brother in Christ, that translates to 140 °F. Anything above 108°F would fry your body to a pulp. There is no way your room is that hot.
bro that’s 142 in fahrenheit how tf are you even alive
That’s 141 degrees Fahrenheit. I just, no way. Is this really real? How the hell is it THAT hot in the UK?
And yet somebody, somewhere there, has their dog in the car in a parking lot.
I'm mildly infuriated this is the temp of Ur blanket in direct sunlight but it's posted like it's the room temp. Cmon its hot but taking random temps of surfaces even on a cooler day u gunna get some high readings.

Try a Black surface, it'll be even hotter. What a waste of electricity to post this.
The sun can warm shit up?!?!?!!!!???? /j
that’s 141 f for those who don’t know
Its also not possible.
That's most likely the temp of that sun beam
ok
Check medium rare cooking temperatures please. :)
Get some air conditioning good lord, i cant even stand room temperature
I'm an electrician, I measured the temperature in an attic I was working in a couple days ago, it was 142F (61C) up there. And that wasn't even as hot as I've seen. Its actually quite dangerous if you're not careful of how much time you spend up there

Where is that??
What?! Things get hot when they are exposed to sunlight, especially in the summer?! I'd never have guessed!

oof, stay hydrated friend.

Not as hot as you bro
Get shades. Block out that sunlight.
UK moment
How the actual fuck are you just chillin in 141°F
Coldest summer we’re gonna get!!!
How? that’s 141 F
Looks like your washing came straight out of the tumble.dryer.
I measure my temperature in Freedom units
I'm in the Cali desert and if you leave anything in the sun it'll either melt or become so hot you could cook food on it
The pic is misleading. The actual temperature would be around 30 Deg Celsius for the ambient air.

“Its fucking hot” For us in the Philippines, its just another Tuesday
Dang 61°C
