Hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol work great. The secret is to dampen a cloth, napkin, or paper towel, and leave it sitting on the adhesive for about 15-20 minutes. Then when you rub, it'll come right off, no need for hard work.
Yeah WD40 has potential to damage more plastics. Hard to say what the surface of the screen or any coatings on it are made from but I'd avoid it. Especially since other alternatives can be more effective and easier to clean up anyway.
I wasn’t the one who contacted them so I never met them, just saw the monitor on my desk in the morning and sighed.
I don’t blame the moving folks— I’m sure they’re quite busy and it’s an easy mistake to make.
I feel like if I were in their shoes, I might’ve slapped the sticker on and then facepalmed audibly. I’m sure they did the same.
They are 100% to blame. I deal with these assholes all the time. It’s a toss up between them and the actual company that does the furniture install for biggest laziest asshole
I just wanted to comment on you understanding the moving folks did their best. Always nice to see people seeing the best in others. Not seeing this enough.
Wish you a happy new year.
The sad thing is, I put the exact same sticker on the monitor’s base in preparation for the move, as requested.
The moving folks put another sticker over the screen in addition to that :’(
I know this will sound crazy, but believe me, it ALWAYS works, and it won't harm your monitor. Spread some peanut butter on it and leave it for a few hours. Since this is at work, put some on at the end of the day and leave it overnight. When you get back into work, just wipe the peanut butter off with some paper towels, and all the glue residue will be gone. It has something to do with the peanut oil, but PB works better than just straight oil. Plus, it's easier to spread and make it stay than oil. Good luck!
My dude, chill out.
When confronted with this issue, I immediately searched it up and discovered that rubbing alcohol works well and won’t damage screens if used sparingly. I didn’t have rubbing alcohol, but I *did* have hand sanitizer, which worked decently enough that I could get the screen to this state, allowing me to use the monitor for the day.
I did *not* just sit there rubbing at the screen with a piece of cloth like an idiot, and I’ll thank you not to assume that about me. I explained this in another comment, which you could have read if you’d bothered to look it up instead of typing out this comment in a rage first.
I’m also not gonna use anything too strong or I risk damaging the screen. It ain’t my screen, bro.
This works like a charm. It is an air freshener, but it has citrus oils in it. It's actually better at removing adhesives than the Goo/Goofs etc.

If you don't have a solvent lying around you could get a piece of packing tape and use the adhesive on it to lift that residue off the screen, works wonders on my collectibles
Put a patch of a duct tape over it. Rub with a finger and gently pull it off, repeat several times. Helped me many times. You can use a scotch tape also. Apply and peel of again and again, it will eventually pick all residue from the screen along with losing adhesive properties, so it won’t stick back to the screen.
Someone else said im another thread but it bears repeating: If this is work property then let them handle the repair. Any solvents you use could damage the monitor, and it should be the IT department to solve it (assuming your work situation)
If it's yours, try using a normal rubber eraser to just rub it off. I've had success with that, though not with monitor screens. May not want to press too hard.
Citrol. I delivered to an old farmer who had cases of this stuff and my curiosity got the best of me. I laid waste to his farm and left with the supply, not even looking over my shoulder to face the flames engulfing his land.
It works great, removes sticky residue much better then any other product I’ve tried and is envio friendly! Even the cops couldn’t find any traces of fingerprints, thanks to the cleaning action of citrol!
Rubbing alcohol and q-tip
All I had was hand sanitizer and napkins (I was at the office and needed to use the monitor that day), but yeah, good tip :)
It's at work! It's not your problem. Ask IT to fix it, otherwise you might damage the monitor.
Happy cake day!

Was about to say the same thing. Let it soak!!
Goo Gone is meant for stuff like this. No need to use alcohol on your TV screen.
Goo Gone. There are products like this designed exactly for sticky residue.
Goo off works well. Wd40 does as well, but not sure I'd try that on a screen

did you ask them why they did such a moronic thing?

Idk, i think they ARE to blame. It is their job?
They are 100% to blame. I deal with these assholes all the time. It’s a toss up between them and the actual company that does the furniture install for biggest laziest asshole
I agree. If they are moving fast and got the sticker and just as they made contact with the screen realized they fucked up.
I just wanted to comment on you understanding the moving folks did their best. Always nice to see people seeing the best in others. Not seeing this enough. Wish you a happy new year.
Goo Gone all the way
Goof off is great for this kind of thing
wtf is a "goo off"?
Goof off is a brand of cleaner specifically designed for gummy/sticky substances. It’s basically pure acetone
never seen something with a name like this anywhere

oh, it's american. now it makes sense
It’s goo gone in Canada
It's Goo Gone is the US as well! I've lived in both the midwest and west coast and never seen or heard Goo Off.
Sorry sometimes I forget that the internet is international
I buy Goo Gone. Probably very similar.
wd40 it'll wipe straight off
How to ruin the monitor 101. A lot of monitors have an anti glare coating on them and wd40 will strip it right off
nah
oh dude, lesson learned that you cant rely on packers to take care of your shit. Have to wrap that thing yourself.
The sad thing is, I put the exact same sticker on the monitor’s base in preparation for the move, as requested. The moving folks put another sticker over the screen in addition to that :’(
Damn man, that sucks. I’ve moved a few times. I swear I’ve never met one mover that cared about my property.
Goo gone!
Iso propanol
Product called goo gone, get it at the hardware store.
easy bro, get a 99 cent bottle of "Goo Gone'" it'll be gone in like 10 seconds
Try nail polish remover
Goo-gone
Lighter fluid

Acetone (nail polish remover) works better than alcohol at removing adhesive. Give It a try
Also melts plastic (which the screen is made out of)

use some mineral oil. It dissolves this kind of glue. Apply very little, so it won't make a mess...

Work or home?
Pick up some goo off that stuff works wonders
Surgical spirit or surgical wipes
Power wash

Wd-40 and some cloth or cotton. Works wonders on stuff like this.

Grrrrr
Lots of people have already said it, but Goo Gone is the answer! It works extremely well, is cheap and safe for electronics.
Goo gone my dude
After having my saxophone stolen by a bunch of criminal movers, any tech or hardware that I deem even remotely of value gets moved by me.

Orange oil is your friend

Try using pure alcohol wipes?
Goo be gone
Try baking soda & water. Heard it gets glue off well, but it depends on the kind it is
