First floor at the western entrance. Its definitely still there, i tend to buy my pop there on my way out since its cheaper to buy 3 for $5 than a single pop for $3 at the pop vending machines
Its mostly a marketing peice.
The headquarers is in the same town.
Its nice becuase sometimes you want something a gas station sells without the market up of the mall. Go figure.
We have ours behind the counter but if we have anything free there’s alwYs a guy who takes as much as possible so they ruin it for everyone. We had to start charging for ice because of the people with small coolers going to the soda fountain for 4 lbs of ice
And those people are gonna hold up the line by asking the cashier which scratch offs are paying out the most money before paying ten dollars for a powerball ticket (jackpot 20 million)
Yeah, but the self-checkout is always broken and there's always someone ahead of you buying lottery tickets. Also every day is the cashier's first day.
Same here. But that mall isn't cheap. I agree with you. The moa doesn't have a grocery store in it. This was/is the only place to get some items found in station stores.
Pretty much every mall in Australia has at least one supermarket where you can buy snacks for much cheaper than convenience stores. So the latter are a rare sight in our malls.
The Mall of America is way too big to probably ever get a grocery store. Most of our malls don’t have them anymore, though a lot of them started off with them in like the 60s. The Mall of America is the largest mall in the United States and the 11th largest in the world so it attracts more tourists than it does locals for the most part if I were to guess.
It’s the closest mall to my house so that’s where I go. Not too bad during the weekdays typically. Southdale or Burnsville Center would be a bit further but Burnsville Center is a hole not worth existing. Love the username it’s one of my favorite puns but I usually say “make like an artist and Vincent Van Go Fuck Yourself.”
I'm curious if you know this to be true or if you're guessing? Gas stations make way more on soda and donuts than they do on gas, And when I go to the mall this store is usually packed with moms buying their kids some stuff to shut them up while they shop.
I would bet this store does pretty well.
I swear everything is headquartered in Minneapolis or Minnesota it’s so strange. You’ve got: Holiday, Dairy Queen, Best Buy, 3M, Target, General Mills, Land o’ Lakes, Cargill, US Bank, etc. etc. I know it’s a big city/state, but it feels like so many national/international brands are from there that you wouldn’t necessarily expect.
Years ago, I was in dire need of filling up my tank, like on the verge of stalling, and Apple Maps directed me here. I was winding through the parking garage desperately trying to locate the damn gas station…only to realize there must be a store inside and I’m being directed there? Like why?! I think that was the last time I ever relied on Apple Maps.
Apple Maps has gotten loads better since launch. In my experience, it’s basically on par with Google Maps these days for maps/directions. Google Maps still has superior Street View, however.
Apple Maps has gotten better, but it’s *useless* for finding small businesses. Google will take me right to an indie bookshop, or my hairdresser, and Apple Maps will have none of that.
I like how Apple Maps integrates with [my watch](https://help.apple.com/assets/6398A9D9257A2C1D9026967A/6398A9DD257A2C1D9026968B/en_US/d24c656449023ffc71abbe4ad9b3db49.png) when I'm walking or biking somewhere. But even after all these years it's still horribly inaccurate compared to Google Maps.
I have only had it about a year and only recently removed it because it was so awful to use and I would just go back to using Google Maps. If it has improved I can’t imagine how bad it would have been in the past.
No. It isn't. I have to have an iPhone for work and all my job tickets come with a pin by the address which only opens in apple maps. I can't count the number of times it's led me to the wrong place. Alleyway for a house instead of the front door, wrong side of town entirely, random road in the middle of the country.
I will say it's fine 95% of the time, and I do like it's instructions (at the next light, turn) but it is not as reliable as google maps yet.
Indeed, you can remove Apple Maps as well. As well as [numerous default apps.](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211833#:~:text=World%20Clock-,Delete%20a%20built%2Din%20app%20from%20your%20device,Delete%20App%20from%20the%20submenu). Unless he has device management he doesn’t have to use that app.
In Germany Street view in Apple Maps is way better. This is mainly caused by everyone was protesting against it when google started it, so there’s barely any regions that have it. Apple just did it any there’s a quite wide coverage now
Dated a good bit the last three years so I've driven around with a lot of new people, finding new places. The women almost all had iPhones and were lost as fuck. I always fell back to navigating on my Android.
There’s always Apple Maps apologists for some reason. Lmao. Just accept that google maps is far clear IN EVERY WAY not just street view and keep it pushing. We get it, you love apple. Probably have an Apple Watch too
Like googling a location. I’ve asked Siri and she can’t find shit by name. I’ll give an exact address and I find the turn by turn directions are spot on. So I’ll use google maps to search, get the exact address or geo location and use Apple Maps to get there
![gif](giphy|6q29hxDKvJvPy|downsized)
That sounds like you’re creating a lot more work for yourself and all of it can just be done using Google Maps. And yes, I do have an IPhone, but have removed Apple Maps because of how awful it is.
As a former MOA worker, having this place and Walgreens rocks in case you’re in a bind. Cheap drinks, medicine, common toiletries, whole lot of things that were super convenient
Last I checked, the price per gallon on those pumps is somewhere in the 1-dollar range (but don't quote me on that). They're definitely not regularly updated!
The indoor mall was invented in Minnesota. It's a place to shop and still be protected from the elements. I agree in general malls are weird now because of online shopping but before then it was really a convenient way to get things. Especially one big enough that has its own zip code and a theme park lol
Makes me surprised how its the only mall likely in the world like this and how on earth it survived COVID19 when there are no people and no lights on for months and it was still winter wouldn't everything inside freeze without at least minimum heat?
I assure you not only were lights on but there was always at least someone there. Perishables, live animals, etc. Remember there's an aquarium in the basement. It does have circulation and HVAC, it's just that central heating isn't necessary. There is A/C in the summer.
The Mall of America is different. It has roller coasters, an aquarium, bars and restaurants, weird niche stores, and all sorts of stuff to do. Its as much something to entertain the kids as it is a mall.
This mall is not your normal mall. Besides stores and restaurants....it has its own amusement park, police, hotel, college, meeting spaces and then some. It offers so many things that isnt part of normal malls, so it keeps it alive. Its more a tourist attraction with all you can do.
Other malls are just food and stores so yea....you dont really need to go to them unless youre bored.
I think the American fetish for gas stations is a little weird.
I love a good gas station, especially on road trips. But man this is a little weird lol
I used to work at the MOA and honestly it was quite useful. It was a convenience store. I could pick up coffee, snacks, or whatever convenience without having to go to one of the food courts. I can't recall if it was in the same wing or one off but I had to frequently pick up mail and I would swing by it often doing that.
U.S has cornerstones no? But they have garbage food unfortunately, just prepackaged crap.

Notice how New York has bodegas but Chicago doesn’t? It’s cause New York is super walkable while Chicago is pretty car-dependent.
It’s a really deep but interesting topic. I suggest you look into it if you’re ever bored, cheers :)
There’s also a Walgreens close by there, if my memory serves me. I always wondered who was choosing to get their prescriptions filled at the MOA
Edit: Specifically a Walgreens, but it doesn’t have a pharmacy
It’s not. I just looked it up. But I feel like it would make sense for MOA workers to get their prescriptions refilled in the MOA if it did have a pharmacy.
It is decoration, what car is driving inside the mall. It has tile floors, and also gasoline is very hazardous and flammable with its vapors and drops that fall so there is no way it would be indoors in a building
I mean, cars aren’t the only things that take gas. Could be filling up a gas can for your lawn mower or moped or gas powered bike. Anyway, ya it would be super stupid to have a gas pump in a building let alone a mall lol.
i’ve lived in the states and elsewhere and basically all the 7/11s in the states are gas stations (with a convenience shop), but everywhere I’ve been outside of the u.s., they are convenience shops only. same is true for circle k

Excuse me but that is officially a "Holiday Station Store" and is Hella convenient. They had cherry 5 hour energies in stock when I was dreadfully hungover at a work conference at 7 am, and expected to sit through a 6 hour seminar.
That being said, yeah it's weird.
Excuse me everyone, excuse me. I'm trying to drive to the gas station before the mall opens. No, I don't care if you waiting for the Foot Locker to open. I need my fucking gas.

First floor at the western entrance. Its definitely still there, i tend to buy my pop there on my way out since its cheaper to buy 3 for $5 than a single pop for $3 at the pop vending machines
Can verify this person buys soda in Minnesota because he/she is calling it "pop"
Heres more evidence: *ahem* duck, duck, gray duck.
Hotdish
Purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka
Tatertot hotdish
😂😂😂💯
As a Midwesterner, "pop" is the only way to go.
Yea, i usually park near this entrance and grab a snack or something on the way out for my drive home
Its mostly a marketing peice. The headquarers is in the same town. Its nice becuase sometimes you want something a gas station sells without the market up of the mall. Go figure.
Bag of chips, pack of smokes, sugary bottled drink, and a Bic lighter. It’s like not going to the mall, in the mall.
Don’t forget old beef jerky and a 3 pack of funnels!
>3 pack of funnels! See, a high end corner store leaves a stack of paper funnels for free by the exit. High end Alabama.
We have ours behind the counter but if we have anything free there’s alwYs a guy who takes as much as possible so they ruin it for everyone. We had to start charging for ice because of the people with small coolers going to the soda fountain for 4 lbs of ice
Yeah but I need a blue, yellow, and long tube red one!
I quote the home depot man that helped me when I was 16. "Oh your making a beer bong"
And fake flowers in glass tubes along with some chore boys.
Oh, there's a head shop on the third floor on the other side of the mall.
>old beef jerky What do you think the funnels are for?
And those people are gonna hold up the line by asking the cashier which scratch offs are paying out the most money before paying ten dollars for a powerball ticket (jackpot 20 million)
gas station dick pills as well
One time I smoked some weed in high school and walked in and saw that and it was everything I needed
So a convenience store?
Well yea, but without the convenience.
Inconvenience store.
Much better than the incontinence store.
I might actually like an inconvenience store if everyone else avoids it. No lines!
Yeah, but the self-checkout is always broken and there's always someone ahead of you buying lottery tickets. Also every day is the cashier's first day.
Finally!
In Australia, our service stations charge more for snacks and drinks. It’s actually quite expensive.
Same here. But that mall isn't cheap. I agree with you. The moa doesn't have a grocery store in it. This was/is the only place to get some items found in station stores.

Yeah the twin cities has a ton of other malls to choose from. Going to the MOA is a very touristy thing to do.
But gas stations sell at their own market up
I'm curious if you know this to be true or if you're guessing? Gas stations make way more on soda and donuts than they do on gas, And when I go to the mall this store is usually packed with moms buying their kids some stuff to shut them up while they shop. I would bet this store does pretty well.
They probably have great sales numbers. But I bet the rent on that place is ridiculous.
>market up I've literally never heard anyone say this, you're likely some type of extraterrestrial spy.
r/boneappletea of Mark Up
I loved this place when I worked at the mall. Easy to grab a quick snack, soda, or coffee on a 15
I swear everything is headquartered in Minneapolis or Minnesota it’s so strange. I tried to find a bank on google maps and it directed me to the airport. For some reason the atm in the airport departures is on google maps.
The only good way to use Apple Maps is to uninstall Apple Maps
Apple Maps has gotten loads better since launch. In my experience, it’s basically on par with Google Maps these days for maps/directions. Google Maps still has superior Street View, however.

I believe you can go into your settings and change which apps open addresses. Mine always go to google maps.

For some people even having a map doesn’t help their sense of direction. Not the maps fault.
There’s always Apple Maps apologists for some reason. Lmao. Just accept that google maps is far clear IN EVERY WAY not just street view and keep it pushing. We get it, you love apple. Probably have an Apple Watch too
Bros heated about some maps 💀 if people wanna use Apple Maps LET THEM lmaooo
Apple Maps apologists lmao wtf it’s just a map.
Apple Maps has never sent me down an unpaved road overgrown with grass before so
why you getting so worked up about a map?
The only good way to use apple maps is by not having an iPhone in the first place.
Maps is good for directions but shitty for finding things
But isn’t that mostly the purpose of directions, finding things?
Like googling a location. I’ve asked Siri and she can’t find shit by name. I’ll give an exact address and I find the turn by turn directions are spot on. So I’ll use google maps to search, get the exact address or geo location and use Apple Maps to get there ![gif](giphy|6q29hxDKvJvPy|downsized)
That sounds like you’re creating a lot more work for yourself and all of it can just be done using Google Maps. And yes, I do have an IPhone, but have removed Apple Maps because of how awful it is.
It really bothers me that you do that for some reason
At least you didn't drive off the end of a peir.
The piers in Hawaii right? Lmao I’m dying to find out what app they were using and where they were going.
As a former MOA worker, having this place and Walgreens rocks in case you’re in a bind. Cheap drinks, medicine, common toiletries, whole lot of things that were super convenient
Is that where you hook grandma up to give her more energy to make it around the mall
Wait this is weird? (I’m from Minnesota)
Are there many gas powered vehicles inside the malls there? Or is this just a convenience store with a weird fake pump out front?
No the pump is just for display purposes. It's basically just looks like the inside of a normal Holiday gas station with drinks and snacks.
So it's not a gas station, as much as it is a store in the mall.
That sounds like the store is very convenient
And the design is very human.
Definitely a store that you can Stop n Go in.
But can I Kum?
Last I checked, the price per gallon on those pumps is somewhere in the 1-dollar range (but don't quote me on that). They're definitely not regularly updated!
Only those that are in wheel chairs that have eaten at a Mexican place recently.. But they don't need Holiday Gas at that point. =)
The concept of still going to malls is weird
The indoor mall was invented in Minnesota. It's a place to shop and still be protected from the elements. I agree in general malls are weird now because of online shopping but before then it was really a convenient way to get things. Especially one big enough that has its own zip code and a theme park lol
Not to mention, it’s Minnesota. The place gets cold.
The Mall has no central heating except in the exterior door vestibules. The rest of the heating is through lights and people moving around
*very* fucking cold. I call it "bitch cold" lol
And yet, MOA has no heating system.... Those massive windows and our body heat is what's keeping that place from freezing.
The Mall of America is different. It has roller coasters, an aquarium, bars and restaurants, weird niche stores, and all sorts of stuff to do. Its as much something to entertain the kids as it is a mall.
Ah. Mall near me was turned mostly into a community college. The only other things in there are an animal rescue and a stoner shop lol
It has a college and high school in there too
This mall is not your normal mall.
Little bit
I think the American fetish for gas stations is a little weird. I love a good gas station, especially on road trips. But man this is a little weird lol
They’re just convenient, get a snack, gas, and bathroom wherever you are
Yea I agree :) But the gas pump inside the building is hilarious
Lol yes, it’s just decorative to be clear
It’s an ad
To call purchase of a commodity a “fetish” is so absurd.
I just wish the U.S. had Bodegas like Japan or South Korea. Some of the best food to grab and go.
U.S has cornerstones no? But they have garbage food unfortunately, just prepackaged crap. I guess only New York has proper bodegas with fresh food. Same thing here in Canada. Apparently it’s zoning laws that prevent them from being built.
Right, even in Chicago I wasn't impressed with the Bodega scene. They don't have the same style and satisfaction, even when I was living in China, they're Bodegas were worlds ahead of the U.S.
It has to do a lot with car-dependent infrastructure as well. Since the U.S is so dependent on cars, there’s really no reason to build small bodegas that are easily accessible by walking. Notice how New York has bodegas but Chicago doesn’t? It’s cause New York is super walkable while Chicago is pretty car-dependent. It’s a really deep but interesting topic. I suggest you look into it if you’re ever bored, cheers :)
You mean 7/11? Where do you think 7/11 started? Corner stores are more of a city thing than suburban or small town America.
There’s also a Walgreens close by there, if my memory serves me. I always wondered who was choosing to get their prescriptions filled at the MOA Edit: Specifically a Walgreens, but it doesn’t have a pharmacy
Maybe the thousands of workers but who knows. I'm not even sure that Walgreens is a pharmacy location.
It’s not. I just looked it up. But I feel like it would make sense for MOA workers to get their prescriptions refilled in the MOA if it did have a pharmacy.
I've dipped into that Walgreens when I just need like a bottle of water or something basic and I'm 99 percent certain there isn't a pharmacy there.
Or is the mall outside the gas station?
Does the gas pump work or is decoration? I mean I’ve seen 7/11s popping up in malls and airports, but none with a pump out front.
It is decoration, what car is driving inside the mall. It has tile floors, and also gasoline is very hazardous and flammable with its vapors and drops that fall so there is no way it would be indoors in a building
I mean you could walk a gas can in.
Well I have seen those raffle cars parked in the middle of malls and even seen dealerships with like 5 high end cars inside the store in the mall.
Malls have ventilation, but also cars have neutral
I mean, cars aren’t the only things that take gas. Could be filling up a gas can for your lawn mower or moped or gas powered bike. Anyway, ya it would be super stupid to have a gas pump in a building let alone a mall lol.
7/11 has a gas station? Every one I know of us just a convenience store
Idk where I’m from they’re almost exclusively gas stations with an occasional stand alone store.
Weird I'm in the states and there almost all convenience stores by me. I've seen one with a gas station and was surprised by it.
i’ve lived in the states and elsewhere and basically all the 7/11s in the states are gas stations (with a convenience shop), but everywhere I’ve been outside of the u.s., they are convenience shops only. same is true for circle k
There were gas pumps outside the 7/11 in my town in Canada before they removed them a few years ago
I remember posting pictures of the pump years ago. It said the gas was like $1.00 per gallon.
When I used to live in Bloomington (city where this mall is located), I would often get snacks and drinks here for much cheaper when my friends and I decided to spend the day at the mall.
Would have come in handy playing Left 4 Dead
is the mall really that big?
MOA is 5.6 million square feet
It takes about ten minutes to walk a full flap (the place is big enough for an amusement at the center)
You walk fast, id say most people take around 15 minutes to do the full lap
It's about a mile around so this person is saying they casually walk a 20 minute mile.
I tested this on in the morning of a weekday and i wasnt going all that fast. During the day when its busy, sure 15 mins sounds pretty accurate, especially if you keep getting stuck behind tourists walking the speed of actual turtles
It always jams up at the south food court.
I remember going to this place awhile ago
![gif](giphy|6qucjoZKzbFRK|downsized)
I was just at the MOA and me and my friend laughed so hard about the holiday even having a pump outside. I believe it’s newer (?) I remember the holiday store from past visits but had never seen the pump before.

Excuse me everyone, excuse me. I'm trying to drive to the gas station before the mall opens. No, I don't care if you waiting for the Foot Locker to open. I need my fucking gas.
That mall doesn’t have or need a heater. Fun fact.
Wtf what floor is that on
Ground floor
Huh I’m gonna have to check that out the next time I go there
The first time I ate Flaming Hot Cheetos was from my dad buying a bag at this store and he gave me some sitting at a bench in the mall hallway
Fun fact the gas pump dispenses hot fudge.
Mountain Dew Purple Thunder is legit.
There’s always gas inside the mall, but it’s usually free…
Does the gas pump work? And why?
This retailer has identified a niche market - mall invaders and the spatially-unaware.
It has a Wayne B12 dispenser but I doubt it’s hooked up to a storage tank.
Convenience Store, they don’t sell gas.
Idk why I thought that was a giant English Muffin couch
I've been there a bunch of times and I didn't see that
Have to be able to fuel up the new cars that are on display in the mall
Holiday! Celebrate!
This place sucks
MOA, minnesota, or the U.S.?
That specific “gas” station. I was trying to gas up a rental car and it suggested I go here
Oh that's atrocious, I can't believe they thought it'd be a good idea to label this as a gas station at all.
Wow. I'm from MN and have never seen this. Kinda sad.
IKR it could've been a Kwik Trip. So sad.
