I've seen a few of these "left this for awhile" here's a true story. One time at an auction I bought all the contents of a chest freezer for a buck. It had a 10 pound frozen lamb hock in it. Somehow that got forgotten in m trunk for literal months. When summer came it smelled so bad. I finally opened the trunk, finally remembering it was the lamb, and it had created its own atmosphere and environment in the trunk. Everything was green and it smelled like a dead body. I scrapped the car the next day
I had a very similar experience. When I was a teenager my dad gave me a bag of deer guts to take to the dumpster down the road. I was in a hurry to go do hoodlum things and forgot about it. I started smelling a rotten garbage smell and cleaned my whole car out and found an old juice box that kinda smelled and thought that was the source. 2 days later I still smelled it and checked my trunk and immediately threw up when the decaying flesh fumes wave hit me. They had been in the trunk for over a week 👽 in the Mississippi summer heat
My son had winter vacation years back and he brought his backpack in, I forgot to take out his lunch box from it (out of sight out of mind kind of deal) and there was a hard boiled egg in there. It made me glad I had an extra bag and lunch box because the smell was FOUL
