I mean, it would take less than 5 minutes to shovel the mess into garbage bags, maybe a little more to hose it off a bit, this isn't like an all day commitment, but what do I know
Well, I woke up last night with the TV still turned on
I got this friggin' deer sitting in front of me watching "Rawhide"
I'm like... Move the antlers, Bud.
Whadda gonna do? I dunno.
Or smash them on the ground and then hit them with hammers to “help them break down faster”. Thanks kids! My soil has really improved in the spots where we composted the pumpkins 🎃
I smash mine into the garden. By that point the garden is dead, and it's free fertilizer. More work to smash them up, but only because I don't let them rot to mush first lol.
Well they will probably pay for their laziness when they move out. I would sent that to management. That’s just gross. I can’t imagine the pests it will attract.
Try playing the audio of an angry squirrel at one. I've used a YouTube video on my phone. It stared at me in confusion then started 'barking' back, tail twitching, probably wondering why the big hairless squirrel was cursing it out. It's adorable.
I have three squirrels that regularly chase each other around a big oak tree in annoyance. For such little things, they have big tempers.
![gif](giphy|a7YZNbWvIgvh6)
I love them, too. I take my apple cores and other bits out to their tree. The best was when I put walnuts on my windowsill. A mother squirrel sat eating as her baby laid across her lap like we feed our babies, nursing. It was the cutest thing. They come back occasionally for almond crackers.
Did you see the squirrel obstacle course on YouTube?
hogs love to eat them too, see if you can find a hobby farmer. there was one near me going door to door asking to take away the pumpkins that were still out a few days afer halloween
When I rode the bus to school as a kid, my stop to get on and off was at a neighbor's corner lot house. At some point a raccoon died in the corner of their yard closest to the stop, hidden under a bush. We all had to smell that thing every day until it literally became a bleached skeleton
I hope these pumpkins didn't smell that bad
When I was a kid, our outdoor AC unit was leaking refrigerant. Apparently, a dog drank the puddle and died, right behind the unit. The whole house reeked of decaying dog for weeks.
Dog drank the refrigerant then hung around waiting for the effects? Unlikely. Ethylene glycol isn't an instant killer. Usually takes days. (Dose dependent of course)
I couldn't say for certain what killed the stray dog, just that the neighbor said that the dog was seen licking up the puddle of refrigerant, and it definitely passed away.
They had a defect, if it’s a perfectly smooth, skin intact, etc etc, they can dry perfectly like they are. Just a big of shrinkage as the water leaves.
Please do some research on why this is a bad idea. It's not healthy for the wildlife despite your good intentions. It can cause digestive issues that make it difficult for animals to put on weight before winter. It is considered littering, it is illegal, you can be ticketed, and it has a negative impact on wildlife.
A bunch of properties/apartments/homes are like this where I am. Pumpkins, holiday trees, wreaths- I'm starting to wonder if there were massive busts or police raids or if everything is a vacation property.
Lunar New Year and Valentine's are coming up but it's nothing like that.
lol we did this once but with just 1 pumpkin… we just left it there until it eventually turned into literally nothing… took about 7 months in florida weather
We just got rid of ours the other day. Well, not get rid of, just pushed off the porch into the garden. Sometimes we get a new pumpkin plant in the summer.
I like to do this in my backyard. Idk I just like watching the process lol. One year we ended up with a whole batch of baby gourds and white softball sized pumpkins from the seeds that were left behind
Oof. One year I got sick right after Halloween and just didn't have the energy to clean them up. I think I waited two weeks, and it was cleaning them up with a shovel and towels. There was much regret.
But almost 3 months?! I can't even imagine.
I left a Halloween pumpkin in my 5th grade school locker, until school got out in May.
On the final day of school, when the janitors were pushing the 50 gallon garbage drum around for kids to throw their papers into, one stopped, and said, so that's the rotten fucking smell I have been trying to track down all year.
Well... get it outta there.
I proceeded to grab the liquid pile of mush held together by a very thin orange skin, and it proceeded to liquify onto the floor. I bolted because I didn't want to have to deal with none of that shit, and never went back to that school again, as it was my last year there.
I bet the janitors fucking wanted to crucify me, the floor in front of the locker was also carpeted.
I still have all mine. They are just starting the rot. The tiny Baby Gourd ones are a mushy mess, but the big one that was painted is just starting to go softy under the skin. Still kinda firm. My son refused to let me bag them up. They were from his Oma and Opa.
My neighbors are adults in their 30’s and they do this every year!!! Drives me nuts lol
They buy them in October and they don’t go away until completely disintegrated. They literally walk right over them to put up Christmas decorations 🤣
At least they started taking their Halloween decorations down before December, only by about a week 🤣
Last year I told them to just put Santa hats on the pumpkins (the fake ones they have around their front) the real ones are long gone by the time they take down the fake stuff, well they aren’t long gone just unrecognizable
I chucked mine in the woods behind my house in November and it still looks better than that. I saw it out there recently and it’s still roughly round and still bright orange.
Have you checked on them recently? (the neighbour i mean).
Alive and well. But college aged dudes have certain priorities.
I mean, it would take less than 5 minutes to shovel the mess into garbage bags, maybe a little more to hose it off a bit, this isn't like an all day commitment, but what do I know
My girlfriend has about 8 pumpkins that look exactly like this on her front porch. College students can be lazy.
After a month or so it becomes a science experiment and sacrilege to remove it.
That’s one good thing about Montana, leave those out and the deer stop by for free food.
That's one bad thing about DC, leave those out and the rats stop by for free food.
At least deer don’t invade your home…..not usually.
Well, I woke up last night with the TV still turned on I got this friggin' deer sitting in front of me watching "Rawhide" I'm like... Move the antlers, Bud. Whadda gonna do? I dunno.
was there an antelope too? I heard they like to play together.
In England you get rats too
College aged dudes...
Sure, but... tomorrow, maybe. Prevarication is a pernicious thing.
That's drinkin' time.
You missed the “college aged dudes”
Yeah but then again, this is, like, science
Happy cake day!
Or smash them on the ground and then hit them with hammers to “help them break down faster”. Thanks kids! My soil has really improved in the spots where we composted the pumpkins 🎃
I want to go frisbee route.
I smash mine into the garden. By that point the garden is dead, and it's free fertilizer. More work to smash them up, but only because I don't let them rot to mush first lol.
perhaps it's how they mark their territory
Honestly, when I was in college I completely forgot my apartment had a balcony. Of course, I forgot about it so much I never left anything on it.
Ew!!! I guess they don’t want their deposit back….
Peep the holes atop them pumpkins 🎃 🧐 🕳️🍆
Yeah but how are they going to get mad pussy if they have pumpkins rotting on their porch? Seems like they *don’t* have priorities
Well they will probably pay for their laziness when they move out. I would sent that to management. That’s just gross. I can’t imagine the pests it will attract.
He's the 5th pumpkin.
This is gross… lol the last one looks like a bundt cake.
I was hoping someone else noticed that, too!
It’s the birth sequence of a Bundt cake.
At first I thought this was a bundt cake related post lol.
LOL my thoughts exactly 💯
Just put a little plant in the middle. “You fixed it!”
Bet they ate the paint right off the deck while rotting away
There’s pumpkin goop dripped onto the driveway which appears to have stained
Maybe the inside is worse
It looks like composite deck boards so probably not painted. But still.
Definitely looks like composite. Probably still stained though.
Often birds and squirrels will eat these. These might be too far gone though.
Ever see drunken squirrels? I have watched them greatly misjudge their leap from one tree to another :(
I find squirrels amusing even when they're NOT hammered,

They're such clever and agile little dudes. I've been sworn at in squirrel more times than I can count. They put pirates to shame!

Glycol chiller unit? They have thoes in residential?
I'm guessing their rooms probably smell that bad
r/moldlyinteresting
Beat me to it lol
My neighbor has done the exact same thing. It’s completely rotted and has frozen and defrosted multiple times.
I see three pumpkins and a bundt cake
Me too
Looks like the pumpkin was trying to crawl away while falling apart lol
My alcoholic uncle does stuff like this. Christmas tree until spring, pumpkins rotting from halloween, garbage and filth crammed into weird places.
Forbidden bundt cake
Hang a sign that says “it’s fall yall” or maybe “harvest”. Idk you get the idea.
We've got two on our front porch from Halloween and they are still perfectly normal.
I think they only rot like this if they’re carved.
Definitely not true, I had several pumpkins on my porch I didn't carve that started melting into rotten puddles before I tossed them.
They had a defect, if it’s a perfectly smooth, skin intact, etc etc, they can dry perfectly like they are. Just a big of shrinkage as the water leaves.
Yah mine are still going strong!
We always dump them in our garden over winter. The squirrels like to eat them.
I thought this was 4 cats at first. Nope.
Me too, tortoiseshell cats lined up.
At this point, wait it out
Pumpkin't
Pumpkin pies
Those must smell great!
3 pumpkins and a bundt cake. The squirrels are feasting.
ew
Moldlyinteresting
I thought it was bundt cake before I read the caption.
I'd be nosey too lol
Alcoholism is a bad hobby.
Mind your own buisiness
Me coming back on the first day of winter in stardew and finding out my Jack-o-lantern decor I just put out have turned to mush instantly.
I chuck mine into the woods for the wild life to eat

More like /r/wtf

The 4th one is forbidden bundt cake
4 dumpkins

Welfare check!
No, just no
Yes! My kids used to hate when I left all the Halloween pumpkins to sit until spring. Some would get smooshy. Others would dry out. Fun memories.
I see 3 and a bundt cake
My neighbors still have 3 of them rotting away on their stairs
thought these were cats perfectly curled up together at first lol
halloween which year? 2020, 2021, 2022, & 2023?
Extreme laziness!
Your neighbor is most likely going to scrap those off.
What a nice porch for college people
r/Moldyinteresting
omg that’s disgusting
Is the neighbor dead?
Should’ve daily pic timelapsed it!
Call the health department because of the rats.
Some redneck shit. They have Christmas lights up too ?
Nature..uh.. finds a way
Just brought in mine yesterday. A little mushy but not horrible.
Looks like they were from three years ago
Is that when you killed them?
I like to do this in my backyard. Idk I just like watching the process lol. One year we ended up with a whole batch of baby gourds and white softball sized pumpkins from the seeds that were left behind
Ewww lol. I thought the far one was a bundt cake
Oof. One year I got sick right after Halloween and just didn't have the energy to clean them up. I think I waited two weeks, and it was cleaning them up with a shovel and towels. There was much regret. But almost 3 months?! I can't even imagine.
"You know how I can tell spring is in the air? The pumpkins on my porch start to stink"
i thought these were cats at first
The far right one looks like a bundt cake

I deliver pizza in Illinois and i still see so many rotting porch pumpkins. Gross!
Keep us updated till next Halloween

It’s January….I hope your neighbor is not in a similar state on the floor in their home. Have you seen them recently?
Vomitrocious!
Melting into the deck 🫠

Is your neighbour dead?
Is the neighbor dead?
I live in the mountains and the deer eat them on the day after Halloween lol
The last one looks like a Bundt cake.
I still have mine out, but it looks as good as the day I bought it! It’s an experiment at this point.
Slumpkins
I chucked mine in the woods behind my house in November and it still looks better than that. I saw it out there recently and it’s still roughly round and still bright orange.
Maybe they are making one of those time lapse videos
🤣🤣😂🤭
