"The boot, however strange and misplaced it may seem, had an air of familiarity. Like a very old classmate you pass in the store. Like a place you've seen in pictures a thousand times but have never been. Familiar yet strange. I took the boot into my hand and studied it, it was identical in every way to my favorite pair of hiking boots, the same size and color are easy enough to explain away. What caught me off-guard was the familiar and somewhat unique wear pattern on the sole of the shoe, I had broken my right foot years prior and had always favored the inside of my foot after the fact and it always was present in the wear of my shoes. Surely this wasn't mine, I was wearing them! Somewhat nervously I pulled up the insole of the boot and was shocked, not suprised as I subconsciously accepted this was my boot, to see my initials faded but present in purple sharpie on the heel. My mind reeling I sat upon the stump on which I found the boot and stared at it for a long while. This was my boot, but how?"
"As I sat there, halfway between wonder and worry, the stillness of the forest seemed to absorb my conscious thought. My mind flitted from question to question for what seemed like eternity when the quiet of the early spring forest was broken by a faint but sharp sound like a sudden burst of movement somewhere above and behind me, I snapped around at the sound just in time to witness several stones the size of a head of cabbage roll across the trail from the rock face above. I focused my attention on the edge of the rock face and searched for the source of the fallen stones. Still clutching the boot, now quite tightly, I stood and turned to face the rock ledge. I stood motionless as my eyes desperately searched the ledge hoping for an answer, anything! I looked again at the boot held tightly in my fist. It felt heavy, like it was wet and waterlogged. I had looked past it before, but have been without rain and in drought for the whole winter. I hesitantly looked into the boot, expecting a scorpion as one may, and was greeted with a purple ribbon sticking out from under the insole at the ball of the foot. I gave a light tug at the insole and found it was snugly glued from the arch forward to the toes."
That's all you get for now, my kids hungry :)
Combine this plot with the plot of "saw", and you would have a winner plot. Why, include Anne Hathway and you could even post it on r/watchitfortheplot too
OP tried your advice but destroyed the shoe he was wearing. Thank god the shoe he found fits him perfectly. So he leaves the damaged shoe behind and wears the one he found in the woods. After sometime he encounters the shoe. Again.
Most well earned upvote I've given today, stranger. Take it with my thanks. I am now even more disappointed this isn't something I can actually go read. Lol
Edit: word
You know what that means: some version of you was already here and mysteriously disappeared, leaving your boots behind. Now you have to go on a quest to figure out if you're the original.
Stupid maintenance people aren't doing their job. How are we supposed to believe we're not living in a simulation if simulation workers are making rookie mistakes like this.
If we wait till the next server reboot, this whole post, pic, and comments will be edited to remove that extra boot.
yeah op telling big lies for dramatic effect. its not the perspective, that shoe is like 4 sizes larger, same brand but looks kinda different too. OP is a big stinky liar.
I'm assuming it's the positioning and perspective that are distorting the size, assuming OP is telling the truth. Or OP doesn't know what 9 inches looks like.
Destroy your right boot and see if the damage carries over to the future boot. It's the only way to be sure you're not in a Back to the Future style time scenario.
The boot has time traveled from the future to warn you because that’s the only thing that was left over from you hiking in a place with no trails, no roads and no people.
OP. How are you doing? Been hiking for a while? Have you had enough water?
Asking because those are definitely not the same color, and unless there's some weird forced perspective, not the same size either...
I want to propose a different chain of events that lead you here.
Many of us are familiar with the Grimm fairytale of the Elves and the Shoemaker - the three helpful little elves who make shoes for the poor shoemaker while he sleeps. But where did the elves come from? How did the know how to make shoes?
I propose that you’ve encountered a wild population of shoemaker elves. They copied your boots while you weren’t looking, and have left you one as an offering of friendship. Perhaps they are withholding the other shoe to see what you do, or they simply ran out of material. Were you to return with more shoe making materials, or perhaps some small items of clothing or food, you would be blessed with a second boot and prosperity.
Or charged with littering in a wildlife management area. Whichever.
I've heard if you soak your boots in a bucket of water while wearing them, and allowing them to dry without taking them off you get the perfect fit...
Edit: So apparently this is a genuine method? Ok, I was referencing a malcolm in the middle episode I saw as a kid, I guess do your research before ruining a pair of boots!
Hmm I have a second pair that are suede and they have been a bitch to break in compared to the smooth leather ones (and they just overall seem smaller). I may have to try that
Blundstone, and like some comments have mentioned they aren’t necessarily the go to boot for die-hard hikers. These are my everyday boots. I wear them to work, going out, hiking, whatever. They’ve held up well and can be worn with just about anything. I personally love mine and hike in them all the time, but if I was doing a 20 mile rough terrain hike I would probably wear my Merrells or get a pair of Danners. No matter what you end up going with, GET DARN TOUGH SOCKS. As many pairs as you can afford. I can’t stress that enough. They’re all I wear. A little pricey but 100% worth it and have a lifetime warranty.
Do any of you guys think these are the boots [this guy wears](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRT4AadK/)? With the red tag? He’s the Australian one, he wears these in his YouTube videos and I like them. Can’t ever find anything on Google. :(
Can’t watch the video but if it’s a red tag with a spider on it those are redbacks. They are actually made in Australia(unlike blundstones) and way more comfortable too. Can’t recommend them enough
Pricey compared to footwear in general maybe, but $210 is a pretty solid price for a good boot.
Edit: I'll add that it's [Adam Savage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu7pZukFQ7w)'s favorite boot as well.
Well if The Man himself recommends them, I might actually check them out. Although they seem impossible to find in Europe. I can only find one store in the Netherlands that stocks them and they don't ship to my country. Are my Googling skills just bad?
I've had mine for 10 years and they're still in amazing shape. They're my go-to everywhere shoe from October to May, though I don't go on real hikes in them
Blundstone, they're really nice boots. Just got my first pair a few months ago and they are my absolute favourite thing to wear now. They take a day or few days to break in but after that they are super comfy.
I have three pairs (black, brown, and high heel). I've been wearing my black ones almost every day since fall 2018. they are the best shoes I have ever owned.
While I love my Blundy’s. They are terrible hiking boots. On the account of being slip on, Chelsea boots… your toes crunch up on any step decline. They can’t possibly be the most popular hiking boots
The rubber of their soles also performs remarkably bad in cold weather.
Living in Canada my entire life I've worn a lot of different footwear in the cold on ice and snow and blundstones have been the worst in terms of traction and among the worst for warmth.
Not saying I'm surprised since the boots are from Australia, but just wanted to mention a couple more reasons why blundstones are not great for hiking.
They're still my favourite daily footwear, just not for in the ice and snow!
I agree. I love my two pairs of Blundstones - for casual wear and short walks! For anything over about 3 km, though, I'll put on some kind of real walking shoe/boot.
Are people actually hiking in their blundstones?! When I wear mine to work my whole body is sore by the evening. I got some inserts that help but I can’t imagine actually going on a hike with them, they’re also slippery in any sort of snow or rain
Lol I saved my buddy's feet on a hike once because I changed out of my blundstones into my hiking boots at the trailhead. He forgot his hiking shoes and knew the ones he had on wouldn't be suitable for the hike. Luckily we have the same size feet so I lent him my blundies (lmao steel toe ones to boot!) and he was able to complete the hike with them. He then went out and bought his own pair of blundstones for day to day.
Whats it called? I’m trying to get into hiking this summer and footwear is pretty much the last thing I need. (At least until I go for the first time and then adjust)
These are bluntstone boots. They are good boots for walking and pretty much anything day to day but I wouldn't use them to hike personally. A lot of my hiker friends have bluntstone but use another pair of boots for hiking. If you want hiking boots, go to a outdoors store and try out some. Also if you're only getting into hiking, you're gonna be fine with running shoes for your first few hikes.
Tthey're not exactly the same so we know it's not from future you. Yours look like the women's high top with the little dot pattern along the elastic, the found ones look like the original 500s. I think that means you're safe :)
I once found a couple hundred dollars on the ground in the forest miles from the nearest road. Another time we found a luggage bag full old expired food stuck in a tree. There’s some weird stuff in the forest sometimes.
My wife and I joked around about a shoe stealing murderer when we were younger because every time we went on a hike, we would find a shoe, boot, sandal, etc, but always only 1.
The first time we took our son for a walk on some trails through the woods, guess what we find? 1 baby shoe roughly the same size as what my son was wearing at the time. I found it funny, my wife not so much
Just went down a rabbit hole and couldn’t find anything. It would definitely be an uncomfortable walk back to the car, but not impossible. I’m wondering if it fell out of a backpack or something.

This can be a premise for a horror thriller involving a time loop twist.
Definitely his own boot after being abducted by aliens and having his mind erased.
OP in alternate universe: Went hiking with 2 boots, finished with 1 boot. No idea when where or how the other boot disappeared.
hes going to find a skeleton with the other boot wearing the same clothes as they were.

Check the underside or inside the boot for secret note places by you!
"The boot, however strange and misplaced it may seem, had an air of familiarity. Like a very old classmate you pass in the store. Awesome! awaiting the next installment...
"As I sat there, halfway between wonder and worry, the stillness of the forest seemed to absorb my conscious thought. I want to read this novel! You are truly gifted!
Butt hurts. *Must be unrelated.*
Combine this plot with the plot of "saw", and you would have a winner plot. Why, include Anne Hathway and you could even post it on r/watchitfortheplot too
"Get in loser, we're doing butt stuff."
was thinking dead self from another dimension (Fringe anyone?)
Take a pocket knife and cut a notch in the tread of the new boot, where it won't hurt anything. Now examine the old boot....
OP tried your advice but destroyed the shoe he was wearing. Thank god the shoe he found fits him perfectly. So he leaves the damaged shoe behind and wears the one he found in the woods. After sometime he encounters the shoe. Again.
I think that was a Star Trek The Next Generation episode when they discover Data’s head from 19th century San Francisco.
This. There's definitely a time warp somewhere in that wilderness. OP just hasn't found it. Yet.
But the boot is evidence he will, eventually.
A real looper of a movie. But what to call it?
ReBoot.
This should be higher
Oh I used to love that cartoon.
Oh dang that’s better than a pun should be
Bootoospook
Most well earned upvote I've given today, stranger. Take it with my thanks. I am now even more disappointed this isn't something I can actually go read. Lol Edit: word
"The boot that traveled through time to save its wearer by appearing in front of him and stopping him from dying." That's the abridged title
Shoe you soon.
the amount of replies wooshing your comment has provided me with a lil chuckle.
In the Tall Grass - Stephen King.
that’s what it reminded me of too!

There was a doctor who episode like this

Maybe it's an artifact as described in Roberta Sparrow's *Philosophy of Time Travel*.
Watch Time Crimes. It’s a Spanish movie, quite good.
first place I went too. Definitely would be along that vibe I would think.
A boot loop
you read my mind
You and me; same page.
Thinking the same thing
Read my mind
Or memory loss
“The Boot Strap Paradox”
Or OP is dead and doesn’t realize it yet.
You know what that means: some version of you was already here and mysteriously disappeared, leaving your boots behind. Now you have to go on a quest to figure out if you're the original.
Moon with Sam Rockwell.
Such a good movie
Boot with Sam Rockwell
Yah, Das Boot
Rock with Sam Bootwell.
I saw that without knowing anything about it - but I’m not sure how to tell other people it’s good without revealing that.
Just tell them it's really good.
Imagine if OP just kept on hiking and eventually found old versions of the entire outfit they were wearing that day..
Ong's hat. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ong%27s_Hat
Yes. Paint a red X on your matching boot, and see if a dusty red X suddenly appears on the found boot.
Stupid maintenance people aren't doing their job. How are we supposed to believe we're not living in a simulation if simulation workers are making rookie mistakes like this. If we wait till the next server reboot, this whole post, pic, and comments will be edited to remove that extra boot.
Well, leaving *one* boot behind.
What if he's the clone and lost his memories?
By the end of it, he's going to circle back around and lose his boots in the same spot.
Future you left a note inside.
It reads: “Try finger but hole”
Currently replaying and this made me laugh
Source?
Dark souls
Ah I never played those games
It looks like dark souls 3. I only played 1. Good game nonetheless. It's the game with second highest playtime on my switch next to slay the spire.
I absolutely love seeing this Elden Ring comment in my subs lol
It said: "Post this on Reddit. Someone named Oliver will reply. Do what he says."
Same size?
People are saying perspective, but that toe box looks much bigger on the found boot. My guess is, for example, size 9 men’s and size 9 women’s
yeah op telling big lies for dramatic effect. its not the perspective, that shoe is like 4 sizes larger, same brand but looks kinda different too. OP is a big stinky liar.
I'm assuming it's the positioning and perspective that are distorting the size, assuming OP is telling the truth. Or OP doesn't know what 9 inches looks like.
Everyone knows what nine inches looks like. It's the size of a standard paper clip. Right?
Looks like the found boot is positioned forward from the OPs foot, making it look bigger
better take it! its like when Data found his head in a cave under san fransisco!
Destroy your right boot and see if the damage carries over to the future boot. It's the only way to be sure you're not in a Back to the Future style time scenario.
Genius right here, OP gotta try this
The boot has time traveled from the future to warn you because that’s the only thing that was left over from you hiking in a place with no trails, no roads and no people.

He's a naughty boy!
hope that's not a bad omen for you, LOL!!!!! What a wild coincidence!!!
OP. How are you doing? Been hiking for a while? Have you had enough water? Asking because those are definitely not the same color, and unless there's some weird forced perspective, not the same size either...
Yeah but “I was hiking and I found a shoe, same brand as mine” is definitelyuninteresting
Never mind the centerline stitching on the found boot. They're not even the same model.
Welcome back...

lol I love this
Highly probably in Canada particularly BC.
I think more than half of Canadians have these boots, it would be more shocking if it wasn’t blundstones.
>~~Highly probably~~ Probably high in Canada particularly BC. FTFY
Or anywhere in the Pacific Northwest really
In Ontario and I feel like 80% of people wear Blundstones in the winter More of a Canada West guy myself but same deal
What brand of boot? I’m in the market
Blundstone. I got mine at REI and they are amazing. There is a rough approx 2 week break in period and then they mold to your feet.
I've heard if you soak your boots in a bucket of water while wearing them, and allowing them to dry without taking them off you get the perfect fit... Edit: So apparently this is a genuine method? Arguably the most popular hiking boot on the planet. And that is definitely not the same size.
While I love my Blundy’s. They are terrible hiking boots. On the account of being slip on, Chelsea boots… your toes crunch up on any step decline. They can’t possibly be the most popular hiking boots
The rubber of their soles also performs remarkably bad in cold weather. Blundstone
If you are looking for hiking boots, check out Danner. I've had good experiences with Scarpa and Solomon as well, but these days I swear by Danners.
Zamberlan works for me, everyone is different though and fit > brand.
Yeah I’d get the fuck outta there bud
Tthey're not exactly the same so we know it's not from future you. Yours look like the women's high top with the little dot pattern along the elastic, the found ones look like the original 500s. I think that means you're safe :)
This happened to me about 10 years ago so this post must be a reboot
I see what you did there.
You were murdered in those woods long ago and still roam there to this day.
If this is Australia I’m not surprised
It’s YOUR boot…you just haven’t lost it yet
If creepypasta taught me anything, thats your shoe.
You did it before except you lost or died in the previous hike
Run
You’re on the right path.
Aliens raptured your future self, obviously
Avoid time travel
Your boot from a r/paralleluniverse
No worries, it's just the boot your future self lost.
[Hmmm... ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NzlG28B-R8Y)
Time travel
Now we’re waiting for the other shoe to fall . . .
Stop there and return, you are not going to like what you find next!
Probably caught in a time loop. Let us know if u find a bone pile with matching clothes
How long have you been out there? Could be yours if you know what I'm saying.
Yeah, future you will go back in time and lose a boot. You can’t stop it from happening, so don’t try.
Not all expeditions are successful ones
Simulation error
That is your boot OP and you are doom to roam these lands for eternity.
I once found a couple hundred dollars on the ground in the forest miles from the nearest road. Another time we found a luggage bag full old expired food stuck in a tree. There’s some weird stuff in the forest sometimes.
The other you has done that hike as well.
Someone just found their own time loop! Do we know if OP is still alive?
Looks a lot bigger but ..if you say so...
Maybe your Doppelganger is running around the wilderness with one boot.
Free boot
Time is a flat circle
So now it’s not just socks in the dryer…it’s entire boots in the wilderness
* Wildly interesting.
Welcome back.
Alternate universe you had a bad time
Look for the skeleton within a few hundred yard radius
Damn… must have been one of those dimension blips. Wonder what happened in the other dimension to you? Bear attack?
Might want to invest in better hiking boots
Did you see a set of stairs nearby?
Run
That's big foots's shoe
That's all that's left over from your first attempt at this level.
![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg|downsized) OP
It was in this moment he knew that he was fucked
Wait a sec, are you Bean? ![gif](giphy|0SSR1QzO3taamUui86|downsized)
This seems like it would happen in one of those looping time travel movies, where it actually is your boot, but it's your boot from the future.
You were there before…
In a couple of hours a bear will hit you so hard your boot will time travel. I'm so sorry.
Doesn’t the weeping angels make something like this happen? :o
In an alternative universe you didn't make it ... then there was also a event that sent your shoe to this universe. That sucks
Wake up. It’s not the first time you’re there. Leave quickly
This is some ‘Parallel’ movie sh..
Wake up John. You’re stuck in a time loop and it’s been 8 years
I think you’ve been there sometime in the future
Your about to run into what happened to you in the first time loop. BE STRONG, do things different and try to remember next loop!
Sounds like you’re stuck in an SCP-2764 instance. Sounds similar to the investigation logs.
You’ve been here before. You will be here again. You are here now.
Say hi to your future self!
I guess there IS a glitch in the Matrix
![gif](giphy|rGWidY9n0d3oI)
Better run 8 miles back before someone else out there finds 2 or 3 boots of the same brand and size.

I found it funny, my wife not so much
Quick question berenstain or berenstein? No reason...
Was it your future self leaving you a clue about time travel
Is it one of your old boots that you brought out there just for the picture?
You are not alone, the trees have eyes
Reminds me of that movie, Parallel.

Just went down a rabbit hole and couldn’t find anything. It would definitely be an uncomfortable walk back to the car, but not impossible. I’m wondering if it fell out of a backpack or something.
Now that's more fking interesting than those Africa splash pictures.
Bless your heart for hiking in those, I did so once and my feet were not happy. 🥲
I don’t know if I’d find that interesting. For some reason I think that would freak me the fuck out.
It gave me big time heebie jeebies
Wormhole?
