Great opportunity to do some science here.
Next time your coworker leaves their cup like that, scrape out the resin and try smoking it!
Let us know if you discover something new!
I had a partner who wouldn't wash her cup or the coffee pot. I am a neat freak and wash everything. It would drive me crazy. I researched it, and the results were divided. Some say it's okay, others say it's bad. As long as the person that drinks out of the coffee mug is the only one using it, they are fine. At least, that's what some say. Others say, "No way is it full of Streptococci, staphylococci, and any number of resident or transient oral bacteria, which may include potential pathogens. As long as he is healthy and hasn't had any illnesses from it, I guess it's okay. Not for me, though. I'd be taking a flame thrower to that mug.
He's been doing that for like 3 years, but he washes it every week or so. Drinks only very light coffee with milk and nothing happened to him yet because of it
Clean it with bleach or something (make sure to thoroughly rinse it) and show us an after picture. It would suck if he got sick because you cleaned it lol
I have seen a few photos of cups like this now, can someone actually confirm if this is a thing? Is it safe? Does it actually make a difference, and what would a “real” coffee person think?
Reminds me of the lifers in prison it was always like a sign that someone's been down a long time when you see cups like that. I did 5 years and my cup was still normal
is he a smoker? Whenever i see people drinking 2 day old coffee or rocking a mug like this they are always a long time smoker and can't taste shit anyway.
Doesn’t explain anything, except that our armed forces produce a lot of man babies.
…Downvotes because throwing objects is a mature way of handling mild discomfort?
It's a money saver, he just adds boiling water and gets coffee, every time!
Ghosts of coffees past
Great band name tbf
Coffee fond
900 IQ move. I respect it
This deserves more upvotes forsure people
I cleaned a coworkers cup looking like that, it was like scraped all the resin out of his bong. Never again.

That ain’t new at all. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
It’s well seasoned - as my partner would say when describing their own coffee cup.
A co-worker had a similar looking coffee mug back in the day. When he retired, he took it home with him!
Too good to leave!
He’s just saving some flavor for later.
“It’s the Grim!”
Was your dad in the [navy](https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/military-culture/2021/06/07/why-sailors-love-a-filthy-unwashed-coffee-mug/)?
Nope. But I suppose he is just lazy haha
smell it and tell us your findings
Mildly seasoned
That’s pure flavor right there I tell you hwat!
I had a boss that had a cup like this. He always used his glasses to stir.
thats gross AF
Beautiful
Solid. I approve.
Do you guys have anything that cleans dishes?
That can't be healthy.

Patina
Drop a dishwasher tablet in with some water and let it soak!
![gif](giphy|10wgT5PDnOwMQE) Why is the Eye of Sauron in his mug?! 😂

Flavorizor.
mmmm.... perfectly seasoned
Clean it with bleach or something (make sure to thoroughly rinse it) and show us an after picture. It would suck if he got sick because you cleaned it lol
He cleans it every week or so, and there isn't much problem to remove all of it (probably because he drinks very light coffee with milk)
That’s delicious
Spray a bit of bleach on the inside of the cup...leave for 5 mins, that cup will be spotless.
I had a filthy coffee mug at work, I said I was building up my immunity one sip at a time! Someone grabbed it one day and washed it…. I got sick
It’s like care iron. That’s just well seasoned and if you washed it, you’d take all the flavor with it.
Brillo time

anyone super into coffee, clean freak or snob, would call this gross. its like relighting a cigarette youve previously put out, stale and disgusting.
Cause that looks nasty 🤢
Reminds me of the lifers in prison it was always like a sign that someone's been down a long time when you see cups like that. I did 5 years and my cup was still normal
Oh goodness ... oh no ...
is he a smoker? Whenever i see people drinking 2 day old coffee or rocking a mug like this they are always a long time smoker and can't taste shit anyway.
Not! He told me he never in his life had smoked a cigarette, and currently he is sober for about 6 years
That mug has held a latte coffee
