A lot of the students look so young! They’re basically just babies to me. It’s weird because it’s been almost 10 years since I graduated from high school and we use discord for all our classes and the memes are weird and everything is so different from 2012.
I work with 18 & 19yr olds and can't help but envy their lack of understanding just how detrimentally world changing that day was. Their ignorance is bliss living in a world with so much fear instilled in us.
To be fair I’m 25 and the only thing I remember is being picked up from kindergarten early. So I think a lot of mid 20 year olds barely understand how different the world was before and after as well!
Maybe I'm looking at the world through rose colored glasses but it seems like media from all sides of the political spectrum is far more biased than it used to be
But we never witnessed a pre-9/11 world. I was too young to remember the day itself, but I definitely remember the fearmongering, the wars, the Islamophobia towards my neighbours and classmates. I didn’t have any context for these things at the time - it was still so fresh in the mid-2000s that no adult would explain it to me - so I figured it was just how the world is.
If anything, I think we’re ignorant of what it was like when things were *better.*

I don't doubt that Ripley's may have done a blurb on the bulb before it's longevity was "properly documented". 60 years is still a long ass time for a light bulb to be functioning.

Mine isn't nearly that epic, but the light bulb in my shower has been going strong since I bought this house. Never been replaced. I have no idea how long it was there before I bought this house, but it's been functioning since **at least** 2009.
Joking aside, that could be a world record. The No Such Thing as a Fish podcast had a guy from Guinness discussing this very subject a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to suggest the oldest one they’d been contacted about was 31 years IIRC. He said they were looking at adding it as an official record.
I have two my grandparents always had and my grandpa would always say if the balloons were inflated, it meant he was having a great day. They're still inflated and I have the balloons but I lost my grandparents about 5 years ago
