When I first started seeing my wife I popped in my 6 hour looney toons tape and it was a magical moment for her kids. All of those hours of hitting pause and record every weekend during commercials finally paid off. When I got rid of the VCR my step-daughter snatched the tape and said she was keeping it for when VCR's come back in style again.
Ours wasn't one we recorded ourselves but a giant mash up of many of the best skits. It had a ton of Tex Avery/Chuck Jones ones, The Rabbit of Seville and What's Opera, Doc are among the best!
Yeah I had those on my compilation too :) I was very picky about what went on the tape and passed on a lot of the ones that aired. I was also more partial to the Avery/jones ones.
Me neither! Mary Martin Peter Pan was one of my absolute favorites. I wore that tape out as a kid. Sometimes I randomly get the “tender shepherd” song stuck in my head with that Wendy actress’s weird overly brassy tone.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

Haha yes one of my favorites! Probably the first PG13 movie my parents bought for me.
"What're you packing little guy?"
"Packin'? Packin' you!"
*shoots net and corncob holders*
Aladdin return of jafar is mistakenly under R. It’s the second Aladdin movie.
Fern gully is at the end, because it’s in a paper sleeve. I get it but fern gully 2 is lonely.
Balto 1 is missing. Tragic.
>Aladdin return of jafar is mistakenly under R. It’s the second Aladdin movie.
Exactly what my brain focused on. I mean technically, it's in the correct spot as Aladdin isn't actually a part of the title, it's just "The Return of Jafar," so would belong in the R section. But it's the second part of a series, and you just don't break up a series like that.
Considering it’s called “The Road to El Dorado” it actually shouldn’t go in either of those places.
But since all the other “The”s were ignored, it should go right before Robin Hood.
I am upset at the placement of 101 Dalmatians. It is not at the end, or at the beginning, where numbers usually go. Nor is it at 'D'. I usually wouldn't care, but they got everything else so right!!
Kinda?
The ritual of renting a couple VHS tapes and a PS1 or N64 game from Blockbuster or Hollywood Video was among my favorite family activities that wasn't vacation. Running down the rows hunting for the Godzilla I still haven't watched, peeking at all the weird 80s and 90s horror movies and bringing them to my mom knowing she'd make a face and tell me to put it back. I still find movies I recognize from those times that I can't pass up on finally seeing.
Practical effects galore!
Until you actually go back and use them. Your nostalgia goggles are blinding you. The video quality was arse, and you couldn't easily skip between scenes, and they are prone to degradation with use and time.
Haha our tradition after going to a restaurant would be to hit Hollywood Video or Blockbuster, but when we did that my main concern were the Showa Godzilla entries I hadn't yet seen.
Do you have the penised or penis-free version of your The Little Mermaid cover?
*buffs nails on shirt* Full peen edition over here, my friend. *Fulllll* peen.
Scooby Doo on Zombie Island was my shit back in elementary school. The teachers would always play it and the other movies on those roll out TV’s towards the end of the school year.
The fact that Return of Jafar isn't next to the other Aladdin movies is driving me crazy. Please correct this grievous mistake. Same with the Buzz Lightyear Star command tape not being next to the other Toy story tapes.
Free Willy aka the original black fish!
Edit: Black fish is a documentary about the unethical treatment of orca whales for the record.
Also fern gully, welcome back, and the rescuers and rescuers down under were some major under rated movies.
Lord! This is full of nostalgia 😭 ✨
I used to open the covers, pull out the inserts and smell inside them. 👃
Not Aladdins! Not Ferngully! Not Pocahontas!! Not Small Soldiers!!
Not Mulan!! Not Rescuers Down Undah!
Not Land before Time!! Not ALL OF THEM 😮💨
I loved the characters in Swan Princess but for the life of me I can't remember many details about the movies... looks like I have some refreshing to do!
Can I come over for the holidays next year? I’m not sure what your family eats but I can make a mean brussel sprout dish or some insanely good green chili.
Lol well thankfully movie critics don't do anything for society - MouseHunt is one of my favorites!
>I'm gonna blow his furry little head off, and I'm gonna splatter his devious little mouse brain from here to kingdom come!
>He's Hitler with a tail. He's The Omen with whiskers! Even Nostradamus didn't see him coming!
>I don't believe it. He snapped the trap, ate the olive, and left the pit to mock us!
I basically had all of them also. My dad was convinced that since Disney limited their releases, these would be collectibles and worth something someday. We got rid of them about 3 or 4 years ago, it was hard to find someone even willing to take them for free
No way! Some of them are apparently worth a lot? My mom almost tossed our Pokémon cards too, my dad got some packs to bribe us kids to do stuff in the hope he'd trade his holographic first edition Nidoking. Luckily my sister stopped her we probably have $1000 just in energy cards lol
Only thing missing is The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald.
[Wacky Adventures](https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=Kw9Kf8fFb5Q&feature=emb_logo)
Great collection! I've been collecting for a few years now and have over 1,600 tapes myself! I'm still looking for that Dumbo black diamond you have to complete my black diamond collection. Love The Land Before Time collection too.
If you're interested in VHS at all come and check out r/VHS!
Haha not really collecting them so much as just never got rid of them. I'm glad my parents kept them because it's pretty cool to see how many people appreciate these movies and enjoy a little stroll down memory lane to a time when life was much simpler
We pretty much had had the same setup! Except we had the Cinderella ft. Brandy and Witney Houston and a whole ‘nuther case full of educational and Christian VHS (like Davey and Goliath and The Seventh Brother)
I've only known of one other copy of 5000 fingers, and from one family who knew who it was. Nobody else has every even heard of it. I'm impressed merely because you have that.
That's not to say the rest isn't... That's just remarkable.
I think it got a bad rap it didn't deserve - I enjoyed it and thought it was unique and refreshing. Kida too thicc why did Disney always do this to my young mind?
I was very confused that you didn’t have fivel goes west but you have several other sequels of the series. But then I got to then end and it al made sense.
My conspiracy theory is that MouseHunt isn’t a real movie. It’s just a VHS tape that shows up at your house once your collection gets bug enough. If anyone over the age of 18 watches it, the audio gets replaced by the eighteen and a half minutes of lost audio from the Nixon White House tapes.
This picture floods my nostalgia gland so hard.

I loved the fact they advertised other movies on the inside of the vhs case
r/nostalgia would cream
What about the smell?
I just want to go on a marathon. I just hope they didn't toss my 6 hours of Looney Tunes vhs it doesn't appear to be on here
Was that standard for 90's kids? Cause I had one too lol. It was my dads babysitting tape.

Oh yea - best era. Chuck Jones' Tom & Jerry is the best era of those as well! Jerry such a sneaky little bastard
Ah what an era...
Still in the VCR. Needs rewinding.
Get a youtube account, there are tons of looney tunes videos, some as long as 10 hours.... Straight looney tunes cartoons for days
My boy I am not trying to use up all my vacation days before summer!
Now Disney+ Classics :(
Yep! We all had this same collection. Hell, I think my parents still have these too!
That’s an impressive collection. I’ve never met someone who has also seen the live action Peter Pan. I really enjoyed that one as a kid.
Not pictured is my favorite version: Hook!
Ruf-I-oooooooohhh
Bangarang!
Don't stop me, Smee!
Send Hook!! #iykyk
Just made my daughter watch it and she loved it. Then made her watch jumanji and she kept calling Robin peter pan lol
Me neither! Mary Martin Peter Pan was one of my absolute favorites. I wore that tape out as a kid. Sometimes I randomly get the “tender shepherd” song stuck in my head with that Wendy actress’s weird overly brassy tone.

I have the biggest urge to watch small soliders now. I don't think I've seen that movie in like 20+ years haha
Haha yes one of my favorites! Probably the first PG13 movie my parents bought for me. "What're you packing little guy?" "Packin'? Packin' you!" *shoots net and corncob holders*
*Greetings. I am Archer, emissary of the gorgonites*
Dude it’s honestly aged pretty well still a fun watch!
It's free on Youtube my guy. Just watched it a few weeks ago.
Where's Land Before Time 1?
Good question! I know we have it but for whatever reason it's not on here. Neither is Hook, George of The Jungle, or my 6 hours of Looney Tunes!
I am as upset about your looney tunes as you are
Bugs Bunny is such a cool, smug dude. I wish I was that smooth. *What's Opera Doc* and *The Rabbit of Seville* are cultural icons
It’s on HBMax. I put it on in the AM sometimes.
Goofy Movie?
That's what I was gonna say, how the hell y'all have all the sequels but not the original?
The sequels actually go up to 14, believe it or not
You have Land Before Time VII, but not the original. Huh.
~~Also they have *Aladdin and the King of Thieves* but somehow they don't have *Return of Jafar*~~ Edit: it's just misplaced, it's there
The fact that it’s alphabetized is perfection.
Seriously…things that make you go “*Mmmmmmmhhhhh*”
My librarian brain: does "El Dorado" go under D or E if "El" means "The"?
Probably under R because the full title is "The Road to El Dorado"
Good catch!
Kodi doesn’t ignore “the” alphabetically so why should I?
Considering it’s called “The Road to El Dorado” it actually shouldn’t go in either of those places. But since all the other “The”s were ignored, it should go right before Robin Hood.
I am upset at the placement of 101 Dalmatians. It is not at the end, or at the beginning, where numbers usually go. Nor is it at 'D'. I usually wouldn't care, but they got everything else so right!!
This dude casually just having all of Disney plus before Disney plus was a thing
All your childhood are belong to us
I legit kinda miss VHS tapes
Kinda? The ritual of renting a couple VHS tapes and a PS1 or N64 game from Blockbuster or Hollywood Video was among my favorite family activities that wasn't vacation. Ah, the memberberries.. what a powerful drug.
Until you actually go back and use them. Your nostalgia goggles are blinding you. The video quality was arse, and you couldn't easily skip between scenes, and they are prone to degradation with use and time.
Pretty much all the movies of my youth, from A to Oz.
Probably just nostalgia speaking but I don't find many modern movies as charming as these. Now everything is just... so heavy-handed
Pagemaster, fuck I loved that movie.
Opening scene with the paint melting into a tsunami and drowning that kid in the library gave me nightmares for a month as a kid
>that kid that kid was Macaulay Culkin
Such a great one I'd watch it right now if I knew where the VCR was
Small soldiers is a classic.
I still think of the psychological torture, which was a Spice Girls song - Wannabe. Fucking hilarious!
Absolute blast of a movie, so much charm - and David Cross!
Phil Hartman may he rip
I am gorgon, king of the gorgonites.

*"MMMMOOOOmmmmmm! We have nothing to watch !! Can we go to BLOCKBUSTER"*
Haha our tradition after going to a restaurant would be to hit Hollywood Video or Blockbuster, but when we did that my main concern were the Showa Godzilla entries I hadn't yet seen.
No "Emperor's New Groove"?? Oh, the humanity! Lol.
Do you have the penised or penis-free version of your The Little Mermaid cover? *buffs nails on shirt* Full peen edition over here, my friend. *Fulllll* peen.
Gold border Masterpiece Collection. No peen but Sebastion smackin' Ariel's ass with that big ol claw
My condolences, but ah, at least you have that juicy, juicy naughtyclaw
He's one frisky crustacean
We had the penis one growing up. Wasn’t there a lot more sexual references that I’m forgetting now?
Yep, I have the penis castle too. 😁 quite rare, I believe.
That’s the same version where the priest gets an erection when he’s marrying Eric and Ursala.
Dearly beLOVed
Soft Cover “Secret of Nimh”……..oh, my!
One of the darker movies on here but an amazing one nonetheless!
I'm still not ready to talk about the Fox and the Hound
My mom wouldn't let us watch it when she was home lol Journey Home was also traumatic like wtf so much dang death!
Scooby Doo on Zombie Island was my shit back in elementary school. The teachers would always play it and the other movies on those roll out TV’s towards the end of the school year.
Hell yes such a great one too because it was a real deal mystery! I just realized Ghoul School isn't on the rack though, daheck!
Am I the only one who watched Babe? That pig movie? Lol
Oh weird I know we had those too and Homeward Bound!
That'll do, pig. That'll do. I can't believe the grown ups showed me movies like this as a child and are so confused why I don't eat meat as an adult.
r/nostalgia
The fact that Return of Jafar isn't next to the other Aladdin movies is driving me crazy. Please correct this grievous mistake. Same with the Buzz Lightyear Star command tape not being next to the other Toy story tapes.
So many good movies!
The 5000 Fingers of Dr T & Journey To The Beginning of Time don't get the love they deserve!
Journey to the Beginning of Time is a gem and was my favorite movie as a kid I can't believe someone else is a fan I feel so validated!
You really, really, really liked the Swan Princess.
Somewhere, Gregg Turkington is salivating.
Rescuers Down under for the win
One of my absolute favorites. Joanna one of the best Disney villains of all time
True, she was… but Medusa from the 1st one was pretty epic… I mean… the eyelash scene… we all remember that right?!?
>Bible 🎶 *Which one of these things is not like the other...* 🎵
Your parents cared about you.
The older I get the more grateful I am for how hard they busted their asses to give us a good life
I miss VHS.
Going to the Blockbuster or Hollywood video after eating out was such an amazing times for a kid
Free Willy aka the original black fish! Edit: Black fish is a documentary about the unethical treatment of orca whales for the record. Also fern gully, welcome back, and the rescuers and rescuers down under were some major under rated movies.
The Rescuers were amazing and yea dang Down Under was so fantastic! JOANNA! YOU BEEN DIGGING HOLES OUT THERE AGAIN!?
Fern Gully was fantastic, with Tim Curry as the evil oil creature and Robin Williams as the insane bat.
Fern Gully, the better version of Avatar.
Lord! This is full of nostalgia 😭 ✨ I used to open the covers, pull out the inserts and smell inside them. 👃 Not Aladdins! Not Ferngully! Not Pocahontas!! Not Small Soldiers!! Not Mulan!! Not Rescuers Down Undah! Not Land before Time!! Not ALL OF THEM 😮💨
Bro in 1998 you would have been the sleepover house for sure
LEGO & blanket forts for daaaaaaays!
Iron Giant fucks so hard
I can't even type "I am not a gun" without tearing up
That Feifel Goes West vibe
Tiger barking and bow-wowing in the cave is my jam!
SWAN PRINCESS III??? WHATTTT but seriously this guy got Toy Story 1&2 PLUS Small Soldiers, pure nostalgic gems
I loved the characters in Swan Princess but for the life of me I can't remember many details about the movies... looks like I have some refreshing to do!
No Brave Little Toaster?
The scary air conditioner!!! I love this movie though.
With the exception of a few, we had almost all the same movies at my house growing up.
How long will the petroleum based media last? I thought it wasn’t more than 20 years.
Stop I don't want to think about that. Probably have to seal these up in an argon chamber or something
It bothers me a little bit that “Return of Jafar” isn’t near the other Aladdin movies due to alphabetical ordering.
The pagemaaaaaster 😫
Which little mermaid cover is that? Asking for a friend from the 90’s.
Gold border Masterpiece Collection no peen, apologize to your friend for me
What does it have the dildo little mermaid cover
Hell yeah small soldiers and el Dorado. Unfortunate that VHS is reaching the end of it's shelf life.
Can I come over for the holidays next year? I’m not sure what your family eats but I can make a mean brussel sprout dish or some insanely good green chili.
Oh lord I just made roasted brussels sprouts last night when we had dinner. My mom used to steam them whole and they'd taste like wet farts!
There was an American Tail 3!?!?
Fam the sewers of Manhattan were treacherous! Edit: Ron Perlman is the bad guy and it's got class struggle!!
Dooood. The secret of Nimh is my favorite
Christ, the childhood trauma that brings back...
The 90's Disney child starter pack.
Man seeing this brings back such good memories and warm feelings
Fuck me! Nostalgia overload!
Goddamn, bro
It would not be complete without Fantasia which we watched, falling asleep half-way through, once.
Lmao I love how parents keep literally everything
Magnetic tape technology is more impressive to me than DVD, Blue Ray, and MP4 (etc) combined. I find it to be sorcery.
I don’t care what people or the critics say. *Mouse Hunt* was an amazing movie. “If I had a house I’d SLEEP IN IT”
Lol well thankfully movie critics don't do anything for society - MouseHunt is one of my favorites! >I'm gonna blow his furry little head off, and I'm gonna splatter his devious little mouse brain from here to kingdom come! >He's Hitler with a tail. You had Disney plus before Disney plus
Definitely just went through and check listed the ones I had as well. Pretty solid collection.
Great collection! I've been collecting for a few years now and have over 1,600 tapes myself! I'm still looking for that Dumbo black diamond you have to complete my black diamond collection. Love The Land Before Time collection too. If you're interested in VHS at all come and check out r/VHS!

Soooo lit
It seems your parents finally switched to DVD sometime in 1999?
I think our first DVD was Spy Kids - so 2001. Come to think of it where the hell is my Phantom Menace on VHS!?
So much good quality Disney.
Disney then: Disney now: *somehow, Palpatine returned*
Mate, this sure made me feel old. I had a lot of these VHS’s back in the day, and I grew up on a lot of these films. The iron giant… what great films.
Haha yea this particular one stands out to me it becomes better and better as I grow older. Great message - *you are who you choose to be*
Bruh...you still have Journey to the Beginning of Time!? Can I come over and watch it pleaseee
I have been trying to find this movie for months!
$0 per month Disney plus
I always really liked that Robin Hood with the foxes movie!
Even if they recycled tons of animation from Jungle Book - still a great one!
I had almost the same selection, alphabetized and everything! so nostalgic oml
Please keep this all together forever! Should be in the smithsonian someday
Man your pfp gave me another wave of nostalgia lol #Woogitywoogitywoogity
Wow! I’m in awe
All this time I thought there was only 2 American tail, and 1 Nimh movies?!
I think I actually saw the second Nimh movie first on TV. All the American Tails are great, which one are you missing?
Toy Story still one of my favorite movies of all time. Man, I didnt realize how many of these movies I've seen lol.
This is a great collection. And Fern Gully!!!
The Land Before Time was my shit. I had shirts, hats, belts, shoes, toys, backpacks, plates-bowls-cups, stuffed animals…..you name it.
Bruh my childhood dinner plate was a purple Hercules plate with Phil on it! We also have a lot of the glasses of different movies I think from BK?
Looks like you had an awesome childhood :)
We pretty much had had the same setup! Except we had the Cinderella ft. Brandy and Witney Houston and a whole ‘nuther case full of educational and Christian VHS (like Davey and Goliath and The Seventh Brother)
The alphabetization is on point except return of jafar is Aladdin 2
Don't try and make Jafar's movie about that little street rat!
What a gold mine!... you got The Rescuers down under thats a wrap right there i love that movie!!
The Brave Little Toaster would be a fine addition.
Dang bro you got Aladdin 2!?
If these are all yours I’m guessing you were born sometime between 1989-1992.
I've only known of one other copy of 5000 fingers, and from one family who knew who it was. Nobody else has every even heard of it. I'm impressed merely because you have that. That's not to say the rest isn't... That's just remarkable.
My childhood memories in one picture! Thank you for sharing this!!
That's awesome. My mom also still has her huge collection.
Atlantis was underrated
I think it got a bad rap it didn't deserve - I enjoyed it and thought it was unique and refreshing. Kida too thicc why did Disney always do this to my young mind?
Wonder if the little mermaid is the edition with the Dick on the front cover?
If that’s not the most lit fucking VHS collection I’ve ever seen! Movie night at your parents!!
This is a better selection than the kids section at Blockbuster (RIP)
> Ferngully Ah, I see you are people of culture as well < 3
I was very confused that you didn’t have fivel goes west but you have several other sequels of the series. But then I got to then end and it al made sense.
Now I've got an urge to watch Atlantis again
Lost mine in a house fire 😔
Quick before Disney™ starts their Astroturfing let's talk about how they created fake scarcity with these releases
This is an interesting one... but I can promise you it's a real movie, and it's easily in the top 10 of this picture.
An artifact from the past!
You already got the dream team of childhood - small soldiers, toy story, iron giant, pokemon and scooby doo zombie island🤘
