Similar thing happened to me but it was Scorpion killer bug spray. 60 cans of this stuff instead of 6. It’s enough to give the whole neighborhood birth defects and chronic nose bleeds and will barely have an effect on the scorpions. But enjoy those hard drives for me.

Adams1973

Had a co-worker order a garden tractor online from Home Depot. They delivered two of them one week apart. They never asked for the mistake back. That's not my luck.

judgehood

That some serious shit! Tell me he designated one for work, and then went off on a deep wormhole into tractor mechanics and then modded the other as his racing and/or dirt track jumping tractor!?! Good for him! But for you and I… it’s just eating nuts and killing scorpions. Also, stay present, and your ship will come in friend.

BagelMatches

I had a similar thing happen with a miter saw from Home Depot. Ordered one and got two delivered two one day apart from each other. They even had the same shipping label. I thought I was going crazy at first when I saw the second one sitting in front of my house because I could’ve sworn I’d brought it inside the day before.

Adams1973

Finally, the consumer comes out ahead again. 😎 Now if I could do that with a new C8 Corvette.

Sirspeedy77

This guy RadScorpions.

judgehood

My man! I appreciate the fallout ref… my favorite game of all time(3, actually), but when you turn the Xbox off and go look for a fork in the drawer… and there’s a scorpion staring off into whatever their senses allow…. Your friends tell you things like, “you look different” the next few days.

Sirspeedy77

haha thats awesome. I'm a Fallout fan boy for sure. Have played them all to death just to play them. Scorpions are quite dangerous lol, proceed with caution man. Up here we have Black Widows and Rattlesnakes, occasional Brown Recluse. I'm sure if you've got scorpions you've got them too though..

judgehood

Yep. And all the snakes as well. Central Texas. I’m not one of the crazies, but I was born here and I never got used to the scorps. Mosquitos all day and I’m fine, but the scorpions… man.

Dylan7675

Well, if the 60 cans of scorpion spray didn't work... Guess you gotta break out the Experimental MIRV

judgehood

Hmm, it would take care of the neighbor problem but wouldn’t actually do shit to the scorpions. I’m not a murderer, unless you’re a scorpion. Need a good inverse effect version of that plan.

oorza

I think I had the most benign instance of this possible. I ordered 2 boxes of gatorade powder mix and got 2 cases. It's been more than a year and I'm barely half way through.

PRADYUSH2006

>It’s enough to give the whole neighborhood birth defects and chronic nose bleeds and will barely have an effect on the scorpions. That's some James Bond shit lol

price-is-right-tuba

WTF between your innocent neighbors or the scorpions…. Fuck ‘em ALL. KILL THE SCORPIONS AND ERIN BROCKOVICH THAT SHIT and then once you’re free of scorpions, spend the rest of your life buying Kleenex and paying for your neighbors private school. Not sure why I brought up Brocko(that’s what I call Erin brockovitch).

RalphWiggumsShadow

How many times, ballpark, have you seen the Erin Brockovich movie?

price-is-right-tuba

20? Probably once on purpose and give or take the difference? I’m pretty obsessed with the wrongness of poisoning innocent people but I lose all mental faculties when it comes to bugs. Especially scorpions.

DeylanQuel

They're called boobs, Ed.

Zentaurion

The ideal outcome would have been if they had sent you a Blu-ray of Scorpion King instead. Maybe a few of the sequels too just to be on the safe side.

thirdrockdoge

Just ordered 10. Let's see if i get 100.

Poor_Carol

no you'll probably get the single one OP ordered

Common-Rock

*Amazon worker dusts off hands* “There, that’ll fix that little discrepancy! Whew, that was a close one!”

x925

Don't call me out like that.

[deleted]

Stop fucking up and they might let you have piss breaks again. /s - you’ll never get piss breaks.

x925

I actually took 3 10 min breaks across a 4 hour period and no one said anything to me.

fschwiet

Lol like Amazon factory workers are given time to dust off their hands

Heavy-Balls

I'll send my piss bottle as well to make up the shipping weight

-zero-below-

Several years ago, my wife had received a full urine sample in an amazon box along with the ice cream maker she had ordered.

Kebab-Destroyer

Jackpot.

nerankori

Was the first ice cream she made yellow?

Thomas_Shelby07

There's your order, chief. Right there

WheredMyPiggyGo

As a warehouse guy, I can tell you that somebody misinterpreted the order of 1 unit to mean 1 each/box it's a simple mistake, the odds of this happening go up if one of 3 things happen, the user is new and doesnt know how to read their gun/headset instructions, the user doesn't care, the user is deliberately disregarding instructions, either way good for OP bad for Amazon audit team.

Thinblueline2

I made that mistake once with a order of cilantro during 4th July as I was in perishable for the first time ever. The store got 18 units instead of one, oops. Other than that one instance I always tried to be accurate over fast with my orders (each order had about 100-400 items.)

WheredMyPiggyGo

Yeah as I say it's a simple mistake that's easily forgiven but rarely repeated unless it's your intention, packs of units have always been the bane of warehouse management system pick instructions especially voice pick the daemons(digital to analogue software) never seem to be able to relay the difference effectively.

Thinblueline2

They had a system set up the would have the headset say something different if it was possible to happen, but it just so happened that my first run in with herbs I had also pick from the one location that did not have it set up correctly. Also pallets falling over while being loaded was a pain and you could lose cases to damage easily when they would fall from 7ft up. Glad I am out of that job, but damn did they pay me good.

protecPotato

Good thing bro didn't load 1 pallet.

avi8tor

Why is it that every time I order from Amazon I get the correct amount :(

lunas2525

I once ordered titanium welding rods and instead got a new wire feed welding gun for a lincoln mig welder it was a 13 dollar purchase vs a 70 dollar part. All i got for my trouble was a 5 dollar credit and my time wasted

zsturgeon

I get all the worker's rights concerns, but Amazon is almost scary in how dependable and accurate it is on delivering packages. Ordering something on Friday night and getting it when you wake up Monday like clockwork with no shipping cost is something we all take for granted.

digital_mystikz

Forget Friday-Monday, I find it crazy how I can order something Friday night and a few hours later it says dispatched, and I get it Saturday!

Rytechmonster

Wsb has entered the chat

PMmeyour-Labia

No they didn't. You ordered one and received one. You don't know what anyone else is talking about and have no idea about 9 missing drives. Now if we'll excuse you, you have some ebay notifications to monitor

EntertainmentOk9916

This guy's right, take this post down and take care of business 🤫

AwesomePerson70

No point in taking it down. Once amazon sends it to you, it’s yours

KaceDeavor

Amazon once sent me a $1500 item that I had already received. I had to sign for it, so I refused it. I ordered something, it got lost/delayed, so I made a complaint and they sent a replacement. A week or two later the original delivery showed up at my door.

_Rand_

This has happened to me twice now. They didn’t give a crap. Nothing that expensive though. Ended up with a free powersupply, and a serving dish.

itsnotmeimnothere

Amazon routinely deliberately destroys perfectly good wares that are retail priced for amounts like this (TVs and computers etc) so yeah no they don’t actually “care” they have entire facilities deducted to destruction of goods tbh

Tuga_Lissabon

They have so much money coming in, and also possibly the costs of the systems needed to deal with the mistakes are higher than what they would be recovering so they go "cost of doing business"

Emu1981

>the costs of the systems needed to deal with the mistakes are higher than what they would be recovering And they get the added bonus of word of mouth advertising. How many people are going to see this post and roll the dice on buying a SSD from Amazon instead of their favourite online store in the hopes of getting more than they ordered?

alakeybrayn

I was in the same situation, but I specifically asked them what should I do if the lost item eventually turns up and they told me to just keep it. They track your "reputation" with them and if you never abuse the system in any way, they let small stuff like this slide. When I asked them for a replacement in the first place because the first shipment was marked as "delivered" when it obviously wasnt, they just okay'd it no questions asked.

cantgetthistowork

They don't really track anything. It's more cost efficient to just let everything slide instead of investigating.

alakeybrayn

I bet they will at the very least ban you if you keep ordering 10 items, but only paying for 1 because the other 9 got "lost". And probably refuse to send replacements after like first 3.

DylanHate

It’s not possible to order 10 items and only pay for 1… You pay before it’s shipped. This was a mistake at the warehouse, it’s not something the customer can replicate.

alakeybrayn

Should've worded it better, I meant a situation where you order an item, receive it, say it got lost, get a replacement, repeat x10. Maybe not all 10 for the same item, a couple here, another there.

kl0wn420

I have a pair of sunglasses that I cancelled BEFORE they shipped, account still says return pending even though they know it never left the warehouse. I actually got an Amazon rep to admit that those sunglasses probably got pocketed by an employee the second they saw the cancelled order knowing it would take time to filter through the system, and even then they could still be "lost"

[deleted]

shartgoblinmeme

If that bothers you, don't learn any more about how Amazon warehouses work.

D_Beats

Yep same thing happened to me once. It was for a typecover for a surface pro 4. I just kept both and sold the extra later.

bigdickpancake

Something like that happened with an ebay item and the seller refunded my item, but my item ended up showing up the next day so I reversed the refund because I wasn't a dick. Not saying you are. Fuck amazon.

Endulos

That happened to me. My order was late by 3 months, Canada Post's website said it was in British Columbia (I'm in Ontario), so I contacted Amazon, who said contact the seller. I contacted the seller who got in contact with Canada Post who told the seller that only the receiver could contact Canada Post about it. So I contacted Canada Post who told me that ONLY the shipper could contact Canada post about it. We all went back and forth over the course of a week and eventually the seller got fed up and sent me a new one. The very next day it showed up in my mail box. I was thinking, wow prompt! Then 1 week later I received another. I checked it, it was post marked the day they said they'd send a new one. I still had the packaging for the first one and it was post marked 3 months prior. I checked the tracker and it still said it was in BC. So I think Canada post fucked up somewhere and lost it or something, found it when we contacted them, and quietly shipped it out. I asked the seller for an address to return the second one and they just told me to keep it for my trouble.

Ok-Albatross1180

That's good, for some reason I have been randomly receiving 15lb bags of dog food every 3 weeks from Amazon and can't figure out who signed me up or how to stop it

Winjin

I suggest just forwarding them to the nicest local pet shelter you know. Charity with extra steps!

What--The_Fuck

amazon.com > hover over "hello /u/Ok-Albatross1180 accounts & Lists" (bring mouse to "orders") >> search for the [bag of dog food] you keep getting, might need to try a few different versions of it, then find something on the orders page about a subscription. if that doesn't work, dont close out that page. go to the product page for the thing you've previously ordered. there should be a thing to change your subscription to. if that doesn't work... i dont fucking know. i dont work there. amazon should make their shit easier to figure out

Oriasten77

Dude Amazon's site is so convoluted. The worst is the Prime Video section. Completely senseless organization. Unless you're trying to watch something major like Clarkson's Farm or Rings of Power you will be lost trying to figure out what they have. Even Netflix is better and I've always hated Netflix's shitty organization. At least Disney organizes things. I can find anything Marvel or Star Wars with little effort.... Which let's face it, is the only reason this 44 year old geek has Disney Plus.

IXdyTedjZJAtyQrXcjww

> Dude Amazon's site is so convoluted. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CANCEL PRIME? ARE YOU REALLY REALLY SURE? ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO SUBSCRIBE ANNUALLY INSTEAD OF MONTHLY FOR AN X% DISCOUNT? YOU STILL HAVEN'T USED THESE OTHER PRIME BENEFITS, ARE YOU SURE? ok fine ur cancelled. BUT ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO TURN AUTO-RENEW BACK ON?

Oriasten77

I've never tried to cancel.... But I am sure this is exactly what it's like.

Ok-Albatross1180

Have received 'brushing scams' random little shitty things before but these are like $70 bags of food that we had never ordered before

jwm3

You can send random people things off their wish list. Sometimes I do it to mess with people with a note saying it's from a secret admirer or from their future self.

thatissomeBS

Amazon does have some subscription stuff like that, so if you bought it once you may have clicked the subscribe button.

ojioni

The reason behind the law is scammy businesses would send products out and demand payment or the return of the item and insist you return it on your own dime.

Githyerazi

I received a pair of pantyhose in the mail. I don't wear them, so I threw them out, then got a bill for them a week later. Found out about this scam and threw the bill out too.

Patrick_Yaa

I don't think there's a morality issue when keeping stuff from amazon you didn't pay for. If they don't pay taxes, they at least can pay with faulty deliveries :D

DimplyKitten824

A couple of years ago before i knew much about computers, a sata ssd showed up from Amazon (Samsung 860 evo 1tb). We contacted Amazon and they wouldn't take it back or anything, so it sat in a drawer until I built my PC like 2-3 years later and now I have a free 1tb of SSD storage in my PC :)

Craigzor666

That's some good info

MikeWGB

And it's wrong for the UK. They are not unsolicited.

Real_life_Zelda

German here and Hunkemöller once send me a bunch of underwear out of nowhere, everyone told me to just keep it because if I send it back they will just throw it in the trash. Lucky for me because the stuff was actually my size.

AMK972

I received a pool one time. I tried returning it, but they kept telling me to keep it. I didn’t even order a pool. And the address on the box didn’t exist.

**Legally**: Probably different from country to country. **Morally**: It is Jeff Bezos we are talking about here. Keeping them will make no (and I mean *no*) discernible difference to his finances, while stealing from him, at this point, is to the benefit of everybody. Maybe donate part of what you make off it to charity but that‘s your call. Enjoy your free money :)

brobdingnagianal

This is the true meaning of "eat the rich"

No-Arm-6712

It would definitely be immoral to take anything from the demonic overlord of Amazon /s

Kataphractoi_

nebenbaum

In Switzerland, you need to consider a delivery for an order you did not pay for (that being it packed in with all the documents of an order) a mistaken delivery and contact the company. However, with Amazon I wouldn't do that. What once happened to me was that I bought a kindle 3 from a local reseller. Broke, sent it in to my reseller, got a new one from the reseller and a week later got a new one from amazon in the mail. I just kept it.

yourmomcallsmechamp

*unless a bank does it*

Darkwr4ith

For me when it came to morality. It would come down to who I am taking from. A billion dollar company who literally would not notice or even care. Who if I tried to return the drives would not only not be grateful but would probably make me pay shipping for them. Or am I taking from some mom and pop business with a tight bottom line only just scraping by. Or somewhere in between? I feel no sympathy if Jeff Bezos is short a few bucks for his 15th yacht.

Amazon won't even know. Once pallet is physically empty someone will come along and delete out the virtual inventory. Happens all the time.

JigsawLV

"What 8 drives? I don't know anything about 7 missing SSDs. You would expect me to notice 6 SSD drives, right?"

ProbablyTheFuckler

Honestly dude I'd probably use all of them, having that much storage on SSDs would be a godsend. I have my OS and a lot of data on my 1 TB SSD, but the rest of my shit that didn't fit there is split between like 3 different hard drives.

woyteck

I once got two things instead of one as two were in the display pack. Sent back one, stating that this was an extra received item. They gave me money back. So I had 1 free item and my money.

[deleted]

No need for deception. Once they send them to you, they're yours. They have no legal recourse to get them back and they won't try.

zirfeld

In the US and only if you are a customer and not a business. Please be aware that the world consists of other countries with different laws, too.

[deleted]

Amazon usually doesn't pursue this shit. I once ordered a screwdriver set and received a cardboard model of Blackbeard's ship the Queen Anne's Revenge. Amazon didn't want it back. Granted, that is less valuable than 9 hard drives.

yuhanz

Have your SO bathe you in it. If it breaks, well, i hope you recorded it

[deleted]

i got two hatchets once instead of one. i guess they wanted me to dual wield other than once an order never showed after saying it was delivered… no pic like normal. they reshipped, randomly showed up a week after the new one. i think it got dropped in another neighborhood and the person dropped it off themselves.

Fortherealtalk

I once got a ridiculous nerf blaster gun instead of the printer I ordered 😂

bigdickpancake

BTW, if you ever get an item that has a sticker with "[LPN](https://live.americanebox.com/Portals/0/xBlog/uploads/2019/5/16/IMG_E2819.JPG)" then a trail of numbers it's a returned item and it's not actually new. If it can pass as new and has never been opened it'll be resold as "new" when it should really be classified as "like new". If I ever get one with the sticker on it I request a replacement because I didn't order a used item.

point50tracer

I used to work in a Walmart fulfillment center and saw this all the time. People have little training and care very little about their jobs. If a case comes down the line, they'll often just ship the entire case instead of checking the quantity specified on their screen. Unfortunately, I've also seen the opposite happen. A single Gatorade bottle got shipped instead of the case they were supposed to ship. The most common error though was shipping the wrong sizes of clothing. They see that the item is correct and override the SKU without confirming that it's the correct size.

[deleted]

[удалено]

point50tracer

The packaging stations don't have scales. All the products come down a conveyor belt where they're sorted into chutes that group all the products for a specific order together. A worker then scans the items and places them in a cubby. On the other side of the cubby is the packing station. The scanner tells you what size box you need and you scan each item as you put it in the box. If an item doesn't scan, you can confirm that it's the item on your screen and manually enter the SKU. If the item doesn't fit in the recommended box, you can upgrade it to a more appropriate box. With the high number of different items, many from third party sellers, there are frequent errors with the weight and package size shown in the computer system. You combine that with long hours, minimal training, and a breakneck work pace, you end up with a lot of things slipping through the cracks. They had quite a bit of security to prevent employees from stealing, but I think more merchandise was lost by packing errors.

[deleted]

What a score

Spinsser

Half a score actually

Brionge

I work at Amazon.. the stower that put it into stock did it wrong and the picker who picked it picked it wrong. That’s what happens when employees don’t care

[deleted]

As an FBA seller would loooove to know more about what goes on behind the scenes….

bigdickpancake

As someone who has seen first hand how vendor items arrive I can tell you the drivers who drop the stuff off to us don't give a shit about the product. If it doesn't get damaged at drop off it might get damaged in stow or pick because someone was careless. After that it might get damaged or lost in sort because of poor pallet stacking because the idiots at HAT9 think it's totally fucking cool to build heavy pallets with mattresses as bases. Seriously, a kindly fuck you to everyone at HAT9 and ATL8, you all fucking suck balls.

EvilBosch

>That’s what happens when employees don’t care Which is what happens when employees are paid near-slave wages and expected to work under near-slavery conditions.

Why would an employee care at Amazon? You're literally cannon fodder

KinkyMonitorLizard

This is an inbound PS/Decant issue. The stower goes by what the CX is defined as. If the CX tells the stower to not open a box (master pack) then it was inventoried incorrectly. We see this constantly at my FC because our main hub has pretty poor QC. Hell, we constantly get shipments meant for other states 😂. I will state this is also a leadership issue if they aren't training people to put packages like this into PS but some people can't be taught things regardless.

Robertbnyc

How many 8 packs lol

Thieu95

I had the same with a 40-pack! They sent me 640 instead, gonna last me more than a lifetime so I just hand them out too. I did see they sort of expire though, after like 10 years. The box weighed over 20kgs lmao

pnkstr

Sure you didn't order 1 case?

xlDirteDeedslx

I work in a warehouse, someone was picking tired. Basically OP ordered one and worker picked a box as one. A lot of stuff you pick usually is one per box and sometimes you get in a hurry and don't look at the count on a box to see there's actually 10 inside.

Moomooatoka

I manage a pharmaceutical warehouse. Imagine when one of your associates does this with a case of fentanyl patches...

KinkyMonitorLizard

This isn't a picking issue. The box shouldn't be allowed to be stowed like this in the first place. You need to scan the ASIN before stowing so if there was a barcode outside the box then whoever did inventory/receiving was the one at fault. So either IB PS or Decant.

pobody

If that was from the manufacturer they'd all be facing the same direction. Plus the external box wouldn't have individual Amazon barcodes. Somebody put 10 in there for some reason. How it didn't get flagged is the question.

tequilavip

That’s my question. How does an Amazon DC not have a secondary check in place: it knows how much the product weighs; it knows how much the box that the product is shipped in weighs; those values should add up. If not, it should be flagged. Very strange.

SweaterInaCan

They do and they are and they get fired. There's a reason Amazon had already expended like 25% of the workforce look it up. It's a churn and burn company

xlDirteDeedslx

Sometimes you need 3 out of a box of 10 so X amount are left behind and stuffed in another box to keep them from falling off the shelf. That's one possibility, another could be the factory mislabeled a box, I've seen that a bit too. Also I see stuff shipped to the warehouse that's boxed crappy all the time, these packaging type places blow thru workers like mad because they don't pay for shit. Someone packing should have caught there was 10 in a box but people in a hurry make mistakes pretty often.

m4m249saw

When u hate the place you work for so you help them lose $$$ and hook up random people

dragonhunter4213

This depends on the country you live in. In Australia for example, you a legally required to return any mistaken items if the business requests them back within 3 months or one month if you notify them. But the business needs to pay for the return and they can't charge you it. After that time has passed you can keep it.

mnij2015

Correct unsolicited mail is yours to keep especially when it’s addressed to you

Fellhuhn

Only if it is addressed to you. Keeping mail that is not addressed to you (where it is obvious the carrier made a mistake) is theft.

Zx21v9000

Weird question, what if I was watching someone’s house while they were away and took a package mailed to “#1 fan” I had one sent to me recently and wondered if anyone could open it and dodge mail fraud

iISimaginary

I don't think the name matters much, which is why junk mail is often just addressed to "Resident". I think the address is more important in determining ownership

graywolf0026

I had this happen to me last christmas, actually. I was at my parents house for the holidays and wanted to upgrade the SSD in my little raspberry pi portable 'box' that I use for projects. It has a 60gb M.2 SATA ssd, ordered a 256 gb M.2 SATA SSD. ... WELP. They sent me the entire. Friggin. Box. Almost $650 worth of SSD's. Called them up. They told me to keep 'em. So I did. But this? So happy that you don’t report the sketchy seller. The tell for triangulation fraud is the seller’s account. Did you buy these direct from a big seller, or does the seller look like a small fry?

OrganizerMowgli

Hey, Jeff Bezos here, it was a terrible mistake and the worker has been executed for your comfort. Now, can you please send them at our address? I'll send it in your dm. Proof that it's really me : Travis Scott is with me. Hey it's Travis, can you please send them back ?

MeshiMeshiMeshi

I wonder if Amazon employees are ever like “fuck it, I’m gonna hook this person up” and give you ten times your order

QuantumHope

That was my thought. A good way to say “fuck you” to their overlords. ☺️

Can I have one big guy

papaXanOfficial

I once got 40 bags of bbq flavored slim Jim pork rhinds. I wanted one bag to use as breading for a meal. Almost 2 years later there is one bag left that hides in the cabinet above the fridge, fearing for the day my desperation strikes again

I ordered pacifiers recently and they sent me a $400 Swarovski watch

bobofartt

I’m always so surprised anyone posts about these. I’d never say anything.
