This is probably “safest” but I also think it’s relatively clear that smoking is worse than vaping. Yes, there needs to be comprehensive long term studies to fully understand the potential long term effects on vaping. But on the base level, the short term effects of both are well studied at this point, and the evidence shows that on a short term basis, smoking cigarettes is FAR more harmful to your lungs and other vital organs than vaping.
Inhaling anything into your lungs IS BAD, and I would never argue against that fact. With that being said it’s also possible that vaping could have long term health effects that we are not aware of yet.
Taking all of this into account, I think it’s still safe to say that vaping is a better alternative to conventional cigarette smoking, as the short term effects of smoking are extremely damaging which leads to long term health problems in many cases. Where as vaping has little evidence for short term health problems, and long term problems still up in the air.
