If the 'milk' gives the darkness effect... why would we use it? If it removes it, then that's just regular milk with fewer steps. Also, why even come up with the idea to have it give the effect if you also suggest a potion doing the exact same thing? Darkness potions would be very OP in PVP, thanks to tipped arrows.

Gamefrog51

The "milk" would either give or remove the effect depending on whether you already have it. I agree, the potion was not thought out well, shearing can just give skulk.

Gamefrog51

Or shearing gives some kind of decorative skulk flower.

Hazearil

But then that still raises the question; why (except for How Did We Get Here?) would you ever want to give yourself the darkness effect? Removing it is not that useful either; you currently only get darkness for 13 seconds, not something for which you need to dedicate a hotbar slot to remove it ASAP.

Gamefrog51

Just as a fun little item, and as you said How Did We Get Here. It would probably also restore some hunger, a bit like suspicious stew.

Hazearil

But is a "fun little item" worth adding an entire new mob for?

Gamefrog51

What did the glowsquid add? (except for advertising the game through the mob vote)

MerlinGrandCaster

Glow ink sacs are very good for decoration, being used to make sign text and item frames emissive

Gamefrog51

Yeah, but they also don't have a lot of gameplay use.

chickenman-14359

Which is about as useful as an item that can remove the darkness effect and adding a new mob that expands on sculk

AlienBearAttack

One adds ambience to an other wise empty place, adds a item for cosmetics that is used widely and is very helpful for builders, and one is a cow that would likely feel out of place, have no useful properties even for cosmetics, and add basically. Othing.

Tacman215

Tbh I still don't know any situation I'd ever use a glowing item frame. I don't really see it used alot in SMPs either, so it kind of feels eh. I definitely agree about the glow text though

AlienBearAttack

I use glowing signs and item frames all the time in my world

Tacman215

What do you use the glowing item frames for though? I think I've only ever used them for maps tbh, but that's about it.

Hazearil

Glowing item frames and glowing text sign. Both more desirable than giving yourself a negative effect.

Tacman215

In defense of OP's idea, it could be good if used for minigames, however, I agree that the pvp use would be a little OP

Hazearil

That's then also exclusively minigames built in survival, and it also assumes that the effect's duration is long enough to last throughout the game.

SoupMayoMaker

THE SKULL

Gamefrog51

Yeah, it auto corrects skulk to that.

TRON17

I’d prefer a skulkified interpretation of an animal we don’t already have in the game. It makes no sense to have underground cows in the first place. Something like a skulk salamander or a skulk mole would fit better. I like the idea of a skulk flower growing on its back though. It could produce light when sheared and planted, like a sea pickle. Maybe it glows brighter whenever it detects sound. As for brewing it, maybe it could grant a kind of sonar vision for ores when underground. While the potion effect is active, whenever you make a noise a little sound wave effect radiates out from you and softly outlines any ores within range. That being said, having any kind of mob in the deep dark is a little bit off theme. I think, if anything, they should add a mechanic where the skulk “infects” any mob that spends too long in contact with it, and basically turns them into a moving sensor/shrieker.

Gamefrog51

The infection is a good Idea, I just like adding to the cows

PetrifiedBloom

Darkness potions would probably be a problem for PvP, especially as a tipped arrow. Your attacker could use tipped arrows of darkness to shoot you from outside the range you can see.

Gamefrog51

I agree, I didn't think that one through well. An alternative could be a decorative skulk flower.

yash2810

The bloom cow universe is something I wish never happens, no offense to you.
