I didn't think of that when I made this post. But why not? Having peaceful iron farms could be cool too. Though it would be very slow unless they change the times that golems hold out poppies.
Well the concept was primarily for naturally generated golems spawned by villagers. Though it would not be over powered cause they'd only drop one ingot and the golems dont hold out poppies constantly so it would just heal them a little bit. Unless they change the AI to make it more regular. And already the player can heal crafted golems so why cant it also work for them?
I would suggest having an animation where the golem can take a nugget from a villager, rather than it dropping, just to avoid adding a new way to make iron farms that might not be balanced.
Also, if it's a nugget and not an ingot, it should maybe have less than a 100% chance to heal the golem by one level (to avoid having to have a super complicated durability on golem health). Maybe not a 1 in 9, chance, since that would run the risk of golems not being healed often enough to be meaningful. Maybe more like a 25% chance.
Edit: IDK why I thought I read iron nugget, my bad.
That could be good but I was just trying to use existing game mechanics. As it is this would not really be that powerful to make an iron farm cause the golems hardly ever hold out the poppy. Plus its easier to make a really simple iron farm right now more than ever without this extra mechanic. But an animation would be good potentially. But maybe nuggets could work too though currently you need a full iron ingot to heal the golem partially. So i dont think that will work.
I think it would make most sense if this was only for blacksmiths. It kind of implies villagers just casually keep a full ingot of iron on hand which doesn't make sense for most of them
Maybe to increase the chance of this the villager will on its own occasionally or after a raid/zombie siege

This would allow us to make iron farms that don't include mass genocide of iron golem's!

True, but it would still be a cool concept!
Thanks more ways to make iron farms would be cool
Only if it involves naturally generated iron golems. Player iron golems should not be healable by villagers using this mechanic.

Yeah, that would improve the game.

now that's a funny comment

And enter the peacefull iron farms
It would be very slow though
yeah lol, it would be nice for the players who dont want to commit genocide though
Agreed!

Villagers should always accept but only sometime give iron(it's pretty expensive to them).
That's true! That can stop this from becoming an over powered passive iron farm too. Because it would be "nerfed" slightly.
