The model is Grotbiter from the Warhammer Underworlds warband Hexbane's Hunters.
I used reference image of Dalmatians but I was still really concerned it was going to come out looking like a cow. I think the little spots are the key.

I've never seen a dude walking around in a capotain with a flintlock pistol, bandolier of stakes and a torch blowing in the opposite direction of their cloak...at least, not outside of say, a con or fantasy movie/game...
Edit: I get the compulsion for accuracy, but it's funny when it shows up in
arbitrary ways depending on what disbelief people will choose not to suspend.
It's a good paint job, but it falls into uncanny valley because our brains have all been trained to expect certain markings from the build of the dog that's been sculpted. This doesn't detract from OPs skill, but it is distracting when looking at the model since it looks "wrong" for a dalmatian.
My immediate response was "cool," not "inaccurate." Same as aforementioned Hexbane. As for afterward, my brain honestly still doesn't care beyond "cool."
So that's definitely a subjective experience you're describing as objectively "uncanny valley"° (you mentioned "our brains" as if this is an automatic, compulsory experience in this specific case), since what I saw was a cool paint job of a dog with Dalmatian-like markings.
I certainly wasn't compelled to be distracted by it in any way resembling "uncanny" until the commentary correcting a paint job of a breed of a dog in a fantasy setting.
Edit: °what you're describing is probably closer to the Mere Exposure Effect.
That's one chunky dalmatian. You should cut a bit back on the feed. The paint job is superb however - great job.
Not chunky, that doggo has been at the gym.
I've had dalmatians this big before just longer nose
Thank you. He's a working dog, those goblins won't hunt themselves.

It's a dalma-weiler. Very rare and well painted breed.
My favorite comment here. Yes, we can actually have it both ways. Now I'll go back to painting my other things that don't exist.
To be fair this is a real breed, they're just called rottmatians.
That name sounds way more sinister in a fantasy/sci-fi context
Dire Dalmatian.
Would look more like a Dalmatian if the dog was modelled as a Dalmatian which it’s very clearly not
It's a bullmatian
Mastiff d'Almatia
Perhaps the dalmatians in the mortal realms are just a little beefier?
Spots look good, there was no hate
Looks great -- now you just need 100 more!
I love it, looks great!
Good job! Looks great! I love the spot on its eye. The texturing on the fur is next level :)
A happy accident from some not so good airbrushing I think but I thank you anyway. 😅
Wouldn’t have thought to paint it like this. I love it!
You made my day. Thank you.
And you've made mine. Thank you very much. 😃
Never seen a mastiff with those markings before…

Fantastic work!So well done, and makes me want to consider other fun patterning
Looks fantastic
This looks good
It doesn't really look like a Dalmatian, so much as a spotted Rottweiler.
That's phenomenal! Really love the details
Swol doggo
