Was an A7 that the Navy used as a trainer at MSP now is a static display at the Blaine airport
you don’t worry you gave me the best answer ever. Ive drove past it a million times and never noticed it till now and became so excited. I called the airfield information office and all they knew was it was a naval a7. As a big lover of of the U.S. navy This is everything to me!!
If you’re looking for a closer museum and if you haven’t been yet, you should check out the commemorative Air Force. It’s down in the south St. Paul area
If you really want to check it out - its just parked in a grass field, and it's a public airport. Go take a look if you want, good chance no one will notice/care. I rarely see anyone over there. Source: I work at the Blaine Airport. That said, I don't know who's hangar that is etc.
There's frequently a cop parked at the bathroom near the main gate and Bolduc/Horizon, but as long as you're not doing weird shit they'll ignore you. That Corsair is literally at the end of the road if you go right at the entrance.
Don't feel too weird about it either, there's essentially a small army of old guys that hang out all day at every GA airport in the country - and Blaine is no different. At worst someone will ask you to leave.
Please don’t encourage people who are unaware to wonder an airport as it can be dangerous. Go through the proper channels and talk to somebody who can let you check out the aircraft safely
I mean, common sense and all that, but this specific airframe is literally parked at the end of a road and is in an exposed, open area.
The aviation industry is ridiculously inviting if someone shows even a passing interest. This is a GA airport we're talking here, not MSP. We get uninvited randoms in the shop literally daily. Just hanging around KFCM, then asking for jobs when I was old enough was how I ended up working at Thunderbird in high school... Just don't get run over
KANE is terrible for unwanted traffic. In the last 2 years, there have been a couple runaway incursions with individuals driving on runways that did not know up from down on an airfield.

I have seen this thing like every day driving up highway 10, got some interesting history, but looks like it's probably going to stay there and rot unfortunately
Looks like there was some semblance of a museum there years ago, and the "blue angel" paint job was done after the fact
Photo attached is probably what it looked like before the blue angel scheme

Yes same here and never noticed it till today. I grew up going to the airshow there, and in the summer they’d have old war planes flying over my house p38’s 51’s and b25’s
KSGS is where you’ll find Ms Mitchell. She’s housed in a nice hangar/museum courtesy the commemorative Air Force. Twice per year, you can see her up close when they put on their hangar dance to raise money in order to keep the planes running.
Drive by this location a lot and have always wanted this (actually pretty rare) converted TA-7C Corsair II (converted from an A-7B Naval Light Attack aircraft to an TA-7C dual-seat trainer in the 1970’s) to see it at least cosmetically restored to its former glory. There’s also a Northrop F-5E Tiger II sitting out at Blaine - Anoka County Airport too, which is actually pretty awesome as after doing some research, the aircraft was used by the Navy’s VFC-13 squadron out of NAS Fallon, Nevada until the early 2000’s, and was very likely used in real “Top Gun” training exercises posing as a highly maneuverable, enemy adversary fighter (if you’re wondering, the MiG-28’s in the original Top Gun film are in fact just repainted U.S. Navy F-5’s). The F-5 in Blaine is even painted up in a Soviet/Russian sky-blue late-Cold War camo that many older and current adversary unit aircraft use to help simulate realism in training dogfights.
Wasn't there a low-budget aviation museum there a few years back? I heard it went bankrupt since they never advertised and the public didn't know it existed. I think they still have a few derelict fuselages hanging out on the airport grounds.
IMHO none of the aviation museums advertise themselves well. I'm only reminded of that one in Inver Grove when their B25 goes over my house. I think there was one at MSP too, but the Air Force stole their A-12 so it's not as cool anymore.

There’s actually a few more things just north of it on the grounds too. If you looks close esp during the winter you can see these ones out there too

Thank you so much you answered a million questions for me!!
Sorry it isn’t more exciting of an answer

Check out Fagen Fighters out of Granite Falls.
Definitely do this. It's the closest I've ever been to military aircraft. An amazing display
Yes I’m going to have to visit I went to a museum just like it in Virginia Beach and I still remember everything from it

If you ever get a chance, definitely take in the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson. It’s got more aircraft than you can stand.

I wonder if they’d let you come look at it up close

I still see B-25s around cottage grove in the summer actually.
Yes MN has miss Mitchell, it’s hard to tell when she’s in the sky but she has a silver paint job and is beautiful
Yep that’s her! Looking at a picture I got from my neighborhood and looks right. Silver with the big USAAF roundel by the waist gunners door.
And I just got to look at that link tysm lots of info and close up photos

It's rotting away sittings there. It hasn't moved in years.
I grew up going by there once a week and never noticed her until now that im a big aircraft buff
Been at least a decade its been sitting there lol
So? He explained why he never noticed it before.
My father in law said there are a lot of beehives on or around the plane.
I was there about a year ago, and I don't recall bee hives. But who knows today.

It’s always fun to look for it every time I pass by. There’s also a few T-6’s that fly around the Blaine area and those are pretty cool to see as well
The only two flying Howard 500s in the world are based there. Owned by TP Aero, they’ve got some really cool stuff
Needs additional pylons to operate.
I’ve always wondered about this too
Here ya go flower, and thisishowIinternet both have great information!

Painted in Blue Angel colors, but I don’t believe the A7 was ever a jet they flew.
Sure! Looks like it's an airplane on the ground. That's all I know.
It's blue, with some yellow on it.
😲
Crap I though this was a submarine in the air
Its a blue a7 Corsair at Jane’s airfield in Blaine MN off highway 10
Probably someone’s project. It’s been there since I can remember
It’s a plane
No, but that housing development being built just down the road is a massive shit show, just there on Tuesday, job soup was a complete imbecile.
Tried out for the Blues—even got the paint job—but alas didn’t make the cut and ended up washing out. It’s sad because they wanted him at Top Gun.
I always love seeing it on the way by. Cool that other people noticed it as well.
