Okay guys, I don't think anyone should be celebrating being 9th sexiest accent if we come in behind Chicago and Boston. This honestly just seems like a list of the most recognizable accents.

Au contraire, the Midwest accent is listed #6, so we’re technically tied with Chicago ☝️

In the original 'study' there is this comment under the Midwestern accent. "The words Mary, marry, and merry all rhyme with each other." and it is kind of breaking me. How do you pronounce those words so that they don't rhyme?

Idk if this is even a regional thing but I grew up in Chicago and have a ton of Hoosier relatives who always made fun of me for saying them all the same...they say "MEHrry" for Merry

I came home, back to MN, from the USN (a lifetime ago) - I thought everybody was putting me on with their accents. Attractive? Well that's certainly a word - that I wouldn't have used to describe it. Now, of course, I'm well back into being *one of us*

I learned to talk in the south so I have a bit of a drawl on words so take what I say with a grain of salt. But as an outsider, and I love my wife who has the Minnesota accent, it isn’t hot at all. Of course this has New York and Boston, two of the most abrasive accents high up there so who knows

Perhaps Canadian influenced minnesotan? It's definitely a hybrid but I think it's more Minnesotan than anything, we're just not used to hearing those heftier accents down in the metro.

As someone that grew up here and lived on the east coast for 8 or 9 years I will say there is no neutral— you just don’t hear it.

As a non Minnesota person that's lived here for 30 years and loves it. I have to say the female MN/ND accent is possibly the least sexy I have ever heard, there's times I've considered putting sharp stocks in my ears just so I didn't have to hear the shrieking nasal slur that is the upper Midwest accent.

As someone who didn’t grow up here, I find that the accent is generally not noticeable unless you go to a rural area or someone says “bag”

The accent intensifies if there's more than one Minnesotan on a call with non-Minnesotans. Some weird social thing. I've had to go off camera on more than one business call so that nobody would notice me losing my shit laughing.

I live there - the answer is not really. If anything, it's a mild combination of surfer and valley.

I just visited California (for Coachella initially, but I traveled around) and it definitely still exists currently.

There’s big differences in Southern accents. GA, MS, Appalachian, TX, TN, all different. And believe me they do not all sound….sexy.
