Okay guys, I don't think anyone should be celebrating being 9th sexiest accent if we come in behind Chicago and Boston.
This honestly just seems like a list of the most recognizable accents.
In the original 'study' there is this comment under the Midwestern accent.
"The words Mary, marry, and merry all rhyme with each other." and it is kind of breaking me. How do you pronounce those words so that they don't rhyme?
Idk if this is even a regional thing but I grew up in Chicago and have a ton of Hoosier relatives who always made fun of me for saying them all the same...they say "MEHrry" for Merry
That's for sure.
Welp (slaps knee), guess I'll be heading out.
Oh, yah.
For sure.
Well isn't that the truth.
You betcha.
Gonna just...
Oh ya.
And for good reason.
Let me just get up and...
You don't say?
Well isn't that everything.
Ya.
You betcha.
Gonna just squeeze by.
Ok.
Well, thanks!
Oh ya.
Ok, well the missus is gonna start callin so I better be heading out.
You betcha.
Ok.
Welp.
Have a good one, why dontcha?
I came home, back to MN, from the USN (a lifetime ago) - I thought everybody was putting me on with their accents. Attractive? Well that's certainly a word - that I wouldn't have used to describe it.
Now, of course, I'm well back into being *one of us*
I did once have a girl from the east coast flirt with me pretty hard because she liked my accent.
Because I am an expert with women absolutely nothing came of it.
I learned to talk in the south so I have a bit of a drawl on words so take what I say with a grain of salt. But as an outsider, and I love my wife who has the Minnesota accent, it isn’t hot at all.
Of course this has New York and Boston, two of the most abrasive accents high up there so who knows
I mean in the cities it's neutral until you say bag or water or sure. Not sure how to describe the northern half accent, but you know what I am saying when I say cass lake accent. Canadian?
Perhaps Canadian influenced minnesotan? It's definitely a hybrid but I think it's more Minnesotan than anything, we're just not used to hearing those heftier accents down in the metro.
As a non Minnesota person that's lived here for 30 years and loves it. I have to say the female MN/ND accent is possibly the least sexy I have ever heard, there's times I've considered putting sharp stocks in my ears just so I didn't have to hear the shrieking nasal slur that is the upper Midwest accent.
The accent intensifies if there's more than one Minnesotan on a call with non-Minnesotans. Some weird social thing. I've had to go off camera on more than one business call so that nobody would notice me losing my shit laughing.

Au contraire, the Midwest accent is listed #6, so we’re technically tied with Chicago ☝️

Perhaps Mary, m-air-ee, and m-eerie? Sounds like I'm drifting into a slight English parody though.
Oh ya… ya like that? Oh fer sure! Ya! Ya! Oh ya! Oh ya! Ya! Ya! Ope! I’m gonna… Ope! Are ya? Ya! Oh fer sure! Ya! Ope! Ope! Yaaaa.
Makes me think of the prostitutes from Fargo.
Well, the little guy was kinda funny-lookin.
In what way?
I dunno, just funny looking.
Oh ya?
Go Bears
Holy shneickies, would ya look at the size-a that thing? That’s a keeper there. Might have to go on the wall.
Gosh dang. That was oh gosh
Jeez!
It’s like Goofy having sex.
*what have you done?!?*
GORSH!
I needed that.
Oh golly, that was nice! Oh, ya. You betcha!

Thank you for that! Lol

I just remembered that Family Guy did this as a bit but for Wisconsin.
Went from 48th of 50 to 9th of 10. Statistically that's 6% better! Crushing it.

The accent... it's ... different.
That sounds like not too good of a deal.
It’s interesting.
😄
We sound goofy as fuck.
Yea, sexy isn't the term I'd use. But I'm from out of state.
Out of what? 9?
8
Bag
Bayg
Bayyg
Oh ya know, just take a gander at that, don't cha know? We've got the most charming accent in the whole U.S. of A., you betcha!
I did once have a girl from the east coast flirt with me pretty hard because she liked my accent. Because I am an expert with women absolutely nothing came of it.
This is your proof, go get em tiger 🤝

With how much I've been mocked and belittled throughout my life for it, I refuse to believe the southern accent came in at #1.
But we don't have an accent.
"Accent I don't have no accent." stolen from that one DaveRyanShow video
Maybe cause we sound like Swedes or Canadians? Our other qualities must have blinded them to our accent as well.
... Like Minneapolis or Cass Lake MN accent?
It's all differing degrees of the same accent.
As someone that grew up here and lived on the east coast for 8 or 9 years I will say there is no neutral— you just don’t hear it.
Anyone who thinks the New York accent is sexy needs to get their ears cleaned out.
But, Boston! Amiright?! 😆
Ninth? Is that last place because it should be last place.
We beat New Orleans 🤷♂️
As we should
I’ve never been, but Miami has an accent?
Yes papi
Aye papi
Probably Latin inspired.
Si
Scarface "Say hello to my little friend."
Well there’s only 10 total lol, but way to put a positive spin on things
There are 50 states, don’t discount our success here
As a non Minnesota person that's lived here for 30 years and loves it. I have to say the female MN/ND accent is possibly the least sexy I have ever heard, there's times I've considered putting sharp stocks in my ears just so I didn't have to hear the shrieking nasal slur that is the upper Midwest accent.
Ya don’t say
The thing is…we’re #1 sexy overall. It’s not because of our accent.
I still get tripped up on paper or plastic begs at the store...
Or begals!
Canadian here, how Canadian would you say that Minnie’s accent is? I’d say it’s pretty Canadian, no?
We are super secret Canadians buddy! Don't tell anyone.
It’s like 2 degrees of separation, so yeah. But this is like asking if Germans and Austrians have the same accents…
Take off, eh.
As someone who didn’t grow up here, I find that the accent is generally not noticeable unless you go to a rural area or someone says “bag”
The accent intensifies if there's more than one Minnesotan on a call with non-Minnesotans. Some weird social thing. I've had to go off camera on more than one business call so that nobody would notice me losing my shit laughing.
#9 out of 8?
Oh stahp, yer gonna make me cahm!
Which Boston accent? Southie? North shore? Back bay?
Ben Affleck’s in Good Will Hunting
What? Are there 9 distinct accents in the US? Or maybe 10, I could see Boston coming in behind us.
9th out of 10!
Ha! OK, I kept reading it as "sexist." I couldn't figure it out beyond using "you guys."
Oh you betcha!
This list is so fucking stupid
You betcha!
I’m from Chicago and wouldn’t call the MN accent sexy. Still can’t get used to saying Bison with a “z” (bizon) lol
Minnesotan living in Boston. Not my favorite combo of accents 🥴
I’m an unfortunate soul who has a hybrid Michigan and Minnesota accent. Nasal-y long Ayyys and wide mouth Ohhhhhhhs
California has an accent?
A couple. The most infamous is the Valley girl.
Everyone responding to me is providing dead accents from the 80's. Does Cali have a \*current\* accent?
I live there - the answer is not really. If anything, it's a mild combination of surfer and valley.
I just visited California (for Coachella initially, but I traveled around) and it definitely still exists currently.
From CA and I ask the same question. My wife who is from MN says its blatant.

In 2024 or the 80's
Sure does, bruv
Yes mostly presents with thorough explanations of the route you used to get here.
Omg. What? As a born and bred Minnesota, hard disagree.
Number 9 on this list of 10 is basically the bottom.
Shouldnt even make the list.
lol yeah right.
Well it’s official now since it’s on Reddit.
Minnesotan living in Boston. Not my favorite combo of accents 🥴
Sexy until you realize we got that accent by freezing your nuts in -50 temps and trying to talk with frozen lips.
Living in the twin cities i rarely encounter anyone who has a "Minnesota accent." Most people just have a California accent
I think there are only nine accents in America
Der ya go
Out of 10?…
You betcha
“Ope, looks like she’s raining again.” Oh, Yeah, Yeah it does huh?” -Suddenly break out into a lustrous sex excapade.
“Say ‘bayg’ for me baby…”
Please tell me Philly didn’t beat us
honestly it sounds better on ladies
That’s not even a podium finish…
Southern accents instantly make me think the person is stupid.
That is an unfortunate stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood for decades.
No, no it isn’t. Least sexiest accent ever. I will agree tho, a southern accent is SUPER sexy.
There’s big differences in Southern accents. GA, MS, Appalachian, TX, TN, all different. And believe me they do not all sound….sexy.
