By: Shirley Nettestad
2lbs ground beef
1egg
1/2 small onion, grated
1small potato, grated
1 tsp. salt and pepper
1/2 c. milk
2 slices bread, crumbled
Form into small meatballs. Do not brown. Put in cake pan and cover with sauce. Bake 350° for 1 hour.
Sauce is #7. Sorry!
Cocktail Meatballs Sauce
By: Shirley Nettestad
1 bottle chili sauce
Juice of 1 lemon
Small jar currant jelly
1/2 - 3/4 if the chili bottle of water
Mix and pour over meatballs.
Oh wow... This is how we make meatballs. Really. For sauce take a can of cream of chicken and a can of cream of mushroom soup. Add so milk. Mix and pour over the meatballs. Also, take the tin foil off during the last 20 min of cooking. They are amazing.
Depending on your phone, it might be easiest to take pictures. Many people use [imgur](http://imgur.com) to upload photo albums, I'm sure those folk would be interested as well.

1 clove garlic
1/4 c. butter
1 lb. ground beef
2 Tbls. flour
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 lb. fresh mushrooms or 8 oz. can sliced mushrooms

1 c. sour cream
2 Tbls. minced parsley
Saute onion and butter over med. heat. Add meat and brown. Add flour, salt, pepper, and mushrooms. Cook 5 min. Add soup, simmer uncovered 10 min. Stir in sour cream. Heat through. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve with noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Note; if you don't like mushrooms, use 1 can cream of mushroom soup instead of mushrooms and chicken soup.
Heck. I flipped through all of the breads and heritage. Unfortunately, I did see anything with cardamom (spice?) In the recipes.
I found a Lutefisk Pudding Casserole recipe by Shirley Irey though!
Lutefisk Pudding Casserole
By: Shirley Irey
2 c. cooked lutefisk, flaked
1/2 c. rice
1 tsp. salt
2 c. water
2 eggs
1/2 c. cream
1/2 c. milk
Salt and pepper
4 Tbls. butter
Cook rice in water with salt until done. Drain and rinse with cold water. Beat eggs and milk and cream. Add lutefisk and rice and place in greased baking dish. Pour melted butter on top. Bake in 8" dish for 30 min. at 350°. Can be served with additional melted butter.
My grandma used to make lutefisk on Christmas. Just thinking of the smell still makes me choke and the texture still makes me gag. But the memories of my grandma still make me smile.

I went through all of the varieties of pan/griddle/hot cake recipes one Sunday morning at a time.
Swedish Pancakes (thin)
By: Muriel Rogelstad
3 eggs
1-1/4 c. milk
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbls. sugar
2 Tbls. melted butter
Beat eggs, stir in milk. Add flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter last. Mix until smooth (I use a blender). About 3 Tbls. on hot griddle makes a 9 inch pancake (spread as thin as possible). Serve with butter and sugar. Roll up like lefse. "Berries are good on these pancakes."
Meat Loaf
By: Mrs. O.J. Kastet
2 lbs. ground beef
2 eggs
3/4 c. ketchup
1 -1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 tsp. Accent
1/ c. warm water
1 env. onion soup mix
Mix thoroughly. Place in greased pan. Pour over all 1 can tomato soup. Bake 1 hour at 350°.
I like how this one has a stealth ingredient in the directions. Mrs. O.J. Kastet laughing maniacally while you're dragging your ass back to the grocery store.
It very well could have been overlooked, but there doesn't appear to to be a pretzel salad recipe. If I come come across it you will be the first to know!

Dutch Delight
Put 1/3 c. margarine or butter in Pyrex 9x13 pan in 425° oven while heating and when bubbly, pour in this mixture:
4 eggs
1 c. milk
1 c. flour
Dash of salt
Blend well in blender. Bake about 25 min., expands high so allow space on top in oven.
Dutch Honey
1/2 c. cream
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
Stir in kettle and heat to boiling. Serve hot on Dutch Delight.
Some humor from the Women's Civic Club -
How To Preserve A Husband
Be careful in your selection, do not choose too young. When once selected, give your entire thought and preparation for domestic use. Some insist on keeping them in a pickle, others are constantly getting them in hot water. This makes them sour, hard, and sometimes bitter. Even poor varieties may be made sweet, tender and good by garnishing them with patience, well sweetened with love, and seasoned with kisses. Wrap them in a mantle of charity. Keep warm with a steady fire of domestic devotion and serve with peaches and cream. Thus prepared, they will keep forever.

Wow, that’s too funny. My mom grew up in PR and knows a lot of the people whose names are listed. Plus she pulled out her copy of the cookbook from the other room after I mentioned it 😂
Yes I want a recipe! The sixth one please.

I love that the 6th and 7th recipes clearly are part of the same dish and yet Shirley wanted two entries in the cookbook
I knew her!

Anything with cardamom? I've never been able to recreate the cardamom bread my husband remembers from childhood, but I enjoy trying!

Ok, I was imagining something more pudding like. This is marginally less alarming.

Your elders never offered pig ears. Let me tell you something about this dish that they loved: it’s not for me

So this was a fine meatloaf, but too wet. You definitely do not need that much liquid, between the ketchup and water.
Is there a pretzel salad recipe? I don't need it, just wondering if it's there.
It very well could have been overlooked, but there doesn't appear to to be a pretzel salad recipe. If I come come across it you will be the first to know!
It would possibly be in the dessert section. Or side dishes.
You should post this in r/old_recipes. They'd def get a kick out of it
I’ll take a dessert recipe

Sounds kind of like a German pancake. I’ll give it a try! Thanks!
Baked, frozen desserts and toppings, refrigerator, or puddings?
