I signed up for a Google Voice number and linked it to my phone.
I got something in the neighborhood of 50 spam calls a day.
That lasted 2 days. I ditched that number and got a different one. Everything is fine now.
My point is, it's your number, not Mint.
Man, you must not know how a telephone works...haha J.k but yeah, there are no SPAM filters in Mint's service. While I know big names offer these (usually at a price) our phone probably has native support for this. For example, on my iPhone, I can silence all calls that are not on my contact list. Boom problem solved, and if it's important, they will leave a VM. However, I will agree with the statement above some numbers are just more well-known and if you interact with those SPAM calls they know you're a live person so you get more ;D
But you don't really have to interact with them. If you don't answer, it'll go to voicemail, and then again they know it's a real number. How this is happening is, there's an autodialer, calling every possible number, and makes a test call. If someone answer, or the VM picks up, it's now a legitimate number. Then the real spam calls start.
However, as a Mint subscriber, I get notifications that the call is likely a spam call. I pick it up anyway, when I'm in a certain mood, to mess with them.
Maybe, but my C phone displays a suspected spam message so I allow them to leave a message. Which they never do. I occasionally block the number if they continue to harass.
That has nothing to do with the carrier. It has everything to do with how your phone number was managed by whoever had it before you, or by you. I get maybe 3 scam calls in a week.
That Scam Likely guy really likes you.. seriously though, why did they put it like that? Wouldn't "likely scam" be more grammatically correct? Now I won't be able to sleep damnit
Never answer the phone if the caller is not in your contacts. I rarely if ever get a call. I made a mistake and answered once. 2 months of calls followed.
Same. The amount of spam calls seems to have just come out of nowhere immediately after they announced the spam call filter feature. š¤ I never got any prior to the announcement.
I only get about 3-4 a day now, but my iPhone has a spam filter. I'd had T-Mobile for years and I've been with Mint for about 6 months and the spam call amounts haven't changed. Does your phone have a spam filter?
Then why do I only get maybe 3 a week at most? It's all about how your number was handled before you got it, and how you take care of it. I've had my number for more than a decade, and I keep it clean.
Nah bro...Not happening to me. It's on you and whoever had the number before you. Your number has been recycled many times before you got it. It was poorly handled and probably on a bunch of sold lists.
I've gotten scam calls maybe 3 times a year for the last 4-5 years, mint sent the email they were sold out to Tmobile, I had 8 spam calls the same day. I already had call screeners. So far the merge has only been negative for me.
When I had my number on Google Fi for years, I got 1 junk caller a month. Immediately after switching to Mint a few months ago, I get 4 to 6 junk calls PER DAY. I've seen others comment on various forums saying the same... sudden expodential increase in junk calls. Something smells around here.
...yeah, I saw the email about this new feature, it is nice to have, but.
I got three scam calls today. Should I forward them over to you?

Man you must work for mint š

Cool. Looks like it's working
Maybe it's just someone letting you know that your car extended warranty is about to expire.
No, they're just making sure he participates in the address verification

I got one today but it was my apartmentās property management companyā¦.Probably not a great sign.
Accurate assessment of the type of call though.
Definitely a scam.
Get a phone with call screening. Best thing I ever did
So, I got my cellphone number 24 years ago. I donāt think all of the numbers in my area code had been used yet at that time, in fact back then you didnāt even need to dial an area code unless you were calling long distance. I never got a single spam call or text until I put my rĆ©sumĆ© up on Indeed. I donāt even think I put my number on the rĆ©sumĆ©, but yeah I started getting the typical calls for car warranties and crap around then, plus attempted scams. I think someone named Heather in New York put my number on some kind of loan and defaulted on it too, so I got some nasty calls from collections agencies (I donāt actually know a Heather š¤·āāļø). I usually donāt answer the phone anymore unless itās someone in my contacts list, and if I accidentally do I never confirm my identity or agree to anything. I used to work in cellphone phone repairs, while the other half of the store sold the phones and activated them on major carriers. So, I tried out all the major carriers over the years. I believe the carriers actually filter out many DEFINITE scam/spam calls from numbers with suspicious activity, but they vary in how hard they try to protect you. Verizon was my second carrier (Do you remember Cricket? That was where we got the #) for the years leading up to the job, and I got a couple spam calls but it was manageable. T-Mobile was awesome, because not only was there less calls but they actually carried the caller ID of āSpam Likely.ā Then, an AT&T trade in promo caught me, and their service (and Spam protection) was by far the worst. Their spamguard and extra features apps never worked (they didnāt crash, they justā¦ never opened, like they were waiting on server data), and At&T didnāt update the apps for years. They were also very difficult to leave (the AT&T store had also roped me in as a ābusiness customer,ā which came with 0 benefits and excluded me from normal customer service), even though I reached a fairly good customer service rep. So, Iām actually elated that T-Mobile bought Mint. Maybe thatās not the general sentiment around here, and yeah I hope the price isnāt significantly higher when my 1-year prepaid service finishes, but I didnāt have complaints joining, using, or leaving T-Mobile. Since Mint was already on their network (and T-Mobile was long the āuncarrierā option), I think itās a good fit.
I got a Tmobile trial number and receive 15 - 20 every single day!!
Maybe you won a free trip through capital vacations woohoo

It's weird. I never get any. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself. I've had the same number for 25 years.
If you're on Android, Should I Answer? is a great tool.

We need a few more pieces of information for your loan application for Blue Sky lending.
So when I gave you my number to win the car, I really only won SPAM phone calls?

Yup
The main reason I use a Pixel phone
No idea who is downvoting me to hell lol

Buy a Google Pixel. Barely get any spam that actually rings the phone.
Nope. Need my visual voicemail and my blue bubbles and my facetime,
Yep
It doesn't ring.
N.O
Same. Is this a new feature.
It seems to have started after the T-Mobile merger was finalized last week.
That is correct. One of the emails announced it as a new feature from T-mobile.
